The menu and food quality are very good. I have eaten here twice with a group of friends and liked their outdoor dining area. But, the service by the owner's wife needs an attitude improvement. She can be curt and abrupt and seems to have to imply your wine choice is cheap if we didn't order more expensive wine. Some warmth and friendliness would be very welcome. I ate there for lunch today with my friend.It's the first restaurant either of us ate at for a long time.This was our first time at Chez Mansour. We sat outside,it was very comfortable.I take out food from places lately at times, but my friend hasn't,in a long while.It is a really nice place. The owners are really nice. We both had the lamb Kabob, whole meal,comes with salad.and rice.The lamb was quality and good,at least to us.I haven't cooked lamb so long ago ,I don't remember,or eaten lamb for a long time. It was a delicious meal.We also had hummus and pita for an appetizer.It was delicious.We both took food home.I asked what wine goes with lamb and the woman owner suggested a red.It was really good and it complimented the tasty food.It did add up but it was so worth it.Someone at another table had the lamb chop and says he comes there once a week to get that.That's what I will try next time.My friend really enjoyed and liked the food also. Then we walked down the street ,a few stores to go to Enoteca wine shop.He is still having a huge wine sale,plus so many great ones on sale and not on sale.He gets in new ones constantly.He knows so much about wines,if you need suggestions or advice he can help.I like wine but don't know much so he is very helpful to me.He is also very nice,charming and funny.but he is trying to stay in bushiness and get more customers.He closed his wondeerful restaurant because what's been going on.But always was involved in wines,selling wine,he had a wine bar,etc.Nice outing. This was a major disappointment. We had heard and read good things about this restaurant, so we decided to take some out-of-town friends there, but the reality didn't match the expectations. The space itself is nice; the architecture has a very warm appeal with the old-time solid-wood bar and the furnishings, so that's a plus--but that's also where it stops. When it comes to service and food, there's a lot of ground to make up. First, the waitress (perhaps the owner?) was extremely chilly and curt, as well as hard to understand. When we asked about the pricing of meals (there were two prices for each dish, one that included rice or potatoes and one that didn't), she mumbled something about the higher price being "because it's dinner," implying that the higher price automatically applied because it was the dinner hour. Later, we realized that wasn't true and that we could have ordered the cheaper version, especially when we realized the $5.00 difference was for nothing other than a pile of rice or potatoes. Big ripoff. The mezza plate we ordered for an appetizer was good; the problem was that it was the best part of the meal. Everything else was entirely undistinguished as Middle Eastern cuisine goes. The chicken and lamb were both overcooked to the point of dryness in those dishes, the small green salads were nothing special and neither was the rice or potatoes. But the real killer came when she delivered my girlfriend's scallop dish--with two(!) scallops--for $32.00. When we asked about it while paying the check, the waitress confirmed that, yes, two was the correct number. That's not a dinner dish, that's a sampler plate. So, we won't be going back again. Stopped by this new restaurant and had heard they served excellent Mediterranean lamb. I was not disappointed, the garlic rosemary marinade was superior and some of the best prepared lamb I have had. They as well serve the traditional hummus and tabouleh that I like. They are take out for now as all restaurants at this period. I did see a new sign on the door of a pending wine and beer license they mentioned would be operational by the next week. They seem to have well stocked choice of wine I am looking forward to sampling on my next take-out or eat -in, when hopefully this pandemic will have passed! read more

I really love the food here, it's very good. I highly recommend their baked eggplant, I've been eating it for about 2 years now. However recently I came in and ordered my usual baked eggplant with blue cheese and pine nuts. I ordered two, one to go and one to eat there. However what I got was some lovely baked eggplant with pomegranate. I actually can't eat pomegranate due to a food allergy. The waitress told me that this is what I ordered. I looked closer at the menu, and saw there were two baked eggplant, listed with the same name. But one came with blue cheese and one came with pomegranate. I had no idea. I would have thought if two dishes have the same name, they would have asked me which one I wanted. The waitress was very insistent that I had wanted the pomegranate one. "See, I wrote down with pomegranate" she showed me her note. I can't eat pomegranate, so I'm pretty sure I would never order it. I sent the food back, but they wouldn't make me the dish I ordered. So I left having paid a lot of money and very hungry. I took the to-go order home and gave it to a friend of mine. She said it was very good. I do love the food here, but I very much got the feeling they don't want me to come back. They seemed annoyed. So I do suggest be super clear ordering what you want because the menu can be ambiguous and if there's a miscommunication, you may end up hungry and paying anyway. read more

I don't usually write restaurant reviews but I am compelled to comment on our recent experience at Chez Mansour. Three of us went for dinner and sat outside in the parklet. We ordered two beet salads and a beef kabob, a lamb kabob, and a plate of two (required at dinner, $23) scallop kabobs. I specifically asked that she bring the salads before the dinner, she said she'd try, nevertheless, the food came all at once. Okay, no big deal. The beets in the salads were in chunks - cold, hard, and tasteless. The beef kabob was overcooked and the two scallop kabobs turned out to be just four barely-bitesize scallops, plus rice and a small salad. When the waitress brought the bill and asked us how we liked our meal, we told her that we were disappointed. She insisted on getting her boss (I assume the owner) who asked us what the problem was. To say the least, he was less than accommodating. When I complained about the beet salads he replied that it was one of his favorites. When I mentioned the scant amount of scallops he asked me if I had any idea how much they cost him. Then he walked away. The topper is that, much later, in the middle of the night, the person who ate the lamb kabob experienced a sudden, explosive illness, obviously the result of having eaten the lamb. Chez Mansour is not just a restaurant but an experience. I am middle eastern myself, born in Egypt but I have never tasted better food than at chez mansour. The ambiance of the place is incredible. Very clean and elegant. In addition, the owner of the restaurant is one of the most charismatic and charming men I have ever met. He walks around ensuring all the customers are pleased with their experience and food. Highly recommend coming here. I left not only satisfied with the food but having gained new friends!!! A delightful new venue, in a beloved old space. The food was delicious, plentiful, beautifully presented. This time we had only small plates. Next time will try the heartier kebabs plus sides. This place has a great atmosphere (even with COVID - great parklet w solid tables and heat lamps) and great food. You can tell the people working there care about what they're doing. The variety and quality of the food in the menu is impressive. Sometimes I'm feeling lots of vegetables and sometimes I'm feeling more into meat, and they check both of those boxes every time. Went for lunch just after this place opened and loved it. Returned for dinner a few weeks later and found an entirely different place. The service was agonizingly slow, the portions had changed, and the temperature of some of the food was off. I asked the waiter how a certain dish was to be served and he said "room temperature," which was understood; however, warm exterior and cold interior does not room temperature make. It really is a shame because this place could have been one of a kind. Btw, they don't have a liquor license at this time so BYOB. Probably won't be back anytime soon. read more

ordered delivery from here last night and food was incredible! the veggie mezze plate is awesome, super fresh and creamy hummus + baba ganoush. the fatoush salad is super fresh and flavorful. falafels are awesome. plus, one of the items we ordered was out so they replaced it with sides of okra and of green beans which was so sweet! overall delicious and great for the price, will definitely be ordering again. awesome for vegetarians too read more

We love to support small businesses in our community and were excited to try this new place. The menu looked interesting so we made a reservation for last night (2/12/2020) at 7:30 p.m. Before going, I decided to read some yelp reviews and I'm sure glad I did. Even though there were several mentions of horribly rude service we decided to still check it out. Upon reading further, I noticed that someone mentioned that they didn't have a liquor license so I called ahead to double-check that and ask if we could bring our own wine. The woman who answered the phone confirmed that they didn't have a license and that they aren't charging a corkage fee but that if she sees that we bring our own wine she's going to be really upset. Really? Why not just say "we aren't allowed to have liquor here at this time, and we apologize for the temporary inconvenience." That would have been fine. When I asked to speak to the owner she said she was the owner. It all makes sense now-- these horrible reviews on here are about HER, the owner. She was so condescending and bitchy I could NOT believe my ears. I made sure to let her know that she might want to read some of these reviews up on here about bad service and disappointed customers and her response was that she and everyone has the right to do and say anything they want. Alrighty then . . . I will never step foot in your establishment. Good luck keeping your new business open with that attitude. read more

It's been so wonderful to have this restaurant re-open after the previous owner destroyed the 35 years of community established there. I love the new menu. Everything is homemade and fresh. The best lamb I've ever had. My favorite dish is the Lamb skewers with rice and a little very fresh salad. Everything on the menu is really good. Taboule is another favorite. The owner is a gracious welcoming host who cares about community and the experience a customer has when dining. There is a waitress who I read has been described as rude, but she is from a country that is just very direct in communication. I know her to be exceptionally gracious and hospitable, as I usually dine outside of the dinner crunch hours. We have had time to chat a little, and I'm positive any inquiry about a tip was out of concern for customer satisfaction. She's a friend of the family helping out, it's not about tips for her. This is a brand new restaurant, trying out new staff, and they have to find their groove. People are so harsh in Bay Area culture. Give them a minute to find the right people and routines. They treat regular customers like family. It's a beautiful restaurant with a nice atmosphere. Probably my favorite. read more
