I was craving orange chicken and started looking around online I saw that Chef Ming's had some good reviews so I decided to give it a chance. I ordered the dinner special that came with egg fried rice, and lo mein. I was not disappointed. The orange chicken was delicious. The fried rice was just right and the lo mein was very tasty. The price point was very reasonable and they give you a ton of food. I will definitely try this place again since I want to try the other items. It is hard to find good Chinese food and I was very satisfied with the quality and taste of these items very yummy. I would recommend you give it a shot. read more

Since my parents live nearby they always prefer to order from here and have been for years. A few years ago it went under new ownership. They had gotten to know the former owners well and really liked them. The new management is nice and I don't notice much of a difference with the food. It's pretty basic Chinese food. Made quick and fresh. With friendly service. Definitely not a place you would like to sit and eat at since it's in a very busy mini mall with not the greatest ambience. Customer service was great, food, however, was lacking in the chicken category. I got chicken fried rice and ended up paying $17 for 5 pieces of chicken and a whole lotta fried rice. I came in looking for a clear soup (my wife had tummy issues I was hoping to fix): I bought Won Ton soup, and on a whim, potstickers. The broth on the soup was heavenly and the container filled with fresh wok fried vegetables and meats. Potstickers were better than OK, would have been excellent, had I not walked 4 blocks back to my hotel. The food was so good, I drove back and ordered the 3 meat lunch combo. Everything was excellent. Meats were velveted, making for an easy chew and soft mouth feel - and the taste? Beyond expectations. The next time we visit Santa Monica, THIS will be my go-to for food. I ordered Chefs Ming so this review is a little different. But the food was prepared fresh and was delivered on time. Everything was still hot when it got to us and looked phenomenal. The service was great in that regards. The crab ragoons where really the perfect crispy texture on the outside till you get to the middle where its nice and soft. The tasted phenomenonal. The spicy orange can always be hit or miss simply because it may not be spicy enough but it was good sweet savory missing a bit of spice for my personal taste but more than satisfactory. This is such a nice little spot. I'm grateful it's so conveniently located nearby, because the food is always awesome and it's super easy to walk a couple blocks to pick it up. Their combo is by far the best deal for me. Hot and sour soup, egg rolls, wontons, rice, and an entree? Food and customer service-bad. Went in about 4:30 PM and ordered sweet and sour chicken and two other dishes to go. When I got home I open the sweet and sour chicken and found out that some of the chicken was dried out. I then called the restaurant and spoke to a lady and told her about the chicken dish.. She checked with the chef. He told her it was all freshly made . Ìt was not. I have been going to that restaurant for over à year and never had a problem. The lady did not believe me and did not offer to make me a new dish or offer me a discount on the next time I came in. I have not been back to the restaurant and either has my friend. I swear I'm not a hater! LOL! But I found Chef Ming's to just be alright. I ate most of it but I don't see myself ordering from them again. That being said, the Honey Apple Fruit Tea is delish! Def recommend that! I tried the ~ Egg Rolls - didn't love them honestly. Flavor was fine but consistency was a bit off, too mushy. They are meatless and thinner than others you may be used to. I only ate half of these than lost interest. Proteins - Lemon Chicken, Sweet and Sour Pork and Sesame Chicken. All were just fine. S&S Pork was stacked full of veggies so I would have liked a bit more meat. The taste to all was fine but not fantastically delicious. Crispiness could have been stepped up a bit. I actually ate in the restaurant. That's on me. The mediocre run of the mill nothing to write home about food is on them. I have two litmus test dishes when I get Chinese food in these hole in the wall dives: hot and sour soup and moo shu vegetables. The soup came out of the same can almost every other "low bar set and not exceeded" sort of place. Moo shu was a tad bit better and was not overly spiced, but was sitting in a puddle of the sauce it was tossed in. As for eating in... it's depressing and will make you feel like Christian Slater's character in "True Romance." (Haven't seen it? Heck, order in some decent Chinese food and stream it.) I hate only being negative, so I will say that if I am ever hungover during their business hours and for whatever reason Chinese food sounds good I might (might) call in a take-out order. So, if you are drunk or hungover, or if you are on house arrest and this is the only Chinese place in your delivery area, think about getting pizza instead. Otherwise, um, go for it. read more

Very disappointed in this restaurant will not return. I ordered sweet and sour chicken on the lunch menu about 2:45 PM. When I got ready to eat about 4:45 it was dried out and unable to eat. I was told it was freshly made and I needed to eat the food in their restaurant.. I go there for take out as I am Disabled and send my caregiver and daughter to bring in food. I asked for a credit but the lady avoided the subject said she would talk to the chef. She came back saying it was freshly cooked and I should eat in her place. I feel that was not a good way to handle things. She should have offered me another one or a credit for the next time I come in for take out. They lost a good customer. For lunch, you can get a two entree dish for $11, which is a tad cheaper than Panda Express with slightly better portion size. The chow mein and rice are pretty standard and nothing special (think the rice is primarily soy sauce and some scallions). The orange chicken and Kung Bao chicken are a bit sauce heavy and lack some crisp freshness but to be fair, I ordered from hot bar mid afternoon. Good amount of protein and the sauce was very flavorful. Goes well with an order of white rice. It could've been a little spicier in my opinion, but I like spicy food. The pork bao on the other hand left a lot to be desired. The dough was really thick and a little hard. Not as fluffy as bao that I'm used to eating. And it had only a small amount of bbq pork inside. I ate the first one and only about half of the second. The Thai tea tasted good, sweet like I like it. But I would get it without the boba next time. The diameter of the straw it came with wasn't that wide, and the boba pieces kept getting stuck in the straw. That made it very frustrating to drink the tea. read more

Amazing Chinese food and fast prep time. We ordered this for pick up and didn't realize we had called the Beverly Hills location, to which the front employee (owner?) quickly remedied with a call to that location. Great service. We got the spicy crispy beef with a side of rice (sorry forgot to take a picture until after we had helped ourselves). Good portion size split between two adults. It was cooked perfectly, crispy and delicious. I highly recommend. I think I found my new favorite Chinese restaurant. There are many other things on their menu that I'd like to try. So my friend and I order here cause she was raving how fast and good this place was on a Friday night and I was for it. The app says it's ready in 45 and she was like nahhh it's like half that time. 45 mins later, no food. I was pissed! (More because I was v hungry.) And so we call- they say an hour! So we drive over (4 mins from her house) so we can just grab it and eat out of the parking lot and the folks inside were like "nah, it left. " So we WAIT ANOTHER 15 at her house, and the food arrives and the dude who hands it to her IS THE DUDE SHE SAW JNSIDE when they told her the food left. Awkward. We rip the bag open and roll around the food and then we realize NO LOMEIN! She was crying as she was eating but find the energy to call nicely and tell them she is missing an order. They were apologetic and food ARRIVED in like 3 mins! They gave us 2 extra almond cookies. After we calmed down, we enjoyed the crab rangoons, spring roll, Lo mein, veggie dumplings, and crispy beef. The food was decent and the beef wasn't that spicy (I said VERY SPICY plz) but it was like crack . I def am not writing them off despite the situation. Somehow spent $58 ordering from here on Postmates. Somehow they have a 4.8 rating on Postmates as opposed to Chin Chin's 4.6. I normally order chin chin but ordered this instead bc it had a higher rating. Then I realized it's the hole in the wall in SM blvd I would never go to! The quantity of food you receive is generous; however, the quality on the other hand is persuasive enough such that I'm willing to shell out a few dollars more to take my money just about anywhere else. 9 dollars for a one item seems good, but it's not. I opted for the broccoli beef. The beef was chewy, cold and possibly rancid. So for 9 dollars, you receive a bunch of noodles.
