To be fair, I made a mistake and thought my appointment was at 9:30 when it was actually at 9:00. When Cheron called me at 9:10 I immediately apologized and even offered twice to reschedule if that was easier. Instead she just asked for my ETA in an irritated tone and said she'd see me soon. From the minute I got there the whole appointment felt tense. I asked for a simple trim, some face framing pieces, and something low maintenance since I don't spend a lot of time styling my hair. It didn't feel like a difficult request but I felt like my preferences were an inconvenience. Even the shampoo was so rough it was uncomfortable instead of relaxing. The haircut itself turned out nice but what really shocked me was the finish. I paid $150 and expected at least a basic styling. Instead, my hair was blow dried with her fingers... no round brush, no comb, no straightener, no curls. Nothing. I genuinely couldn't believe that was the finished result. I'm happy I ended up with a decent haircut but the overall experience felt uncomfortable from start to finish and nowhere near the level of service I expected.

It was a little quiet when no blow dryers were running, so everyone could hear others' conversations, lol. That's probably my only complaint, and it's a minor one. I was overcharged (I was charged for what I booked online but it was changed at the appointment, so it was an easy error -- not like someone did something wrong). I emailed after the appointment and they refunded me right away. Love this place!

I was given a walk-in consultation and was warmly greeted by the owner, Patrice. Patrice is literally a ray of sunshine! She made me feel welcomed, comfortable, and gave me the individual service that I needed because I had questions and was in the market for a permanent salon. Not to mention, the salon was new, clean, beautifully decorated, and there was nice music to set the ambiance. The second stylist, Nia, who is young and talented, was slaying another client's hair; but Patrice brought me right in, sat me down, ask me about my hair goals and where I was currently in my hair journey. She explained to me how the Silk Bar has specials for folks like me, who want to be repeat clients. I was so excited to come back the next day. I arrived and learned that Patrice had written a personalized analysis for me and my hair goals! She provided products that were tailored just for my hair and scalp. These are vegan, sulfate free, and paraben-free products, which catered to my health-conscious side. Nia made me feel very comfortable and assured me that "it was my time to be pampered." She gave me the New Client Silk: detangling, a tingly shampoo with a little scalp massage, (where I fell asleep at the bowl,) blow dry, shaping cut, press, style. Patrice came and chatted with me and she feels like a long lost friend. Midway through, I just kept repeating how happy I was to have found them. I really felt like my hair needs were catered to. She was very straight forward and understood what I wanted without complications. I wanted my hair out of my face, half up with curls. I did not get the name of the wonderful young lady who did my makeup. She was very honest about what she could and could not do and did a great job. I wanted a basic cat eye with fake lashes and foundation that will cover my redness. I do recommend you bring pictures of what you want. It will help the staff and if you are like me, sometimes it is hard to express exactly what you want. I paid $125 for both makeup and hair. I will come back!

The stylist rushed through the application and did not even have my wash my face before beginning. She said she would be applying neutral and nude colors but I ended up with extremely dark eyes and chocolate colored lips. The look was completely opposite of what I asked for. The clueless receptionist was not able to explain further. I told her point blank this is NOT how you treat customers, you tell them up front what the service costs and that's how it works.
