We stayed in the area, so we walked over to this restaurant for dinner. The staff welcomed us at the door. Our waitress was very courteous and attentive. We ordered the tofu fresh spring rolls and swimming Rama tofu. Both were so good!! The only thing I would say negatively is the rice wrapper was a little chewy on the spring rolls. We often bring our friends and family to experience such wonderful food and service... but today's experience at the location in the Cumberland shopping center was HORRIBLE! I have NEVER been treated so terrible and so disrespectful at a restaurant as I was this evening by waitress Bailey. She treated my family and I like we were a burden to her, not like we were customers. She rarely came to our table to attend to us, but she took it upon herself to charge gratuity from our ticket. Tonight, I was yelled at by a waitress in front of the entire restaurant for asking a question. I'm honestly in shock. I've never had such an experience in a Tyler restaurant. I've called the manager and owner, JJ, and left a voicemail about my experience because there was not a manager on duty... at least that's what I was told. I'm so disappointed. PS. Usually we Really love this little restaurant but had a bad experience today. The cook could not seem to get anything right. We ordered regular items that we get there and some were so over spiced that they were difficult to even eat. Some were no spice and some were just cooked wrong. Two of our meals had meat that was cooked and all of the vegetables were almost raw, as if they were thrown in as an afterthought. Raw eggplant with hot spicy sauce is ugh. Specifically my son ordered a beef fried rice mild and his brother ordered the same but at a 3 heat. The mild came out hotter than the 3, which was really hot. The waitress knew that they were having issues with things being incorrect and specifically too spicy because she mentioned it several times BEFORE we even got our entrees. She took it back to get him a new one and a few minutes later a different guy comes out with the same plate and basically tells my 15 year old son to "suck it up" and eat it anyway! He (the employee) just kept loud talking and my son was so embarrassed that he just said forget it and tried to eat it. He just wanted this rude guy to stop embarrassing him. He ended up boxing it up for his brother and going hungry because it was to flaming spicy hot that it was even making my husbands eyes water. My son requested it not spicy for a reason and they did not care and then bullied him into accepting their mistake. What happened? We have been eating here for a while and really enjoying it???? Recently ate at this location. This might've been the worst Thai food I've ever eaten. I ordered the pad Thai, and I almost swear it had ketchup in it. It was very orange. Also ordered the pad see ew. It was edible but just lacked a depth of flavor you expect in good Thai food. Tasted like they just threw some soy sauce on some noodles. This place is to Thai food what McDonalds is to real hamburgers, just a facade with the smallest of resemblances. I'm sorry but it is just some Place with a few Thai people working there shoveling out what they think Americans want, since they assume they don't really have the capability of appreciating genuine Thai food. Beyond that let's get to what we ordered. I had Panang Curry with beef. The curry was more a soup than a curry. The beef itself was tough and chewy, reminding me of water buffalo or something but not good East Texas beef. My wife had the Royal Prawn Pad Thai. It as just way, way too greasy. In fact they used so much oil it was wet with it. Ugh. I wish we could recommend it but you'd be better off either flying to Los Angeles or Thailand itself if this is the best East Texas has to offer. Avoid the place at all costs. read more

I'm either a regular here, repeat patron, or would be if it wasn't cost or distance prohibitive 4 stars - Highly recommended, but may have minor things that keep me from being a regular or from giving a higher rating 3 stars - Good most of the time but not great. Will only eat here if I have a particular craving, or am unable to eat at my 4 or 5 star choices 2 stars - Do not really like it but will only eat here if I have to (eating group overruled my veto) 1 star - Avoid. Save your money, time, and stomach My reviews are based on food alone and does not factor in cost, customer service, atmosphere, etc. Finally, another real Asian restaurant in Tyler! By real, I mean owned and/or operated by the same type of Asian as the type cuisine. Real Thai food made by real Thai people. Overall, the food is great and for the most part is legit (let's be real, there are very few ethnic restaurants in America that serve what people actually eat at home). Have I had better Thai? Absolutely. But this place is pretty good and is now my goto if I want Asian for dinner. My goto if I want Asian for lunch is still Bobaloompia. Before I get any further, I need to make a comment about a previous Yelper's comment about the "fishy taste" of the food. Fish sauce, which is made from fermented fish (like soy sauce is made from fermented soy beans) is a staple seasoning used in Southeast Asian cuisine such as Vietnamese, Thai, etc. You either like it or you don't, but it is purposely seasoned that way and shouldn't be counted against a restaurant for using a traditional ingredient. So far, I have had the fried egg rolls, Laab salad, Som Tum salad, Yum Nuah salad, Tom Yum soup, Tom Kha soup, sweet & sour tilapia, pineapple fried rice, Massaman curry, Panang curry, duck curry, and Pad Thai. I've had better egg rolls (very partial to the ones we used to make at my family's restaurant), Yum Nuah, and Pad Thai. They aren't bad here, but I've had better. Overall, from talking with other friends who have eaten the Pad Thai and other noodle dishes here, the consensus is that noodles are not their strongest dishes, although most people think of Pad Thai or Pad See Eew when you mention Thai food. Tom Kha - A lot of people tend to recognize Tom Yum soup but not so much Tom Kha. The Tom Kha here is really good, with the coconut, lime, fish sauce, and cilantro together bringing a lot of flavor for a relatively simplistic soup. Great as an appetizer if you get the cup. Som Tum - I've never had a papaya (green, not orange, it's more radish-like in texture unlike the orange papaya) salad before but this salad is really good. It is a little spicy, so be aware of that if you don't like spicy. This, along with their other salads, are in my opinion best shared. I feel that they work really well as an appetizer, because the lime juice and fish sauce are really good at whetting the appetite to get you ready for the main course. Curries - Their curries are their strongest dishes if you're wanting more of the Asian flavor. Non-Asians tend to gravitate towards sweet & sour type of dishes, stir fried noodles, or fried rice for some reason. But if you want to try Thai food, then try the curries. What I like about the curries here, are that they are so fresh tasting, have great flavor, and are not overly sweet. The problem with many Asian or fusion restaurants in the South, is they make their curries too sweet to cater to the American crowd. Here, they have the right amount of sweetness that enhances rather than overpowers the dish. If you like duck I highly recommend the duck curry. It is really good and I was so happy to see duck on the menu here! My only gripe about the duck curry is that I wish it had more duck! But I do know that roasted duck (which is what's used in the curry) is a pretty expensive item in and of itself. If you're open to eating something besides Pad Thai and fried rice, then I recommend trying the Tom Kha, Som Tum, and any of the curry dishes (duck is my goto, but even though I've only tried three of their curries, I'm sure the others like green, yellow, and red are tasty too). read more

Since I'm not too accustomed to thai food, Michael gave special care to walking me through the menu. Being able to select the heat levels for most plates was great for the two of us. I have made my last visit here after 3 years of ordering. I have watched the service deteriorate over the past year and tonight was it. Not to be blamed on Covid! Placed a pick up order and when we went to get it I stood there to be ignored by 4 staff members, 1 who was too busy rolling silverware to bother. No masks worn by staff and the mask mandate is still in effect. Phone was ringing and no one could manage to get up to answer it. After standing there for 5 minutes being ignored I noticed my order was sitting on the counter so I looked it over, grabbed it and left. Not that anyone cared or could be bothered to say thanks. Food was small portions and I know what it should be as I have been a loyal customer. This place is truly delicious. Their staff is fairly new and still learning things and they're very apologetic and polite. The food is authentic. The flavor is amazing and comes wave after wave. I had their yellow curry with medium spice and it was so great! The spice was perfect, wasn't too hot but gave a nice kick. They have an abundant selection to choose from so it was hard to choose from. But I watched as other peoples food came out and they looked just as amazing. I asked around some of the tables about their dishes and what they thought and they had all loved them saying how amazing the food tasted. It's about time Tyler got something this great. Are here twice, both times it felt slightly dirty but not terrible and the food was good. Unfortunately I just walked out of this place because it was SO DIRTY hardly anyone was in there and the floor was covered in food and there were flies flying around. Being there was no one there and they were not busy AT ALL someone could have been cleaning that mess up. I went in at 5:30 and it looked like the noon rush just left the place. If they don't care that it looks like that in the public areas I can't imagine what the kitchen looks like. Makes me sad because I love Thai food :-( read more

We were not greeted for almost ten min... it was really busy so it can be a given. I then ordered an appetizer and I never got it until mid way through the meal. My friend got his food first and it was cold. And then they brought our food out, but they never brought my sides until the end. Lesson learned don't go while it's busy. My friend ordered the Thai chicken and it was such a small protion. I got the curry yellow powder cat fish.. it was really good but grease. They did compt my side, and the glass of wine...
