Been on my wishlist for almost a year. Finally was able to make it. The staff is so friendly and warm. The place itself has a welcoming vibe. Was teeming with people all the while we were there. We got the large sampler between the 4 of us and struggled to finish it, good portion size and small appetites for us. In any case it's a lot of meat that falls of the bone. The Brisket was probably the most tender I have had. The ribs, chicken everything on the platter was delicious. We got mac n cheese, beans, potaoes and coleslaw for sides. Again great especially the mac n cheese. They have a decent bar as well as more food options. We thoroughly enjoyed our time and I will be back for the sausage and more food. read more

There isn't much that will bring you around the area where this place is, until you try some of their BBQ. As is the case with most BBQ places, the brisket is the star of the show and the item that you absolutely must try. It's moist, tender, flavourful, and leaves you wanting more, even when you feel super full. That being said, the other meats on the menu are also spectacular and you should definitely try them. I also got the ribs and pulled pork, and they were great additions to the brisket. In terms of sides, I really have to recommend the mac and cheese. Super tasty and a great accompaniment to the meats. The coleslaw isn't the best I've had, but the mac and cheese was solid. Stop reading this and go get some BBQ. I heard about Cherry Street Bar-B-Que quite a while ago and I've been there twice before but they were closed for private events both times. This time, I was entertaining a friend visiting from Vancouver and we got in. Yay! Everything on the menu looked good and it took us a while but we finally settled on the Beef Brisket, Side Ribs, Baby Back Ribs, Corn Bread, Coleslaw, and Quinoa Salad. The meats were beautiful cuts, especially the brisket. It looked perfect with a thin smoke band around the edges and a thin band of fat through the middle. The ribs looked meaty and moist. We couldn't wait to dig in! The brisket tasted as good as it looked, moist and tender. It had a nice smokey flavour and just melted in my mouth. Yummy! Side ribs or baby back ribs? Hmmm, they were equally delicious. The side ribs cost considerably less than the back ribs and had less meat on them but the flavour was excellent! Tough choice. Toss a coin. Long story short: Delicious! Go! Take it to the beach. Bring cutlery. The food screams summer picnic. Long story long: I usually get the beef brisket sandwich. It's simple and delicious, has a little bit of a kick. I recommend ordering the BBQ sauce on the side because then you can adjust that "sloppy-joe" level of it. I find that sometimes they put a lot then sometimes it's very little, so ordering on the side helped. Cornbread is a must-have. If you have some meat juices to dip it in... Hoo boy. I dream about the banana pudding dessert. Dream about it. It's decent portion, a little expensive, but worth it. There's just something about it that is so delicious with the crispy (Graham cracker?) bits on top and real banana chunks on the bottom. It doesn't taste like artificial banana, like the taste of that strep throat medicine I chose when I was a kid. I took my order to the beach, though I didn't get any cutlery, so double check with them or bring your own. The inconvenience was negligible to be honest. For all you meataholics this is the place for you. It's a no frills restaurant but the meat is good. I tried their brisket & some of their sides (cornbread, home fries). The beef brisket was so delicious. Cooked perfectly in my opinion. It was tender & easy to cut. This bbq sauce on the table was watered down. You gotta have a good bbq sauce if you're a bbq restaurant! That's one thing that disappointed me. The corn bread was good & so were the home fries. Food gets delivered on a metal tray on paper plates & containers. We used plastic cutlery for everything. Waitstaff were fine. We got the food quickly. But I think the kitchen was prepared for us because we were a large group. We took up most of the seats in the restaurant at about 20 people. Besides the bbq they also have alcoholic drinks for those that imbibe. Decor is pretty basic. Some wooden top tables with red metal chairs. Front counter is where you order & the base had mismatched wood which looks neat. The bar was on the right side. Seating is squishy in this place. It's not that big a restaurant. Washrooms are downstairs & okay looking. It's not the ritz but it was clean. I don't like this location because for me it's far from everything. The only way to get here besides by car is by bus two lines run nearby but not often. The 121 bus runs every 15 minutes. I feel like I'm out in the boonies. If I lived in the neighbourhood that might be different. We came here because we did a team building event just around the corner at Batl Axe Throwing. Needless to say since I don't live near here & I'm not often in the area I wouldn't likely eat here again. Okay, so I enjoyed my birthday dinner the year before so much I wanted to come back again. It seems that was a mistake this time. I have nothing but good things to say about the staff as they are wonderful. Sadly, this time the food was mostly a disappointment. We had the same platter but the brisket (my favourite the year before) was overcooked and a bit dried-out. Perhaps that's why our server suggested a side of BBQ sauce with the brisket? Also, the ribs were undercooked and very chewy. No falling off the bones here like I cook my own ribs. It's a shame really because I have recommended Cherry Street BBQ to many friends, and left a great review here last year, but won't be doing so anymore. We ordered from here for a team lunch. We had a few people with dietary restrictions so we were limited mostly to poultry as the main protein. They have both turkey and chicken available. We got orders of the chicken wings and the fried chicken (was surprised to see this as an option at a BBQ place!) was able to select either a BBQ sauce or a spicy one to go with it. Both the wings and the drumsticks are huge! The wings include both drum and the flat as an FYI. The wings were great as is without the sauce. The fried chicken had seasoning built into the breading so I found that I didn't even need the sauce for these. They have a really wide selection of sides to go with as well. We got a few orders of the brisket beans, coleslaw, and the potato salad. This is where I felt a little let down with what we ordered. The BBQ beans are listed on the menu as "all flavour and no meat". Well the BBQ beans and the brisket beans might as well have been interchangeable. We got very little meat with our beans. So little that we were left wondering if they gave us the wrong order. The coleslaw was bad. The taste was vinegar on raw vegetable. The potato salad was mostly just bland. I've passed by this place so many times and finally had some time to try it out. My friends and I ordered the wings, brisket and quarter chicken with mac & cheese, potato salad and fries to munch on. Everything was tender, moist and seasoned well. We were fighting over the thick brisket just because how it just fell off our forks and how good it tasted. The pickled radish that came with the entrees were a nice added touch. The restaurant feature a nice bar with plenty of wine and beer to choose from. We really enjoyed our food here and felt the prices were reasonable. This is definitely a great lunch spot to grab something quick and catch some games while you are at. Came here with a bunch of friends one afternoon for lunch and we all loved the food. We ordered a rack of ribs, an order of brisket, some beers, and home fries and mac & cheese. We all loved the ribs - our order was the perfect fall of the bone kind with just the right amount of sauce. My favourite was definitely the brisket - it was cooked to absolute perfection and the meat was super tender. Flavours all around were on point. I will say that the serving sizes of everything could have been bigger. For the amount of money we paid, we were expecting much more food - we didn't really get full on the food, the beers were more filling. The service here was decent - we came around 4:00pm for a late lunch but we felt like the service was lacking despite the place not being busy at this time. My review of 4/5 is based solely on the food. I'd come back here just for the amazing brisket. read more

Over the years I've been to Cherry bbq (the OG and Chefs Hall) a few times. My go to has been their brisket sandwich or plate. Before Covid it was amazing. Always moist with a good balance of protein to fat with a bit of bark for added flavour. Unfortunately lockdowns (and construction) have taken their toll at the Cherry street location. We went here after a morning at the golf range nearby. It's walking distance so you can leave your car at the golf range free parking if you drove. In terms of drinks, they have a very extensive selection of beers, both on tap and in can for a decent price. For food, I ordered the spare ribs (3 ribs) with a sausage link. I thought it wouldn't be enough as I was hungry after a morning of golf, but I was barely able to finish my plate. Lots of meat on the ribs and the sausage was stuffed to the brim. I think the ribs could have been a bit more tender however but it was still delicious. The only complaint was that the service was a bit slow. We finished all our food and no one came to take the plates away, so it attracted a lot of bees in the patio. However this is understandable given our currently situation / labor shortage. read more

It's certainly an adventure to get there due to the construction (not their fault) but oh my was it worth the journey. Went on a Sunday afternoon and enjoyed their Sunday special with a friend. Each of the meats were extremely tasty, the burnt ends were a flavour explosion and stood out to me. The ribs had a great seasoning and were almost fall of bone, and the brisket had a great smoke and seasoning and was a good meat to fat ratio. Even the chicken was unreal, which usually gets neglected at BBQ places. I could taste the smoke seeped into the chicken meat (not just on the skin), was really impressed. I ordered the pulled pork meat and quinoa salad. The pulled pork was flavoured very nicely! Slightly sweet and a subtle and not over powering bbq taste. The quinoa salad didn't have much flavour but was a great healthy option to pair with the meat. My friend ordered the beef brisket sandwich and the coleslaw and she said it was really good! My boyfriend who went after us also said that his favourite was the brisket because the meat was flavourful and so tender! I would definitely come back again. The portions aren't very large for the price but just right for me. I really liked the idea that you pay first at the entrance and then order drinks separately once you get seated. The servers were very nice and knowledgeable. The washrooms appear like they have a plumbing issue and believe it or not worse than camping washrooms...so be aware. Brisket + Mac and Cheese--- O.M.G. We stopped here to pick up some food mid-ride through the city and it was the best decision we made that day. The brisket was extremely tender, fatty, juicy, and flavourful: absolute perfection. The side of mac and cheese was one of the creamiest I've had in a long time. And BONUS: it was HEFTY. Just what I needed! I also had a few bites of the brisket sandwich, but I preferred just the brisket on its own. I felt like the bbq sauce overpowered the brisket a little bit, and took away from just how amazing the meat was by itself. With that said, it was still really tasty, and any meat that tried to escape from the sandwich ended up mixed into the mac and cheese--- and LET ME TELL YOU, it was GLORIOUS. A great spot for BBQ, ribs and hanging out on the patio (if you can find a spot). We came on a summer night and the weather was perfect for sitting outside. At night, they have pretty patio lights that make the space very intimate and welcoming. Also, there is bar conveniently situated outside for easy access to cold drinks and cocktails. The food is delicious and you can tell they took a long time smoking and cooking their various meat options. The prices are comparable to eating at a restaurant in central downtown, with a sandwich floating around the $11 mark. The ribs are on the more expensive side ($21 for half rack, $42 for full), but they are generous with their portions and worth a try. The restaurant location is a little bit of a hike, especially for those using the TTC. It's by the lower Donlands, at the very end of Cherry Street. I don't know what you would be doing here, unless you were going to Cirque or the nearby T&T. read more

Amazing. I had high expectations and they deliver. The concept is not a typical diner. The concept is like a food truck or fast food restaurant with tables inside as well as more in the patio. You approach the counter and order your meal from a menu posted on a big sheet of poster sized paper. All prices listed include tax and they will cross off the items that are sold out each day. Once you order, they give you a number display and you find a table anywhere on the premises. They also have a full bar to order beer on tap or rail drinks. I order their recommend double stack burger which was amazing. My friends wanted to try to brisket and philly steak sandwich. Next time, I will definitely order the brisket and ribs when I have a bigger appetite. The patio is larger than the inside so I am unsure whether they will operate during the winter due to size and location. They need to maximize the summer season by encouraging more people to come with great music from a live DJ. There is plenty of street parking as well as a few lots including a supermarket nearby. I called them to ask about reservations which they told me that it's first come first serve. However, I believe if you are a regular, they will make an exception as i saw the reservation signs whipped out when we left. Can't wait until I go back next time. read more

I've been coming to this neighborhood since 2006, im not sure how long this establishment has been here but I have been wasting my sweet time with other "common" places that are no longer worth my time. I was very fortunate to be in the area early before a concert and I was more then ready for a meal after a full day of chores. I got inside and was intantly greeted on arrival, because this was my first time here it was slightly overwhelming and I really had no clue where I was going. I was waved down to the cashier desk (of course) when I got there I was told that the brisket was the most popular option and came with the highest recommendation, I told them of my beef allergies and they said brisket is not an option...lol. I wanted some sandwiches, so I went with turkey, chicken and pulled pork, with a side of mac and cheese. my food arrived within ten minutes and it was a steaming piece of meat and mac/cheese. I was seriously impressed with the garishes that came with the sandwiches, the freshness and the bite in the pickled items were FANTASTIC. I didn't pick a bad sandwich, but I have to tell you that the turkey absolutely would be my favorite from the three and the mac and cheese was a fantastic choice as well. the bbq sauce at the table is a must try, it reminded me of arbys sauce, but way better and fresher(you should be selling that to the public) the service was great, everyone was smiling and super happy, and because I was sitting at the bar, I was watching someone be taught how to make the restaurants drinks. parking options are on the street or at the restaurant if its not busy. transit options are the 72B/C pape bus and the seasonal 121D. We got the 1/2 rack ribs, 1/2lbs turkey and 1/2lbs brisket. The ribs were awesome, and the brisket was fantastic. It was so juicy. Checked out this place today --- it's the real deal folks! You can buy a number of items in sandwich format or by the 1/2 pound. Hubby and I went the 1/2 pound route and ordered brisket, side ribs and some sausage. Sides are quite varied (home fries, mac'n cheese, potato salad, coleslaw (vinegar based), cowboy beans, frito pie and more). It's a casual spot. You walk up and make your choices and pay. They give you a # and you choose a table. They are licensed and you can either order non-alcoholic drinks with the food or the bartender will help you find something delish. Hubby had a beer and I had the Lavender Bourbon Lemonade (it's a keeper folks!). The food came on two trays and we shared it up. The brisket was moist and smokey and wonderful. The cowboy beans had chunks of meat in them and some heat. Watch out for the sausage folks -- if you are not a fan of spicy it's not for you! That lemonade sure did help keep the edge off. The ribs were wonderful. Caramelized on the outside and the meat came away from the bone easily. Needless to say we have found our new local BBQ hangout. Fun and casual and overlooking the ferry stop on Cherry street. Street parking is plentiful and service was knowledgeable and friendly. Ok - I see a lot of reviews on here for other places like Adamson, Beach Hill etc all claiming to serve true Texas style or southern style bbq. None of them nail every single item or almost every single item. Cherry Street does! Meats: Ribs - juicy, fall off the bone, flavourful. Pulled pork - juicy, nice sauce, great on some white bread Brisket - juicy and not dry and boring like the other guys, nice bark Chicken - SO juicy, probably the juiciest chicken I've ever had. Skin has a nice flavour and is crisp Sausage - Italian style, nice fennel notes. Nice snap on the skin, very juicy and such a great flavour. Also, it was pretty big. Sides: Mac and cheese - good! Cheesy! Cornbread - fluffy, a nice corn flavour. Best of our any bbq places I've had outside of Texas. Beans - awesome! lil bit of heat to em! Coleslaw - interesting take! The food here is really awesome. There are a few bbq places around town and I must say this is probably one of the best. We got the pulled pork sandwich (5 stars), the beans (5 stars, smoked alongside the meat for extra flavour), the Mac and cheese (4 stars), and the brisket (3.5 stars). The place is self serve so you have to go up to order and the food comes out super fast. Service in the patio overall on the other hand is super slow. The only downside of the place is more than half the menu was sold out when we went (at 7pm on a Sunday). The only meat options available were the pulled pork and brisket. When I asked why the waitress mentioned that they have limited capacity in their smokers - which I get except it doesn't explain why they were also out of home fries. All the food was good (except the meatball sandwich, I'll get to that after). But -1 for not having cornbread. Seriously? A BBQ PLACE without CORN BREAD!? Onto the meatball sandwich, it was meh. The bread was kind of stale, the sauce tasted similar to ragu and the meatball itself didn't taste or feel like it was made from ground beef (which I was expecting). Regarding everything else we ate; it was good. Not great. Definitely more serious BBQ smoke houses out there with much better food. The food here is pretty tasty and is well priced. Before alcohol, probably less than $40 total would get you stuffed. Similar to other BBQ places, you order first and find a table to eat at. Its generally pretty busy, especially when the patio is not open; it may be hard to find a table. We came once in the middle of summer and it was easy to find a seat inside. Came back again in the fall and the inside dining area is packed. The brisket is fine. Tasty, but definitely not the best I've had. The pulled pork was okay, but would not get again. Their sides are all amazing tho, especially the potatoes. We've come back here just for the potatoes. If you don't mind walking for 4-5 minutes, there is lots of street parking around the corner. read more

Four stars because for the price you pay you would expect table service. With that in mind, when walking in and going up to the order counter and throughout the end of our meal service was very good. What I did enjoy about the place was the atmosphere, totally relaxed and comfortable. We got there around noon and we were their first diners. The bronze medal Canadian Olympic Games were on and food was delicious. We ordered: - Full Rack of Ribs - Brisket - Double-Stacked Cherry Mac - Frito Pie - 2 orders of Home Fries This came to over $30/pp and there were 4 of us. The ribs reminded me of Chinese BBQ ribs done juicily but it seems like $40 for about 7-8 ribs was too expensive. The brisket and the spices on it was what was worth it. Apparently there is a night staff that comes in to monitor the smoker and that's how the flavour is created--slow BBQ'd. The Double-Stacked Cherry Mac is pretty much a Big Mac made with brisket meal--it was good but what I found lacking was the flavour in the meat--but wow this burger dropped grease like no tomorrow! The Frito Pie was delicious and it was basically a bag of Frito Lay cut open, cheese sauce and jalapeño introduced to it. Downside, no sauce on the bottom so half of it was basically eatting chips out of the bag which means you're way over paying for this! Everything was delicious but it is on the expensive side. Although I was full I cold have eaten more. There is a bar area where you can get your drinks which is quite annoying because you probably would just want to pay for everything at once... This restaurant is opposite to the Big Top for Cirque du Soleil. Therefore, it's a convenient option for show-goers. It's a little hard to get to if you're not already in the area, however. For all you TTC riders, I hope you will be able to board the 72 bus at Pape Station instead of finding the 72 bus stop around Harbourfront. I was surprised at how far apart the bus stops were and how few people in that area could pinpoint the stop's location for me. Ambiance-wise, you will enjoy this place if you are used to the loud, casual pub scene. The tables are placed close to one another, so you're sure to hear your neighbour's conversation and thus have problems hearing your own. I actually like the loud pub scene while having a few drinks, but my company didn't like struggling to hear our conversation. Despite the positive Yelp reviews, I was sadly disappointed with the food. Price-wise, I found the items to be on the more expensive side even though several Yelpers hailed the restaurant for its affordability. This opinion was mainly based on the fact that you have to pay separately for the sides, each of which cost anywhere between 5-7 dollars. Also, the menus are handwritten on the walls, so I am sure the prices change depending on the market. We ordered the brisket, mac and cheese, and the sausage in a bun. The mac and cheese was a clear winner for us that night. It was creamy and had a deep, rich flavour. On the other hand, the brisket was unbearably dry. They serve the brisket with two slices of white bread and a side of onions, pickles and pepper, but the brisket's dryness was emphasized when sandwiched between these ingredients. Lastly, the sausage in a bun could have been a winner if the sausage wasn't so salty. You know the Costco hot dogs? It was saltier than those! Unfortunately, two hours after eating here, my company and I both got stomach aches. We didn't eat anything after leaving the restaurant, so we suspect that the restaurant did not prepare our food properly.... Overall, we will not be returning. We will most likely opt to get our munchies fix at the nearby T&T Supermarket. read more

Not a bad experience, not amazing either, we ordered a ton of food, and some of it was excellent and some of it was... not good, The Beef brisket was excellent, moist, and not too fatty, nice rub on it and a good bark, The fried Cauliflower was really tasty, the Beans were delicious and were excellent as sauce for the brisket if you were adventurous. The home fries were boring and undercooked, we got a few crunchy raw ones, when you frying potatoes that chunky, you need to double fry them or fry them longer. it appears their oil was too hot. and finally their mac and cheese needs more work, they use cavatappi noodles, which is great for a baked mac and cheese, but not a mac and cheese with a runny sauce, what we received was REALLY dry, we didn't eat that either. Their sauces, were not good in any way, really odd flavors, and honestly tasted like tweaked store bought salad dressings, their chicken wings, just wierd, they are way too big, they were not crispy in any way, the skin was rather rubbery which made the wings really unappetizing, we honestly did not eat them, however the sauce was good, with a great punch of spice. i'll give 4 stars only because what was good was tasty, if i could give 3.5 stars, i would as that seems to be the most accurate rating. read more

Southern American review here! You've been warned, haha! GREAT SPOT, give 'em a try. The vibe and decor of this joint is cool, blues jamming through the house speakers and the proprietors are nice and welcoming. I ordered the Brisket Sandwich, 1/2 spare ribs, caesar salad, and the on tap IPA. This is a sauce on the meats BBQ joint, and they put a lot of love intro this sauce. The ribs were juicy, tinder and fell right off the bone. Their sauce is a Carolina Sweet and tangy sort of thing with some special seasoning notes, paired with the ribs, it's great. The brisket sandwich, i would call a pulled or shredded beef sandwich, dare i say sloppy joe, Not brisket slices on the bun. This was shredded beef with sauce married to the beef, the sauce here was a little too much. However, tasty toppings and choice of bun made it very fresh. The Caesar salad was an excellent side option, i don't ever see this as a side! The beer was great too. Next time I'm on Cherry street, I'll be swinging back in! Cheers!! read more

We ordered from this joint for the first time last night. We went in hard with a variety of dishes. Here's the verdict. The beef brisket was excellent. Of course it was a bit fatty, but not to any excess. The cauliflower bites were a hit too. I also enjoyed their home fries and baked beans. I found their mac and cheese very dry, and I was not a fan of their wings because they were massive and difficult to eat. Having said that, they were cooked well and the flavour was on point. I wasn't a huge fan of the accompanying sauces, but I am sure they would work for other people. All in all, it was a decent spread and value for the money. read more
