My wife and I drove an hour and a half to attend a Bill McKibben lecture, but missed it because of long delays on route I 95. Hoping to enjoy a good conversation and a glass of wine, we checked on Yelp and decided to enjoy a brief interlude at Chef Prasad. Although we were not going to buy full meals, we were warmly welcomed into the restaurant and treated very well. The waiter who worked with us was attentive and personable and we certainly would come back if we are in the area again. We would particularly like to try the Itacos. read more

Had the pleasure of eating food from here for the first time on Saturday night. We walked in and although you can order online and pick up, Raymond and staff were happy to accommodate a walk in and offer suggestions on the menu. We are vegetarian/vegan so thankfully Indian food is user friendly. We had the Manchurian cauliflower appetizer which was fantastic! Can't wait to have it again! We also ordered 2 vegetarian entrees; a lentil dish and a cauliflower/potato dish. Both were excellent, perfectly seasoned with the right amount of heat and came with rice and delicious sauces. We were able to sit out on their patio and have a picnic! It was a great first experience and we look forward to trying more selections from their menu! read more

I've only ordered through Seamless, and the fact that I'm giving this 5 stars, despite a couple delivery hiccups here and there, is a testament to how good this food is. Easily the most complex/interesting/delicious Indian fare I've had in these parts. I'm no expert on the cuisine so I can't comment on how "authentic" it is, but I know what my taste buds tell me. Just ordered takeout and everything was delicious. We rarely order tandoori chicken from anyone because it's frequently dry and even more so tasteless. But it was part of our order this time and surprisingly it came out on top!!! It had a smoky flavor and was nicely spiced. Don't get me wrong. All of our dishes were amazing. We weren't exactly adventurous. Saag. Light. Bright green. Creamy. Vindaloo. Perfect. Korma. Light and creamy. All delicately spiced. And none it felt heavy or oily. 5 stars! This is one of our favorite restaurants. We spent time in India and were craving Indian food being back in the States. Really delicious and Chef Prasad and the entire staff is always very nice and helpful. We love the samosas, tandoori paneer, dal makhni, mother's lamb, chicken tikka masala and biryani. WHERE IS CHEF PRASAD? The food quality and wait time have fallen off a cliff like Thelma and Louise trying to outrun the law. Tonight (Dec 19) we ordered our usual and what we got was -Grilled chicken tossed in with Tikka Masala and par-cooked rice -The Same bland grilled chicken chunks Tossed in with some kind of diluted Biriyani and some hot chilis at the last minute. This is NOT the Chicken Birirani we have been ordering for the last two years. To add insult to injury, we waited 30 minutes past the time the order was to be ready. That's 90 minutes for food that was clearly made taking short cuts. The manager told us two people called in sick. Well, where is the Chef himself? Does he not care that his namesake is putting out food that is below its standards? Why isn't he showing up??? ps The last time we ordered was two Fridays ago and our order was an hour late. That's TWO HOURS from on-line order to pickup, two entrees and plain naan. The order right before that, our order wasn't picked up by the delivery driver AT ALL. We really don't like this trend. Hopefully things will turn around or we'll have to vote with our feet and wallets. read more

Ordered take out last night, and have to say it was excellent. I apologized for our boring, unadventurous order, which consisted of chicken korma, chicken tikka masala and a plain naan! All were terrific, very light sauce, nice flavors, and the chicken was probably the best we've had from take-out. The plain naan was also great. The staff were also very friendly and welcoming. My only complaint, the rice portions are a tad on the small side! That said, this will now be our go-to Indian restaurant. read more

As someone who lived near curry hill in Manhattan for 12 years, and also frequented high end nyc Indian restaurants like Tamarind, I was very impressed with Chef Prasad. It is a few steps above my favorite Indian restaurant in Manhattan. The saag paneer was a whipped cloud of creamed spinach unlike I have had anywhere and far superior. The Chaat eggplant appetizer was another favorite- no photos because too delicious to pause to take any. The was an elevated combination of herbs and spices and it sang! The prawns malai cooked in the tandoori oven were also perfection- a subtle marinade that enhanced the flavor of the shrimp without being too overpowering. Also ordered and recommend the tamarind baby eggplant dish. Outstanding service by Chuck who was knowledgable in answering our many questions and pacing the meal when he noticed we were there for date night. He made our night by recommending the chaat which was one of my favorite dishes in recent memory - truly attentive and gracious. The food here would be winning in NYC and it is even more appreciated in CT where restaurants of this caliber, especially Indian and Asian ones are few and far between. It is hard to find good Indian. This is especially true of a restaurant that stays consistently good. Chef Prasad is very good.

We get takeout from Chef Prasad ~1 week for past 9 months. Before covid, we got about once a month. We appreciate their commitment to health & safety of their employees and customers by not allowing customers inside restaurant (they only do takeout and delivery). Their food is great- I get the navrattan korma and onion kulcha naan regularly. They're popular so give them 30-45 min for pickup orders. read more

I've been following Chef Prasad around for years, this is the third iteration of his restaurants in New Canaan that I'm aware of, and if you like (love!) Indian like I do, you've got to try his food, it's amazing. My litmus test for Indian is chicken tikka masala, and this is the best. I live in Darien, and we have a great Indian place here in town, but I'm very happy to make the trip up to New Canaan for Chef Prasad. All the dishes are great, he's got some twists on classics plus great street food apps and deluxe specials with high end ingredients. Chuck the manager is the icing on the cake, he takes tremendous care of his customers, I can't say enough good about this place. They're only doing takeout now since COVID hit, and only open til 7PM. Do yourself a favor,order online and make the trip to Chef Prasad when they're open, you won't regret it other than that you'll be permanently hooked! read more
