    orange chicken with white rice
    Michael S.

I met an old friend for lunch at Chef Wu in Roswell and we were very impressed with the restaurant. This is located in a nice strip mall in Roswell off of Holcomb Bridge Rd. The ambiance is very modern and upscale, and much different from what I have seen in traditional Chinese restaurant, but it was very nice and I liked the difference in the ambiance. The service was decent and Ok, but did not blow me away. The servers were nice and professional, and they did give us good service, so that is all that mattered to me. The food was very good and delicious. I ordered the Orange Chicken lunch special and my friend ordered the Mongolian chicken lunch special. The orange chicken was good and prepared just right. It was very flavorful and the texture of the chicken was perfect. My friend enjoyed her Mongolian chicken as well. It was a nice lunch and a great place to come for Chinese food, so I would recommend Chef Wu to my friends in Roswell if they were looking for a place to eat for lunch.

I ordered the beer duck, which I had never tried before but was thoroughly impressed by the quality and quantity. If you want to impress your guests, order this. It comes with white rice or fried rice for a small fee, but the fried rice was probably the best I've ever had. The service was excellent, and the food arrived on time. My first visit here was a great experience, and if I didn't have to travel an hour, I would return.

If you're craving for a spicy sechuan spot! Come to this place! Its affordable and they have a bar inside too. Staff is great and attentive. They also have a variety of cocktails and wine you can enjoy. Definitely will come back.

We were so looking forward to trying Chef Wu, but what a disappointment. Our first hint should have been how empty it was. The best part of our dinner experience was how pleasant the restaurant decor was. It was down hill from there. We ordered Xiao Long Bao first as our appetizer. Even though we ordered it first while we looked over the menu, one of our entrees was served first, before our appetizer was served. I rate the Xiao Long Bao a 2 out of 5. The skin was a bit dry and chewy and the filling a bit bland. I've had better frozen ones from Costco and Trader Joe's and expected a lot more from Chef Wu. Our two entrees consisted of Three Mushroom Chicken which was good and chicken quite moist and tender thought the flavor lacked any depth in flavor. We were looking forward to the Vegetable Fried Tofu Pot which was very disappointing. Though it looked good with fresh vegetables, the Fried Tofu pieces were on the dry and chewy side and the sauce very one dimensional, that dimension being SALT! It definitely needed rice to eat it with. After finishing my SMALL bowl of rice, I asked for a little more rice. When I got the check, there was a $2 added charge for a small bowl of rice! You would at least expect the waitress to inform me at the time I asked for some. There are so many other good Asian restaurant choices around, so don't bother with this one. Chef Wu was a huge disappointment and we don't plan on ever coming back!

Incredible ambiance, and incredible service! We chose to eat here on a whim, driving back to Sandy Springs from Alpharetta and it was an awesome choice! This is not your typical Chinese cuisine, though they do offer your classic dishes everyone loves. Pig Knuckles and Pig Intestines are a specialty (and authentic) part of their menu. We didn't try any of them, but definitely will next visit. Upscale, but casual enough not to be fine dining--but more upscale than your takeout Chinese restaurant. I love some spice in my life, and order the Szechuan Fried Fish, and in return as you can see in the photo, it's MASSIVE. So delicious, and just enough spice! You can request any spicy dish to the level spice desired! The Homestyle Fried Chicken w/ their homemade sweet and sour sauce was also incredible. Just sweet and savory enough to eat half the plate! We started with the Spinach Bao Bun and they were delicious, and you could tell EVERYTHING was made fresh to order. We will definitely return and with others to join! 100% recommend this spot! Lunch or dinner!

    Home Style Honey Roast Chicken

If you live in the north Atlanta suburbs, Chef Wu is a great option for authentic Szechuan or American Chinese classics. Located in Roswell right off of Holcomb Bridge Road, this easily accessible spot has a spacious interior and is very quick with take out orders. We picked up an early dinner from here and had a an excellent meal. We ordered the cumin lamb, vegetable hot pot, the mapo tofu, the home style honey chicken, and Szechuan style cooked fish. The cumin lamb is a staple from Chef Wu; this time, as usual, it was super tender and well spiced. The lamb comes with onions and peppers and is always a highlight. The vegetable hot pot comes with lotus root, bok choy, cauliflower, wood ear mushroom, bell pepper, and onions. This dish is comprehensive and a good addition if you're looking for some fiber in your meal. The mapo tofu is the most standard of the Szechuan dishes but the numbing spices pair nicely with the rice that comes with it. The home style honey chicken is an American Chinese invention that is like a sweet sesame chicken-type dish without the sesame seeds. Would probably want to try the sesame chicken next time rather than this but it was still tasty. The Szechuan style cooked fish are essentially fried fish fillets tossed in Sichuan peppercorns and red chilis. This is my absolute favorite dish; it's crunchy on the outside, soft on the inside, and seasoned very nicely. Keep in mind that if you bring it home, the pieces might not be crispy when you get home. We always air fry the pieces when we get home but a toaster oven would also work well. Each entree comes with rice if you choose, but the online ordering system allows you to modify this and request no rice or other rice options.

The whole setup is like a mini food hall with several authentic Chinese spots to choose from--but Chong Qing is where I landed. I ordered the crispy chicken with garlic sauce and swapped the white rice for a side of house lo mein (yes, it's an upcharge, but worth it). Everything came out on real dishes--not to-go boxes--which I loved. You order and pay at the counter, grab a seat, and they bring the food out to you. Now let's talk about the food... DELICIOUS. The spice level was just right--flavorful with a nice kick, but not overpowering. If you like it hotter, you can definitely add more heat, but I was perfectly satisfied as is. The lo mein was really good too--veggies were fresh with a nice crisp (those onions and carrots were hitting!), and everything tasted well-balanced. Only small note: I wish there was a little more meat in the dish, but it didn't take away from the overall experience. And let me say this--the portion size is VERY generous. I ate until I was full and still had just as much left to take home, which is always a win in my book. All in all, I'll definitely be back to try more. If you're in Chinatown Market and not sure what to pick, Chong Qing Hot Pot is a solid choice. 4/5 stars for me!

We were a party of 5 and found both the food and the service to be inconsistent. The Food: Most dishes were mediocre or worse. The Three Cups Chicken (1/5) was the worst I've ever had. The Hong Kong Style Shrimp (1/5) was just bland, tasteless fried shrimp. The Lamb with Scallion (2/5) was far too salty. The only "average" dish was the Spicy Beef and Tendon (3/5), but one decent dish can't save a meal this poor. The Service & Billing: The service was quite slow during our visit. We waited a long time for the check and eventually ended up packing our own leftovers and heading to the front counter to pay so we could head out. I was also surprised to see an automatic 20% gratuity added to the bill, especially since it was calculated on the total after tax ($23.07 tip on a $106.80 subtotal). While I understand automatic tips for groups, it felt a bit high due to poor services. There are a lot of great dining spots in the area, but based on this disappointing visit, I'm sure I would not return to this one.
