Came to town for a concert and Tavolo was nearby our hotel. I was going back and forth between pizza and pasta, and sadly made the wrong choice. I ordered shrimp scampi only for it to taste bland and watery. Definitely get the pizza next time. However, I did enjoy the calamari and New York cheesecake.

I love industrial upstate New York towns. I love multiple competing Italian-American restaurants. I love cities that have disproportionate numbers of eateries because of the rich immigrant history. And I loved Chesterfield's Tavolo. Chicken parm like how my mom would make it, served with a dollop of ricotta on top, because why not add more cheese? Warm buttery pull-apart bread with a spicy marinara, put out almost immediately when we sat down. A cheesecake with eleventy options for toppings at no charge, including Italian cherries and fresh whipped cream. And a waitress who knew enough to pause when I said no to the whipped cream ... because of course I changed my mind to yes. Loved that this place was hopping at 5:15 on a Saturday. Loved that service was friendly and efficient. Loved the huge portions and constantly refilled beverages. And loved that I got to look like the coolest aunt ever to my collegiate nephew, who I was visiting for the weekend and treating to a meal. Can't wait to go back.

Credible authentic Italian food in Utica. Wine sauce that went on to this was absolutely incredible. It made the dish stellar. Flavors here are out of this world and this is worth the stop

Bikes are a focal point in this restaurant that add to the experience.

The pasta purses are to die for! The service was great as well. The ambiance is industrial style. Definitely would say a Utica hot spot for pasta dishes.

    Chicken caprese

Bread was great. Meal came with pita instead of listed pasta with no warning. Chicken was hard to eat as bones were under the mess of untraditional caprese offerings. Overall 4/10.

The vibe at this restaurant is fun and lots of energy! The decor has nostalgic notes and there are lots to see. We had a late reservation but the staff continued to to be attentive and accommodating. We appreciated their ability and willingness to split the check 3 ways! The food was all well-made and delicious! The pasta was fresh, not dried, and the bolognese had a lot of spicy sausage. The only surprise was the cocktail sauce that came with the fried calamari. I expected marinara since it was an Italian restaurant.

It was very good did wait to be seated and service was fast. My food was also delicious very warm and came some what fast. It over all it was amazing inside the two bikes were very cool for little ones. Over all it was a good experience and I enjoyed it. I recommend the pasta purses.

"Something was definitely there It was a time when things were good I felt peace in the neighborhood" (Paul McCartney) When we were escorted to our table in the main dining room, I couldn't help but notice a big message painted on the upper wall over their open kitchen - "From the Old Neighborhood". And that's exactly what Chesterfield's Tavolo reminded me of - a friendly informal unpretentious neighborhhod restaurant. They have a large menu specializing in Italian foods -pizza, pasta, seafood, chicken and veal. We started off with a complimentary serving of toasted cheese dusted bread and a fantastic marinara dipping sauce. For our dinner, we split a salad and a pizza. Our Tavolo Salad ($14) was a generous portion of artisan lettuce, cucumbers, grape tomatoes, crispy onions, crumbled blue cheese, black olives, diced bacon, and a balsamic vinaigrette dressing. It was super fresh and excellent - plenty for us to share. We went with a cheese pizza ($17) - eight slices with a thin crust, shredded mozzarella and marinara sauce. The pizza was very good. We had a terrific meal that was very welcome after our drive from Toronto.

I was tempted to give it four stars because they are open only two days a week.

He mentioned it is the second oldest pizzeria in America, so I had to check it out. I'm so glad I did. This is a really cute, community-oriented spot with a warm and welcoming feel. I ordered a small pizza, but "small" definitely does not feel small here. It was actually a great size. More importantly, the pizza was super fresh and extremely delicious. What stood out just as much as the food was how kind everyone was. As someone visiting from out of town, I really appreciated how warm and friendly the people were. It also felt like the kind of place that would be great for hosting a casual party or gathering. Highly recommend. If you're in Utica, this is definitely a place you need to try.

I have been coming to this establishment for far too many years to admit to and it never disappoints. Not much has changed here over the years other than the prices. The restaurant is nothing fancy and most of their business is take out but to me nothing beats one of their fresh out of the oven pies with their gooey cheese on the bottom and crispy crust. On a warm summer night you can find me sitting outside at their picnic table enjoying a fresh hot pie.

My veal parmigiana was tender, perfectly cooked, nicely sauced, and covered with just the right amount of cheese. The side salad was average in terms of content and presentation, but the balsamic dressing was quite good. The garlic bread had a nice flavor and texture as well. While I didn't have a chance to try any drinks, there is a full bar on-site. Overall, I'd be happy to eat there again, but stop on in and see what you think.
