Great pizza. Cash only as I recall. I don't remember if they impose insanity rules. The best pizza around by far.

This is one of our favorite pizza places! We always call and pick it up. Our pizza is always made quickly and tastes great! Any time we have out of town guests we get this for them to try! Had to try this place one more time before leaving a review. At first glance I was hesitant and then we walked in, no cash or checks (not a deal breaker), and lack some common things like ranch dressing (almost a deal breaker). But the food is actually pretty good. The place defiantly caters to the older generations but ultimately it is a very decent place to eat and I think it is a well hidden secret. Could probably use some modern updates but if it keeps the crowds away I am happy!! read more

I went to Chesapeake Pizza yesterday afternoon. I thought the place was closed at first. It was very dark looking in, and there were no cars in the front lot, After finding that they were open, I went in and Ordered. I wanted Tea, but found they had no Lemons only Limes???? Then I wanted a Greek Salad, No Kalamata Olives????, I guess they want to hold down their costs, while still charging full prices. Our Waiter had to be flagged down each time We needed something, He was too busy sitting with a young girl who was studying. I wont be back. We have been coming here for over 30 plus years and the food was amazing. Now they run out of pizza, dont answer the phone and over all the quality of the food has gone down, not to mention the cooks in the kitchen aren't the cleanest looking. If you're looking for nice decor or a menu with a lot of variety, then Chespeake Pizza is not for you. However, if you are looking for some delicious pizza, then this is the place. I've been going to Chesapeake Pizza for several years now (since 1995)...I love their pizza! It's different from most typical pizza joints. The Greeks can make good pizza too! My wife loves their Greek salads, I do too. We usually order to go but occasionally we will dine in. Customer service is usually above average. Most of the servers are friendly and very good. My uncle who lived in northern Virginia and passed away a couple of years ago would visit me once or twice a year and this was his favorite pizza, he would always order a pizza with everything on it and take it back to Falls Church with him and he would freeze some of it so he could enjoy later. My only gripe is that they don't accept credit cards. Cash only! But they do have an ATM there if you need it. read more

Always looking for a restaurant/pizza place that will deliver - so we thought we'd give Chesapeake Pizza a shot. Guy drives up our road, one wheel in the middle of the road, one on the grass (much rain - soggy soft soil). Guy drives out, one wheel in the middle of the road, one on the grass. Leaves a big rut in our driveway which will soon be dead grass. Called the place, was told the owner would be immediately informed - no call back. Oh yeah, the pizzas . . . Best pizza! Best sauce! Best crust! It's kind of ridiculous how amazing this place is! We've had it Togo a few times and it's delicious! Tonight we came in and actually ate inside the restaurant and had a fresh pizza. It took a while because the waitress came out and said they had an accident in the kitchen and they threw us a fresh one in the oven. In the mean time she gave us free cheesy bread (which is amazing) and then at the end she took off 4 beers and the drink my wife and son had. Customer service at its best! This place is the definition of a horrible restaurant. Everything tastes like it is frozen or out of a can. Definitely doesn't taste authentic. Every time my family has gone, someone has become sick from the pizza. The fact that they require you to pay cash and it's 2014 is a sign that they are stuck in their old ways. I am not sure why this place has such good reviews unless people just have sentimental attachment to it from growing up eating here. The pizza was overly greasy, the toppings and sauce tasted straight out a can, the staff was not very attentive, and they don't take debit/credit cards. The prices are reasonable, so I will give them credit for that, and it is a good family friendly place, but everything else leaves something to be desired. My original post was flagged- I'm assuming to the fact that I gave it two stars. Let me try again, with a very, very generous three stars. Note: the events below did happen as I state. I have nothing against Chesapeake Pizza other than what is mentioned below. I usually give places a second chance, which I did with Chesapeake Pizza. I went again, after a few years. Both times, I received unsatisfactory service. This last time, it took 15 minutes for our waitress to even show up at our table. She would come back every 15 minutes to ask if we needed anything. Each time, I would have my empty cup six inches from the edge of the table to make visible. I asked if I could have a refill, which seemed to inconvenience her greatly. She was polite, but didn't really seem like she wanted to serve us. My wife could see our waitress helping out in the kitchen, but she didn't seem overly busy. The place smells as if they used to allow smoking at one time, and couldn't completely remove the smell. Also, the place looks like it hasn't been updated in 20+ years. Those issues are fine. I would go back if those were the only problems. Our food arrived about 45 minutes after we got there. The place was not that busy. We ordered some kind of veggie pizza, which was so-so. I didn't mind that they only took cash, but that also is an inconvenience. Their biggest fault is their service. We tried to eat as quickly as we could (we were on a schedule), but it took 1.5hrs to get out of there. Our experience was almost identical to the first one we had a few years prior. People rave about the place, so it could be that we aren't likable or serviceable people. They could do much better, service-wise and taste-wise. read more

When the older gentleman ran the business from 1984 till the mid nineties the pizza was some of the best I have ever tried. A younger generation runs it now and I was very disappointed one night. I was livid and so mad I was ranting. I've been around the world and I have a sensitive palette. What they tried to serve me was much different and cheaper than what I was accustomed to. NOT VERY QUICK REVIEW! INTRO: This is locally owned pizza place located in the heart of Great Bridge. It's quite unique and eccentric in ways that are both good and bad, but mostly good. THE GOOD: The pizza is great. Really great actually. Plus, it's a little different than the type of pie you'd find at places like Y-Not, or Sal's, or any of the delivery places. When I first moved to the area from VA Beach, I remember driving by the place and joking with my wife (then girlfriend) "is this where you go for authentic Chesapeake style pizza?". She was like, "that place is actually really good". She was right. Perhaps the idea of "Chesapeake style pizza" isn't so ridiculous after all. It's a bit more crusty than say a NY style pie, and they use more sauce too. The sauce is really great by the way. I'm someone that occasionally flirts with the idea of getting extra sauce on a pizza (which my NY pizza loving friends find ridiculous), but that's certainly not necessary here. The toppings seem pretty fresh too, and the cheese is excellent. In addition to pizza they also have subs, pasta, and some appetizers. Also, if you eat in, the decor and ambiance is very quaint, and reminds me of going out for pizza with my family when I was a kid. THE NOT SO GOOD: As other reviewers have pointed out, Chesapeake Pizza has a strict no credit cards policy. In an age where even Mr. Jims (another local favorite) down the street allows mobile phone payments, Chesapeake Pizza is steadfastly cash only. Honestly, this would be a five star review if it weren't for this stubbornness. As someone who recently became part owner of a small business just a few years ago, I know for a fact that credit card payments are really not a big hassle in this day and age. They're actually easier than cash in some ways. The ATM there only has $1.50 service fee, but still it's 2016 for crying out loud. The future = now. The prices here are not exactly cheap, but this is pretty consistent with most other locally owned pizza places. OVERALL: The bottom line here, and as others have said, the pizza here is good enough to justify putting up with this place's eccentricities. As annoying as "cash only" is in this day and age, Chesapeake Pizza is a real gem with a style all it's own that should not be overlooked. read more

It's cash only, but they do have an ATM machine. The pizza is pretty good. They don't have a lot of menu options though (no ranch, only two types of pasta, no Mr. Pipp for example). I cannot believe that will all the technology this place refuses to accept any payment method other than cash. "Conveniently" enough, however, they have an ATM right on the lobby which will charge you a processing fee. So, they decided to put the fee on the client rather than the business. It might be just me, but I have a hard time trusting a business that only processes payments in cash.
