Now I'm not even gonna lie--the prices have definitely gone up a bit. The extra large crabs were $109 a dozen, so I grabbed a half dozen... and BABY... when I tell you those crabs did NOT disappoint!! They were BIG, heavy, and FULL! Not the prettiest things either--rusty, ugly little shells--but don't let that fool you. Honeyyyy, they were sweet, juicy, and packed with meat! I absolutely indulged with zero regrets. And let's talk about that butter I ordered on the side... whew! That just took everything over the top. Shoutout to the guys at Jesse Taylor--they did their thing! Great crabs, great flavor, and always worth the stop when I'm in the area. I'll definitely be back... even if it's just once a year! If you're nearby, go ahead and check them out--they're worth it, for real.

Be ready to get messy! I've been at this seafood market for many many markets. Since it's been revamped, prices have gone up. There were smaller stalls that also shut down as a result. So it only leaves Jessie Taylor's standing. The soups were good but I would've loved much more crab in my New England chowder. My partner got a corn on the cob and shrimp and the clam chowder. All were tasty and salty!

It's a lovely thing to wander through before heading in to eat just a few feet away. The setting itself doesn't feel like Washington at all. With the charming little patio and relaxed vibe, you could imagine you're in another country, and it strikes a wonderful balance between easygoing and sophisticated. Little touches go a long way for me, and they nailed them here: silverware with the lovely illusion of polished silver and elevated stemware that added an extra bit of vibe to the whole experience. The staff were wonderfully accommodating from the start: everything was still soaked from the heavy rain the night before, but they went out of their way to set us up in a lovely shaded spot so we'd stay cool and comfortable. That same care showed up in a much bigger way later, when one of our party passed out from a health issue unrelated to the meal, and the team handled it with calm, attentiveness, and real heart. Now, the food. The brunch menu hits all the classics, chicken and waffles, eggs Benedict with fun variations featuring crab and smoked fish, all the good stuff. I settled on the lobster roll, which was incredibly good, served with Old Bay fries that came out perfectly hot and crisp, exactly the way fries should always arrive, with ketchup on the side. We also tried the tuna tartare and the buffalo oysters, which were a blast: fried oysters with a blue cheese dressing and hot sauce, served in the cutest presentation in shells on smooth lake pebbles. On the drinks side, I had a "Bloody Margaret," a gin-based riff on a Bloody Mary, and it was wonderfully spicy, just the way I like it. The cocktail list overall is playful and worth exploring. Oysters are clearly one of their fortes. They focus on Virginia oysters, so it's a single variety, but they do a lot with it across a range of preparations. There's also a fun Virginia peanut-centric theme running through the menu.

It is pricey, lucky for me it was my birthday and I could simply enjoy myself. My cocktail was exquisite, forgot what it was called but reminded me of a pina colada, but not as thick. The flavor and the freshness of the Whole fried fish, with fragrant herbs, tamarind and lime dressing was good. The Parker House Rolls were fluffy, but nothing I would put on the highly recommended list. Our waiter was very kind and personable. Other than that, I'm not sure if I would come back. Most people enjoy Caribbean style restaurants that master various fish for a fraction of the price and more food. While the "more food part" may be considered low- brow, I'm sure I am saying what many are thinking.

Food service was also super attentive and kind. The bar area was a decently large space perfect for dining inside after a long day. We were lucky enough to have come before the rain and had great views as the sun set. The food was fresh, flavorful, and we loved everything we had. Ceviche, octopus, and muscles were spectacular but loved the fresh oysters too (clearly since I forgot a photo). Will absolutely be back for custom cocktails and great service.

Juan & Will made sure our bottomless mimosas were truly bottomless, our plates were never empty on the table, and that they were attentive to our needs! Last time I dined at La Vie, was when I proposed to my wife in 2019. It was an amazing expirenced and very special occasion (for me) with amazing food and customer service. Our expirence at HH today was no different. We had a group of 5 and sat that the bar. The drinks and food HH specials are decently priced. The same quality you would receive if it weren't HH. Very friendly, attentive, polite. Just seemed like an all around nice guy and. True professional. It was impressive just watching him craft cocktails. Marvin was our server and gave us complimentary tasting of the "Marvin Margaritas" his own made up concoction of Passion fruit juice margarita. It was exquisite! We were all pleasantly surprised for the complementary tasting. But more surprised as how good it tasted. Hands down one of the best margaritas I had ever tasted. This should be on the main drinks menu. (Marvin's true calling is a mixologist) We were a small group of people and just did appetizers and cocktails. We really enjoyed catching up. But the way Marvin treated us middle class customers, He makes you feel like you are a VIP! He just scored 5 loyal customers and I plan on visiting him again at HH on Tuesdays when my schedule permits. La Vie is truly high end, the decor, the amazing views, the service and the food and beverages! The place is immaculate. If you or your friend like to take selfies, this restaurant is full of amazing backgrounds, from the windows overlooking the wharf to the hallways.

The restaurant was extremely busy, with the line out the door, so I understand it was a hectic day. However, the service was exceptionally slow. It took over 30 minutes for our order to even be entered into the system, and we waited about an hour for our food, including the appetizers. Our server, Brandon, started off okay after we were seated, but as the evening went on, he seemed distracted and less attentive to our table. With a large group that included children and a baby, we definitely needed more communication and support. The standout of the evening was the management team, especially Brandy. She was truly all hands on deck and went above and beyond to assist us. She was kind, customer-focused, and worked hard to address concerns and make sure guests felt taken care of. She honestly provided the best service we received during our visit. The food had several highlights. The char-grilled octopus was delicious and my first time trying it. The salad was top tier, and the shrimp fettuccine was probably one of the best dishes on the menu. The deviled eggs were good but could use a little more seasoning. The fish sandwich needed more sauce, and the fries and shrimp po' boy were both enjoyable, especially with extra sauce. One thing I didn't appreciate was the layout and accessibility of the restaurant. The space felt overcrowded, and the tables were packed very tightly together. As we were leaving, I had my son in his stroller and there wasn't enough room to comfortably get through. I was disappointed that our server didn't offer to help adjust the table or create a path for us to exit. I also noticed there weren't ramps that would make it easier for strollers or guests with mobility challenges to navigate the space. Improving accessibility and spacing would make a huge difference in the overall experience. Overall, the food and Brandy's exceptional customer service were the highlights of the visit. However, the long wait times, overcrowded seating, and accessibility concerns kept this from being a higher-rated experience.
