There is literally no Indian restaurant I've ever been to that can beat Jolly's in terms of customer service. My family discovered this restaurant around 4 years ago and it's one of our favorite go-to's in Vancouver! I'm pretty sure we've been here so many times that we've tried every single vegetarian dish on the menu. Our favorite dishes are still the kofta and balti paneer. He also occasionally changes up the menu so you never get bored. Apart from great food, this restaurant is a small, family-owned business and the head chef, Jolly, owns the place. He makes every dining experience here personalized and strives to interact with customers when he can. My sister and I were still teenagers the very first time my family went here, and Jolly gave us two free desserts straight from the kitchen! We now know him on a first-name basis and he often prepares special/new dishes for us. How many restaurants can you name in metro cities where the owner is so accommodating?! It's very rare to find Indian restaurants that offer both great food and great service - trust me, I'm from the Bay Area where every block is filled with Indian restaurants. My family and I will always keep coming back to Jolly's!

Came here for dinner and we both ended up with the Thali (one vegetarian and one with meat). I really enjoyed the following: 1) mango lassi 2) samosas (their samosa is served with sauces and chickpeas) 3) eggplant - love the sauce 4) naan bread - love the texture 5) butter chicken - delish 6) ras malai - could have 2 rounds, so good! Service was pleasant and quick!

Possibly the best Indian food I have tried in a few months everything was authentic they have Thala style servings some catering to non south Asians looks like since salad served on every main dish also their naan is not made in a Tandoori but the food taste of their curries are top notch also and serving size is very nice not stingy with portions like other Indian restaurants they must have the owner making the food hope the quality remains Will come back if quality and serving portions continue 5/5 seen too many restaurants start like this and go Down hill time will tell

Very surprised by tough Helpers here, this is a sure winner in Kits if you want Indian-fusion. Healthier than most: no msg and everything except the bread is gluten-free....though with advanced noticed, GF Naan is possible. Known for their lamb, and their $9.99 lunch special can't be beat. Nice decor, date worthy with table cloths and linen. Classy. When not too busy, owner will come out to greet you. Free parking everywhere. Amex good.

A few weeks ago, I went to Jolly's on a warm Saturday evening. The restaurant was small, more of a cafe than a restaurant in size. When I got in, Immediately smelled the aromas of Indian spices. The restaurant was decorated with portraits, and drapes, but the ceiling wasn't covered enough to block out the ugly grey. The waitress was a hit and miss. We were seated quickly, and got our drinks ordered. After 10 minutes, we got our drinks, and started ordering. We ordered.. Vegetable Samosa Butter chicken Punjabi Bhoona Lamb Malabari Chicken Lamb Saag All curries come with basmati rice and naan, which is a bonus, because normally you need to pay extra for those. The wait time for the dishes were EXTREMELY long. Almost an hour. And no apology!? The food was mediocre. There was sufficient amount of meat, but it wasn't traditional. THEY QUOTED... "Inspired from traditional North to South Indian recipes, and enhanced by his culinary skills, Jolly's creations are rich in flavour and aroma, using fresh ground specially handpicked spices from India to ensure a traditional taste to every dish." They didn't TASTE traditional.... Well, here's the deal. Food: Mediocre Service: Mediocre Quality: Mediocre Wait time: TERRIBLE I don't recommend this restaurant Didn't leave Jolly

Half of the chicken in the butter chicken dish, one of the two malai kofta dumplings, with the gross saffron rice and salad

Worst Indian cusine I've ever had. Honestly. I can't believe people dine here. We ordered the pakoras, samosa, butter chicken, malai kofta with rice and naan, as well as a pina colada and a bellini. The pakoras... Basically an onion and potatoes chopped in to a few huge pieces, breaded and fried, with a ton of mediocre sauce and chick peas. And a boat load of cilantro stems (not the leaves) dumped on top. The samosa was OK. Quite big, but you only get one and it's once again slathered in the same sauce as the pakoras, with chick peas and a ton of cilantro (this time we got the actual leaf) I've never seen such a small amount of chicken in a butter chicken dish. We shared it , and we each got 2.5 chunks of chicken. I've never seen that before. The flavor was OK but I'm pretty sure the junk Pataks you get at Save-On is better. Which says a lot. Oh, the malai kofta... One of my favorite Indian dishes. I've never seen it like this. We got 2 big dumplings, that we basically huge chunks of potato with a chunk of paneer coated in some seasoning and sauce with broccoli and carrots. It tasted unlike any malai kofta I've ever had. Such a disappointment. Anddd the rice. Oh my god. You get a small lump of saffron rice that was cold and soooo pungent I couldn't taste anything else. The meal comes with a bizarre green salad with a completely gross dressing on it. As well as garlic naan. The naan was Ok, but very crunchy and salty. If you want to scoop up your sauce with it, good luck to you because it's hard and doesn't bend. If you want a cocktail go for drinks elsewhere, Please. Our drinks were not blended with ice as per usual for these types of drinks, they were simply the liquid ingredients with a few ice cubes in them. No sangria in the bellini either. They might be cheap, but they're pathetic. As for the experience... We were told to pick whatever table the couple in front of us didn't choose. We waited 40 minutes in between appetizer and main, and we watched the kitchen turn out at least 5 to-go orders while we waited for our food. We also asked for no cilantro in our meals, and everything, including the naan had copious amounts of cilantro in it. I can't even believe we wasted $57 here last night.

Tonight (Apr 10'17) we went to Jolly's and had a fabulous dinner! We ordered: - Paneer Pakoras $6 - Lamb Rogenjosh $18 - Chicken Mumbai $18 Each item was different in flavour and uniquely delicious. I would highly recommend each item. Also, our server was lovely. Kind and patient, taking the time to explain the different food items on their menu. So glad to have gone back after more than 6 years. Jolly's continues to serve up an affordable and tasty Indian meal.

The first time I came here was with a group, and I wasn't planning on eating. But I couldn't resist some naam and then shared a dessert of the mango ice cream. Things smelled great, so I knew I needed to come back when I was hungry. On my next trip, it was just two of us. The place was pretty busy, and we waited for some time to even place our order. The water refills were very slow. The butter chicken was good and the rice was average. I believe that they have free wireless, but I don't see this being a place that I would really want to hang out at...

I want to start this review by giving a big shoutout to Pemba who was our server, he was so kind and took such good care of us and recommended really good items based on what we wanted. Everything I tried from here was 10/10! Some stand out items - :: Bombay pomfret fry - OH! The masala and coating on this was sooo good we were sucking on the bones till the very end. Such a great appetizer! :: Lasooni palak burrata - I was a little apprehensive about this at first because burrata and palak didn't seem like something I would want to try but I was wrong! This was one of my favourite dishes. It was such a delicious fusion item. For dessert, I would recommend getting their soan papdi malai khwaab and their malai ghewar. Not too sweet, just perfect. For drinks, aam pana with gin is the way to go. I really cannot wait to come back and order everything again!

I made reservations for us for 4pm, so as to take advantage of their Happy Hour. We went earlier today (a Wednesday) and the place was empty at 4pm. I think it fills up later, for dinner. (I still advise making reservations as you never really know if it's going to be busy). Right off the bat, we were blown away by the interior. It is gorgeous! Small, but gorgeous. The murals, the chandeliers, the bar....and omg, the bathrooms. If you visit, you MUST check out the bathrooms. They have the most fabulous sinks I have ever seen. They didn't have a large selection of HH offerings, unfortunately, but what they did have was amazingly good. My friends who were extremely knowledgeable on Indian cuisine ordered for us, and we shared 3 different small plates (tandoori vegetable momos, cochin cauliflower bites, and some sort of delicious fried onions), and 2 desserts (soan paid malai khwaab, and foxtail millet pudding). And just...wow, everything was SO SO good. The three appetizers were so flavorful and the desserts, unlike anything I've ever had before and simply delicious. We also had drinks (but, of course!). One friend had a mango lassi which she loved, one friend had a high ball which she loved, and I had a mango mojito which I loved. (See a pattern? lol). All was great. Our server, Leesa (not sure of spelling) was so incredibly personable and lovely, and a gentleman I gather is the owner came by twice to make sure everything was okay. We felt like VIPs, with all the care and attention we got. Seriously, the folks here could not be nicer. I'm already planning on bringing my two daughters here. I know they'll love this place. Heck, anyone would love this place. My friends and I all plan on returning. Great great place!

The menu has a lot of options but not too many so that's nice. We ordered the gobi Manchurian to start and it was very yummy, but spicier than expected. At first we asked for a medium spice level when asked during ordering but after eating this appetizer we had to change it to mild for the rest of the order. I would say the spice levels are a lot higher than other places as someone who likes spicy food normally so keep in mind. We also got butter and garlic naans, paneer, and dal tadka. The naan wasn't cooked all the way at first so we had to request another well cooked, and it was better the second time. The paneer and dal was good as well, and so was the basmati rice. The quantity of rice was a lot too. Overall the food and experience here was good.
