    Lomo Saltado Combination (~$13)
    Aya E.

Ordered: Lomo Saltado Combination (~$13): served with white rice & beans Combination #2 - 4pc Chicken with Fries (~$12) Aya's take: Chic King is a no frills Peruvian spot in Union City worth trying! We got the 4pc Chicken with Fries which was super tender and well-seasoned. The skin on the outside was golden brown and just loaded with flavor. The Fries look pretty basic but were actually super addicting. The star of this dish was actually their homemade hot sauce. I could put that on literally anything. It was super aromatic and fresh with a slight kick; it added so much flavor to the chicken. The Lomo Saltado is one of my favorite Peruvian dishes and this one was good but not the best I've had. The price is unbeatable for the portion you get. The steak was mostly tender but some bits were chewy. The fires were soggy despite us eating it right away. I also didn't like that the beans were just put on top of everything. It would've been better if they were all to one side of the plate, but I would actually suggest not getting the beans if you get this. There's already enough flavor and ingredients here that it really doesn't add anything. Definitely recommend giving it a try!

Following up on my review, I've tried their Lomo Saltado twice for lunch already and it's great! Awesome portion, soft sautéed beef pieces perfect bite sized, their sauce is delicious as well! Definitely give this place a try even though I would not sit down here because it feels like a fast food joint, their takeout menu is perfect for a work day lunch! The servers are not the friendliest either, that why I'll stick to take out!

Stopped by for a nice pollo a la brasa, I was not disappointed. Before I stopped a Chic King I grabbed from my another place and made a nice little combination. El pollo a la brasa estaba exquisito crujiente muy bien lugarcito!

Update: they now accept credit cards! This is a huge relief to those of us who do not carry cash. Again, get combo 7.

This review is on the food not the decor, like some do on yelp . This is more of a mom and pop restaurant . I wouldn't take a date for a first or 2nd date however , The food is excellent ! Chicken ( Peruvian style ) was moist and juicy with full of flavor The tostones (fried green bananas) were perfectly made . If you want rotisserie chicken at its finest then come here - The price is unbeatable for the quality of food you will receive . The decor; basic nothing special , clean establishment Friendly staff Definitely will try other items on the menu

So it looks like they have increased their prices by about 25-30%. 6 pcs chicken w/tax comes to about $12. (used to be $8+). Do remember this is a cash only place Might not go as often as before but the rotisserie chicken is still tasty.

Good cheap food. The combination of Peruvian and Chinese is great. I have been going here for 20+ years. Consistently good.

Since my last visit, I had only ventured there once for a drink, but it had been far from a first choice. I loved that they had live music and a casual vibe, but my past culinary experience had been a letdown. However, I was very pleasantly surprised on my recent excursion. We grabbed seats at the rustic bar and enjoyed friendly service and pints of Kane Head High, my favorite beer. The crisp, refreshing brew went well with my cup of Chicken Noodle Soup. While that might sound like an odd "snack", I selected it because it was one of the few appetizers on the menu that was not fried. The broth seemed to interestingly be made of tomatoes and potentially other vegetables. It was packed with large, spiral noodles, shredded chicken, and fresh spinach. It was an interesting rendition for sure, but it was also very tasty, despite the fact that it was rather greasy. I was also bummed that it did not have more chicken and that it had not been served with any crackers. Oh well! Overall, it at least had left me with a much better impression than my last trip had.

My boyfriend said 3 stars with the wings. Take the wings out of our order and it's 4 stars. Wouldn't get them again! Don't recommend the wings here. Buffalo wings are small. They were a little undercooked for our liking. They're a 3/10. Better and cheaper wings at BlackBear and Grubbs. Don't get the wings here!! Waste of money. $15 for a few tiny wings? No thanks. The salmon was a nice portion for $24. The side of kale was good. Cooked perfectly. The cilantro lime rice was okay. Had a bite of it. I don't care for rice. Would get the salmon again! 9/10 .. flavor was good. More of a Cajun salmon than chili. Blackened on ends. Definitely recommend the salmon! The rum raisin bread pudding was 8/10. Love the raisins and cinnamon flavor. Didn't taste rum lol. And they forgot the vanilla icecream and caramel. Prob would be a 10 with those little extras. But we wouldn't know. Probably best to dine there. We warmed this bread up and it was still good. Would recommend. It's $10. Worth it!

I'm sure that to some extent, voters are to blame for this move. Yelp ethics side note: I'm an enthusiastic or even militant supporter of bones in chicken but it seems unfair to go 1-star because of the menu change. There's nothing I want at Lululemon but I don't rate it 1-star. The biscuits are enjoyable. I got fried chicken and buffalo chicken versions. The kale-and-quinoa salad was good by salad standards but not as much as fun as the enticing collard greens/black-eyed peas/tomato side that was once available. Might try some dipping sauces next time. It would be great if some of the old classics return but I still appreciate the friendly workers and the creation of a low-stress neighborhood joint with board games and outdoor tables.

I parked a block away (yay for free street parking) and was already salivating by the delicious smell of their fried chicken. They were super busy and told us it would take 20-30 minutes but it ended up only taking 15 mins! People rave about their Chicken Caesar Wrap and honestly yes, it's good. It could use more caesar dressing and less croutons but other than that, really solid and the fried chicken in it goes so well with the caesar salad. To be honest, I was most super excited about the Three Piece Chicken w Biscuit! I heard there was an outrage when the NYC locations took it off the menu so I knew I had to give them a try. The batter - seasoned, light, and satisfying. The chicken - juicy, flavorful, and moist. Each bite was even more elevated with their sauces which I absolutely recommend! The Truffle Aioli was my personal favorite; it was creamy, velvety, and earthy. The Bobwhite Sauce was not what I expected whatsoever; it's fruity and sweet with a slight kick. Although I didn't like it on the chicken, it went crazy on the buttermilk biscuit which is the most pillowy, fluffy, and light biscuit I've had with fried chicken. Their Hand Cut Fries are twice fried in 100% beef tallow making them insanely addictive. Compared to other fast casual spots I've tried (i.e., Charles Pan-Fried Chicken), Bobwhite definitely hit the spot more. Highly recommend!

It's an interesting spot, split seating into two locations but single kitchen. Both seating spots are pretty small/intimate, so expect to get to know your neighbors! We did the pre fixe, so started with the sweet potatoes and hush puppies. The honey butter that comes with the hush puppies was the highlight, so delish but rich. Next the pastas: star of the night! We got the Miso Carbonara Tagliatelle and the Lamb Ragu Orecchiette. Miso carbonara was rich and scrumptious, umami bomb. I'm normally a cream sauce girlie over red, but the lamb ragu stole the show. Super tender chunks of lamb and the pasta was perfectly al dente. Incredible pastas! The mains were okay, pork chop was a bit too salty and the fried catfish was really underwhelming. Service is good, very friendly and efficient. Decor inside is cute too. I think I misordered, if i came back would def stick to the pastas and maybe try the fried chicken. They apparently have a pasta happy hour with half-off pastas, would come back for that.

Our server (I think Brian?) was super attentive and charismatic, and walked us through the menu right away. The server had the whole floor and the place is VERY tiny, but I never felt like the service was fake. Wine and beer only (to alert my cocktail lovers), but luckily for us we were in the middle of dry January so although I very much appreciate a cocktail it wasn't too much of a problem. What really shines is the food - just WOW! We were a table of three so we each did the Three-Course meal and shared: Biscuits to start: AMAZING! First Course: Burrata, Pimento Cheese, and Collard Greens Second Course: Ravioli, Gnocchi, and Tagliatelle. Special shoutout to the Reuben-flavored ravioli and Chicken & Dumpling flavored Gnocchi Third Course: Nashville Fried Chicken, and Catfish Everything tasted so so so good and original - I've quite literally never had anything like any of the pastas we tried. The one tiny critique I have is that I don't think a slice of white bread under the fried chicken was necessary. I know it's tradition but I didn't need it with all of the other amazing amazing food we had. All of the desserts sounded absolutely amazing but unfortunately we were all so full and had a show to run to, but I will 100% be back hopefully multiple times and will know for the next time to save some room. Overall 10/10. Definitely recommend getting a reservation as the entire space is maybe 15 seats total!
