Nice waiter (maybe the owner) greeted us shortly after we sat down. We order a mere platter. The most tasty items on the plate were the dolmas and the falafel. The falafels were crispy and had the perfect combination of parsley and coriander. They were fried to perfection! We then ordered ground beef. I thought it was literally ground beef but it was some type of ground lamb that was smooshed into a patty. I did not enjoy and I had the runs after all night long. The food was very disappointing. We ordered the mezze platter and a veggie kabob. The veggie kabob consisted of about 8 undercooked pieces of veg (including a large pineapple slice, which seemed incongruous), bland rice, and salad with no dressing. The various parts of the mezze plate were flavorless and homogenous. It all tasted canned. I have lived in Lebanon, and I know how god this food can be, and there are many Bay Area restaurants that do it right. Service was slow, but this could be forgiven as we had gotten wine at the bar. The food is truly AMAZING. Came here for the first time for an early dinner during the COVID times. They have seating out front. Our server was so kind and soft spoken and had a wonderful sense of humor about him. Again, the food was phenomenal. I have lived all over the Middle East and Europe for many years. I had dinner at this restaurant the other night with my wife and friends. This was perhaps my worst experience with an American version of Mediterranean cuisine I have ever experienced. It was terrible, out of temp, and it tasted old, by the amount of customers in the restaurant it appears as though the feelings are mutual. I complained to a gentleman with a pony tail and he said that me, a Michelin chef has no taste for fine food and I should not return to his restaurant because it's above my head. The best part about it is he had no idea how stupid he looked to all of my party because he had no idea I was a Michelin chef. A word of advise be careful if you eat at this restaurant. I really wanted to like this place and support a small business, but I was extremely disappointed. The food was good, but our waitress was rude and you can tell she hates her job and only cares about tips. She has no charm and her lack of it makes it very awkward like you're inconveniencing her when you need something. We had to ask for our water to be refilled twice and she waited until we were nearly done to come back and check if we had everything. What really irritated me was at the end when we paid with cash (we had to ask for the check and no dessert was offered). After issuing us our change she comes back to claim her tip. Chez Mansour, you can do better! Customers deserve better especially when dining out during a pandemic! It was the first time my family and I decided to dine outdoors at this restaurant and we should have read all the poor service reviews first! I'm very disappointed and saddened about our experience at this restaurant. With so many choices such as Zaytoon or Troys on Solano Ave., I encourage others to spend your money and time elsewhere. It's a challenging time for restaurants everywhere and we try to support many local businesses, but how your staff responds to complaints is critical and speaks volumes about your customer service. It was difficult to find someone to seat us outside with several tables available... when we inquired with the bartender, he seemed confused and then we had to flag a waitress to ask further. They never checked on our table after food was brought out, my son's order was wrong, food was luke warm and wine never arrived. After trying many times to get the waitress's attention about the incorrect order and missing wine, she was honest that they were short-staffed and that they were getting ready for live music later that night and then removed the missing/incorrect items from our check. However, instead of trying to fix the errors, it seemed like she just wanted us to leave and was resigned to providing poor service for the evening. Live music later in the evening should not be an excuse for poor service now. This was our weekly family dinner out and we are just so disappointed in our experience here especially during a beautiful evening on Valentine's Day weekend. This is one family that loves Solano Ave., but we will not be back to Chez Mansour. read more

Quaint affordable Lebanese spot on Solano.5 stars for the mezza Plate with the pita chips. The hummus with pomegranates was my favorite and would definitely come back just for this plate. Rating this 4 stars because the entrees were just ok. The food came out Luke warm and didn't come with any sauces. This place is so special I don't even want to post a review on it. BUT 10/10 would recommend this restaurant to a friend. Pictured is only a portion of what we ordered - missing the eggplant cheese pine dish and the beet salad (both yummy). I moved to the area a few months ago and this was the best Mediterranean/vegetarian food I've had up here, it also had the coolest little French wine bar vibe... very low key, kind of romantic, I loved it! They have great lunch portions if you are looking for a filling but not too heavy lunch. The lamb here is amazing, it is a very cute atmosphere and the service was excellent. I came for lunch but I noticed they have live music for dinner on the weekends. I thought this place was an awesome find. My new favorite restaurant! I wish I lived closer! Tanya, the owner, is so lovely and welcoming, and so are the patrons! It's like "Cheers" where everyone knows each other. The food is excellent and also healthy. And the wine is amazing! They pick delicious choices, and some are even unusual. Great variety, too. And Tanya always gives a little extra something to show her appreciation-like a small treat when she brings the bill. We started with a Mezza plate (Humus, Tabouleh, Baba Gannaouge, Falafel, Grape Leaves) served with pita chips and bread. his was a meal in itself. We took home plenty leftovers. We each ordered full Kabab , 1 order of Scallops served with rice and salad and 1 order Shawarma beef and lamb this too served with rice and salad. I bumbled into it late on Christmas day when I was roaming Solano Ave. in search of a caffeine fix; Starbucks was closed, as was Peet's and every other place, but Chez Mansour (which is a restaurant, not a coffee shop) made a cappucino, with hints of cinnamon and cardamom, that put Starbucks to shame. The ambiance was warm and cozy; I got kebab to go, and while I was waiting at the bar for the food, the owner offered me a complimentary glass of champagne, which was divine. The beef and lamb shawarma was delicious. The marinade made it tender and tasty. Potatoes were properly cooked. Could not detect dressing on the accompanying salad.The beet salad was huge with red and golden beets and a great dressing with the arugula. The mezza platter was very good and plentiful. Food was OK, but whole experience was mediocre . Stopped for quick dinner and they didn't look too busy. Said they had a lot of reservations coming soon but maybe they could squeeze us in. No one else came for the next hour... Perhaps a lot of cancellations? Or maybe a marketing book said pretend to be busy to build buzz? Food came out piecemeal: a dish here, a dish there. Food food was tasty, but hard to make a meal when different dishes came at different times. Then waited nearly half an hour for but never saw the server to get a check. Other tables were also looking around waiting for the server. When I finally went inside and tracked her down (sitting at a table working) she said I had to understand that they were very very busy. I guess six tables is a busy night. Maybe don't go if you see more than four other diners. Probably OK as a takeout place. read more

In town for fun with my family & was really excited to try this place. Nope right off the bat the front lady was very rude! I tried to ask questions to best help me decide what to order to be created with "well haven't you seen our menu?" Oh ok Well short story I got falafel balls, hummus and pita bread. My pita bread was over fried, hummus was actually ok but nothing to eat with it due to my falafel balls being over baked & hard tasteless nuggets. Just wasted $10 to tell you it was not the place. Update: after the owner wants to respond and say I'm being mean and fishing for negative reviews?!? Really?!? I was so excited to try your place guy but admit it the front lady was bland and rude like your food!! I have a video of how hard the falafel balls are. My husband and a dear friend and I had a delightful lunch at Chez Mansour on Thursday. The atmosphere was lovely and relaxed. The owner was charming and most gracious. We selected a few Mezza plates to share and they were generous and absolutely delicious and made with very high quality ingredients. We also tried the lamb kabob which was grilled to perfection. It was tender, succulent and flavorful. We can't wait to return and bring friends. We love to frequent a restaurant where the proprietor puts his love and creativity into the experience. We lunched at Chez Mansour for the first time yesterday. Chicken-apple sausage kebabs for Hubby, grilled shrimp kebabs for me with roast potatoes. Everything was cooked and seasoned to perfection but the high point of lunch was definitely Foul (a mix of fava and garbanzo beans). The waiter said Chez Mansour prepares it from scratch, and the result is an astonishing dish that blurs the line between comfort and gourmet food. Glad they are open for carry out during COVID. Beet salad with arugula was tasty but the dressing was not flavorful. Chicken kebab was nicely spiced and I was surprised that I liked the roasted potatoes which was one of two optional sides. Lamb kebab was dry, not well seasoned and overcooked. Loved the eggplant with blue cheese and pine nut appetizer. Loved the dolmas. Liked that there were so many veggie appetizer options. Friendly service. Will try them again. read more

I will start with the one positive--that they seem to use fresh ingredients of decent quality. But beyond that the service was generally not friendly and bordered on snobby a few times. I asked if there were any beer on tap and was told in condescending fashion, "NO, this is a WINE bar." Was also told when I asked about whether they took Visa that yes, but there would be an administrative fee (the restaurant's not the card company's) and that they were unable to tell me the amount of it. They seem to offer two serving sizes on the menu, but when I ordered the small version of one of the optional plates was told brusquely that it was now dinner time (it was about 3:30) so I must order the large version. The food itself was cooked fairly professionally, but there was simply no seasoning to speak of. Salad had just olive oil on it, no vinegar or other seasons, seemingly. No one at my table made it halfway through their plate. No one came to ask how anything was during our meal and were only friendly at the very end trying to tout some of the live music they have there occasionally. Even the handling of the check was bad and awkward, making you choose the tip on a screen at your table in front of the not very friendly waitress. This piece of heaven may be East Bay's most underrated treasure. Food, service, ambiance, location, and wine menu are the loveliest and most charming this side of the Bay.
