If you're craving some Texas style bbq in Toronto, cherry street bbq is the spot for you! First, let's start with the amazing service courtesy of Annie! She was literally the best! We were a group of 11 and we made reservations weeks in advance and Annie and her team really took great care of us! With such a large group (and it was pretty busy), we had many asks from drinks to sauces and everything in between and she catered our every need with a huge smile! The food was excellent! The brisket and the ribs were so tender! Literally just melted once it hit your tongue. The pulled pork was also very vinegary which I loved and not overly saucy! The sides were all delicious but my all time favorite was their Mac and cheese! It had me craving for more the next day! It was so creamy and every pasta was well coated!
Delicious BBQ! Everything was so good. Particularly the Baby Back Ribs which were meaty but still fall-of-the-bone tender. The sauce was also amazingly glazed over the ribs. Briskets were tender as well. The Smoked Chicken Wings were also a hit. Super tender and seasoned. Their sides were good except the coleslaw which was more of a pickled salad rather than creamy coleslaw. Would recommend the Sweet Potato Mash and the Mac & Cheese in particular.
Cozy place that can get crowded during weekends or during peak hours. We went in the almost good time around 6 pm. Bbq chicken sandwich and baby back ribs were tasting.
We visited on a Friday afternoon and it wasn't too busy. The food came out hot and fresh. We got 2 lbs of smoked wings with 2 sides. The wings were good though they were more fried than smoked. The mac and cheese could've been a bit more Cheesy but it was still good and the fries were crispy. The cornbread that we added was a bit overpriced as you have to get a loaf vs just a piece and was just okay.
We tried the riblets and Smoked sausage but dipped into a bunch of sides including Sweet Potato mash, beet salad, mini cornbread muffins, cucumber salad and mac and cheese. The riblets were great by they forgot our sauce on the side which was a bummer. The Sausage was a bit of a miss for us. Not super flavourful and just overly salty. The Mac and Cheese was great. Cavatappi pasta with just the right amount of cheese sauce. I can totally understand where they sell this queso sauce separately,it was tasty. The cucumber salad was okay, sauce was too runny, so it really needed a punch of herbs ..the pepitas were nice though. Beet salad was great and the mash was good too. Beans with Brisket was flavourful, a mild kick and brown sugar forward. If I could just rate the sides I'd probably give them a 4. Atmosphere was fun and staff super friendly
A michelin famous bbq spot - it was great, but maybe a little more hyped than it should be. The brisket was obviously the star and it just melts in your mouth which is amazing. It was a shame that they didn't have beef brisket burnt ends, and all their other sides were mediocre. They didn't even offer us sauce until we asked, and the service was pretty underwhelming but to be fair they were rammed busy. Maybe I'd try it again if I was in the area but it wasn't worth a special trip to me.
Their baby back ribs were amazing!! Could be a little more saucy but thankfully they gave us a bottle to dip on the side
Came here for team lunch and I see the 3 Michelin Guide badges on their wall. Yeap. Need to come here. Lol! So we came and glad we made it before the lunch rush. Food came shortly and man the brisket is soft and juicy! Service was alright and music lively.
3.5 stars. We did take out for 7 people and each of us got the 3+3 platter. Navigating the menu was difficult. Really wished they mention how much of each thing was given in a platter. The 3+3 sampler if you chose these same items would give: 1 rib 2 chicken wings 3 slices of brisket 1 sausage 1 palm size pulled pork and 2 mini corn bread. We couldn't figure out the portions looking through pictures and comparing other platters. Their house barbecue sauce was tastey. corn bread was soft. The sides make it so you're pretty full with the portion. The sides were fair, coleslaw wasn't that great. I feel it's a better experience to dine-in when food is hot, the take out experience for the price wasn't worth it. Love the bbq sauce, would recommend the ribs and wings.
My, oh my, is this place delicious! The brisket, ribs, chicken wings, sweet potato, mac and cheese and other sides were phenomenal! There are not many tables, so we purposely arrived in the middle of the afternoon, when the weather outside was frightful, so that we could snag a place to sit. Service was very prompt and friendly. You order at the cash, and they bring your order to your table. Texas BBQ in TO! Yeehaw!
Tried Cherry Street Barbecue for the first time and as someone who's never had Texas BBQ before, I was pleasantly surprised. The brisket and cornbread were the standout favourites for me flavourful and tender. The mac and cheese and ribs were solid too (wish there was more bbq sauce) My boyfriend loved all the proteins, so it definitely hit the spot for him. Service was great, but the seating/setup is a bit unusual since it's self-serve and you order at the front, which was a little confusing for a first visit. Overall, a tasty experience, maybe not something I'd rush back for but definitely worth trying at least once.
I've been wanting to try Cherry Street BBQ for the better part of 5 years. I've been dancing around it but I never found the perfect opportunity to try it... until last Saturday. When I finally got the chance, let me tell you - I was NOT disappointed. Is it the best BBQ I've ever had? No. But the food was excellent and the vibes were IMMACULATE. I tried the Cherry Street Sampler for 4. The portions are very generous. We had to ask for to-go boxes, and this is something that I NEVER do. The brisket was very fatty and the chicken wings were crispy and super flavourful. More than anything, it's the sides that surprised me. The broccoli salad, corn elote, and coleslaw all cut through the heavy, fatty foods and complimented the main dishes perfectly. The pork ribs were a tad dry, and that's the only negative thing I could possibly say about Cherry Street. I would recommend that you go on a nice day. The patio is huge with tons of seating, and there's a bar right outside to ensure expedient delivery of alcoholic beverages. When I went, there was even a live band playing a medley of blues, soul, R&B, and indie rock. It was an incredible experience, and one that I wish to have again before the end of summer. I would wholly recommend Cherry Street BBQ!
I haven't had much texas bbq, but this place is good. Brisket was good and juicy. Really liked the pork riblets and mac n cheese. Would definitely come back. Service was fast. The place is small. Men's washroom had a funky smell though.

Finally got a chance to checkout the place after so many years. They had live entertainment on the patio during the Sunday afternoon visit and they even took song requests! We got the classic platter and had the chance to try a bit of everything. The beef brisket was my personal favorite which paired quite nicely with the coleslaw. I also liked the spare ribs, but everything was really tasty. We got there during a blue jays game so we ordered their jays game special cold draft and thought it was a great deal paired with the meats. Would definitely return if I'm in the area. It was also a close walk to the new parks nearby for some strolling after the meal. read more

Probably Torontos most acclaimed BBQ in the Port Lands area which is newly rejuvenated with parkland! This place was in the middle of nowhere in the past. Came for an early lunch on a sunny Saturday. Ordered at the counter - three meat plus three sides (they ended up giving four meat!!). Brisket is my thing and it wasn't bad. Definitely tender but not as flavourful or juicy as other brisket I've had in other jurisdictions (like Texas hill country). The sausage was fantastic. Ate outdoors on a patio. It was busy. Some seating inside. They bring the food out to you and you can order drinks at a bar or from a server. I thought it was decently priced for BBQ. Kinda disappointed wasn't how I expected it to taste. I think Texas bbq is more flavourful. The niblets just tasted burnt. I don't know if that's a thing. The sides were just meh. The brisket was very tender. The ribs were also tender. I did a delivery order. read more
Came in for some BBQ and were lucky. A few of my friends hadn't been to cherry street before so we decided to go. The weather was a bit crummy so it wasn't very busy. We were seated and placed drink orders. The flow is different because your server will cover your drinks and everything but we still ordered at the counter for our meals. I got the chicken sandwich with a side of beans and some coleslaw and shared an order of brisket. The chicken had some weirdly tough pieces which I didn't expect for something cooked low and slow. It might have been a tendon or something but it was a very strange bite. The beans were really nice but I didn't love the coleslaw. I'd go for the potato salad next time. The brisket had a really thick layer of fat through the middle that hadn't rendered down as much. Almost a quarter of the slice was fat :/ It's good but not great. I hear the ribs are really good so it might be worth going for those. read more

The beef briskets are gorgeous and really filed us up after the bike ride along the lake. The fat is excellent and we both went for it. The ice cold larger is great. We would come here again in a heartbeat. The 'burnt ends' are the fatty end of the beef briskets and they ran out so we couldn't order but will do next time. read more
After visiting the Distillery for the winter market, we were looking for a place to eat nearby and ended up here. Because we had some snacks while at the Distillery, we ordered the small plate where we choose 3 meat options and 3 appetizer options. We ordered the pulled pork, sausage and brisket with potato salad, mac and cheese and cornbread. I will likely pass on the sausage next time. Overall, the portion was perfect for us that evening. Because there's no longer anything around the area, parking was extremely easy and it's a comfortable place to grab a bite with friends. It was a very nice environment. They have a really large outdoor patio area also, it must be great in the summer time! read more

Spent time in Texas, Baytown , Fortworth; South Carolina, Charleston ; North Carolina , Charlotte... I wanted to try Cherry Street BBQ since it looked decent when we rode past it during the summer. We ate the sampler, thank goodness we ONLY ordered what we did.The brisket wasn't over cooked and was okay. Ribs, love ribs, but these weren't great when friends can make better ribs on the BBQ/smoker. Pulled pork, just didn't hit. Sausage, neighbor's German, and a best friend's Finnish where they MAKE their own post hunting - delicious, not at Cherry. Our cornbread was served COLD,that's like handing someone COLD hush puppies. Those beans, not sure what happened, the spices overwhelmed otherwise well cooked ones. Potato salad is a favorite, we left it,along with that coleslaw ; the BEST was their mac and cheese, not heavy cheese type,but good. We were hoping to have a great spot in Toronto. read more

Came here to meet up with some friends. Personally, I'm not a huge fan of BBQ in this style, but obviously I had to try this place as I've heard many good things about it and it's their specialty! First off, it's located near Cherry Beach area, which is quite out of the way from the downtown core. I took a bus and still had to walk quite a bit. Not a problem though! We were a party of 5 and got the Cherry St Platter, which serves 4+ people. However, it was actually a lot of food, and we had leftovers. Serving size was huge!! Overall, I thought it was good, I'd give it an 8/10. My favourite was the chicken and sausage. Unfortunately, the brisket, pulled pork, and ribs I found quite dry. I really wished the ribs would pull off the bone, but you had to really bit into it. The brisket was tough too. All of the sides (beans, coleslaw, potato salad, cornbread) were delicious. I think a day at Cherry Beach and Cherry St BBQ would be awesome! I would come back again if I'm in the area! read more

Always on my radar, but never in the area, I finally decided to bite the bullet and try it out one nice summery afternoon It's in a weird spot, located in a corner where nothing much is going on currently....except a whole lot of construction...so be prepared for noise (think a few condos are going up). Ended up trying the large BBQ platter - chicken, baby back ribs/spare ribs, brisket, coleslaw, beans, Mac & cheese The chicken was nice and juicy and the brisket was all sorts of delicious. The mac was decent. Slaw is..well slaw lol. I thought the beans could have used more spice or punch in your face taste. Everything was good, don't know if I'd make the drive out here specially for this though. Bonus is Cherry beach is up the street so you can nap off the meat sweats there lol You order inside at the counter and if you want to sit at the patio they will bring it outside. Haven't had BBQ in awhile and I really enjoyed this place. We got the sampler which included brisket, ribs, chicken, pork, sausage, salad, beans, and coleslaw. Every single meat was tender and filled with flavour. It was easy to cut through and the ribs came off the bone easily. I also really enjoyed the sausage. The chicken is a bit dry for me but other than that, it was still good. We also tried their kale Caesar salad which was pretty small for the price (the croutons had a weird taste to it that I can't really pinpoint though). Service was good and it was nice outside (we sat at the patio, the inside was like a sauna). Staff was friendly too. read more

Best brisket I've had in Canada!! Incredibly tender, smoky, peppery, juicy meat. The brisket was the highlight of the meal by far. The brisket beans were also amazing, packed full of flavor. The beans and the coleslaw (simple, not creamy, good tang) balanced each other out perfectly. The Mac and cheese was pretty decent, though nothing to write home about. And the banana pudding was a nice way to end; I liked the texture of the graham cracker crumble topping. All this was just shy of $70, which is not cheap... but since I rarely get good southern BBQ in Canada, it felt worth it to me. In the summer, the patio outdoors creates a lot more spaciousness as well, which made for a lively but pleasant atmosphere. I'm glad I got to try this spot out on my trip out east! read more

I came here for a workplace outing. This particular location is in the middle of nowhere, but the food is excellent. We sat outdoors and the employees were kind enough to turn on the gas heaters. Since there were many of us, we had the family style platter. The mac and cheese was quite tasty. The side of beans were spicy, but worth it to try even if you can't handle the heat. When the barbecued food came out, were were really impressed with the presentation. We were also surprised that there was still food left to take home because there was just so much. I was primarily looking forward to the brisket and the pulled pork. The brisket was very tender and fell apart as we were taking pieces off the platter. But what surprised me the most was that the chicken was extremely tender, moist, and flavorful. That was probably my favorite of the evening. The spare ribs were also surprisingly good. Overall, Cherry Street BBQ does BBQ justice. Definitely come with a large group so that you can get a sampling of everything. read more

I can't believe that it took me This long to finally visit Cherry St Bbq. Their shiz is the bestttt! I really liked their baby back ribs and brisket!!! Their brisket was so tender, tasty, juicy and flavourful! It was so soft, unlike other places that sell brisket. Their pulled pork was also super juicy and soft.. not soft enough where it will dissolve in your mouth but not tough enough where it'll feel like the inside of your mouth is getting a massage. Their short ribs were good but not mind blowing and their sausage was okay as well. I got the sampler box with additional half rack of baby back ribs and I think this is gonna feed about 7-8 girl portions. That's a whole lotta meat!! It also comes with a small side of coleslaw and some delicious beans. I wish it came with some more veggies! Also , please note to be carefulllllll when opening the platter cuz mine spilled. Thankfully they wrapped it in shrink wrap so it was okay during the car ride. I didn't know there would be so much meat juice, so I unwrapped it quickly when I got home and some juices spilled onto the table. Just a heads up!! read more

I had high expectations for this restaurant since it's listed in the Michelin guide, but I left thoroughly disappointed. This was my first visit with my family, and we ordered the small platter, which was advertised at $45. However, with just two soft drinks and a tip, the total came to nearly $80. For that price, I expected the BBQ to be exceptional, but unfortunately, everything was overly salted and had far too much black pepper. The sides--coleslaw, potato salad, and beans--were mediocre at best, and we barely touched our meal. Between three adults and a child, we left behind half a brisket and a whole rib because the food simply wasn't enjoyable. We also got two banana puddings, which were shockingly small, served in containers typically used for condiments. I was appalled to find out later they cost $10 each, which I only realized after checking our bank statement since it was my husband that went back in to buy them. The dessert was nothing more than basic pudding with a few banana slices on crushed graham crackers. For that quality, it should have been priced between $3-$5 at most. All in all, we spent over $100 on a meal we couldn't even finish, and I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone. Vibes were nice but I wouldn't come back just for that. read more

Looking for great bbq? Cherry street has got you covered! The menu is fairly large and you can customize things fairly easily. Food: Brisket - 4.5/5. Moist, flavorful, meaty. Exterior has a nice crust of seasoning. Must get this! Ribs - 4/5. They were pretty tender and flavorful but I found the seasoning a bit pepper heavy. They are nice and huge, with the soft bone included at the end. Pulled pork - 4/5. The pulled pork was good, seasoning was balanced, decently moist. It's not my favorite bbq meat but this was done well. Smoked chicken - 5/5. I thought this was awesome - getting a moist chicken breast is not easy and cherry street managed to do that while getting great flavor in. Mac n cheese - 3/5. It hits the mark but id say it's lighter on the cheese than I thought it would be. Still, it's not bad and the benefit of being less cheesy is your not feeling full as quickly. Coleslaw - 4/5. Enjoyed this very much especially to cut and contrast the fattiness from the meats. Looks Vibrant, has a great crunch and balanced acidity and sweetness. Potato salad - 4.5/5 - I love a good potato salad with bbq and this is done well! Flavor is great, not too creamy, not too salty. Price: Comparable to other bbq places. read more

There aren't many places featured on the Michelin guide that serve food on paper plates. The (American) Southern style BBQ restaurant located on the old cherry street, is located in a historic building (formerly a bank branch). The food is amazing, soft and flavourful; the portion sizes are huge, and relatively cheap, and the service is great. Cherry Street BBQ rightfully earns all its acclaims and well worth the stop. read more
I've been wanting to try out the bbq here for a while and am happy I finally got the chance to! I called about an hour before they closed on a Sunday to place an order. I asked if they still had any Sunday Samplers available but they were understandable out of the items at that time. The staff on the phone suggested we get Large Sampler instead as it's the same price ($75) so we did. We arrived around 40 minutes later and had a bit of trouble finding where we could park due to the snowstorm a few days before. We were able to get our takeout right away. The food was delicious and along with the sides came with extra bbq sauce. The portion was large enough to feed 2 of us until we were super full. I'm already planning on coming back earlier on a Sunday so I can try their Sunday Sampler. I also have to give the staff bonus points as they were able to spell my name correctly on the order! read more
