This place is one of my favorite places to eat. Their food is very good. Their beef dip sandwich with fries and salad is EXCELLENT. I knew the owner's dad, who was the previous owner (BOB). May he rest in peace. His son, David and his wife own the restaurant, I think and it has been well run for many years. Mostly older people eat here and a whole lot of really nice customers and/or employees have either moved, retired, or passed away. The waitresses, busboys and waiter are always superb. I think they are shut down temporarily because of the Corona Virus. But I hope and pray they return, because I love this place. read more

The restaurant's setting is a old-fashioned neighborhood restaurant. Parking lot size is okay. The food serving was good and ample. What really impress me the most about this place is the many times the waitress came by to inquire if everything is fine and to re-fill coffee. Wow! In most chain restaurants, the waitress will only come once if you are lucky after the food has been served. The food pricing is fair. It is nice and quiet and near the corner of the street on Live Oak Avenue. If I was doing a film shoot for a 1950 to 1960 restaurant, this location is ideal. This place is a blast from the past. A true diner- tucked away in Arcadia. I'd describe the food as "diner comfort food", perfect for that weekend morning, when you just want to roll out of bed and eat something warm, yummy, and "traditionally" American. The food is priced right, service is good - friendly staff. Today I tried the French Toast, it was tasty. A word to the vegetarians out there, breakfast is the only meal that will allow you a wide variety of options. This is a very cute place for breakfast or lunch. I had the Pancake sandwich which was not much food. My husband Hono omelette looked a lot better then what I ordered. Portions are average. The best part was the bid items and gravy. Our server was very nice. I like the nostalgia of the place. They were also accommodating to my service dog which always a plus. They also have really good coffee so make sure you grab a cup if you there. It's not watered down like most coffee shops. 5 stars on their Biscuits and Coffee. Ps. This is the place to go when I'm looking for a close to home cooked traditional American breakfast. It's a place a lot of the local folks who have been around for a while; they like to come and sip on their coffee and read the paper. The food is average here but it's good enough and they do offer a pretty big variety on their menu. I've tried the pigs in a blanket, chicken salad sandwich, waffles some other stuff but nothing really too amazing to rave about. I've been coming here for years with my daughter. It's always been reasonably priced for there average/tasty food. Over the years I noticed that the prices have gone up and that the service(friendliness) has been lacking. Today I asked to substitute the hash browns with some sourdough toast. It was never a problem in the past. When I was paying I noticed I got charged almost 3 dollars extra for the 99 cent store toast which also came about halfway through our meal. When I asked the server if he could give me a list/receipt he told me "you could have just taken a picture" Seriously??? Been going to this place for as long as I can remember. Its my grandpas favorite. I assume because they have all you can eat ribs on, certain days, cant remember which. Warm servers and good food. Portions are generous and we went there several times using a 10% off special from the Temple City High discount card. Omelettes are always my favorite. Pancakes are decent although I dont think it beats IHOP's. Coffee is decent, just like a diner's brew coffee would. Ordered steak and Popeye Omelette, not tasty but not awful, very plain. Just those stuffs you can get from Denny's with better service. You don't think Denny's serve better? Then this place is even worse. The same waiter dropped my credit card on the floor when checking out, instead of helping me to pick it up or apologize, he just stood there and said "it tried to get away from me." O.o Nope, I just eat a lot LOL So, I came here for the first time for an early morning meal with my friends/coworker. My friends got there before me, so when I got there, I already had a table. I started my day with a cup of coffee (a must if you know me). I ordered the eggs and bacon (2 of each), which came with hashbrown, toast and jelly, and a grapefruit slice. My coworker had the breakfast burrito, and my friend had the omelette. My coworker didn't want his side order of fruit salad, so he gave it to me. Yesssssss, feed the hungry ^___^ hahaha jk. The coffee was good, and not too acidic. The hashbrown was lightly seasoned. And bacon was perfect. It wasn't over cooked, thus, providing that crispy/chewy consistency. The eggs are just like any other eggs lol. There's not much to it. Toast was good! Fruit was fresh. No complains. The waiter came back periodically to refill our coffees. He was very attentive. I love it here! My fiance and I come as often as possible. Everything is homemade, the atmosphere is comfortable and cozy, and we love all of the people. They have daily specials that include a main course, soup, salad, and dessert for around $10! Even if you don't get the daily special, you get a lot of bang for your buck here. Great mom and pop spot! Decor is classic diner with awesome details like vintage inspired ceiling fans and lighting fixtures. Staff is super friendly and had great food recommendations for first time diners. I had the chicken and waffles and definitely preferred them to Roscoes! Also ordered fresh fruit although it wasn't on the menu, they whipped up some sliced strawberries, bananas and oranges for me. The Hobo omelet was delicious; mushrooms, onion, bacon, tomato, cheese, came with delicious green salsa on the side and house fries (not french fries, seasoned and freshly diced). My wife and I come here at least once a week (usually for Dinner) and find the food good. One of the few restaurants where you get both soup and salad and a dessert when you order a meal. Prices are better than Denny's or IHOP. On the down side if your in a hurry you'll be disappointed, expect to be there at least 30 minutes. The servers are all very friendly and the atmosphere is one that definitely makes you feel at home and welcome. They're even open to custom orders, within reason. This is a cute little diner that looks probably exactly the same as it did in the 1960s. I personally really enjoy these kinds of places and their quirky characters. It's a little cluttered and run down but that's part of the charm. However, last time we came in it was actually dirty. And messy. There were a bunch of supplies on the counter right near where we were sitting that never got moved or put back where they belong. So there were people eating right next to a tray full of clean flatware and a stack of napkins that presumably was going to get rolled up and sent out to tables. Kind of gross. Also, they are always understaffed. I always feel bad for staff when this happens, because it isn't their fault, management is to blame. However, this last time, the server was griping to the customers. I did not get a single refill of coffee during my meal, and we were sitting right there at the counter. When I finally flagged the server down after our food was gone and we were ready for the bill, she did tell me to hold on because she had to take an order. When she went to that table behind me to take the order, I heard the customers complain that they have been waiting a long time, and the server kind of lectured them about how she had to go in order. I mean, it's nice that she is paying attention to who comes next, but she was being a bit hostile to the customers. It was a fact that everyone was having to wait quite a long time. I saw people coming in and not getting their orders taken or getting their food over most of the time that we were sitting there and eating. We came in before the rush so we didn't wait that long to order, but we literally never saw the server again and it was really a bummer not having coffee. Service was slow last time I was here as well (almost an hour from sitting down until we got our food, and it was around 2pm- not a super busy time.), but I thought that it was because we came with a very large party for a work lunch. The food is pretty good diner food, though. All three stars are for the food. They have an extensive menu with all of the breakfast staples served all day, plus lots of options for lunch and dinner. The hash browns taste fresh, in general the food tastes fresh made, not just pulled out of the freezer and popped into a microwave. The pancakes are especially good here. But when we asked to move booths because we were too cold (i have a 10 month old and a 4 year old) our waitress went to ask the girl in charge and gave our waitress a hard time and didn't let us move!! I was so bothered. And then when we paid the girl that didn't let us move was so rude. Didn't ask us how we liked the food or didnt even acknowledge us. She was so polite with everyone else.
