Bang bang shrimp
Arie L.

One of the best patios I've sat at in Indy. Catch this spot on a good weather day and you will not be disappointed. Great bang bang shrimp, could have eaten the entire order myself service was great. Had the real Kona Big Wave glasses to match the cans. We'll be back

A couple of delicious rolls!

All I can say is "Yum"! Not a bad dish on the menu! Even the miso soup was delicious. My only complaint is the temperature by the windows in the restaurant. Winter is just bad in older homes which is understandable, but it impedes the experience. We froze! Service was great--nothing more, nothing less.

From a table in the back garden. So relaxing.

I'm adding yet another review since it has been so long. We were taking our car to Roush Mazda for service and decided a lunch at Chiba would be a great idea. I have had a rainbow roll other places so that's my choice today. RRR ordered shrimp avocado roll and a yellowtail scallion roll. All the sushi was wonderful. I took a few pieces of tuna off the top and ate it separately, SO melt in your mouth tender! Always 5 stars.

Great place for lunch and dinner! Outside seating as well as indoor. Yummy flavors and a huge variety of eats! Thank you for being in Westfield!

Gyoza - special request: deep fried! Tasted great!

Once we walked up the path, we entered magical patio gardens and felt like we were in another state! The server was so patient with our special request to deep fry the gyoza and it was decadent. Perfectly mixed Sex on the Beach cocktails with our coconut shrimp appetizer which came with crunchy rice noodles. Enjoyed an Andretti sushi roll for its fresh shrimp and crab, asparagus and just a touch of jalepeno. So good!

My partner and I went to Westfield over the weekend and found this place. It was super cute .. definitely cozy and casual vibes all over the place. We got seated in the outdoor eating area and I can see why it would be a cool place to go to for dining out. The service was very friendly - no complaints! We ordered salad, sushi and a chicken dish. I thought their sushi was good - comes a close second to sushi I've had at Blue Sushi located at Ironworks hotel in Keystone area. This was a nice find! Check them out for some e yummy food.

Chiba is good, the atmosphere and ambiance is what makes it special, that alone is worth the drive and difficulty parking. The food is good, but not my favorite Indiana sushi. But it is fresh!

Love Chiba with my whole heart. Of all the sushi places around, they are the most generous on the fish! We sat outside and listened to the live music. The service was friendly and helpful but not overbearing. We will continue to visit!

Soup special, sorry! Don't remember the name but Keith has taken years perfecting it and it's wonderful.

Ask the Community - Chiba

Where are the high top tables located? We are trying to make a reservation for outside but the only options are dining room or high top tables.

There are several buildings on the lot. The high tops are in the intimate bar setting in the back. If the weather is nice and you have a reservation, they should be able to seat you outside! You can always call ahead and ask about your spot.

Why it's connected to Kona?

I don't think it is unless that is something new. They said their first restaurant and still current is in New Orleans.

I happened to visit on a warmer day so I was able to see the space with the garage door open. It was golden hour and it had everything all lit up. Very beautiful. Our service was amazing, couldn't have asked for a better server. I can't remember her name but she was so detailed in her descriptions, thoughtful with her suggestions, and had the perfect amount of attentiveness. Now on to the fun parts.... Drinks were a hit! We told our server what we like and they recommended a couple options. I again can't remember the exact name of the drink but mine was a gin cocktail. I'll attach some photos for you. As for the food, every bite I took was delicious. Our table shared the fried brussel sprouts and the ginger miso salad. A very lovely way to ease into our meal on a lighter note. They split up the salad onto two plates for us, which was sweet of them. The portion was pretty good for a $12 salad. Very refreshing. Brussel sprouts were absolutely fire. Get them! Along with that, I also ordered the tempura shrimp maki roll. Inside the roll was cucumber and avocado with giant tempura shrimp right on top, drizzled in spicy mayo. The presentation was cool, a slightly deconstructed version of what I would get somewhere else. There wasn't a single bite left on the plate. I would order all three of these dishes again in a heartbeat. Perfect for a date night or special occasion, but also works for just grabbing a bite with friends. Whenever I find myself back in Indy, Modita will be on my list.

This is my wife and I's favorite restaurant in all of Indy. We were lucky to visit last night, and…read morestill great as always. We had a reservation at 6:45, and were sat shortly after that time. The place was busy for a Friday night, and was somewhat loud. Our waitress greeted us quickly, and was on top of things throughout the night. I started off with a ginger miso salad, based on recommendations on this page. Personally, I could have went without the $12 salad. I would have paid more like $6 for the amount of actual salad I got. The dressing was good, but nothing extraordinary. I did ask for no cucumbers- I could taste a faint taste of cucumbers on the salad, so think they just took them off after they were already placed. We split some Bao Buns. These were the highlight of the show. The pork on them was thick, the slaw was fresh, and the bao bun itself was fluffy. We split two dishes for dinner- the short rib and the chicken udon noodles. The chicken udon noodles were fantastic- packed full of flavor and tons of toppings in it. The short rib fell a little short of my expectations, but I had high expectations to begin with. We have had the short rib multiple times in the past- and normally it is a hunk of meat, similar to a roast. Now, it is strips of tiny pieces of meat with a bone attached to it. If the owner/general manager is reading this- GO BACK TO THE ROAST STYLE- the strips of meat was too much work to eat. Still packed full of great flavor though. I had the bridge to Anshun for my drink. I had never had Baiju before, but glad I tried it. It was a tangy drink that was also sweet- would say it's a must try. Overall, some changes since our last visit that weren't expected, but overall had a great evening here. Can't wait to return.

The staff, drinks, food, music and overall atmosphere are consistently exceptional. The cocktail menu is fantastic. My personal favorite is the painkiller - a delicious blend of coconut, rum, orange, pineapple, and nutmeg. It's served in a skull glass and tastes absolutely perfect. I also appreciate that they make their noodles in house! Have you ever had a meal you can't stop thinking about? That's exactly how I feel about the shoyu ramen. It features their noodles, truffle zest, pork belly, egg, veggies and chicken in a deeply flavorful broth. Order a side of rice and dip it into the broth and thank me later! Patio seating available.

The crispiest most flavorful tofu outside and nice and soft inside. Couldn't tell it wasn't chicken! We also had oysters. For dinner I had the Katsu Curry and it was on point! And the leftovers were just as delicious. My sister had the Tantanmen and it was sooo good!! I could drink that broth. They do give you options for rice instead of noodles and broth if you like options. We also shared the Glazed tofu and yall it will change your LIFE!!! When we arrived for our midafternoon reservation, we appeared to be the only customers in the restaurant. Others arrived after we were seated and were seated at the regular tables. A group of three were seated at a hibachi table. There seemed to be confusion about which hibachi table we were supposed to be seated, and the hostess asked if our entire group was going to be there. We assured her that everyone was there and in fact walking in the door at that moment. We were seated around two hibachi grills that were side-by-side, so all 16 of us were sitting together in a big square around the two grills. We sat with 8 men on one side and 8 women on the other. A few of us order vegetable hibachi, others ordered chicken hibachi, and a few ordered steak. The server seemed put out with us as soon as he started taking orders. He explained that it would be easier if we rearranged our seating and said that his order pad was like a map, and he even showed us that there were 16 squares around the tables and he would have to write on each square if we had different orders. We didn't want to change our seating arrangement, and he seemed visibly annoyed with us. Service was fairly slow, and when the server started bringing our soup we didn't have silverware or napkins. We had to ask for silverware and he seemed surprised that we were asking. The hibachi chefs were great! Definitely the best part of our experience. They were cheerful and engaged well with everyone. They put on an entertaining show. As for the food, I would say that it was just ok. The fried rice lacked flavor and was fairly greasy. The noodles too, had absorbed quite a bit of oil. The vegetables were good but servings were a little skimpy, especially considering that the rice was just plain rice without any added onions, garlic, peas, carrots, or other things that are usually added to fried rice. More vegetables on the grill would have been appreciated. The chef had grilled a large mound of rice and large mound of noodles but much smaller amount of vegetables. The chicken and steak were good. A few in our group also ordered sushi and they enjoyed it. The restaurant was very attractive, with nice decor.
