Great place for burgers and other food fare. Dinner is also served here and always excellent. If you're in the area, make sure you stop in.

While the atmosphere is wide open providing spacious seating, the comfort of seeing so many happy families dining was joyous. Since this is my first trip to the new restaurant from the same folks that brought you the Iguana Grill off of 620, the 4* rating reflects what I could reasonably provide. Let's get to food. The pull pork nachos, soft pretzel (huge worth splitting), and chips:queso were excellent starters. I do want to try their fried pimento cheese balls the next time. All great. For salad, I tried their Da Bomb with Turkey which was a bit of disappointment since it had scant cuts of Turkey deli meat. Feedback to this salad is to never ever use deli meat in a salad. Try streak, shrimp, or chicken. I also recommend higher quality fresh cheese like mozzarella or goat but the bomb had inexpensive grated Colby. I would also recommend glazed walnuts and berries but it didn't have either. For entree, I really want to come back and try their gumbo and e'toufee but decided on the sirloin which was cooked to medium. They also have several steak sauces included chimmichurri and hollondaise. Drinks were great. Recommendation. The service can slow down on the weekend when they get busy.

After a great weekend in Fredericksburg, we find the Barrel House. The southern cuisine on the sign sold it even before we sat down. I'm a big fan of Cajun and creole cooking. We started with the fried boudin balls and gator bites, both were excellent fried to perfection with just a hint spicy bite. I had the chicken fried steak with eggs and hash browns. Steak was tender enough to cut with a fork, and was on point. Cynthia had the breakfast burger which she said was cooked to perfection as well as crispy along the edges. A great meal along with great service which allowed us to get back on the road and headed home with full stomachs. A full stomach and a Dateline podcast made those three hours a little more bearable

And the pistachio cheesecake! My boyfriend ordered the oysters which came out with hot sauce and he hates hot sauce but he absolutely loved it and it comes in a dropper vial so you can take it home. I also am not a fan of bone broth but they let us sample their house made bone sauce which was very flavorful and had a kick... I actually liked it! Great date spot. Will definitely come back!

Upon entering the hostess stand was un-manned, but after a few minutes someone came out to seat us. We were taken to our table and promptly greeted by our server who brought us an amuse bouche of bone broth. I enjoyed it but thought it odd that at no point did anyone ask about allergies or dietary restrictions. My husband is pescetarian so obviously he could not drink the bone broth even though they poured it for him. Not a huge deal, but a little surprised at this caliber of restaurant. I ordered a non alc Venetian spritz which was a lot like an alcoholic aperol spritz. It was really bright and lovely. Would definitely order again. They have complimentary bread service with 3 delicious offerings to put on bread. Our server was attentive and had good recommendations. We ordered the octopus (DO NOT miss this one! Probably some of the best I have ever had!), the fattoush salad, though simple is incredibly delicious and well balanced. Highly recommend as well. For mains I got the short rib which was delicious- though not life changing and husband ordered risotto with artichoke which was spectacular. Dessert truthfully was a bit of a throwaway. We got the Basque pistachio cheesecake. I love a Basque cheesecake which is meant to be light and fluffy souffle like. This was not that. It was a mediocre standard cheesecake. Would definitely go back but probably would skip dessert in the future. All in all, Aris is worth your time and money. We will definitely be going back because there were many other things on the main menu that I would love to try!

They encourage more Formal which is refreshing in a town where most restaurants invite casual. We were on time for our reservation, but waited a few minutes in their small waiting area. The hostess/manager had a bit of a school principal attitude, but overall was pleasant. We were seated in a small room amongst several other tables, but still felt intimate. The lighting is a bit on the dark side, but the candles bring out a great atmosphere. A violinist and cello created a romantic feeling (Enchanted Rock Orchestra Strolling Duo). We started with cocktails, which were crafted beautifully. The menu has old classics as well as innovative ones. For the appetizers, we had the focaccia bread which was delicious as well as the stuffed mushrooms which were delicately made and quite tasty. The wine list is short but encompasses Old world and New World wines. My wife had a Bordeaux while I had a Tuscany blend. Both delicious. For our entrées, we shared the filet mignon with peppercorn sauce with candied brussels sprouts and hand whipped mashed potatoes as sides. The food was surprisingly delicious, well presented and portioned. We truly enjoyed our entrées. For dessert we had the bananas foster cheesecake. Unique, not too sweet, delicious ending. If you come to Fredericksburg, definitely try this restaurant. You will enjoy the experience, the ambience and most definitely the food.

Wagyu should taste highly flavorful! - Mashed potatoes were authentic, yet also bland and lacked flavor. - Great cocktails and wine options. - Very limited space inside. It's difficult to walk to the bar or bathroom without running into multiple people, so if you prefer spacious areas, lookup pics of this place first! - Charging around $20 per person to book a reservation (refunded at check-in) and being unable to change a reservation the day before, even when the restaurant still shows availability, is ridiculous. I've visited tiny islands where the locals truly depend on tourism for every dollar of their livelihood, so you can't tell me this restaurant needs to charge for reservations to survive. I've never experienced this anywhere as a frequent traveler! - I respect their strict NO ball caps policy, but it was odd that my husband and I had a large naked Marilyn Monroe portrait on the wall for our main view. That's not exactly classy either!

Silver Spur is FANTASTIC! I visited on a whim when driving through Menard (most places were closed…read morebecause it was Easter but they were open) and had the best experience... service was great, food was delicious, portions were huge, and price was reasonable. FAST FACTS: * Parking - some spots right out front * Closed on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday * Check their Facebook page for events, specials, and more PRICING - The total was $50.65 after tax ($4.52) but before tip for an unsweetened tea ($2.79), chips and queso ($9.19), grilled chicken sandwich ($12.19), chicken fried steak ($19.49), and mint chocolate chip ice cream cake ($6.99). I think the pricing is VERY reasonable for the food quality and portion size. CHIPS AND QUESO (8/10) - Fantastic appetizer for the table to share for cheap! You get a mound of thick tortilla chips (or pork rinds), a skillet of green hatch queso topped with some fresh pico, and a smaller side of a thick salsa. I'd order this again! GRILLED CHICKEN SANDWICH (9/10) - Massive sandwich with a huge pile of shoestring fries (or tots) on the side. The bun is fluffy and nicely toasted, the grilled chicken breast is seasoned well, and you get fresh spring mix, tomato, pickles, and onion piled on top with honey mustard. I'd order this again! CHICKEN FRIED STEAK (10/10) - One of the best chicken fried steaks we've had! It's a huge portion of steak (8 oz) topped with peppered gravy, two sides of your choice, and a roll... everything was seasoned well, fresh, and delicious! I'd order this again! MINT CHOCOLATE CHIP ICE CREAM CAKE (9/10) - The desserts vary but this ice cream cake was fantastic! The level of mint was perfect and it was a good size piece to share at the end of an already very filling meal. I'd order this again! Honestly, there was nothing I didn't enjoy at Silver Spur! Obviously I'm not a local (you can tell it's the type of place where everyone in town hangs out) and just happened to stumble across it while traveling through but I will 100% stop by again when I'm in the area! Absolutely fantastic and filling meal for a very affordable price with those hometown Texas vibes that are always appreciated! Special shoutout to our server, Dana, who took great care of us from start to finish!

The place looks SUPER cool. Easy to find, really neat decor. We went in around 2:30 pm on a Sunday…read morein July....First, the two of us just stood there in the "wait to be seated" area for a good 5-8 minutes, watching the three or four groups of people eating their lunches. All the stunning reviews made me feel very comfortable stopping here. I hate to be the naysayer. (I contacted the restaurant first about this: no reply. Customer service must not be a big thing for them, I guess?) My son went to find someone....There were more than a few people working, all just chatting, no one watching the door. It doesn't matter to the story, but still makes a difference to us- my adult son has debilitating scoliosis. You can't tell by looking at him, but he has four pronounced curves. 30 -60 degrees. They are symmetrical so he looks "normal." Those curves squish his stomach down, so he can only eat once a day. I ordered the ribeye sandwich - we waited about 20 minutes after ordering before our two sandwiches came - it came in big chunky bits with a lot of fat. A bit salty, quite chewy, but ok. Disappointing for sure. My son's burger was red and raw in the middle, full of grease, stale bun, grainy tomato, tons of old lettuce, and flavorless patty. It made him gag. He tried to push through and couldn't. He never complains. He ran to the bathroom three times throughout the meal because of it. Now, our waitress was awesome. Apologetic, attentive, and super positive. Very sweet. However, there was another waitress with a skin tight sleeveless sea green top, brown wavy hair piled on top of her head who called my son rude, loudly, after he gagged in the bathroom, and was rude to him when he told our waitress the food was inedible. She made a bad situation worse. We waited 10 min to be seated, then at least 20+ minutes for a fatty salty sandwich and a tasteless burger, and barely cooked fries. I'll attach the pics, I wish I had taken a picture of the three or four uneaten fatty "ribeye" steak bites I left on my plate. In summary: poor customer service, old ingredients, small portions, big prices, not well-made, or according to all these other awesome reviews, at least not consistently well cooked.
