Friendly prompt service as soon as we walked in. We originally were seated inside but then decided we wanted to sit outside, the host waitress was very accommodating. We had a nice table for 5 with a nice view of the band and lawn chairs with fire pit. The food was reasonably priced. Both food and drinks were good. My cousin and I reserved ahead to sit on the outside deck. The atmosphere was beautiful, and the service was excellent. There was a live band playing. Such a lovely summer day. I got a beef burger which came with fries, my cousin got 3 fish tacos, and we shared an app, calamari. Everything was delicious and the bill was like 70 bucks total which I thought was really good. Our waitress was friendly, attentive, and made sure we had everything we needed. Great spot to relax, enjoy a meal, and take in the views. It's been years since we dined at Chelo's, but on a beautiful day with a comfortable breeze, it seemed the perfect afternoon to return to dine there once again. Enjoying a burger with fries and a Caesar salad, all of which we shared made it quite an enjoyable and memorable experience as we watched the beauty of Greenwich Bay. Our server was Kayla who was so outgoing, patient, helpful, and absolutely perfect. The bacon burger was cooked as requested, the fries were tasty, and the Caesar salad was huge and thoroughly delicious. We love Chelo's on the water for the vibe!! It is a beautiful setting and on the weekends they have live bands in the summer. It's the perfect kid friendly spot. My six year old's favorite to be exact! I like the food, but I actually prefer the menu at other Chelo's locations compared to this one. Again, this one is definitely for the setting and I would not go here on a rainy day to sit inside. In the summer the picnic tables are first come first serve, so if you go early enough you can try your luck at getting one. Otherwise you definitely have to make a reservation and they have a strict cancellation policy. The desserts are five stars to me though. The chocolate cake and the banana berry pie are so delicious. I always end up grabbing whole cakes from them, since they are easy to get with 15 minutes notice, affordable, and just overall delicious! I brought my brother here today for his first time! He is visiting from Florida and I wanted to show him a good time! We are sitting out on the deck under an umbrella and we lucked out having Kam as our waitress!! From the first time we met, she greeted us with her amazing smile, she was very charming, personality plus, helpful and she should win an award in customer service! We ate outside on the back lawn. There were several dogs there which was nice. Our server was friendly and patient with our group of 6. We ordered baked sole, calamari, clam fritters, lobster ravioli, and shrimp scampi. Nothing was good enough to order again. The taste was bland. My daughter and I went to Chelos for dinner last week. I got the whole belly clams. I have had them elsewhere and every clam is whole and clams tastier. I would never order it again as it was not worth the money. My daughter got the summer salad that was amazing. The banana berries dessert pie was also amazing. Perfectly sweetened with real whipped cream. Service was great. We liked it there and I wanted to go back. My daughter got the summer salad again. It still looked and tasted great. So this time I ordered the tuna poke bowl. It was a large bowl of: mostly rice, lots of chopped cucumber, some seaweed, edamane, did I say rice? Pineapple, and small cubes of tuna. And I mean small. Small enough where I could not even taste it. Small enough where the people next to us saw and asked what I ordered and quickly changed their mind to ordering the same thing. If you're going to charge $28 for a Tuna Poke bowl, main ingredient" tuna", at least make it a little worth it! So disappointed it cost us $95 for the salad, rice bowl, 1 dessert and 2 diet cakes. My girlfriend and I went for appetizers and a couple of drinks and enjoy the outdoors, we had a wonderful experience, the band was pretty good. I'm not sure what there name was. We sat upstairs and were seated in a section left of the bar on the outside, we were greeted by a very professional young lady. Her name was Carly. She was very tentative , she explained items on the menu and She checked on us often to make sure everything was OK as she did with all the other tables in the area around us, it was good to see the Young staff very attentive to all of the customers and not on their phones, I will recommend this place to friends and family. My first time... Made a reservation, a must. Valet parked. Inside at reservation desk the gal said our table is number three, go ahead out there to the deck and find it!! What?? So we kind of looked at each other and we're like oh OK we'll walk out and find our table by ourselves, so we did. We found a front row table and sat down. No waitress comes over until another host arrives to say this table is for someone else and I said no we were told to come sit here, so she goes away and then our another waitress comes over and says were you seated by a hostess because we need this table. I said yes we were told to come and sit at this table. But Knowing this confusion was gonna happen again I get up and go out to the hostess stand and say look, you sent us out to find our own table for our reservation and now you're having two other people ask us to move. Can you please make sure you know why we are seated here ... and we would like menus, we would like to enjoy our evening! This was so rude and so amateur. 10 minutes later, a manager comes and drops menus on the table and walks away. No apology or acknowledgment for how amateur, so unprofessional. She leaves it to her poor teenage server who had to come out and say I'm sorry I don't do anything about the seating. Food was Basic. The calamari was very good but that was bout it. The waterfront burger was fine, soft soggy sweet potato fries were very lackluster and you pay extra for them and a side of green beans came so overcooked that they were impossible to eat unless you like shriveled leather beans. One friend had salmon on a salad, looked fine. My other friend ordered the clam balls that were big and dry and a cup of chowder. ($165) We enjoyed the band & watching tons kids running about. But really parents after at 9pm take the kids home. And the clincher comes when we were told we needed to get up and leave our table in 10 minutes because another reservation was coming. Today me and my child Angelica came to thos establishment. We was warmly greeted by Grace Chil. We started with two salads (Caesar) they were delicious. I asked for a "chicken delight" as she described it. To my surprise it comes already marinated. Even worse you can't get ANY chicken non-marinated. So I look at the menu from other Chillis and NONE say it's marinated nor what it's marinated in. It's bad business and dangerous. What if I was allergic to Italian dressing? (I found out the marinade) amazing server. Funny, kind and reassuring. The atmosphere was terrific. I left a 5 solely because of Grace and hospitality. myself and my fella and another couple were there two weeks ago on a Sunday evening. pleasant environment, waitstaff was pleasant. I ordered a lobster roll with butter. I love lobster and had no idea that a lobster roll could be anything but delicious. it was awful. the lobster was way overcoooked, to the point of being hard. The bun was supposedly lined with butter. instead it appeared to have been put down in water. the bun was soggy and fell apart. I've been to Chelos many times. Usually go for dancing and drinks when a band I like is playing there. Had dinner a few times too. The food is always tasty! As are the drinks although the drinks are getting a little pricey at $12.50 for a Tito's and soda. Inside there are several seating areas. Outside there are proper tables on the deck on the grass there are some wood picnic table style for bigger groups. The bandstand and dance floor are a good size. I made a reservation through OpenTable for outdoor deck seating for 3 on Saturday, July 20, 2024 at 3:00 pm. When making the reservation, it stated that this restaurant requires a credit card to secure the reservation and no-shows or cancellations less than 1 day in advance may be subject to a charge of $20 per person. We arrived about 30 minutes late, but they still sat us at a table on the deck. I like to bring my friends visiting Providence to Chelo's because they are the largest family-owned restaurant company in Rhode Island since 1955. The waterfront location has great food, a great view, great service, and live entertainment. Also, Chelo's offer traditional foods of Rhode Island, is a great seafood restaurant, and has many menu options. On Saturday afternoon, live music was playing and the breeze from the water was wonderful. The hostess informed us that we have the table for 1 hour 30 minutes. I had the watermelon sangria which had White zinfandel, Absolut Raspberri, Bacardi Limon, watermelon schnapps, Sierra Mist, fresh sour & fruits. It was very refreshing. The 3 of us shared a New England White Clam Chowder, clam cakes and chowder combo (three clam cakes, white claim chowder), stuffies (two stuffed quahogs, lemon). These are a few of Little Rhody's most-iconic dishes. It was all very tasty. I had the Chelo's famous lobster roll cold with mayo and lettuce on a brioche roll. We have visited Chelos many times. This particular location at least three or four. Service was good had bar seats so that usually helps service wise My wife had the lobster roll. Good taste and good size. I ordered basically the same item I order almost every visit. Grilled tuna and Swiss. The tuna did not taste the same as other locations. Just different. Hard to explain. Honestly it was not good or tasty at all. Like I said to my wife, this seems like a tourist Chelos because of location. Not to mention prices on the menu are higher here than other Chelos locations. We were looking for a casual seafood place to get dinner, and this place exceeded our expectations in so many ways. We sat outdoors in their massive backyard seating area. They had a band playing live music, which made the ambiance fantastic. The energy was so lively and there were even people dancing. For food, we ordered fish and chips, lobster mac and cheese, and shrimp scampi. Everything was really delicious, especially the mac & cheese. It came with large chunks of lobster which was a pleasant surprise. The fish & chips came with lots of fries and a massive piece of battered fish. The shrimp scampi tasted very fresh and not too heavy at all. Since we were seated outside and the area is huge, the service can be a bit chaotic and random. It won't be the most attentive service ever but they served our food in a timely manner and we were able to enjoy the great music and outdoor views while we waited. My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed our experience there! I got the buffalo chicken wrap, which came with seasoned fries, and was super good, and I didn't feel heavy after either. My wife got the fish tacos, which were amazing as well. They were also accommodating to her dairy allergy. No complaints! Went here on a wendsday evening, atmosphere was lively, great view overlooking the water, there are fire pits and picnic table, a huge outdoor bar and bands play here on the regular. I got the mai tai it was good, on the strong side. Their red chowder is the best! Service was fast even though it was busy. I got the salmon which was dry, overcooked and lacked any real thought process, it came with plain white rice and green beans that were pretty much raw. Ideal if you were a frat boy in the 1980s looking to relive your experiences, but otherwise like being in hell for anyone who enjoys the non-Waterfront Chelo's experience. Probably the aspect most evocative of frat-boy lifestyle is the line of urinals in the men's room with no privacy dividers (see photo), like pissing into a trough. This sort of thing might have been acceptable in century-old stadiums, but not in the modern era. The menu is severely cut down from a regular Chelo's with only some seafood and burgers remaining. If you're going to drink and not eat, that's not so bad --- but expecting actual food is unwise. I ordered fish and chips, and while the fried fish was at least acceptable although slightly undercooked, the fries were cold and soggy, so bad as to be inedible. I should have sent back the fries, but I was with a group and didn't want to cause a scene, especially after sending back an iced tea because it unexpectedly arrived with lemon in it. Parking was so bad that I had to circle the lot for 15 minutes until someone else departed and I could take their space. There is a large valet area, but nothing is posted about the cost of that and I didn't want to risk it. Reservations are only accepted on OpenTable over the web, and require a credit card where you are informed there will be a $20 charge for a no-show or cancellation. The web site said no outside tables were available, so I was forced to make a reservation for an inside table and telephone the restaurant to arrange an outside table, which led to confusion until I reached a manager who was able to do it. This was around four hours before a 5:00pm reservation on a weekday. The table we ended up with was at the end of the patio, which was a problem only because we were the closest to the kitchen exhaust vent that emitted a lot of smoke that kept wafting across and enveloping us. There was a live band that despite being quite a distance away was so loud as to make talking at the table impossible. It seemed to be a 1980s cover band, playing very much what would be expected at a frat party for aging Millennials. Don't go for the food. Don't go for the atmosphere. Don't go for the parking. She was incredibly rude no apology whatsoever. For $15 each it was a complete rip off. They pour it from a tap handle too, and her weave got in the drink also. So gross. I called to demand a refund. I doubt it will happen. Dont drink there. Go to any other chelos but that one. read more

I'm absolutely appalled by what I witnessed here. This restaurant allowed non-service dogs inside, and one of them actually tried to attacked my legitimate service dog. Even worse, management stood by while other patrons harassed the person with the service dog instead of stepping in to stop it. How can you call yourselves a respectable establishment when you not only ignore ADA laws but also allow harassment and unsafe behavior toward people with disabilities? Seriously -- what is wrong with you? If you care at all about your customers' safety and basic decency, you need to retrain your staff immediately on ADA compliance and take responsibility for creating a safe environment for everyone, not just those who bring pets for fun. read more

We took some pictures near the boats first then went back inside. This Chelo's is more upscale to me than any of the others since it is on the water. You can sit inside or outside I chose outside because why not? Our servers name was Bella and she is an absolute doll, she was patient as we wanted so much and she was an amazing server. Always checked on us and she just did a great job! Whenever I do come back I will request her, because I would love that same service. So what we ordered for drink was a strawberry margarita inside of a pineapple, this was sooooooo good and I wanted more. Obviously the up charge for the pineapple but it was well worth it. For appetizers we got the steamers, oh my lord they were so good. I am very picky when it comes to seafood because I know what's good quality and what is not. The steamers were very tasty. And for the meals I got a Connecticut Lobster roll is just like a regular lobster roll but instead of the meat being cold it was hot, I'll stick to cold lobster roll. I made the reservation over week ahead of time and had to leave a CC# and agree to the terms of a $20 a person cancellation fee. Thier "reservation" system and hostess calling to cancel it an hour before, ruined our 3rd of July and anniversary dinner plans that I had been planning for 3 months. When I spoke to the hostess on the phone, she like a careless robot and no accommodations would be made. it was never brought up in the OpenTable app that if it rained, they cannot accommodate me. That they have covered outdoor for "first come first serve" parties as I was told by the robot so SOL. The reason my reservation was cancelled was rain coming in. Needless to say, I won't be back to a Chelos, the customer service ended that.
