I have a trusted knife sharpener, but wanted to give Chef's Toys Knife Sharpening services a try because it's close to my work. Bad decision on my part. When I got back my "sharpened" knives, one of them had nicks and burrs. I don't know if you can see in the photos. The bottom part of the blade feels chewed up and rough. I had two other knives sharpened and they're not as sharp as when I've had them done with people who know what they're doing. I will only go back to see ask if they can fix the one with the nicks. After that, never again. I'm actually scared to have them touch my knife again, but it's want them to be aware of the lack of quality. Warranty Experience with Chef's Toys and Mulberry Technology Initial Purchase and Expectations In 2023, we invested a total of $26,472.61, which included taxes and two warranty insurance plans, for a 3-door KINTORA refrigerator and a 2-door KINTORA freezer. Our initial experience was smooth and hassle-free, largely thanks to our salesperson, Estaban Aguirre. Unfortunately, we later discovered that Estaban was no longer with the company. The Issue Arises On March 6, 2026, the hinge of our 3-door KINTORA refrigerator broke, rendering the refrigerator unusable. Since we had purchased a warranty, we immediately reached out to Estaban for assistance, only to learn from Raul Flores that Estaban was no longer employed with Chef's Toys. Raul provided us with contact information for Mulberry Technology, who was supposed to handle our warranty claims. Challenges with the Warranty Process This marked the beginning of a frustrating ordeal. It quickly became apparent that Chef's Toys was not well-acquainted with Mulberry Technology. Raul initially gave us an incorrect contact number for starting our claim. He directed us to Joshua Wohl at Mulberry, who, while not involved in claims processing, was helpful enough to connect us with the appropriate department--after we had already experienced several unhelpful responses from Raul. After sending our purchase order to Karime, our contact at Mulberry, we learned that Chef's Toys had never registered our protection plan with Mulberry or transferred the necessary funds for our warranty. We attempted to follow up with Raul but received no response until we escalated our concerns to Chef's Toys' corporate office. Unfortunately, reaching out to their main line at 714-662-2433 during business hours of M-F between 9am-5pm only led to a voicemail, and our emails through their website also went unanswered. This is TERRIBLE! Resolution and Lingering Frustrations Eventually, Raul from Chef's Toys responded and offered a courtesy repair for our refrigerator door but informed us that our remaining warranty coverage would not be honored. This was frustrating, as we had already paid for the warranty. During this period, on March 25, the Health Department visited and deducted points from our inspection due to the non-functional equipment. We promptly notified Raul about the urgency, as another inspection was scheduled for April 6. Fortunately, the Health Department accepted our communication with Raul and a photo of the completed repair as proof. The entire process--from the breakdown on March 6 to the repair on April 6--took a full month. This delay was disappointing, especially given that waiting for a part should not have justified such a lengthy timeline; someone could have delivered the part to expedite the repair. read more

I'm here periodically as a restaurant owner when I need some right away, they have a huge supply of equipment and parts in stock. All the people that work there are seemingly from the restaurant industry and really another stuff. Phong is who you want to talk to, he knows his stuff. Came in for a few things, one of which were some new legs for my griddle. My griddle is pretty old and the thread size is bigger than anything made now. He did his best, but as I was walking out, he told me he would check some of the old equipment in back they pull out of old locations when they do new equipment installs. He pulled some legs the exact size I needed it off an old griddle! This was something he didn't have to do but really wanted to help me out. Completely disappointed and in fact furious with this location or whomever they sent my knives too. I sent them my knives to be sharpened and may I add for the first time. Both blades came out almost destroyed. They were chipped, marked, and uneven. Parts of the blade were taken off. There is no symmetry as it used to be before I turned it in to them. A few weeks ago, I visited your store for the first time while researching options for my new restaurant. Unfortunately, my experience was disappointing. As I was browsing, I was approached by a tall, thin, Caucasian man with glasses who came across as rude and overly pushy. Instead of engaging in a conversation to understand my needs or offer genuine help, he seemed entirely focused on making a quick sale, guessing at what I might want without really listening. His approach felt unprofessional and made me uncomfortable. Although I will say on a positive note, that I noticed the three women at the counter, all working hard to assist other customers with no aggressive attitude or pressure. I suppose I was just left with the bad seed. The salesperson's aggressive attitude left me with a very poor impression of your business. I was hoping for a more welcoming and professional environment, especially since I'm looking for suppliers for my new restaurant. Sadly, after this experience, I don't plan to return. read more

I usually shop at Chef's Toys Anaheim location, but since I was in the area I decided to stop by this location for some more toys I needed. I walked in shortly after they opened and was warmly greeted by a gentleman standing behind the counter. Maybe it's my imagination, but this store seems to have a bigger footprint/sales floor than the Anaheim location, but I could be wrong. This location is well stocked and the aisles are clean and orderly. I found the dough docker I was looking for and knew it was time to me to check out and practice self control before buying more toys here as I always do. Prices are reasonable, especially if one finds it on-line with another retailer, but the added shipping costs makes it worthwhile to make a drive instead to a Chef's Toys location and buy it there. read more

I've been a loyal client of Chefs'Toys since the late 80's when Steve, the previous owner, was at the time coming with his only van at the time, to the hotel where I was a cook to sharp our knives and sell small equipment. then over the years as I became a chef, an executive, an owner and operator and now a consultant for other businesses in many counties of southern CA. I always went to Chefs' Toys for my professional and private needs or directed my clients there. From full kitchens to partially remodeling or upgrades or just for a little personal gift to friends and myself. Yesterday July 3rd I was in OC and went to the Fountain Valley location to re-buy a small knife that I regularly buy for different reasons. I knew exactly what I wanted but didn't find it in the appropriate section. So I went to the counter and talk to a gentleman about my item. The gentleman didn't really put too many thoughts to it and went back to his desk and to his occupations. A lady, Ashley, who was at a different section of the counter heard my request and decide to jump in trying to help me. She actually did a search on her computer to try to identify the item according to my descriptions. I couldn't remember the brand, but she understood what I was looking for. So, she courteously took me to the shelf in the store, leaving her station, to recommend other items that could correspond to my needs. At the end of the day, doesn't matter if I found the exact product I was coming for in the first place. But to have a knowable and caring associate trying her best to help a client even if I was looking this time for a small item, this attitude made my day and comfort me to stay loyal to this organisation. read more

I used to be a frequent Chefs' Toys customer until recently - their pricing has skyrocketed! I attended their parking lot sale and it left a lot to be desirable.. assortment was overwhelming and some of the items weren't as good of a deal like previous sales. I stumbled upon Action Sales and Webstaurant, and they offered much better deals! For example, True T-49 was priced much better at Action Sales, and Cambro containers are priced much better online at Webstaurant! I highly encourage you to check out other places prior to coming here. They just don't offer the same deals as prior years. A shame! read more

I love that they have so many options and overflowing amount of products to choose from. The staff is not so friendly and doesn't seem to want to be helpful. This is just for the review below from VeeVee. Clueless people shouldn't walk into a store to bag on its prices and then say they weren't "helped" by anyone. First of all, this isn't a shoe store where associates walk around to ask you seven times if you need any help. This is meant for folks who need this type of equipment and supplies to run their business or for home enjoyment. When you go to target, does ANYONE ask you if you need help? No you have to ask someone and they barely give you an answer. Gotta love how she explained she's broke and not a chef so right there, she should be going on to Amazon and buying the cheap stuff like so many others. Chefs toys, although not inexpensive, has quality stuff that's not meant for people who want the deep discount and non quality stuff. Anyway that review just annoyed me and people should understand. I came here deliberately to get my knives sharpened today and I was bummed to find out that they now require you to leave your knives there overnight. They used to be able to do it on the spot and I really didn't understand what the guy was saying about it being a liability issue doing them on the spot. The knife sharpening is still $3 per knife so it's reasonable. However, the reason why I used to come here was because they did it on the spot. Otherwise, I would've taken them to Sur La Table which also requires an overnight stay and you pick them up the next day. I really dislike the idea of leaving my knives overnight but I guess I have no choice with this new policy. At Sur La Table, you pay by the inch of your knife. I had 2 smaller knives and 2 larger knives so it worked out in terms of price this time. If you only have small paring sized knives, it'll be cheaper to bring them to Sur La Table. read more

You have done everything they asked for, yet you still have to follow up weekly just to get past around, and still no solution or a proper response. Final update 9/8 As per the below, I took my Global knives back to be re-sharpened correctly. This was no hassle and they've been slicing tomatoes beautifully for the past couple of weeks. Thank you for Great Customer Service. ********************** I've been getting my Global knives sharpened at Chefs toys ever since I moved to CA in 2010. Twice a year, like clockwork, and I've always been happy even though the price per knife went from 75 cents to $4.00. It WAS worth it. When tomato season starts I always get my knives sharpened. But this year I am disappointed and unhappy. $4.00 per knife and they were both not very sharp and did not hold what edge they had. Before I finished slicing the first tomato the knives were failing to cut the skin. I can and have done better with my home sharpener. In fact, I sharpened them myself immediately and they were much improved! I'll try one more time but if the results are the same I'm going to be looking for a new knife sharpening place Very disappointing. ********************** Updated 8/26 I just got a message from Tara J (owner) telling me to contact the store manager and bring my knives back for free re-sharpening.
