Decided to go to Little Italy last night for dinner with my sister. We went to Chiapparelli's because I have always been a fan of their food. We walked in with no reservations and were seated within five minutes. I have to say, we really enjoyed our food. I had veal parm and the meat was very tender. The food came out warm and so did our bread. Our server was very attentive. Towards the end of our dinner, we had a not-so-pleasant experience. One of the servers was behind the bar and she proceeded to yell over the bar at another server. It was inappropriate for a public restaurant especially when she shouted the "F" word over the bar as well. Very unprofessional. We have been to Chiapparelli's on numerous occasions and never experienced something like this. Aside from this experience, we really enjoyed our food. read more

My family took me here for Mothers' Day. I was a little skeptical after reading some of the reviews, but we had no problems what so ever! The food was tasty, the service was alright but the salad everyone is raving over was a little too garlicky for my tastes. We prefer the olive gardens' salad if we go Italian. Absolutely the WORST Italian food I have every eaten! I ordered the pasta with chicken in a basil pesto light cream sauce. It was so bad, I sent it back and got the chicken cacciatore. Their idea of chicken cacciatore is spaghetti with tomato sauce, chicken and vegetables - THAT'S CALLED PASTA PRIMAVERA GUYS! It was so bad I sent it back and decided to just call it a night. A complete and utter disappointment. Place was packed, but unsure why. Bathroom stalls were so small, I had to step out to pull up my pants. And they have the nerve to charge 23.00+ an entree! The best thing about Chiapparelli's is their salad. They are really well known for their salad and I can definitely vouch for this. Their entrees come with salad, so you usually get it with your main meal. Their food is your average Italian, with huge portions and salty sauces. We really enjoyed our experience. The salad, as noted, is excellent. The bruschetta was the star, however...each one of the three offerings was wonderful. My fried ravioli wasn't anything special, however. My wife's shrimp fra diabolo was very tasty--I was much more interested in her's than my sausage spaghetti...the sausage was too sweet for my taste. Finally, the server was good, but he disappeared at the end and we changed our mind on dessert after sitting for too long. Went here for an early Sunday lunch. Place was fairly empty when we arrived but nearly full when we left. Ordered the house chianti for $7 which was reasonable. A nice full pour too. Had the crab balls and shrimp Nicola flowed by the Vitello Leo. All great and well prepared. No complaints at all ! read more

We had a lovely meal at Chiappelli's and were delighted to have Helen for our waitress. There were 3 parties going on the other night, but she still took good care of us. It was nice to be in a restaurant where we did not feel rushed to finish and leave. As always, the food was excellent, love the salad that comes with each meal . I'm from out of town and wanted to find a restaurant in Little Italy. This place stuck out and we decided to give it a try. We tried to call twice before getting someone on the phone to make a reservation. But realized once we got there that we didn't need one (it was a Thursday night). The service was fast, our waitress was great, they filled our wine glasses to the brim, gave us tons of bread and the salads were huge! I ordered penne con vodka which was delicious. Only striking it a star because my mom wasn't a fan of their marinara sauce or meatballs. It was way too thick and tasted burnt. read more

In my opinion, though, they do need kosher accommodations for those who observe Passover, which usually falls--like it fell this year--at the same time as Easter falls. Being a Jew who observes Passover and Easter, I would have gone to Chiapparelli's with my family (as I have for every Easter for quite a while now) had they had kosher-for-Passover accommodations (e.g., matzah for those who can't have bread, kosher-for-Passover wine--nothing too overboard--just, as the Jewish Scriptures say, no leavened wheat, barley, oats, spelt, or rye. read more

I would visit just for carry out salad! In fact I did exactly that last weekend. The chip's salad is probably the best in Baltimore. I also picked up some orders of the delicious lasagna with the meat and meatless sauces which are both outstanding. Fresh! and perfectly seasoned. Reasonably priced and enough for a late dinner for the three of us. Probably just go with the regular meatless in the future as a matter of personal preference or maybe not depending on the pasta. We had a 5 star experience here to cap off a wedding weekend in Baltimore. 23 people sat at one table on an upper floor. We had wine, bread, sausage/peppers, shrimp, and calamari as appetizers. All were excellent. Several of us ordered Grandma's Ravioli with fresh ricotta and spinach. They were hot and creamy and the sauce was made from fresh tomatoes and herbs. Others had the Shrimp Pesto made from fresh basil, pine nuts, and cream. Two people ordered dessert, saying the cannolis were the best they'd had short of Italy. The service was attentive and prompt. I changed my rating from one star to two stars because it seems the one stars are getting filtered out. Believe me, this place deserves ZERO STARS. My husband got food poisoning from this place and was sick for 3 days afterwards. My only advice: come hungry! My boyfriend and I ate here the other night. We ordered fried calamari to start, which came out with warm bread (lots of bread). We then put our meals in, and just as we were finishing the appetizer, huge salads came out for us. Every meal comes with a salad, but these were a meal themselves. I barely ate mine to save room for my dinner, which was also a huge portion. I had the Chicken Vincenzo and it did not disappoint. I took plenty home for leftovers and the server was a sweetheart. Maybe I'm nostalgic for a cozier time in history or life but we Loved this restaurant! They reserved a large table I. The front room for my 3 generations which was spacious and perfect even for my father in law with his cane. Best warm bread and good Chianti. The house salad was out of this world! Loved everything from fettuccine Alfredo to the catch if the day. No complaints from any if our picky eaters. We had a wonderful group experience at Chiapparelli's. While at a conference in Baltimore, we needed a space that could accommodate a group of 50 for dinner. Ashley at Chiapparelli's was so easy to work with! The food was delicious, with a great variety of options for everyone in the group. The price was more than reasonable and the service was stellar. We had a private space that was warm and inviting and we felt so welcome. We had a leisurely, pleasant time and everyone left happy. We went to Chiapparelli's for an anniversary. We went early and were one of only a few couples in the establishment. Holding a nice Goupon in our hands we showed it to the waitress as they instructed us to on the coupon. It had recently been purchased and I noticed a table of women behind us that also had them. I don;t know why they instruct you to make a reservation which we did. There was no need. You need to tell them you have a Groupon when you do this. Hmmm. are they going to sit in a corner somewhere and forget about you? Close but not quite. We did have a corner table and it was very quiet. The bread came and as others have said is not anything to rave about. Wish I would have ordered the garlic bread for $4. I really like my bread fresh and hot or at least warm from the oven. It is an important part of the meal as it will later be soaking up the sauce. The waitress never checked to see if we needed more bread. She did refill our water glasses. She really paid no attention to us except when necessary. My friend had the veal parmesean with spaghetti which did not have enough sauce. He never could get her attention to ask for it. I gave him some of mine which had too much. Worked for both of us as I enjoyed my meal much better without all that sauce drowning my ravioli. The salad was huge and it was good. Lots of lettuce and a few tomatoes and onions. The dressing was good but I felt it was drowning in it. Just a little too much for me. I don;t like a lot of salt and there was too much salt in it. There were some other strong spices in there and I can still taste them. I selected the ravioli with cheese and spinach as previously stated. It was Grandma's ravioli. My grandma was not Italian but she made the best fried chicken. Miss you Gran! Anyway, the ravioli itself was very large and well cooked. The cheese and spinach had a wonderful taste. Unfortunately I discovered this on my last few pieces I was able to eat. There was too much sauce on the dish and it was runny. It disguised the real taste of the meal. I removed most of the sauce which I thought was just ok,,,,,and really enjoyed the last two pieces. Did not sample dessert as I was full and had to bring some of the ravioli home with me. All in all it was an ok experience. There are so many restaurants in Little Italy and I am not sure this one stands out for any reason. So the next time we go into the area we will try another one. The house salad was the best part of the meal. Iceberg lettuce with thinly sliced red onions, a couple peppercini, grape tomatoes,lots of cheese and tossed in a wonderful dressing. The bread that is brought to the table is cold. That was my first turn off. In addition, there were lemon seeds in my veal marsala dish. The sauce was fresh tasting,thin and not as rich as expected. We have been here multiple times and always plan our visits around Helen's schedule, our waitress. Helen is so nice and has the greatest stories, she alone is a reason to come back! The salad and homemade bread are both incredible. I always get the chicken parm and Becky has had just about everything on the menu. The pastas are also homemade and everything has been consistently delicious. We are originally from RI, the capital of good Italian food and our 20 mile drive from Gambrills is well worth the trip to Chiaparellis!! read more

Great food and an amazing wait staff. However, the old lady hostess was an absolutely horrible representative of the business. I walked in at 4:50pm, and I was met with a face of disgust after asking for a table for 2. "We have reservations... you're going to have to sit at the bar" she said in the most condescending way possible. Thankfully, another woman said that the reservations weren't until 7pm; over 2 hours later. So, finally, we were seated, despite being treated like we were homeless and begging for a meal. Of course though, after seating us, the vile woman said, "well we have reservations... but I guess here's your table." This woman treated us like trash, and I would have taken my business elsewhere if I hadn't already been seated. This woman's behavior is antithetical to Italian culture, as Italians view food as a community event, and anyone who shows up gets fed. Please re-evaluate your staff because our food and waitress were amazing, but I almost didn't get to experience it because of the disrespect up front. read more

He was taking care of everybody in the restaurant from the warm welcome greeting to making sure everything came to the table quickly and perfectly I have never seen anybody so welcoming and so competent. Went for dinner with my family and our server was very charming but my gnocchi came out cold. When I asked it to be a little hotter, she returned with it blazing hot...which would have been fine but it was obvious they did not gently toss it back in the pan but instead threw it in the microwave and nuked it on high for who knows how long... When it came back to me, my little potato dumplings were now hard balls of dough that blistered my entire mouth. I heard this place was famous for their outstanding authentic food...
