I had a very disappointing experience with the customer service here. I ordered a veg thali and another vegetarian curry through DoorDash, but after the order was placed and the driver was already at the restaurant, I received a call saying the veg thali was unavailable. The issue wasn't that the item was unavailable -- these things happen. The problem was the way the person who called me handled it. I asked whether they could refund the unavailable item, since canceling the order from my side could result in charges. Instead of helping resolve the issue, she rushed me to choose a replacement while I was trying to pull up the menu and figure out what I wanted. When I asked about the prices of the replacement options so I could choose something equivalent to what I had already paid, she became extremely condescending. She repeatedly made comments along the lines of "it's only one or two dollars" and "do you want that one dollar?" and talked about how the restaurant would be "losing money" if they gave me a slightly more expensive replacement. I was simply trying to find an equivalent replacement for an item they were unable to provide. She also complained that there had already been "a lot of back and forth" and that they had "given me time," even though I had only had a couple of minutes to look at the menu. Her tone throughout the call was impatient, mocking, and disrespectful, with no apology for the inconvenience caused by an item on their menu being unavailable. This was never about $1. It was about how a customer was spoken to while trying to resolve an issue that I did not cause. A simple apology and a respectful conversation would have resolved everything. Customers should not be demeaned or made to feel like an inconvenience for asking reasonable questions about an order they already paid for. Very poor customer service. read more

Have been meaning to try this place forever! Finally made it in, and so happy we did! Went in thinking we would try our usual dishes we get at other places, but our server recommended other items to try. So, we did! All of his recommendations were so good! Very flavorful. My friend got a dish that I can't remember what it was, but I think it was a fish dish? I got the curry leaf chicken curry. We also got the gobi manchuria and the garlic naan. I have to say that the gobi manchuria was something I had not tried before. It's cauliflower in case you are not familiar with this dish. OMG, beyond my expectations! Mind you, I am a meat eater, but if I had to not eat meat, I would definitely be eating alot of Indian food! Lol! Definite place to check out! I think that I've found the best Indian weekday lunch buffet in San Diego ... at Annapurna. Behind the simple storefront lies a welcoming South Indian restaurant with friendly and helpful staff. Booths line the side walls with tables in the center of the restaurant. But the focal point at lunch time is the buffet table across the back of the restaurant! For $14.99 (Tuesday-Friday 11.30am-2.30pm), you have your choice of over a dozen Indian dishes plus Naan, Dosa (South Indian Crepes), desert items, and chutneys. The quality of the food is excellent. What did I enjoy? The Hyderabadi Chicken Dum Biryani, Tomato Dahl, Andhra Goat Curry, Andhra Chicken Curry, and Butter Chicken topped my list (5/5). But I really liked everything I ate. It's been a while since my last visit. I was disappointed with service and food this time. We were the first customers. We got seated and waited at least 20 min until someone came to take our order. We ordered our usuals. The chilli gobi used to be our favorite but this time they were overfried and not many pieces of cauliflower. The butter chicken was a bit too salty and lamb vindaloo sauce didn't taste good (lamb and potato were tender/soft, which I liked). My friend and I came here on a Friday night and it was pretty dead. I noticed the buffet station was empty, so I'm guessing that option is more popular. I got a mango lassi and she opted for the yogurt one. Both drinks were premade and had an artificial flavor. We thought that the yogurt one was more refreshing and light. We shared the chicken tikka, kedai shrimp, and noodles. It took about 30 minutes to get everything, so we were pretty hungry by that time. Overall I like the overall taste and quality of the food. All the curries had a nice flavor and the ingredients complemented each other well. At a cost of a little over $15 for lunch you get what you pay for. My favorite was the tandoori chicken, chicken curry and butter chicken. They had these Little naan balls that were tasty and went well with the curries. The salad was a little weak and could have used some cucumber. For dessert there were orange slices and semolina halva that was excellent. I would give the 4 stars if they would only give you "fresh" naan bread and not microwave the papdums. I asked my Yelper friend what are good to have for Indian Cuisine, and she mentioned a lot that sounds so yummy. She even came to me when i was choosing what to get and helped me out with what to pick. I was expecting a very strong seasoning or mild spicyness on their food just like the way we tried on the other Indian restaurants that we've tried, but all of the seasoning was light in this Buffet. I know that what I'm eating is good, but it would be more yummier if the Seasoning was a bit stronger. Unfortunately, this place didn't make our list of Indian places. We ordered delivery through a service, which was fine. Looking at the color of the dishes, they looked off color. We just proceeded to open the dishes. We ordered 3 dishes. 2 chicken curries and one veggie dish. Both chicken dishes were almost inedible. I've never tasted chicken that was so overcooked and dry in any Indian food I've ever had. The veggie dish was just ok, but the texture was off like the texture of baby food. Hope to try it again. I've been wanting to check this restaurant out as they had reasonable prices and a really good buffet option. But in this visit, my boyfriend and I ended up ordering from their menu. It's located in between Postal Annex and LHK Noodle Bar in the Village of Mira Mesa on Camino Ruiz street side in Mira Mesa. There's a huge parking lot with ample stalls but may require a walk depending on how busy the shopping area is. My boyfriend and I got three items to share with my older relatives: - Saag Lamb - this was a bit lacking in my opinion. There wasn't much flavor to the saag but could be the fact that there wasn't any spiciness to it. The lamb was delicious and tender though! - Masala Dosa - I originally wanted to order their Mushroom 65 but the worker over the phone said they didn't have that (interesting as it was also listed on their online ordering system). So I asked for a dosa recommendation that wasn't too spicy, and she recommended this. I didn't know what to expect but it was technically a crepe with potatoes(?) on top. There was a masala curry sauce on the side along with two other sauces(?). Again, lacked a bit in flavor (probably due to mild spiciness) but was a good appetizer full of carbs. Would love to try another dosa with spiciness next time! - Shrimp Biryani - this was probably the best out of the three things we ordered. This had the most flavor. It was kind of spicy, which could be the reason for the lack of flavor for the other two. There wasn't much shrimp but still really good! I had asked for everything to be mild as my older relatives aren't spicy eaters (unfortunately). Everything was mild except for the shrimp biryani. It was kind of spicy even when written as mild - I even thought it was spicy LOL but we all enjoyed that small hint of spiciness, thankfully! But just a heads up for our non-spicy eaters. The food was good but the place didn't have the ambiance of others I have enjoyed in the area, and they don't have beer, wine, or liquor...something I would expect even if I were in India! Ambiance is strip mall cafeteria, service was a bit slow, and prices were in line with expectation.. I came here as part of a group of three for dinner shortly after they opened. There was no wait time and they seated us immediately. We were the only ones in the restaurant so we had their undivided attention. It was our first time there and we weren't too familiar with Indian food, so the server was very patient with us and explained the different types of dishes. Our server recommended items that she enjoyed. My favorite dish was the chicken tikka masala and the garlic naan was delicious! I also really enjoyed the cheese masala dosa. The portion sizes were pretty big and we wanted Stoney so many things so we had a lot of leftovers lol. I would definitely return now that I know more Indian dishes and know I'll want that naan bread more often! The bread pudding was not what I expected but it was still good, it tasted like bread soaked in sweet butter. It is too much for one person to eat on their own in my opinion but I would probably still want to get it again another time. read more

Good spot to get your curry fix, especially if you are either driving to or from San Diego. It's $20 per person buffet. All business as you go in and grab a plate and start walking around the buffet bonanza set up. Just remember to get there before 2 as they stop making new food. The chai is great and it's a simple setup. No so fancy atmosphere. Service is as usual for a place as such with them clearing the place. Don't think too fancy of service. I like the nann and the parathas and the egg dish. Also the vaday paday. It would would if they had ice cream to ease the stomach but the rasmulla and rice dessert does the job. Terrible place. With all the Indian places in the area don't waste your time here. Service is terrible, food tastes terrible. Every time I've walked by this place it has been empty. Take that as a sign I should have. The people working here are unfriendly and unhelpful. I asked a question to on of the staff and got a one word response and then they walked away.
