Coast International Inn Anchorage…read more I hadn't stayed here in over a decade, back from my early Slope days, and returning felt like stepping into familiar territory. The place is old, sure, but it carries its years with a certain dignity call it character. My room was clean and respectable: two generous beds, unstained carpet, a sizeable bathroom, a proper desk and chair, refrigerator, television, and a grand window that made the room feel rather stately. And with the Christmas decorations giving the place a warm, homely charm, it felt downright welcoming. For the price and the short hop to the airport, I fail to see the complaints. It's good, honest lodging that does exactly what it promises.

I didn't spend a ton of time here, as I had driven up from Seward and checked in around 8:30 PM, checking out at 10 am the next morning. Staff was nice, room was clean and comfortable and the proximity to the airport can't be beat. One challenge: The hallways and stairs are a maze and it's a slog to your room. There's an onsite restaurant where I was able to get a to-go breakfast sandwich before my flight. Enjoyed the lobby and fireplace seating in the morning to decompress before my trip home. I'd say a one or two night stay here is convenient and comfortable. Would reserve here again if I were passing through Anchorage.

We had a really long drive on 5/15/2026, and checked in around 6 pm and Eurina L, was pleasant and friendly, and made us feel welcome! While I had booked my room through a third- party company, she found our reservation and was able to change us from a king bed to two double beds. That's great customer service. She even asked us what floor we would like to be on. I think she could see how tired we were from driving, so she gave us a nice room on the1st floor which was very convenient - since we knew we would be coming and going from our truck to our room. She made a great choice.. we were close to our vehicle so we didn't have to walk far to unpack our vehicle. Our room was cozy with a heater and an air conditioner. The beds were comfortable and there was great water pressure for the shower. Thank you to Eurina for making our evening welcoming and enjoyable. A second shout out to Boyd, at breakfast. Boyd was busy giving all the patrons their requests. I only saw him at breakfast and he was working hard but he was still friendly and helpful. He actually cared you could tell, that we got exactly what we needed for breakfast. The fruit was great and the hot meal was tasty. Thank you to both Eurina and Boyd for the hospitality. We appreciate you!!

Unfortunately everything is a bit outdated and musty here. There was a strange smell throughout the hotel at all times. The lobby is large and beautifully decorated, very on brand for Alaska. My room was decently clean, but smelled horrible. And I mean horrible. I do have a cat so I stayed in a pet friendly room, however it smelled like a wet dog lay all over the beds and no one cleaned it. I had to keep the window open my entire stay for my own survival. The staff was very nice! That's the biggest plus in this hotel. They are also have two restaurants and a coffee bar so you don't have to travel far for a quick meal.

The prices are lower than other nearby hotels, but still high for what it is. The hotel is very dirty and smells like cat pee to. The hallways leading to my room were stained and stunk. My room itself was very dirty with dirt and trash on the floor. I couldn't even walk barefoot. All the bedding had stains on them. One room had no lights. The nightstand had toilet paper stuffed in it to keep the drawers closed. I did not feel comfortable staying here and I have stayed in rougher hotels before. The room was absolutely disgusting. There was mold everywhere, especially around the air conditioner. The carpet looked like it hadn't been cleaned in years, and the entire room smelled like mold mixed with cat urine. It was obvious the room had not been properly cleaned before we arrived. The "clean" towels had long black hairs in them, which was revolting. We also found small roach-like bugs crawling around the room. To make matters even worse, someone had put tape over the fire alarm. That alone is a serious safety concern. I can't say enough about how filthy this place was. We seriously considered leaving, but there were no other accommodations available nearby when we checked in late that night, so we felt stuck. This property should not be renting rooms in this condition. It needs a complete deep cleaning, mold remediation, and a serious inspection. Save yourself the money, the frustration, and the health risk. Stay somewhere else. I am beyond disappointed and honestly furious that we paid to stay in a room like this.

After a 5.5 hour flight we were looking forward to a nice shower and comfortable bed. But upon arriving to the Barratt Inn we were welcomed by a broken elevator, half-made beds with burn holes on the sheets from cigarettes, dirty pillows, bed bugs around the mattress seams and a strong scent of cigarette smoke permeating the room. To top it off the smoke detector in the room was taped shut with a plastic bag...probably to not set it off while smoking. Immediately we walked down to the front desk to ask for a refund but were told it wasn't possible. After some back and forth the less-than-pleasant front desk clerk refunded us for one night but we had to eat the rest. We would definitely not recommend this hotel to anyone. If I could I would rate it a negative star. This place was bustling with underground activities.

We had only a few interactions with the people who worked there but the desk was always manned, and the clerks were kind and helpful. Someone back there was singing along, and it made me happy. ;) There was snow but the parking lot was well-plowed and parking was always available. The one way streets in the area make driving to nearby stores and restaurants kind of a chore (more difficult than in many other areas) but there's nothing the hotel can do about that! It's not a super fancy hotel but it was nice enough and welcoming enough for our needs.

Twice in my two-day stay, I went to the front desk for assistance only to see a sign saying there was no one available for a bit. That's the simple version. Other times that I did receive service, it was very slow. Lastly, although the rooms are nice, the amount of outside noise that makes it's way through your room is crazy. It's just a constant symphony of kids running the halls, maids opening/closing doors for cleaning, etc.

Apparently they share service with a Wingate hotel. Once we finally got to their lobby, there's a large number of people needing to check in, however there's only 1 staff at the desk. An already registered guest was also at the desk asking for the staff to warm up food because her room's microwave doesn't work. Staff was willing to take her food to the kitchen, but after he finished with the people who need to check in. She waited a few minutes, then went back up to the desk saying it's taking too long. In situations like this there needs to be a manager in the back, or another staff, esp if they are expecting people (have incoming reservations like ours). We got to our room and it's mediocre. Pros: vent/ fan in the bathroom, and good water pressure. Cons: pillows uncomfortable, no laundry bag so bring your own (I always do), no USB ports so bring charger blocks, odd disposable bottles of shampoo & conditioner. I forgot to mention that the lady who was asking for her food to be earned also said her shampoo/ conditioner refillable bottles were empty. Staff told her that is s in purpose, because they're getting rid of reusable toiletries dispensers. Huh?? Going back to disposable when most other hotels are changing to refillable? Breakfast was also mediocre as expected.
