This small place with friendly and helpful staff has good Indian food and decent sized portions. Take out is pretty quick as well if you call ahead! The food isn't usually very spicy (in my opinion) so if you want some heat, you can ask for a bit higher on the scale than you usually would (I typically get medium heat at Indian restaurants, I sometimes go higher than that here!) We called to let them know of the mistake and instead of an apology and an effort to correct their mistake, the woman on the phone insinuated that we were lying. It's really good there. The portion is very generous so I do a lot of take out from them too. Their lunch special is a really good value too, it's very filling with two types of curry( one curry one daal) rice, naan, salad, dessert and either pakora or tandoori chicken. The service is great too. Once they forgot to put one item in our take out menu, when we phoned they delivered it for us. Don't think I'll be coming back here due to this kind of service/ bad experience: I had never been there before. I walked in at 3:28 because their sign outside said lunch specials are until 3:30. When I went in, they refused me, spoke to the manager and refused again, repeating that the special is only until 3:30. Confusing policy, one not worth arguing about. Waited for take out anyway, one dish took exactly half an hour to make, and I wasn't offered water while I waited. Patron next to me was sat at 3:30 and wanted the lunch special and also got refused twice. Very strange how inflexible they were. Okay friends, let me paint you a scene. You're at home and it's a Monday night. You have friends in town who have requested the best Indian food you can muster, but it's 9:30 and everywhere around your place is shutting down for the night. Say you take a chance on a recommendation from Yelp and drive across town to Tandoori Fusion, and arrive there 15 minutes before closing. Most restaurants would laugh and shoo you out the door, rather than seat a table of six. Most, but not all. Tandoori Fusion welcomed us, and surprised me with one of the best Indian food feasts I've had outside of Diwali. What you should know: The dishes come in BIG servings, I'd say near twice of what you get at places like Indian Oven. The sauces are rich and flavourful, and everything comes out of the kitchen piping hot. The Naan was soft enough to sleep on, and the rice was fresh and well done. We ordered butter chicken, malai kofta, mutter paneer, and okra, all of which was fantastic (lots of goodies swimming in sauce!) The raita was cooling, and my mango lassi was excellently balanced. The ambiance is nice, everything is cute and clean, and the service was prompt and friendly. All in all, I'd say that Tandoori Fusion has won my loyalty. I will certainly be returning. read more

I am always a sucker for Indian food. I have a whole Yelp list for it, after all. This place is right near my workplace so I've dipped in a couple of times for a solo meal. Like any Indian restaurant, their dinner menu is designed around family-style sharing, so it's not a great spot to dine by your lonesome after 5. But their lunch special - oh, my, oh, me! Until 3:30pm you can get a $10 veggie lunch that is absolutely delectable. It'll feed you for two meals and the variety and deliciousness is inspiring. It's different every time I go, too. We enjoyed a good meal at Tandoori Fusion. It's a small restaurant with a busy takeout, as witnessed during our sit down meal in the restaurant. The server brought us a flavourful cup of complimentary lentil soup to start. We ordered papri chat, which was the best I've had in a while. Just the right amount of spice, sweet and crunch. Our main was the mixed tandoori plate (lamb chops, chicken, beef and prawns). My husband referred to it as a mountain of meat. It was very good and a generous portion. The aloo Gobi was okay, missing something but I don't know what. The raita was great and the naan fresh. On our next visit we will try a different veg dish since the aloo Gobi disappointed. But definitely will get tandoori meats and papri chat is a must. Service was friendly and just a little slow between appetizer and main course; probably due to take out orders. read more

WOW...I guess I've been sleeping on this place because I live around the corner and apart from a fairly forgettable lunch special, I finally got take out for dinner. We just got 2 dishes: chicken tikka masala (hot) and the chili chicken (also ordered hot). Both had great flavors. Each came with choice of rice or naan. We got one of each. For just my wife and I, after dinner, we still had leftovers (probably enough for lunch for 1 person). The flavors were great, and they didn't disappoint on the spice. I would be interested to try many more of their dishes. You get a 15% discount for pick up, but next time I'd like to eat there and try it out. Finally, I only gave them 4*s because the prices are $14+ per dish, which I think is a bit on the pricey side. Nonetheless, the food quality is great, and I'll definitely be back. read more

I just happened to step in for a quick dinner with a friend and I was very impressed by the food and service! We had a show to catch so we mentioned it to our waitress and she assured us that the food would come out in a timely manner so that we could make our show. We ordered the lamb briyani, palak paneer and some naan. Portions were a lot bigger than I had expected and we had enough leftovers for another full meal. The briyani was absolutely divine and the curry was very creamy and chock full of paneer. Can't wait till I come back again! read more

We were a little worried when we arrived and were the only people in the restaurant for the first half hour or so. When our waitress came out with complementary bowls of the most amazing tomato soup I've ever had the fortune to put into my mouth, any worries were entirely dispelled. Shortly thereafter, the place filled up and there was a constant stream of people picking up take out orders. The food was simply amazing. I'm a big fan of Tandoori fusion and it's now my go-to place for takeout/delivery when I'm feeling lazy and don't want to cook. I usually order for delivery so i can't speak for the ambiance but staff are helpful and after trying a variety of their dishes, the food has been very tasty, fresh and consistent in quality. Very disappointed. we ordered for delivery at 6. They said it would take 50 minutes. 1 hour passed... I called. They said the food was on its way. They said wait 20 more minutes. 30 minutes passed... I called again. They said the food was being packed. WTF? they said 20 minutes tops. 30 minutes passed... I called again. They said the driver was already out and that they would call the driver and see where he was and then call me back in 5 minutes. 15 minutes passed... I called again. They said oh I'm sorry let us call you back in 5 minutes. I said no you said that before where is my food? They said one moment I will talk to the manager. I held on the phone for 10 minutes. They never returned. Food finally came 2 hours and 30 minutes later. They did not say sorry one single time. I understand they could have forgotten my order but be honest about it and say sorry. The food is good but the service is the worst i have ever seen. New Indian restaurants that make good food will definitely take their customers away in the future. Great food and environment. Service has gotten much better over the years. Finally the waiting staff are well versed in English and better in taking orders. Great takeout/delivery option, will have to try dine-in. Portion wise you easily get two meals out of one main dish order. I've tried the lamb rogan josh and lamb vindaloo. The rogan josh is definitely recommend. Great balance of spices and flavours. Though a little pricier than other places each dish includes either rice or fresh naan bread. I ordered their lunch box which came with Lamb curry, plain rice, naan, dahl, chicken tandori, salad, and desert. The curry sauce was delicious, and the portion was big. The lamb was a bit chewy but not a big deal. Tandory chicken was very average and I didn't like the mint sauce though. Dahl was the best part of the lunch box, hot and tasty. Naan was OK. I believe this place is just one of the famous indian places in town, but I have definitely tried better indian foods in Vancouver. read more

I can't say this place is my favourite. The food (palak paneer, aloo gobi and malai kofta) was pretty good but came in pretty small portions, and we're about ~16 each. I came by for lunch and tried to make some simple requests as I am a vegan. I go to a lot of other Indian resteraunts and they can usually accommodate. The server I was dealing with would not budge or help me with anything, she then talked to the owner who refused to speak to me and also had zero intention of helping me out either. When I came here in the past before I was a vegan, I had some bad experiences with the wait staff and The chicken in the butter chicken was always dry and not tender. handi on 12th is close by and much tastier/ more affordable. Food is excellent, and in particular the naan is always perfect, but during my last visit I was shocked when going up to pay. The server asked me and my girlfriend if we wanted to split the bill, we said yes. Upon getting the bill ($24.15 total) I saw written at the bottom "$13.07 each". Thinking this was just a simple mistake, I pointed it out to the server that it should be $12.07 each. She responded with "oh, there's a $1 fee for splitting". Now it's one thing to charge a ridiculous fee for splitting the bill (something no other restaurant I have ever been to does), but to not even tell us is just extremely disappointing. Good food, service, quality, portions are HUGE, you can split Butter Chicken between 2 people, just order extra naan rice choice or naan choice with meal. Choose the rice as it is double the price of the naan. Then order a side of naan bread one is plenty for 2 people, or enjoy take home leftovers, too. Naan bread is made to order, piping hot crisp, soft in the center. My brother in-law claims to be an expert on butter chicken, he was impressed, with portion size, and flavor. Menu, is extensive, could be cut down to popular dishes, take out in the Kitsilano area is a huge part of the business, free delivery over orders of 25 dollars. Tried the lunch special (to go) which included a tandoori chicken leg, butter chicken, dal makhani, naan, salad and dessert. The tandoori chicken leg was delicious. The butter chicken consisted of a few boneless, very tender pieces of chicken, but it was drowning in sauce. Way too much sauce. I mean so much sauce that at first I didn't even realize the chicken was in there. The Dal was only okay. Not too spicy, which is what I asked for. The dessert was about 1/4 cup of mixed fruit lassi. It was fair, not great. I said I didn't want rice, but when I opened the container, there was a huge portion of rice. The rice was in the container with the chicken leg & salad. The salad, which consisted predominantly of red onions, ended up all mixed in amongst the rice. It was nearly impossible to separate the salad from the rice, so basically the salad might as well have been nonexistent. The thing that saved it was that delicious drumstick. Really, that tandoori drumstick was among the best I've ever had. The price for the lunch special was reasonable. Menu prices range from $5-$10 for appetizers, $10-$22 for main courses, with most priced in the $12-$16 range. I'd go again just for the tandoori chicken. read more

This was the first Indian restaurant I tried on my trip to Vancouver and it was a very lucky find. We made the safe order - Chicken Vindaloo and Channa Masala - as we had never eaten here before. The vindaloo was incredibly flavourful and delicious, with tender chicken. The Channa Masala was similarly excellent, with complex flavours and a great consistency to the sauce. The garlic Naan was arguably the best Naan I've tasted. The restaurant was clean and nicely decorated, and the staff were pleasant and efficient. Our server, Kiran, was very polite and nice. The restaurant was also busy, a good sign, and several of the customers I saw were Indian, an even better sign at a restaurant like this. One note: they did not ask how spicy I would like the dishes to be, and brought rather mild food to me. So if you like it hot, be sure to tell them! read more
