I've been eating at Chesapeake Pizza for 20 years. It's still my favortist pizza in the whole world and I make my parents take me there every time I go back home for a visit. They also make a great house salad, chunky spaghetti, and delicious subs. New visitors might think it needs a renovation inside, but it has looked the same for 20+ years and that makes is kinda special. read more

Having grown up in Great Bridge, Chesapeake Pizza has been an institution in the community. However they are frequently out of menu items that are purchased when making online orders. I ordered baklava with my meal and it was out. I guess once you order online it is difficult for them to refund money since they only accept cash on site. Also my Greek salad had a minimal amount of feta and was mostly iceberg lettuce. The to go quality was not up to the typical in house standards. read more

The food and service was above average, but not as great as everyone says. As others have said the sauce was good.A little annoying they only take cash. And it needs a remodel on the inside in the main dining area, very dated. Overall a fairly nice family atmosphere and I will go back. read more

How is this place still in business? In a word, the food sucks.. The pizza is so greasy that you can actually pour it off!!! The only reason that I can think of why this place is still in business is because people tend to "ride" on the enthusiasm and hipe of others instead of forming their own opinions......or they like grease! We're new to Chesapeake and needed to grab a quick dinner after a long night at school. We telephoned in an order after a recommendation from a long time resident and brought the pizzas home. The pizzas were great. Super crust - not too thick, and great taste. We've gone back twice and will go back again. They're fast too. Be aware that they only take cash! Tried Chesapeake Pizza for the first time 06/26/2013 based on all the local "hype" I was prepared to be blown away!. First of all they do not accept ANY plastic, cash only! But they DO have an ATM conveniently placed just inside the door so you can "buy" cash. The pizza was "OK" but not the best I've had. We ordered a four topping pizza one being extra cheese. When I paid at the register I noticed an additional charge on the receipt (that I had to ask for). Not sure why I had to ask for the receipt though "wink wink". Seems as though cheese is not a regular topping, it's an additional $2.50. So what I paid for is a four topping pizza with only three toppings and an additional $2.50 for extra cheese. WATCH your check charges and be sure to ask your waitress what you will be charged for!! Look at your check and ASK FOR A RECEIPT~! read more

I've been a repeat customer here for years. The pizza never disappoints. I love the thick crust and cheese. And there's always friendly service. They are cash only though however there is an ATM inside. Going back feels like coming home to familiar faces and good food. read more

Maybe it's the childhood memories, but to me, Chesapeake Pizza is the best pizza in Hampton Roads. Hands down. They are completely no-frill. In fact, I think they are still using the same plates and cups from 20 years ago. Despite that, the pizza is amazing. Try it! But be warned that it is cash only. :) read more

I've gone to Chesapeake Pizza for years, and while they offer other choices on the menu, I've never strayed from the pizza. Chesapeake Pizza is a nice sit down dinner serving just the best pizza. This is a great place for all occasions, whether it's family or friends it will certainly fit the mood. Though the lines may get lengthy at some points it's worth the wait. The pizza is to die for, also coming in good sized portions. They give you relatively fast service, on a normal day. Thanks but no thanks. I have always heard that Chesapeake Pizza had great pizza so my family & I decided to try it out. We ordered 3 pizzas. One for my husband & I, one for my daughter and one for my other daughter who is allergic to tomatoes. After we placed the order, the waitress comes back to tell us that they cannot make the pizza without the sauce because the pizzas are pre-made in the morning & placed in the freezer with sauce already on them. We tried to cancel the order completely but the pizzas were apparently already put in. I guess if you pre-make pizza it does not take any time to make them but they should have told us prior to making the others. I just found this to be rather ridiculous. The pizzas are obviously not freshly made. The waitress offered other suggestions like subs or pasta but we did not come for subs or pasta, we came for pizza. I will say that the pizza was not horrible but it was not the best either. If I want pre-made pizza I could just grab one out of the grocers freezer. Also, if you can accommodate a simple request such as no sauce on pizza, why waste my time or money. Thanks but no thanks. read more

The wife and I decided to try out this pizza place because we had heard good things about it. When we got there we had no problem getting a seat. (It filled up shortly after we got there though). We ordered the cheese bread and a medium deluxe pizza. The cheese bread was nothing more than Texas Toast with some cheese draped across it. For $3 I couldn't complain too much though. Once the pizza got there, it looked pretty good. I took my first bite and was underwhelmed. It tasted like something was missing. .. like flavor. My wife and I both got to the crust at the same time. As soon as we took a bite of crust we had the same reaction. It tasted like Digiorno frozen pizza. Don't get me wrong, I can kill a Digiorno pizza, but Digiorno pizza doesn't cost $20 with tax. We were very "meh" about the whole experience. Of note, their beer selection was VERY small and they are cash only. I don't see us returning. read more
