Great service and solid food at Jellico's! Had dinner at Jellico's Restaurant in the Dallas Southlake Weston Hotel and was pleasantly impressed. My server Adam was fantastic - really took the time to understand my preferences and made spot-on recommendations. Based on his suggestions, I went with the lobster appetizer and Steak Frites for my main course. The fried lobster was good, though nothing groundbreaking - exactly what you'd expect from a quality preparation. The real star was the Steak Frites. The steak itself was absolutely amazing - incredibly flavorful and well-prepared. It came with a delicious sauce (wish I caught the name!), fresh salad, and some truly excellent fries. My only minor quibble was that I ordered medium-well but it came closer to medium/medium-rare. That said, it was so delicious I honestly didn't mind. For drinks, I stuck with my usual Michelob Ultra on draft, which hit the spot. They do offer Heineken Zero as their non-alcoholic option, which isn't bad, but they could really expand their zero-alcohol beer selection - the market is exploding with great options like Sam Adams "Just the Haze." Overall, excellent service from Adam and a really enjoyable meal. Even if you're not staying at the Westin, it's worth stopping by if you're in the area. read more

My sisters and I had Christmas Eve dinner here. I wasn't aware it was located in a Westin Hotel so initially I was apprehensive. We ate from the prefix menu. The lobster bisque was delicious with good amount of lobster on top. The main dish was beef Wellington . It was also surprisingly delicious. The chef Mark Guzman even stopped by the table to chat. We have grabbed lunch here twice so far. Once for lunch on Thanksgiving day and second just a quick place to meet up to exchange Christmas gifts with friends. The food is really good! I don't write a lot of reviews but I felt compelled to write one about Jellico's, specifically because of the hostess (I didn't get her name) today, Christmas Day. I had to feed my baby and when I asked if there was a nursing room or bathroom I could nurse, she kindly said that a baby shouldn't have to eat in a bathroom and offered the private meeting room instead. She was really kind! The buffet was pretty good, with dessert being the best. The prime rib was okay. I'd give this place 4 stars but because of that hostess, this gets 5 stars! read more

We went here for Mother's Day brunch and it was a chaotic mess. The waiter disappeared and didn't return for 30 minutes. The same waiter made us change tables in the middle of the meal (mind you, we had a toddler in a high chair and I had a sleeping newborn in my arms) without initially offering any help, as they had overbooked the restaurant and needed to move another two tables. (Funnily enough, the party of 10 they moved us to seat sat down, took one look at the restaurant and got up and left.) The food for our 10am reservation finally showed up at around 11:15am. My chicken Caesar salad was missing chicken so when the waiter showed up with a chicken breast and dumped it on our table, I wasn't surprised to cut into it and see it was not fully cooked. read more

I met a business associate here for breakfast, and I have to say this place is fantastic. The food was fresh. The service was attentive and friendly, and it made the business meeting. As opposed to meeting at a typical coffee shop, Jalisco's at the Westin is quiet with plenty of spaces. The food is not your typical hotel fare it's made to order it's fresh and clean. I hate to admit that this is the perfect setting for a business meeting! Hala our server ad she was fantastic. She was from Egypt and had a great personality. She was so attentive and friendly, but also gave us ample space so we could discuss business. I will definitely be back ! So if you're in the Southlake area and need a good meal or a quiet place to work, this is your place. Ask for Hala, she will take good care of you! read more

We had a fantastic experience! The menu is packed with tasty options, and everything we ordered was absolutely delicious. It's a restaurant embedded in a hotel. The food is good, but I wouldn't come here because it's a restaurant--if you're staying at the Westin, it's primary benefit is it's proximity since Southlake isn't exactly walkable. Was seated with no wait. Food is prepped quickly and tasted fresh. Wait staff is attentive. Would I eat here again? Ultimately, yes. At dinner they have live music, a bar is just a few steps away, and you can lounge by the pool and/or fire pits just outside. Menu is small but varied, to cater to a variety of palettes. read more

We decided to stop in last minute on a Sunday for an early dinner and the staff quickly accommodated all 8 adults and 3 children under 4 years old. We are a rowdy bunch but were quickly tamed by each amazing plate of food. Between all of us we sampled pretty much all of the menu, but were passing plates around so fast I didn't have a chance to get any pictures. Favorites- Sharables: charcuterie board, tuna crudo, deviled eggs. Entrees: Steak and mashed potatoes, shrimp and grits. Dessert: S'mores with horchata ice cream (note: the panna cotta is vegan!) We had Easter Brunch here today. Just going to say if you consider having a big buffet brunch here, save your money. Where to start, 1) service- horrible, requested a cup of coffee got it 1/2 through meal, pick up used plates, rarely despite the fact the we were neatly stacking them, water refills, once near the end of the meal. The worse part of this is they charge a 20% service on the buffet for non existent service. 2) ambience- also non existent but it's a conference hall but they had a man playing music and it was so loud we could not hear our server explain the buffet lay out. 3) food, the reason you go, didn't even approach mediocre. Only thing good and fresh were the omelette made to order. No seafood (we usually get shrimp or smoked salmon on other brunch buffets, they had salmon on cooked entrees but not good. Bottom line, we paid $75 ppx 4, +20% gratuity + tax for a really sucky meal. read more

Jellico's saved our Christmas! Christmas plans fell through. We initially went to Henley bar at Hilton in Southlake town square and they had a VERY limited menu (wings, burger, chicken sandwich, or fish and chips as options. They did not inform us when we called prior to heading there). So called around to several places that were of course booked until finally we came across Jellico's. Not only did they have their full menu and excellent waitress, they had a charging station for my father in law's mustang( which he was empty and wouldn't have made home because he forgot to charge it.). So grateful to them for saving the day. Everyone enjoyed their meal. Will be back again for sure and would recommend the Weston to any out of town guest wanting a place to eat/drink during the holidays. read more

We had heard that Jellicos was the place to go so a group of 10 ladies decided to try it out. First of all none of us were impressed with our food. My redfish tacos barely had any red fish in them. What was worse than the lack luster food was the fact that they have a policy against splitting checks. There were 10 of us, some ordered wine, some appetizers and entrees. Dividing it equally amongst us didn't make sense. Finally the waiter had his manager come over and he begrudgingly said they would divide the checks. We go out regularly with this group and have never ran into this type of policy before. We will not go back. read more

We scheduled a Christmas buffet for our small family of four and were excited to try this place after reading about it and the story of the chef. We scheduled this almost a month ago and were called at 3:30 CHRISTMAS EVE and they said they were not having the event. When asked what alternatives they had they told us "the grocery store is open." WTH?! You ruined our Christmas! You mentioned your love of Paula Deen. Even she has a lot to teach you about running a business and etiquette. I hope this place does not recover and as a Marriott Lifetime Gold member will try to ensure they do not allow this to happen to families at their establishments during the holidays again. read more

Regarding the reasoning behind the last minute Christmas brunch cancellation bullshit excuse: The other Marriott hotel, Hotel Vin in grapevine, literally less than 5 miles away from this lousy Southlake Westin hotel, carried on with their Christmas brunch like the professionals they are. Common sense reflects that you do not determine Christmas Eve at 3-4 pm the new COVID spread is too dangerous and cancel at the last minute, 24 hours before this holiday brunch is scheduled. This defies intelligence and logic. And if this stupidity was the case, even more reason to clean house and immediately hire a new chef, food and beverage manager.... When I am on the road for work I normally spend a grip of money on UberEats for my meals. Having a place like Jellico's in the Westin hotel has altered that for my stay in Southlake, TX. I wish every hotel had such an accommodating restaurant such as this establishment. The beautiful hostess Hala immediately drew me towards her with a gigantic smile and a simple compliment. Being remembered the following day by the staff made me feel welcomed once again. Jellico's is located inside the brand new Westin Hotel, Southlake, Texas. The property and restaurant/bar areas are beautiful but the food served at Jellico's, absolutely blows. The menu is so "overthought" that it completely misses the mark by fifty miles. Here is the problem, young and promising chefs are given an opportunity at a new hotel restaurant and they feel the need to design to impress.......themselves and no one else. Take a look at the lunch and dinner menu, it is so unbelievably lacking. This is Texas, not some hippie hotel in San Francisco. If I were a guest at the Westin and saw this menu, I would laugh and walk out the door and travel less that ten minutes in any direction to Grapevine, Southlake, Keller or Roanoke and have 75 delicious restaurants at my fingertips ranging from upscale steakhouses, seafood, Mexican, Italian, Asian and BBQ, just to name a few. And the Jellico's menu is absolutely NOT going to attract locals (which the restaurant should strive for as they will fill the funding void on low occupancy days.) now to our dining experience. We went as a party of three adults to give it a shot, we are locals. As we entered the beautiful property on a Wednesday night, the restaurant, fully staffed at 7pm was absolutely dead. That should have been the first warning. So we sat in the beautiful bar, dead. Outstanding service all around, I will not take that away. I ordered the hamburger (ground beef AND ground pork patty) and it was good, but just a burger. I can get that anywhere. The wife, a true Southern girl, had the Shrimp and Grits, she said they blew. The grits tasted like someone opened a can of cream corn and folded it in, shrimp were cooked but very unseasoned. She did not finish her dish. Our guest had the Butternut Squash Ravioli. Absolutely flavorless and undercooked. I objectively tasted both dishes and absolutely concurred. So two of the signature dishes were left with only a couple of bites taken. A manager came over and offered hollow excuses, did not Comp the dishes but did provide a free dessert, a very poor decision. Any other "fine" restaurant would have comped those two dishes, no questions asked. The Lunch and Dinner menu itself is EXTREMELY limited, take a look and judge for yourself. Would you bring your family to dinner there if that is all you had to choose from? Would you take a business client there for lunch if that is all that was offered (unless you wanted a burger)? I think not. There is a reason why that beautiful restaurant was dead, the food and menus killed it. You will NEVER get locals to dine and spend money there in any kind of volume you need to support that establishment. It will be "first time" and most likely, last time locals. So my recommendation to the Chef, for gosh sake, reinvent those menus and offer competitive food options that will draw people to eat, not go elsewhere. You lunch menu should have several sandwich, pasta and Texas specialty options. Your dinner menu should offer delicious steak (not just one for goodness sake), pasta, chops, seafood and creative specialty items. Friday and Saturday should have the best "Prime Beef" Prime Rib dinner in the area..you have the kitchen to do it, so DO IT! That bar should be packed, but as long as you continue to "short pour" your martini's with cheesy "measured 2oz pours," folks are simply going to go elsewhere. Trust me on that. Okay, I gave y'all an honest and very objective review. I am a foodie of the highest order and I do many social media reviews. This one pained me to write, but it is an honest review. Chef, you have an opportunity to reinvent Jellico's and make it into a guest/local favorite, or, Marriott Corporate (and I am a Lifetime Platinum Elite member AND a stockholder, is going to start asking questions. NOT GOOD!! Service was ATROCIOUS. The place was not busy at all but it still took over 10 minutes just to have someone approach our table to give us water and another 5 minutes for the server to show up. We ordered mimosas which took another 10-15 minutes to come. I felt like someone was playing a bad joke on us! Our food actually came just minutes after the mimosas. I'm going to try to describe the food but I'm not sure that I'll be able to convey the weirdness of what was served. My husband ordered avocado toast...plain and simple, right? WRONG! It should have been named Avocado Bread. The bread was NOT toasted and there was a lemon MERINGUE under the avocado and shaved radishes all over the top. SUCH A BIZARRE COMBO and quite frankly, unappetizing. I, on the other hand, ordered Eggs Benedict with a jalapeño hollandaise sauce. The eggs were poached pretty perfectly BUT they were served on top of what looked like hamburger buns (minus the sesame seeds). And of course...all of the food was cold. I was absolutely STARVING and on the verge of being sick because of it so I begrudgingly ate what was placed in front of me. There were two positives from our visit. 1. The orange juice was fresh squeezed and really made the mimosa. 2. My Eggs Benedict came with bacon (and they managed to not screw that up). All in all...this was my Mother's Day brunch and it was a horrible experience. I watched two large groups (5+ people) be seated and both groups left because no one ever came to wait on them!
