Good food, good service, extensive menu, and great senior prices. It is hard to go wrong at Cheliz for breakfast or lunch.

Their red chilaquiles are my favorite super crunchy, flavorful, and served in generous portions. They're actually famous for their green pork chilaquiles, but since I don't eat pork, I always go for the red ones and they never disappoint.

We had a great experience here for breakfast today. Tabby, our waitress was friendly and attentive. We didn't have to ask one time for iced tea refills. I had the veggie omelet with fruit. The vegetables were crisp and fresh, the fruit was great. Loved the ice cold watermelon! My son had the country breakfast. He told me loved it. They have menudo offered everyday! The establishment is well sorted and clean. I'm taking my whole family there tomorrow for breakfast! My son and I loved it!!

OMG! This place is a must! Food is SO good! We flew in from Atlanta and were hungry for Mexican food so I went to Yelp to find a spot and saw Cheliz! When we first walked in I was concerned that there wasn't any Mexican dishes but Rosalia and Lorena told us about the Jiwvoa Rancheros, Tamales plate, and Verde Burrito - the verde sauce is MONEY! We ate every morsel on the plate! We loved it so much that we are going back tomorrow for breakfast! And I will take a few seconds to take pictures!

Another stop thanks to Yelp. The service here was outstanding and the food was just as good. I ordered the NY steak and eggs but the steak was as tendered as a ribeye. I almost think they confused the two but the steak did not have ribeye fat. They cooked it to perfection which was a pleasant surprise. The chilaquiles were tasty but needed spice. I would recommend spicing up the green sauce a little. It was good but I think adding a jalapeño or Serrano to it would make it perfect. This place is worth the 4.5-5 stars on Yelp.

Food was good, service was slow even though it wasn't packed, simple and clean ambiance.

This is a hidden little gem in Redlands. Good food and reasonably priced. Our server Alexis was so sweet and helpful. Our food was very tasty and came out fast. I'm a stickler for poached eggs done correctly and they hit the mark here. Perfectly cooked whites and a runny yolk center. The only recommendation I would make is that they make the avocado toast on Sourdough instead of wheat bread. Everything was on point. Ill be back if Im in Redlands or passing through again. Recommend 100%

Looks like a piece of toast. Supposed to be french toast! Where's the cinnamon?!
    Michael B.

First off, I ordered by phone and even gave them 10 extra minutes after they said my breakfast would be ready in ten. However, my biggest beef is the french toast. First, only one bread, not two, then the "chef" didnt put any love in making them by forgetting the cinnamon! At this point, it's not french toast! Worst french toast I've ever had! Period. And how much all of us pay now for basic dishes at restaurants makes it worse!

Located in a strip mall and easy to find. Ample parking. The place wasn't too busy when we arrived. The staff was nice. The food was delicious. The fried chicken was so crispy and seasoned well. The onion rings looked delicious but had a flour-like taste. They were crispy though. I would come back for sure

This is the second time we've been here. The first time was right before Covid lockdowns. It wasn't bad then and it's not bad now. There was a lot of us and they got all the food tasting good. Only down part is that my youngest nephews order wasn't written on the ticket, so they forgot to make his, so he waited an extra 15 minutes to get his food. The ambiance isn't great, but you know it's good food when it's completely packed inside and there are no tables left. Overall we'd all go again. We enjoyed it.

We decided on weekend brunch, especially since there were endless mimosas. Our kids have a recollection of being down the class umbrella alleyway, so they were amazed when they saw it. A short while later, we were in front of the restaurant and were quickly seated by the staff. They didn't ask if we preferred outdoor or indoor seating, but we were seated inside right next to the kitchen. We heard that indoor seating was better for service anyway. The interior of the restaurant was "very fancy," and my daughter thought we were in a date spot. We knew we wanted French fries and opted for the garlic Parmesan fries. At first, the kids were weirded out by the arugula, but my daughter ended up enjoying it, noting the bitter and salty notes. My son devoured the entire plate (not the arugula) and asked for another round. We also ordered the lemon ricotta French toast, made from Brioche bread, lemon blackberry butter, whipped lemon ricotta cream, blackberries, mint, and maple syrup. They perfected the crispy exterior, which contrasted well with the fluffy bread. My wife ordered the breakfast pizza--a focaccia pizza topped with marinara, ham, spinach, fresh tomato, red onion, a sunny-side-up egg, and herb-infused maple syrup. This was really delicious with the tart, fresh tomatoes, the salty ham, and the sweet maple syrup. I ended up eating the sunny-side egg by itself, so we didn't get to try the pizza with the egg. Lastly, I ordered the steak and eggs, but it was sadly a small portion. I ordered it medium rare, and it came out medium. The seasoning was a bit strange and would have been better with simple salt, pepper, and garlic. The mimomas really made my wife happy. She started feeling it pretty quickly. She chose the pineapple juice while I got the traditional orange. Not sure if the alcohol made the food better or the other way around. I was brought to reality when I saw the expensive bill, though.

The quality of food was fresh, prepared just right, and the service was fast and welcoming. It's in the nice down town Redlands area so never too busy or loud, in the small city. Definitely a fun spot for a fancy cocktail--or, in my case, a mocktail. I ordered the Hibiscus Cooler and LOVED it. The food was more of a mixed bag. I ordered the Poblano Burger, and the deep-fried poblano was SO good. Unfortunately, I ordered the patty medium and it came out overcooked. The fries were also a little undercooked, and the burger could have used more sauce. Tasty overall, just not quite hitting the mark. Then came dessert... and this is where the experience really went downhill. I ordered the crème brûlée because I've had it elsewhere and had been craving it. While waiting, I stepped away to use the restroom. When I came back, my entire table--including my drinks--had been cleared. I had literally just ordered dessert and never indicated I was finished. The server seemed confused when I questioned it, which made the whole thing even more awkward. And unfortunately, the crème brûlée itself was also a miss. The sugar topping was torched too long and had a noticeably bitter, burnt flavor. The server (and possibly a manager) apologized, and I was given $2 off the drink, which I appreciated. Between the okay food and the especially strange service and lack of communication the experience left me disappointed. The atmosphere is definitely the highlight, but for me, the service experience was enough to say I probably won't be back anytime soon.

Our waitress has on break, but this was communicated well and rhe other staff stepped in until she returned. We got a mix of drinks and food and loved every sip and bite. I will say the serving sizes are not what I'm used to for a Mexican restaurant but not tiny, around 2 to 3 tacos per plate. I got the birra tacos and I do wish they would have had a side but it wasn't a huge issue. Now the music for the elephant in the room. It was very loud in the small space. I would say club level, which is a lot for a dining experience. It didn't take away too much, just made talking hard. Another summer specific thing to point out, it is not the standard California A/c situation. We were in not way dying of heat, but it was warm. The day's temperature was around 102° so that of course was taken into account. If you have a group of friends that need some yummy food, this is your spot. I hadn't been in a few months, and decided to drop in this morning to eat, have coffee and edit photos on my laptop. During the several hours there, I got to overhear exchanges between customers and staff. The morning shift boys were young, but friendly. Let me tell you, once the day shift crew came on, the energy shifted. Andy, I HIGHLY recommend you replace the tall, thin guy with the glasses. The whole time he was there, he acted as if he didn't want to be there. He was rude, stand offish, and completely disregarded customers. As soon as he BLATANTLY ignored a female customer who was trying to have a conversation with him but gave attention to her male counterpart, I was over it. Listen, I get it, he might have not wanted to entertain someone's story. But customer service means to acknowledge the customer and treat them with respect. I can't even count the amount of times I've divulged in conversation with people I didn't want to, but I still treated them like a human. The woman was visibility upset about how off putting he was. I packed my things, went over to the woman and told her feelings were valid because he had been dismissive towards others ever since he came in. I know you're not going to care about my review, I know you're not going to lose much money if I never come back. But people need to aware what kind of employees are here. As for the food and coffee - The ingredients no longer taste fresh on the breakfast pizza. It tastes cheap and rushed. The iced vanilla latte I had was mid at best, I forced myself to finish it. Which is disappointing because I have loved both for years. I think the young boys need some better training on how to make coffee, but at least they were personable. The young guy with long curly hair - keep up that positive energy. You're gonna go somewhere. Highly recommend bringing Quay back full time, maybe make him a manager or part owner because every time I've been there and he's makes the pizzas, everything is He's a staple, and is clearly loved by all the customers who were happy to see him when he walked in. Also, maybe put the birch back on the empty corner wall, looks like someone ripped it off and it looks bad.
