This place is great! Really great Persian food, nice, clean, and well-lit space, and very friendly staff and service. My go- to has always been the chello yek combo with the koobideh. My sides change depending on my mood and the weather but all have been great. The hummus is really worth diving into and the shallot and yogurt dip is a favorite! I've also had their chicken kabob as part of a catered order and that was moist and deliciously spiced as well! Their baklava are among the best in the city and better than some I've had in Orange County! I work down the road and will be sorry to move away next month! They do deliver but I'll probably just drive over! Price is about right for the freshness and quality of the food you get and they have a rewards program that gets you some money off after you spend a certain amount. Absolutely love this place. It's not necessarily fancy or real spicy like other Iranian food, but it's just quality all around. The chicken is never too strong and/or rancid-tasting like a lot of kabob-style places can make it, it's sweet and light on the tongue. Make sure you get the Samak spice to sprinkle on the food. When I think of Mediterranean food I think vibrant, flavorful and exciting. Unfortunately, I did not get a single one of those tonight... I was really looking for something new tonight and Chello Grill pulled up on "Hot New Businesses" so I thought what the heck. The restaurant is clean and looks really fresh and new, I was almost excited until I realized that the prices were kind of high and the options were just not that great. I ordered two kabobs (chicken and steak) and both my wifes and my chicken had some raw pieces and my steak was WELL past well-done. If there was a category after well done that is how the steak was cooked. Maybe they should switch how the meats were cooked and they'd be decent..The meat did have decent flavor but I could only eat a few pieces of the chicken as the rest was too undercooked. They claimed to have fresh baked naan, however, what I saw and what I received was not fresh baked naan. I watched as they warmed my "fresh baked naan" in a broiler. The naan came out incredibly dry and overcooked (story of my night) and ultimately flavorless, not to mention the naan is cold by the time you get your meat. Lastly, the rice. I really wanted it to have some sort of flavor, I mean, it's Saffron Rice which should smell and taste wonderful. But alas, the rice was crunchy and flavorless. Seems like they don't really understand how to cook much of anything here. On a high note, the service was great and friendly as I obviously didn't know how to pronounce some of the food nor did I know what some of it was and needed some stuff explained to me, so they were very helpful when it came to my ignorance. Bottom line - Although this is a hot new business, they are not firing on all cylinders. If they could cook their food appropriately I would definitely give it another try as the concept is great and an exciting new type of restaurant here in town. read more

I love this place! Most affordable persian food I've come across ever, and the taste doesn't suffer for the price! I got here at least once a week. It's run by a Persian family, and the mother oversees all the cooking, so it's up to authentic standards. The servers are also always really friendly. I had high hopes for this place....until I tried it. I rarely write truly bad reviews on yelp, those have to be earned from me. I ordered the kabobs for 5 people. The online menu is not very clear when ordering and I thought it came with a yogurt sauce. The restaurant called me to clarify and no yogurt for me. The 40oz of water I had to drink while eating the extremely dry food makes me think they should rethink not including the yogurt. It was also supposed to come with grilled vegetables, but those did not arrive. My over cooked gosh-e fil and extremely dry stuffed dates did arrive. The only positive thing that I can say about this experience is that the delivery driver was nice and the "food" arrived in a timely manner. read more

Oh my God I'm so excited about this place! Albuquerque was in DESPERATE need of a legit Kebob place that tasted like authentic middle eastern food and this place NAILED it. I'm Armenian born and raised in Los Angeles, so I crave good middle eastern food at least once a month in Albuquerque, especially when I don't get to fly home to LA for a while. They even had stews that my grandparents and parents would make that tasted so close to their recipes that I had a little bit of a nostalgic flashback to being home. The service was excellent, prices were ridiculously reasonable, and the food was spot on. This is easily on the top of my list of go-to restaurants in the area for sure. read more

I had given up on decent Persian food in ABQ and was surprised when a recent search for food around me yielded Chello Grill. I think that calling it a Mediterranean establishment is a misnomer as Iran is not on a Mediterranean coast, but admit there are similarities. I grew up in LA and have eaten more than my fair share of Persian food so I can say without hesitation that this is a great place to eat. The staff were friendly and the owner gave me a sample of the daily stew while I waited for my food. The celery stew tasted just like my family makes. Very authentic! I loved the kabob and it exceeded my expectations. Be sure to sprinkle some sumac on the kabob--it enhances the flavor. I'm going to attribute the poor reviews to the aches and pains of a new restaurant working the kinks out. Eat here! Visited for our first while we were road tripping out to California. Everything was awesome! They have kebab meals which come with a veggie kebab, rice, and 1-2 sides depending on the meal (I really liked the mast o khiar, which was like a tzatziki sauce) it went really well with the steak kebab. You also get a huge piece of naan. Portions were very generous and everything was extremely fresh. If I lived in town I would be a regular. Will definitely stop by again on our way back. read more

I was looking for a healthier place to eat and stumbled upon this place. I walked in and was immediately greeted and explained the menu. The woman that helped me was extremely helpful and answered any questions that I had about how everything worked and what the food choices were. My food was served quickly and tasted great. The vegetable kabob had a lot flavor for just being vegetables and the rice tasted amazing. I also got the Stone Fruit Shaken Iced Tea and it was very delightful and was most likely the best tea drink I've ever had. The prices are average at about $13 including a drink for one person. The Yiro was tasteless, and it was presented on a long flat piece of pita (I guess that's what you'd call it)...but I ended up wrestling with long pita...kind of like snake wrestling... anyway it was very unsatisfying because it lacked any real flavor. The half salad was no different than you could get at Pizza Hut..this restaurant features NO middle eastern workers...and I think that's the problem...it it's basically an Americanized version of Mediterranean food. Even dining in. No staff to engage or tip or deal with. It is right near where I live. They make take out so easy. Staff is engaged and the food is always on per expectations. I like that their hummus is "thick". I love how everything else is prepared. Yes, it is assembly line. But, it is done right. Who would be complaining?
