I had an appt. for a haircut next door and decided to kill two birds wih one stone and order take out before getting a haircut. I saw the word sushi somewhere in front of their restaurant and said wow, yum Japanese food!! After my haircut I walked in to pick up my food and the first thing I noticed was the empty restaurant during lunch time and second, the exposed bowl of wontons sitting at every table. I knew at that moment that I would be disappointed with the food. Their raw fish was so bad that I felt like if I finished it, I would get a parasite. Obviously their turn over rates are bad and that can only mean fish that's been sitting around for days... at least that's what it tasted like. Their cooked salmon teriyaki even tasted nasty.. so fishy with generic water downed overly sweet sauce. And the rice wasn't even Japanese rice. I've lived around the corner from this place for sooo many years and for some reason never come here. Me and my boyfriend decided to order take out on a whim and we couldn't be happier. We just had the most amazing dinner. Both Chinese food and sushi was absolutely out of this world! I went for the all you can eat sushi on the weekend. I have to say that that sushi itself was fresh and delicious. The menu have a good variety of different type of sushi to choose from. Service was good as well. The only down side I have to say is the preparation time. It did took a while before the food is ready to serve. But then I thought the food quality was good and fresh, I am not gonna make that such a big deal either. Overall, this is a nice neighborhood Japanese/Chinese restaurant to go to. read more

If you dine here, you have to ask for tea and the noodles with duck sauce. If you don't ask for these things, they don't bring it to you. As a matter of fact, the service here is really not good at all. The reason I keep going back is because the food is really good. I do love their california rolls, egg rolls, general tsaos chicken and their wedding/new years cake, which is really a round looking pasta cooked like the Chickenk lo mein. The Garlic Shrimp & Vegetables are good too and if you order it to go, you do get a good portion, along with a good portion of rice. BUT, if you eat in there and order it in the diningroom, you seem to get only half the portion you'd get at home??? Every entree come with its own white rice, but last month we ate inside there again and there were three of us. The portions came out a lot smaller, and they gave us one small bowl of Rice for the three of us to split! Before we finished our meals, the waitress came over and put the bill on the table. We stated, "We're not ready for the bill yet"... the waitress replied, Yes, but we're all waiting to go home!! Needless to say, we were forced to hurry up and finish our meals as they all stood there watching us. I will continue to order food to go, but will never dine in there again. read more

This Chinese place is just OK. They offer sushi but I have never tried it so I can't say if its good or not. The few times I have gotten anything from here it has always been at lunch time. I get something off of there lunch menu. Like I said, the food it just OK. I prefer the Chinese on Rt 22 in the Best Buy Shopping Center. read more

well I would've reported that my food was good, but last night me and my friend were just chatting for another hour. this couple came in and sat down. My wife & I had dinner here a few times. The food for the most part ok, and the service is good. The only gripe I have is the noodle crisps they give you at the table are not very fresh, they taste a little stale. All in all, not a bad place for Chinese/Japanese food read more

What's great is that you can get a wide variety of Asian inspired food, from Thai to Chinese to Japanese. We had Pad Thai which was ok, enjoyed it but it was not as good as other Thai restaurant in the area. The sushi and shumai were good, and the sushi (rolls) were relatively good price and freshly made but nothing special about it. I would try other ones like their specialty rolls next time. The Chinese options are a hit with the kids, they really like the sesame chicken which comes with broccoli. The pork fried rice has a smoky flavor which is a matter of preference. Overall decent and good value. We will be back. read more

The shrimp fried rice is the best can't get enough. If I don't get that then I do the all you can eat sushi and either way I get the egg drop soup which is always on the money. read more

My wife and two kids went here on christmas eve. There seemed to be enough servers but the service was inattentive and the food was mediocre. We ordered chicken with vegetables, pad thai and chow fun with beef. The pad thai was especially bland although the shrimps were good. You do have to ask for tea. What really disturbed me was that they added up the bill incorrectly by ten dollars and didn't apologize. We actually went here because the wait was too long somewhere else. There are better choices. This place was terrible! From the second we walked in I had a feeling that this was going to be bad when the place smelled like feet right from the door. As soon as we sat down, they gave us fried noodles with duck sauce. The noodles tasted disgusting and very stale. Like they were sitting out for a month. Very nasty!!! The staff was very pushy and made us feel like they were rushing us to hurry up and order when there was hardly anyone in there and no one waiting either. Very weird. The lomein tasted like dog food and the sushi was absolutely gross. I definitely do not recommend and will never be back! Terrible!!! read more

Since I go to NBD in the same strip mall, thought I'd finally try them. They gave me chow mein instead of chow fun. I realized this when I got home & had to drive back to get the correct dish. The manager said I should check my order next time before I leave next time! That is the the most outrageous thing I ever heard!!! She offered me no compensation whatsoever. read more

Take out lunch, a big mistake. I think this place has changed hands since the last time there although the dated decor hasn't changed a bit. Not a body in the place at 1pm. An omen? Anyway, 2 meals w/egg rolls, had to turn back the fried rice because the price was ridiculous. Got home and maybe 2 hours later nuked everything and that's when it went downhill. The eggrolls were oddly made, lots of slaw inside and no real taste. The meals were even worse. The general tsaos chicken was all fried bread and very little chicken. Taste was totally absent. Rice was a brick. My pea pods and beef were no better. The peas were as llmp and soggy as wet newspaper. The beef was also tasteless and miniscule. Soups were ok but I have had better wonton and sweet/sour. Overall, the price to quality ratio doesn't equate. For what I had and what I received I will never go back there again. This had to be the worst chinese take out we ever had. This place will be dust if this is an example of their cullinary talents. read more

This place is a very good upscale Chinese food restaurant. The place is very clean and beautiful looking. The salt and pepper squid is something everyone needs to try as soon as they walk through the door along with the Peking pork chops, they are sticky and delicious. They even have an all you can eat sushi buffet that runs 7 days a week for about 2l $20-$25 dollars. That might sound like a lot but for the quality of sushi you are getting it is a ridiculous bargain. read more

I've been going to Chen's since I was in utero! When I was younger we would go practically every week and order crispy shredded chicken. You can't go wrong. It's easily the best Chinese food I've ever had. Tommy and Samantha (previous owners) knew my family (and me) by name. Food is always delicious. Usually the crispy shredded chicken doesn't do well for take out but my family has perfected either removing the lid or just eating it in the car (it's hard to wait!!) The new owners are a bit skimpy (we ask for 4 utensils/plates and we only get 1 and have to ask again) but the food tastes just the same. I've recently moved out of the state and as soon as I get back Chen's 22 is the first place I plan to go! read more

I used to work by Chens 22 and would go there at least once a week. I work in a different area now and believe it or not next to a Chinese restaurant with terrible food. I had not been to Chens in a while and I am so happy to say it is as good as ever. My favorite items are the spicy vegetables and rice, hot sour soup and egg roll. Great food and great service! My husband and I come to Chen's at least 2/3x a month! We love their sushi, which is always fresh and delicious! I have had their chicken w/broccoli, lo mein, fried rice, wonton soup, and beef teriyaki, which is my absolute favorite! I usually get the beef teriyaki with mushrooms and I never finish it all! The staff is always so nice and makes us feel comfortable. This is our favorite date night place for Friday. We have brought so many of our friends/family members here because it is so good! Chen's 22 is my new favorite restaurant. Food, service and prices are great. The restaurant is clean and the quality of food is fresh. Everyone is very friendly and they don't constantly bother you and rush you out. The sushi is very fresh. I've had several cooked dishes which were all delicious. Hot and sour soup is the best I've ever had. My favorite so far is General Tso's White Meat Chicken, yum. Enjoy. read more

I had gone into Outback next door to this restaurant, and it was packed and my friend and I didn't feel like waiting.. so we went to the liquor store, bought a couple six packs, and assumed Chen's would be an okay place to grab a bite (basically only went there because it was BYOB and right there..). Dumplings were pretty good, not gonna lie. But what followed was terrible. I order beef and assorted vegetables. I asked for specific vegetables, and they did get that right. The beef was the worst thing I've ever eaten anywhere. Ever. It tasted as if it had been boiled or steamed beforehand, and left to sit in a pot of water until it was ready to be used for my dish. It was soft and chewy, felt like I was eating a balloon. I will never waste my money at this place again. It was absolutely terrible, I'm sorry I didn't have the patience to wait at Outback. I seriously would have been happier if they had put Wendy's hamburger meat in the meal I had. The beef was that lousy. I feel bad for whoever gave this place a good review.. they should go out and try and find different food at different places. I would say I regret having gone there, but at least now I know for myself how disgusting the food is there. This review is for the Chinese food - NOT the Sushi. Very Disappointing! Ordered 4 shrimp egg rolls for my son and husband. They were going to have 1 tonite with dinner and save 1 for tomorrow. These egg rolls were so small They were about 2 inches by 1 inch! Paid $8.40 for 4 tiny egg rolls! Don't get the egg rolls! Ordered chicken and brocolli, chicken and eggplant and Gen Tso's chicken. These dishes were sitting in 3 inches of sauce. There was so much sauce it was like soup! You had to fish around for the meat and veggies. If you order from here ask for light on the sauce. The only good thing about this restaurant was that they were opened until 11:00 on weekends. That's why we ordered from here. It was too late to go to our regular place. The prices were high, the quantity of food was small. We always have leftovers for the next days lunch and dinner. This was the first time that we had nothing leftover! Will go to fast food restaurant or pizza before I ever order from here again! read more
