A family was already waiting ahead of us, and once the hostess finally came, it took her at least 10 minutes to seat them because she had to search for children's menus or coloring items. Those things should be readily available, especially during dinner hours. Once we were seated, our waiter Nicholas was amazing -- attentive, kind, and the highlight of our visit. Unfortunately, the food took well over an hour to arrive. We were so hungry from the long wait that we had to ask for bread, which they ended up giving us for free. I ordered the oxtail for $31 and substituted mashed potatoes for the coconut rice. The flavor was good, but the temperature was disappointing -- not hot enough, especially after such a long wait. It was always delicious and a wonderful experience that I've even taken out of town friends to. this time however at this newer location, the food just didnt hit the mark. I had the BBQ sliders. They were so dry, it was tragic. There was supposed to be slaw on there and there was MAYBE 2 strips of cabbage on there for the so called "slaw". Even the tiny dab of BBQ sauce couldn't help these things taste like anything. The pattys actually tasted like a frozen patty quality. It seemed out of their norm. The chicken and waflles were tasty though. But those BBQ sliders - do yourself a favor and just say no. Will try again maybe one day. This place is a 45 minute drive from me so it was disapointing after having so many great experiences at the other place. Went to watch a Jazz band play and have dinner with our family. Though I made a reservation to watch the band they tried seating us in a separate room, and seemed bothered/unprepared to seat us so we could watch/listen to the band...the whole reason we came so far for dinner. When we were finally seated, we could not see the band, which was disappointing for our family, but our waiter was very friendly and made the experience better. The food wasn't as good as I remember it being, the best thing we had was our dessert - key lime pie...the redemption! Wed. 3-11-26 I was excited to go here to meet family friends from out of state... The menu sounded amazing & family from the area enjoys the place. Our friends were waiting at the bar when we arrived & were the only 2 of several at the bar... They're outgoing and naturally made a nice acquaintance with the bartender, Jason... They're outgoing had easy drinks: beer & wine. ^Our party all arrive & we are nicely greeted by Nate our server. Everybody orders beer, wine, or their special drink from the menu. Except my Husband & I... we order Martinis. For as big of a bar they have, they strangely only carry 3 kinds of Gin: Hendricks, Bombay Sapphire, & ___. ^We order 2 Dirty Hendricks Martinis. Nate was awesome & didn't spill a single drop! However, we both could tell from a distance that something was very wrong... They should've been opaque, not swampy. There was SOOO much olive juice in them that we could not taste the Hendricks... So flipping salty! I took another sip... and, I heard my Husband say he couldn't drink it, and I admitted the same. We never throw booze out, and we have NEVER sent back food or drink in all of our years on this planet, EVER! But, this time we did... ^The bartender happened to be walking by table at this point and politely said something to Jason. Here's where it turned UGLY. He didn't apologize, he gave us a major attitude and said, "Well, you did order a dirty martini." "Yes, but this is too much & undrinkable." More attitude followed & the whole table got uncomfortable. A dirty martini is still supposed to be near clear... Jason did not take the drinks and left to do whatever it was he was about to do when we stopped him. Nor, did he come back. Our server was busy taking another table's order. So, my Husband takes the drinks to the bar... Now, it gets even UGLIER! Jason, the bartender takes the glass that I was drinking out of, and ^^^he takes a drink from it! THEN, has the gall to say to my Husband, "tastes fine to me" while shrugging. I cannot believe my Husband kept his composure while telling the bartender that he's in the wrong line of business. I'm so glad it was my Husband instead of me... I would have lost it! But, we were trying to have a nice time with friends/family that we don't see often! Grrr! After Husband comes back, Nate, the server comes over and my Husband explains what happened. Nate is awesome, with great honest manners... He apologizes & asks if we'd like another drink. Yes, please, not dirty, we are way behind our folks now! But, now it takes forevvver, of course. We would have had 2 martinis, even at $17 a piece had the first not been jacked. ^Our food arrives... Everybody's plates look amazing! Oh, and I forgot to mention... family members bought the appetizer of Italian Nachos, that were tasty. My Husband got the Better Than Sex Chicken... He said it was good, but confused as to why it didn't have salad, or extra side to accompany... We just thought it wasn't on the menu, as a lot of high price restaurants do that, but offer it at the table. Another odd note: 3 ordered: Hawaiian salmon, stuffed poblano, and Étouffée... the weird part is that a plate of 2 thick slices of bread were brought to them... ^Everyone was happy with their meals... Unfortunately, except me. Mine was NOTHING as described. I ordered a Caesar Salad. I would have gotten a better Caesar at La Madeleine. For as fancy as this menu is, one would at least expect good Parmesan. Mine had barely any. And, the dressing was probably from a bottle. Hey, but, it was only $7, so... Next: I ordered the Fisherman's Stew (mainly because I just recently made Cioppino at home and couldn't warrant the price). Their Fisherman's Stew from their online menu/table is supposed to be: calamari, bay shrimp, bay scallops and both ocean and sea clams... Here we go: ^^It was super salty like bouillon cubes/granules. No bread... It looked like they just opened a can of tuna & dumped it in. It did have a tiny amount of some kind of white fish... BUT ZERO of the ingredients it was supposed to have. And, it was barely bigger than a cup, when I ordered a bowl, since I was having a salad. ^Dessert: Someone ordered bread pudding and shared with the table... I must say, this was good & not too sweet. My Husband & I were weary about ordering anything else, but ordered a Coffee & Kahlua each instead of the desserts the table was ordering. $12 each... but, hard to mess up. I was so disappointed & dissatisfied that when we got home, I made myself a gin on the rocks for a nightcap. I was still hungry, too, but it was too late to eat. I/we will not be going back... And, when our family on that side of town asks to get together we will ask to meet somewhere else. $141.27 is way too pricey for what we got. My family ordered Thanksgiving plates from Chef Point in Colleyville because I didn't feel like cooking this year. When I arrived at my scheduled pickup time of 11:30 a.m., I was told the food wasn't ready and that I would need to come back an hour later. This was frustrating, considering the pickup time was set by the restaurant, and I had driven 30 minutes across town. I told the hostess I would need to reschedule several other pickups to make that work. I asked if the restaurant was open for lunch while I made some calls, and she said yes. She left and came back to tell me that if I stayed for lunch, the meal would be 20% off for the wait. Instead, I asked whether they could apply that 20% discount to my Thanksgiving meals. She said they couldn't because "the system wouldn't let her." Fine. I then asked if they could offer something of equal value instead, and they agreed to give me a free mac and cheese. While all this was happening, someone from the back suddenly said they could have my food ready in 10 minutes. So it went from a one-hour wait to about 20 minutes--suspicious, but fine. I waited, picked up my meals, and left. Thanksgiving Day came, and while heating the food (per the written instructions), I noticed the stuffing was extremely wet--basically uncooked. I tried heating it longer to see if it would firm up, but it stayed soupy. The green beans were also very hard and still had stems attached. At that point, we gave up and went to pick up food elsewhere, which was really disappointing. I called the restaurant thinking they were open for dinner. The person who answered took down my information and said someone would call me back. No one did. I know Thanksgiving is busy, so I called again the next day (Friday). Around 11:30 a.m., someone else answered, took my information again, and said I would hear back within 24 hours--around 1:30 p.m. the following day. The next day came, and still nothing, so I called again. The hostess said someone else would contact me. Within an hour, I received a call from Paula, who I later learned is one of the owners. Paula asked what happened. After I explained, she told me that she had been in the restaurant when I picked up my order and that they had found a pan of stuffing meant for a later customer and scooped from that to get my food out faster. I said, "So you agree the meal you gave me was undercooked?" The heating instructions state that a pan of stuffing needs at least 45 minutes at 350 degrees. At this point, Paula started talking over me while I tried to explain again that the food was undercooked. She interrupted to say they had already "fixed this" by giving me a free mac and cheese, and that a microwave and oven cook the same, all I needed to do was heat it up. I told her I would gladly pay for the mac and cheese if needed, because it wasn't the issue. No one in my family touched the Thanksgiving plates--none of us were going to eat soupy stuffing. She then talked over me again, saying, "Well, I fed over 60 people with those plates and no one else had any problems." I responded, "Either you haven't heard about them yet, or they didn't get the same soupy mess I did." Paula then said, "It's not my fault your family are picky eaters, and I'm not giving you a refund," and hung up on me. I'm writing this to warn people away from a restaurant that used to be one of my favorites. The entire experience--from the pickup to the food to the way I was spoken to--was unacceptable. And the Monte Cristo, which I was really looking forward to, fell short of my expectations. It just didn't have that perfect balance of crispy, melty, and flavorful that makes a great Monte Cristo shine. Chef point is a great neighborhood spot for a family dinner, lowkey date night, or a solo meal. I went on a Friday evening around 6pm for dinner with my 3-year old. It was busy enough to know it was a popular spot; we didn't have to wait to be seated but people were waiting by the time we left. We ordered the blackened Salmon over an Alfredo-like pasta. It was very good. I wished o had ordered two versus sharing because my 3-year old loved it. We finished off the meal with the bread pudding which came highly recommended. I LOVE bread pudding so I try it anywhere that has it. This one was very good. The sauce is what really set it apart - I think it was a bourbon sauce. My favorite part about Chef Point is how the Chef (and all of the staff for that matter) interacts with the guests - they make you feel like a regular even if it's your first visit. So who has been to the original Chef Point, in a Conoco gas station in Watauga, Texas? What did you think? We weren't impressed, primarily because the AC was out, in the summer AND kitchen ventilation was out. This means it was hot and smokey. Horrible experience, but the food showed potential. Well that was a long time ago, and this new (3rd location if I'm not mistaken) is unbelievable. Such a sleek look. And the gorgeous full bar was quite a surprise. This location is not that far from that original Watauga location, but this restaurant is light-years away. As I recall Thúy had the ox tail, and it was delicious. It might have been a special, so if your mouth is watering, I'd recommend calling and checking. I recall the bread pudding at the original location was good, and I wanted to try it, but we were full (and Thúy vetoed the idea). I would like to visit again, next time we are in the area. Chef Point has become our goto for great food, excellent service and good drinks. We decided to to celebrate New Years Eve (2025) at Chef Point. Many restaurants set up special menus for holidays, but Chef Point is bucking the trend and served their regular menu along with a few specials (food and drinks). We started with a Blackberry Smash & Premium Margarita, both were excellent choices. I will need to try one of the whisky's on the next visit. We tried the Fisherman Stew and What Nots (these are now mandatory for a visit to Chef Point. The stew was very good with a nice hint of spice. I had heard the Oxtail was a speciality and the meat was tender (fall of the bone) and the red sauce had a nice kick to complement the meat and coconut rice. We finished the meal with Key Lime Pie which was very refreshing. Service was excellent as usual, thanks Kelly. We had been customers since Chef Pointe was on Watauga Rd. Last Friday a reservation for 4:30, the front counter couldn't find it. There was lots of scrolling and confusion, but they were willing to seat us since only three tables were busy. We were greeted promptly and ordered an entrée with salad. About 10 minutes later, a bowl of something that looked like it fell out of a Kroger salad bag arrived, along with a little plastic cup of watered-down ranch. Twenty minutes later, we noticed our meals sitting under the heat lamps. They actually sat there for another 10 minutes, which made the overcooked Monte Cristo rock hard. My stuffed poblano was an oversalted stew with a tiny pepper at the bottom. Oh well--after 30 minutes, we just ate it. I mistakenly said, "Well, they can't take as long with dessert." After 20 minutes of waiting, we just gave up. We went to the counter, boxed up the dessert, paid, and left. The waiter was taking orders, delivering food and drinks, taking payments, bussing tables, and setting tables--all alone. Hard-working guy. Hard to love the new location in Colleyville when I was such a long time fan of the original (now closed) Watauga location. The vibe here is different. Open and modern. Not as old-school and comfortable as the original. Plenty of well-paved and well-lit parking immediately behind the restaurant. Food is still very, very good. Chicken and waffles often my go-to selection with airline boneless chicken and a Belgian waffle. Not a huge serving size but ample. Don't forget the hot sauce. And the famous bread pudding with cognac sauce is a huge portion. Not to be missed. I order mine at the start of the meal just to be sure they don't run out. The pudding was featured in the Triple D episode in which the original, gas station based restaurant, appeared. Service good. Chef often on the floor interacting with patrons. Tonight my friend and I got Chef Point delivered through Uber Eats, I told him I wanted a really good grilled chicken sandwich and he told me he heard about this place. We place our order and received our food with in 30 mins. We were both impressed by how the food was wrapped and seal. Alot of times you order delivery and restaurant's dont use the safe tape/seal. Chef point not only had the safety tape, but also had my veggies wrapped in to prevent leaks! We used to go to Chef Point when they were at the original location for years. We finally got around to trying the new location. Overall it was a pleasant experience. We got an appetizer of Mac and Cheese and Lobster Bisque. That was a meal by itself. I had the Monte Cristo and my wife got Chicken Scallopini which we had to take home due to how big the portions are. The food is good if not better than I remember it being. And of course we ended with the bread pudding which is one of of the best desserts I ever had. The prices have gone up noticeably but I personally feel they prices are fair and very reasonable. I mean it's not Chili's or Applebees. It's exceptionally prepared and obviously of high quality. The interior is nice and the booths are comfortable but a lot of the seating is the booth and chairs and we found the chairs are more decorative than comfortable but that is a personal preference. Just didn't find the chairs comfortable but the booth was fine. The service was also good just a little slow at first to get drink refills but not a huge deal. Everything was really enjoyable. If you have never been here the original location was featured on Triple D. And they still have the same or close to the same menu items that are a staple for Chef Point and that's great. This establishment has made me reconsider the weighting I place on reviews. I have now dined here multiple times, initially at the urging of a friend because I was skeptical of the score. I have never had a single item that is anything less than exceptional. Ranging from apps like the stuffed mushrooms, smoked wings, and chicken nachos to entrees like the Jamaican étouffée, shrimp scampi, and pot roast - everything has been stellar and incredibly delicious. The thought that I would have missed out on these experiences, if not for the urging of a friend, makes me question what else I have missed because of review scores. I arrived in a party of six with reservations at 1pm on a Sunday. You'd never know this restaurant was a gas station!! We walked into stares from the staff which was a bit uncomfortable but none the less we carried on to our table. We ordered the bloody best (awesome presentation), Italian nachos (so so good) and a mimosa flight to begin. It was all really tasty and enough to share! The atmosphere was casual with a moderate amount of customers. There's seating inside, outside and a bar area. Our waiter was very accommodating and knowledgeable of the menu. The entrees we ordered (stuffed chicken, shrimp and grits, chicken and waffles, better than sex fried chicken) were delicious, we even got the chef's attention to give him a thumbs up! The only thing that fell flat was the "better than sex" fried chicken...it was mediocre, nothing too special about it. Will definitely be back and highly recommend. Definitely 5 out of 5!! read more

We love Chefs Point. We had been going since the original location was still a gas station, just before they had the dinners, drive ins & dives episode. Unfortunately the OG location closed within the last year; but this location I know was Chef's original dream. So I'm excited for them to have this nicer, bigger location off of the Hwy. This location is a nice big space with a bar in the middle. They are well known for the Bloody Mary with a lot of goodies on top. It's enough to be a meal on its own: Staff is extremely friendly and knowledgeable about the menu during our times coming here. My husband likes the BTS chicken & waffles; as well as the what-knot mushrooms as an appetizer. I like a lot of the pasta dishes. Even the kids meals are a bit upscale; the chicken strips are slices of chicken breast breaded and fried in house ... so not your typical chicken strips so if you have a kiddo that won't eat something cause it looks different than what they expected Id say go with the burger or Mac n Cheese ... but my youngest kiddo enjoyed them! For sure come check them out; and dogs are welcome on their patio!! read more
