    *Chicken Lemon Rice Soup*

Service is great. Super nice and very accommodating. Food is fresh and delicious. Had their Greek village salad with Jiro. Yum. Dolmas were really good too. My favorite was the chicken lemon and rice soup. I took my leftovers home and everything was super yum the next day. So glad we tried it out. Looking forward to trying their mouskka next time.

Such a cool twist on a standard breakfast! The Greek food here is amazing but what really blew me away was having the breakfast hash with gyro. It was new for me and delicious! The portions are huge and I reheated my leftovers the next day and it was still amazing. The servers were so nice and attentive, I'll definitely be back!

Reliable and consistently good! Chef Zorba's has been on my repeat list for Denver restaurant for several years now, but this is my first review. This is a true to form casual neighborhood Greek restaurant with a diner feel- think the stereotype portrayed in My Big Fat Greek Wedding! Except they not only have Greek inspired fare but more American fare options as well. Consistently good food and good friendly service! Always clean and well kept. My usual order revolves around breakfast (served all day), the gyros, or any of the other sandwiches! This recent visit, our table ordered the gyro deluxe ($15.90) and the unusual breakfast skillet with lamb/gyro ($14.25). Excellent gyro and opted for chips as a side. Homemade chips that were super crispy and not oily or over-seasoned! With the unusual skillet- I was purposely stepping outside my comfort zone and was impressed with mixing lamb into a breakfast skillet and even more shocked to learn how tzatziki sauce actually complimented this dish! No regrets! Our server was Natasha and she took good care of us.

Chef Zorba's is such a cute Greek diner that gives an old school vibe to the mix of their wonderful options of food. This yelp event hit the spot with Breakfast with our samples. I really enjoyed my table and spoke to some amazing Yelp elites that I sat with. My Pita Breakfast was really good and satisfying. Karen was super nice and polite and she catered to my table provided us what we wanted off the menu. I highly recommend Chef Zorba's Cuisine located in downtown Denver. Very well done, thank you for this opportunity Yelp Elite Squad.

I arrived at 715am on Sunday. I saw 2 tables occupied. I sat at a comfy booth. I was served by Rachel G. She brought out a hot coffee (free refills) and a large glass of Ruby Red Grapefruit juice. I opted for a big breakfast, Village Unusual Skillet. Large amount of hash browns topped with chicken fried steak, gravy and 2 eggs over hard. Very good. Great service. I waited awhile. Then got a parfait glass of house-made rice pudding. Yummy dessert. No service charge. Their menu has a nice range of breakfast, lunch and dinner items. While there, I saw two groups of Denver Police officers and more patrons sitting on the sidewalk patio. They have 2 gender free restrooms. Plenty of free street parking.

This place truly teleports you to Greece with the food and service! The portions are big and family style which is perfect for big parties or small ones who love leftovers. I started with the chai latte which was delicious and got try dolmathes for the first time. The food doesn't feel heavy which lets you enjoy yourself through the different courses. I was able to get the gyro with chicken instead of lamb/beef with a side of fries. However, my favorite was the Greek salad! It was very refreshing with a delicious vinaigrette dressing. Ended with some dessert and could not rave enough about their baklavas. Unfortunately I did not get anything from the breakfast menu but people around me did and they all loved it! The portions are big so definitely come hungry. Lastly, when it comes to the service I was truly impressed on how quick and attentive they were. I recommend this place for breakfast and dinner!

Had a great dinner here, a total 180* from when I used to visit Chef Zorba's when I lived around the corner at The Carolyn Apartments many years ago. The current rendition run by Karen, the owner and her wonderful staff is a beautiful addition to one of my favorite neighborhoods in all of Denver. The food, ambiance, and the comfort of the restaurant made for a fine evening for the group I was with. Everyone appeared to have a great time with many ordering various entrees that covered the positive spectrum of neighborhood dining taken to a much higher level. The Athenian salad was a masterful hit! The plate of dolmades, tomatoes and cucumbers along with pitas and pimento dip and light and flaky spanakopitas were great appetizers! My gyros plate was moist, filled to the max with tomatoes, onions, more pita and French fries... WOW, I brought the delicious baklava home! Perfect dinner! Upscale entrees and other appetizers that I viewed from my dining companions... steak kebabs, thick pork chops, Mousaka, lemon chicken rice soup, breakfast for dinner pancakes, eggs, home fries, bacon... everyone was smiling and happy at the table. What a fine time enjoying home cooked food taken to a higher level at a neighborhood venue. We will return, highly recommend!

Came with a friend to try this spot! Always walk by it and finally pulled the trigger. I got the gyro and the onion rings. Food was delicious and well executed! Small mom and pop spot serving flavorful food. Service was great and swift. ambiance gave you family kitchen which are Alwyas perfect.

The food was okay. Don't order fries as they seem like they were freezer burned before cooking and were very stale. The falafel was delicious but very small serving. They will up charge you for each item. Like $1 for a small side of ranch?! Our waitress never came around and asked how food was after it came out and our drinks were empty during the meal. I remember coming to this restaurant a year ago and it was a much better experience.

    Patty melt
    Georgia M.

Chef Zorba's is a neighborhood classic yet the food is mid quality at best. The lemon chicken soup is rated as one of the best in the city but it has close to no flavor and I always end up adding more salt, pepper, and even lemon. This restaurant is expensive and overall low quality. The best thing I've ordered was a patty melt that was $20. Not worth the price. Service is excellent which is why my rating isn't one star.

    Athenian Salad w/ gyro

Like many others, we discovered Chef Zorba's for a convenient lunch given its proximity to the beautiful botanical gardens. It was clear this has been a popular neighborhood breakfast/lunch diner-ish place for a long time, but it was also apparent it was recently refreshed with a nice decor. I mean, I took a picture of the bathroom! As far as the food, it was filling and satisfying, but nothing particularly special. I'm a big fan of Greek salads, so I ordered their "famous" Athenian salad with gyro. The red wine vinaigrette didn't do a whole lot for me, and the gyro was a bit dry and oddly crumbly...like pieces that fell off or were leftover from slicing. Yet, the variety in the salad, including egg, grape leaves, and salty feta, olives, and pepperoncini was nice.

This place is clean and well decorated. Always different going into a Greek restaurant vs an American one. Staff noticed us right away, even though they were tending to a large table. We were still greeted and seated quickly. Orders were taken and brought out really quick! We couldn't understand some of the complaints by previous reviews, maybe just bad happenstance. The food is good, larger gyros than Gyroz restaurant serves. Not knocking them, just comparing. My only suggestion for them is to add feta and have the Tzatziki sauce already on the gyro if you're eating in. The Baklava was also good; although I think they use a sugar syrup instead of honey, but still delicious! Overall good experience and good food. We noticed their breakfast options and will probably be back sometime to try their breakfast too.

Stuffed bell pepper with chicken shwarma and greek cheese. Absolutely delicious.

Best gyros outside greece and service is Impeccable. Keep an eye out for the specials they are absolutely amazing.

    Change in ownership or management?

Chef Zorba's was founded by Alex Pappas in 1979. Dimitrios and Shellie Tsiopelas purchased the business in 2004. Karen LuKanic took over in May 2018. I'm not aware of any more recent changes.

Are the Gyros authentic or are they made with pre-processed meat? I'm looking for a traditional hand-stacked Gyro "cone" and not pre-cooked compressed cardboard.

The interior is charming with a slim upper level row of tables. The food! Oh my! Some of the best food I've had eating out for a long time! I'm so glad I chose the combination plate which gave me the choice of 3 entree portions and soup or salad. I had the soup avogolemono and spanakopita, moussaka, and chicken souvlaki over rice. (Sorry if I spelled these wrong) All three were divine! The seasoning each one was complex and so flavorful. These chefs know how to cook great food! The only thing that was a bit uncomfortable, is that the restaurant was really hot! I ordered a dessert that was described as similar to a flan. I was expecting something cold, but it was hot out of the oven! So it came home with me and I will chill it before finishing. It didn't occur to me that it could be a warm dessert. It was a very tasty rich, thick custard with a lite creamy sauce sprinkled with cinnamon. My overall experience was fantastic due to the delicious food and friendly staff. My server was extremely attentive- I regret that I don't recall his name as I'm writing this, but I'm sure it can be figured out! He said he's worked with the family for around 20 years. It was piled high with the most delicious gyro & other meets, veggies, salad, feta, and olives. the platter came with more tzatziki and pita and a delicious and light dressing.
