Amazing place. Just-Passing-Through 2024, and we hit on this place. A small hole in the wall but that's where it gets good! First, Chile relleno, how I judge all Mexican restaurants. A+. The plate came with one relleno (all you need) with rice and beans. The relleno was dark green, firm and spicy with a wonderful cheese. The sauce was excellent. Hubs had a carnitas taco and a chicken taco which were excellent and we shared a simple cheese quesadilla. Best I've ever had. This isn't Taco Bell. Their tortillas are hand made in house as are their chicharrons. These aren't your store-bought bagged oddness. If you've ever shied away from this snack, don't here. Great food stop in a supermarket parking lot just off the freeway. We were driving across the 40 and looking for a new spot in Barstow. The seating area is small. A table opened up as we ordered. Our lunch was perfect. They have many meat choices; chicken, carne asada, carnitas, cueritos, buche, al pastor, fried pork skin, etc. Lots of drink options including fresh aguafrescas, soda, even mexican coke. They gave us salsas with our dining service. The red is very tasty. I really enjoyed the green. It was fresh & herbaceous. The grilled jalapeno was like trying to eat a microwaved jelly donut. It was soo good, but very hot temperature-wise that I had to stop eating my burrito to let the jalapeno cool enough to enjoy. Driving to California we stopped off here to get some nourishment. Not sure if their ac was broken, or they just don't have one... But it was hotter inside than sitting in their outdoor seating. It took a while of standing in that hot place before anyone acknowledged us and came to the front to take our order. It's definitely a hole in the wall and would probably be best to just order pick up ahead of time. The carnitas and carne asada taco were full of flavor, and their salsa is super flavorful. The pollo taco was a bit salty. I got their water melon fresca. It was way to sweet, water melon already is a sweet drink so they could really hold off on how much sugar they added. I used my extra lime and squeezed it in my drink. Honestly if they added some limes to it the flavor would be so much better, not just one note. They do have chunks of water melon in the beverage though which was nice. The carne asada and carnitas along with their salsa is really what keeps this place at a four stars instead of three. Absolutely without a doubt, the very best tacos I've ever had. I'm from Alaska and never pass up an opportunity to stop at a taco truck. My husband was disappointed when we pulled up. He got some super dry tacos at another place yesterday and just wasn't feeling tacos again. I told him this place has a 5 star review, and he reluctantly agreed to eat here. We got the carnita and pollo tacos and they were so good, there is not one single thing that could have made them better. From the homemade taco shells, to the moist, well seasoned pork, I can't say enough good things. ( I do like fresh lime and salt on mine) The man who took our order was very friendly and helpful. Excellent small hole in the wall authentic family run business. I asked about the recommended meat for the tacos, and the lady said their carnitas and al pastor were most popular. I can see why. The al pastor was tender and the carnitas were flavorful. The homemade tortilla with toasted edges were very good. It came with lime and chopped onions/cilantro, but I really appreciated the sautéed onions that gave extra flavor. The red and green salsas in little bottles were perfect. We also got 1/2 pound of chichuron. The flan had light texture and sweetness (no caramel). I saw a family ordering the carnitas by the pound making tacos with tortillas from a warming pot so you know this is a go to for locals. The guy was so nice telling us to not worry about getting up to pay for the drinks my husband ordered later until after we finished eating. The food was great! It was Fresh and tasteful. I had a simple and tasty cheese quesadilla and a carne asada sope. My definition of a sope is a tostada ala Gordita with a base of refríes beans, carne asada, lettuce, onions , cilantro and a dollop of sour cream. It was very tasteful and yummy. The thick Gordita base was tasteful and slightly crunchy- I liked that. The cheese quesadilla was a large flour tortilla with lots of a great flavorful cheese. There was a red and green puréed sauce to dip or sprinkle on one's meal. I tried both, and I liked both. I didn't use a whole lot because I was passing through town, and I didn't know if it would upset my stomach. I had a 1/4 of my quesadilla leftover and 1/2 of my sopes de carne asada. The portions are generous. Oh yes, the gentleman at the counter was sooo nice. We came in 20 minutes to closing, and we still sat down to eat without feeling rushed. Environment is simple and basic. Super casual, and while waiting for our order, there several people who arrived for take out orders. It is promote set up as a takeout place, but since the YELP reviews were positive, we decided to try it out, and it was worth the stop. read more

Went for the first time today. I had 2 carnitas tacos and 2 al pastor tacos. Super flavorful love the handmade tortillas. Wow. What a great local spot. Tiny place with huge flavors. Friendly staff and a clean bathroom. The gorditas and mulitas were savory and crunchy and juicy. Don't get the "fresh" potatoe chips though, stale and unseasoned. We love agua frescas and the watermelon and horchata were tasty but a little heavy handed on the sugar. Had lunch there today on our way back home. I got three tacos, 2 were Carnitas and one was Carne asada. All three tacos were very good. They were full of meat(not skimpy with their portions) and it was clear the tortillas were homemade. Very good place to eat. The only problem we had was that their air conditioning was not working very well. When it is 109 outside having air conditioning is important. read more

No fat on any of it. Plenty of meat to fill the tacos and mulitas. They did not hold back. Could barely finish the one mulitas. Husband had the sope, topped with lettuce, crema grilled sliced onions and a side of charred jalapeño. This place definitely did not disappoint. They had an extra spicy oil based salsa.
