There was a subtle tang from the sourdough that balanced the sweetness really well, so it never felt overly sugary. It had a light crispness on the outside, then a warm, pillowy center that practically melted away with each bite. I finished it way faster than I expected. The only thing I forgot was ordering something to drink with it. Looking back, a good coffee would've made it even better. Still, I'd definitely stop by again the next time I'm in the area.

I had wanted to order a flight, but every seat was taken, so I had resigned myself to ordering a single coffee. Luckily, a couple people left, so I was able to secure us a table. I would have been very disappointed if I hadn't been able to order the flight I came there to get! They have amazing flavors, I LOVE that they do flights, and their food has been decent. I only wish it was a little more spacious and quieter.

Everything was fresh, soft, and delicious, and the total came to just under $8, really a great value. Our friend also purchased 2 Fried Sticky Rice Dumplings with Chicken. I had never really paid attention to their limited dim sum selection before, so that was a nice discovery. We love Saint Anna and will definitely be back whenever we're in the area.

Really good BBQ in Chicago! Overall, the food was good and the service decent. It is not the best BBQ around, but definitely near the top of the list in the city. I would absolutely recommend. I ate here for lunch. They start you off with homemade BBQ chips and (butter?) pickles. Both were good and I couldn't stop eating the chips. I had the hush puppies appetizer, which were really good albeit slightly greasy (a result of not frying at the right temperature perhaps?). I followed that up with the pulled pork shoulder and cornbread side. The table shares four different sauces/condiments (a couple of BBQ sauces, a vinaigrette and honey mustard). Although the the pulled pork was a little dried, and actually needed the accompaniment of the sauces, it had a good smokey flavor and seasoned right (not too salty). The cornbread was a disappointment. They give you a huge piece of cornbread that upon first sight seems like a wondrous side. However, it was too dried and lacked any sort of flavor. I also had their carrot cake dessert, which was good, but nothing too exceptional. The service was fairly good; no issues. The maitre'd was friendly, the waiter was helpful and took the time to explain the menu and addressed any questions we had, and the other staff was attentive to refilling our drinks or cleaning our table. Again, pretty good service. I also enjoyed the atmosphere. They had the classic oldies music playing in the background, which actually suited the meal. I didn't explore most of the restaurant because we were fortunate enough to be seated in one of the adjoining rooms. This room gave an almost private setting for my group. It was a great setting. As mentioned, I went for lunch on Sunday. There wasn't a wait. However, I don't know if this holds true for a weeknight or Saturday dinner. Definitely give it a try! read more

I had heard about the Chicago Q from a former colleague and they were also featured on 190 North. To begin the pickles and chips were delicious, the chips were seasoned to perfection. My wife and I also ordered the fried green tomatoes as an appetizer which are accompanied by a light dill sauce. My wife really enjoyed the fried green tomatoes and I thought they were good as well. We both ordered the Q2 for our main entrees. I had the pulled chicken and half slab of St. Louis style ribs and my wife enjoyed the pulled pork and half chicken. As far as Chicago barbeque goes my wife and I have enjoyed better barbeque at Smoque or Carson Ribs downtown. Don't get me wrong the food was good but nothing exceptional or award winning in my book, I'm sorry! I agree with many of the users that have dined at Chicago Q that you pay for the ambience because it is very upscale, Gold Coast. Overall a good experience and the service was great. The only negative I would say was paying $3 for a small bottle of Coke! I can go to McDonalds and get a large Coke for a $1! They don't even give you refills. I always say you get what you pay for and if you are dining on the Gold Coast, you are going to pay Gold Coast prices. If you want incredible barbeque for a little less money go to Smoque BBQ. If you want to impress a friend that's visiting the Windy City take them to Chicago Q. read more

Everyone needs an escape every once and a while. When in Chicago, why not escape to BBQ paradise. The meal begins with complementary, house-made bread and butter pickles and perfectly seasoned barbecue chips. From there, browse the extensive bourbon and wine list and relax in the ambiance of southern charm while you study the menu. While all choices are good choices, some choices are more good than others. Without fail, the Competition Style ribs and cornbread are a guaranteed winner. Also, the brisket sandwich and pulled chicken are formidable options; but why not just order everything? You should. The meal ends with a rolled-up hot towel presented artfully on a small plate. This turns out to be more-than-necessary considering the amount of the quite excellent sauce you will inevitably end up wearing like cheap makeup. In one word - the restaurant is STUNNING. read more

Can I just say wow!! My boyfriend and I stumbled across this place on yelp while trying to find dinner downtown and it was amazing start to finish! From the minute we walked in I was impressed. The hostesses were polite. I loved the decor and the tables weren't too close together like you find at a lot of places, especially downtown. The server was very knowledgable and genuinely seemed proud to work there. The food was amazing and I'm not usually a huge BBQ lover but everything was top notch. I recommend the BBQ trio for the appetizer so you can taste everything. And definitely don't pass on the Mac and cheese as your side dish (yummmmmm)!! Overall it was high end taste and high end service at moderate prices. Personally, I'd leave the kids at home and skip the drink menu. But if you live in Chicago or even the burbs you definitely should put q on your to do list. read more

The food was decent. Loved the complimentary pickles and chips. Definitely over priced for the taste and quality. The wait staff was not very at tentative to our group of 6. Also, the other staff that brought food or cleared dishes could not understand simple ENGLISH requests such as "we would like additional diet cokes" or "may we have some lemon". That's very disappointing. Beware when ordering soda pop. It's $3 which seems just a bit above average. But, that's for ONE 8 OUNCE BOTTLE. NO REFILLS. Lastly, we found good debris literally frozen in our ice cubes. We had poured the bottle of soda in the glass and them saw the articles frozen inside the ice. We immediately showed the waitress. I was in disbelief that up until this past weekend I had never went to Chicago q before! I went here with my girlfriend after being completely ignored at Rock Bottom Restaurant. We were both pretty upset and after a quick glance at our trusty Yelp app a taxi ride delivered us to Chicago q. Right away I was impressed the inside was very comfortable and we got seated right away. Our waiter took time to explain everything including specials and recommended starters. We ended up ordering two appetizers and split a full rack of st louis ribs with mac and cheese. First of all best hush puppies ever! Secondly I will never look for barbeque again in the city. Let me start by saying that the service here is incredible! Definitely what I consider a BBQ Game Changer. I went there for the first time with my friend Becca and some of her girlfriends and was absolutely blown away. According to my buddies, you even get a special treat on you birthday. This was a new idea to me and ended up loving it. The fries and sandwich are served all together bunched up and yummy in my tummy. So the fries end up being covered in the wonderful sauces and grease which dominate the sandwich. Seriously this place is truly as good as it gets within Chicago's BBQ scene. The outside seating was phenomenal as we came here to celebrate my friend's birthday. Everyone is well-motivated and timely with their greetings. The brunch deal of bottomless mimosas is classic. Their house chips alongside the pickles are tasty. As a main choice, we preferred hush puppies and their dipping sauce was a joy. The sandwich, alongside the offering of three barbecue options, is on the delightful side. The coleslaw is on the adequate side. I've been to Chicago Q several times. The food is delicious and the service is great. They start you off with some scrumptious Bbq chips. Don't eat too much though, they are addictive so be sure to save room for the main meal! The caesar salad with bacon bits was nothing special, the bacon bits were a bit too hard to chew. But the main star, the St. Louis style Bbq ribs with a side of honey cornbread?!!! To die for! It's so good, I get it every time. I'm going to preface this by saying that I grew up in Eastern North Carolina, eating the best BBQ. I moved to Chicago about 5 years ago, and have visited my favorite BBQ place without straying much in this time. I decided to try out Chicago Q for my birthday this year, and can only say Oh My God. Everything, from the service to the menu options to the amazingly accurate Eastern Carolina BBQ sauce was absolutely amazing. From a Southerner, that was some of the best sauce I've ever had. After my third visit I thought I would write a review. The ambiance and staff are always on point. I feel like there is a consistency issue in the food. The first time was the best, it had just opened. The second time I wasn't impressed with the quality of the meat. It was fatty and very dry in spots. The third time it was more of the same. I have had some good barbecue in my time. This is about average. It was neither bad nor exceptionaly good. I had the macaroni and cheese, which was actually quite good and gooey. The pulled pork was a bit dry as well as the brisket. The whole experience was average. I have nothing to complain about but also nothing to rave about. Best date night BBQ in the city! Huge portions, great ambiance. You get a date night space and service and still your good old BBQ, sauce selections included, not in plastic ramekins of course. The service is always stellar, however, they always seem a bit over staffed, could be I am there at off hours as I live a block away. The restaurant itself was really cute. It almost felt like you were in someone's very large home due to the set up. I was actually pleasantly surprised considering the amount of food we got and because I ordered the most expensive entrée.The side of fries it came with also short and disappointing - how can you mess up fries? Only one bone of the ribs was fatty so a bit more tender, so perhaps I just got a bad rack? I also wish more sides came with the different entrees. read more

Chicago Q is just walking distance from where we just signed a new lease on an apartment! Food was really good. I had the BBQ flight which was enough for dinner. It is served with yummy chips and pickles. My roommate had the pulled port brisket sandwich which was also good. The service was mediocre at best. However the reason for the reduced stars is because my credit card was charged twice. UGH! Have to go back and deal with that tonight after work. read more

Not really sure what or how to say this, as my experience was dreadful - food was mediocre at best, for what was actually edible. This price is not at all inexpensive. Your average plate is probably $25. So, you'd expect slightly better taste and service. However, you receive exactly the opposite. Again, food is mediocre. Service is terrible. Also, expect to spend about $100 on drinks, as you have to purchase drinks by the oz....$3 per eight ounces. read more

I like the Q. Eaten here a number of times, carried out as well. Never had a bad meal or experience. I have tried the ribs, chicken, pulled pork to name a few, all great. Sides are slight derivations of traditional dishes...the fries, slaw and corn bread are excellent. Prices are actually FAIR given you're in Downtown Chicago. They have indoor, bar and outdoor seating areas. I finished my latest order of ribs tonight... great as left-overs as well. read more

I absolutely loved the charm of this place. The tones of the dining room, white wainscotting up to the 2nd floor, and a large scale picture box really warmed up the atmosphere. Classy bbq! I once lived a block from Chicago q so my wife and I dined there frequently. Great pulled pork sandwiches, and the spicy q sauce is the best I've ever had. So good that I still order it online and have it shipped to my residence now that I do not live close by anymore. I've had really great ribs here, and really good ones -- so expect some variation in quality as you should with most restaurants. read more

I've had some awesome experiences here and a couple not so great ones. Food has been on point most of the time but a couple times the meat was tough and dry and not good. I've given this place try after try and it's been good with good service and atmosphere since. I will toss those 2 times up to bad days and will still hit this place up. He told me that when I arrive I should see him or Juan, the manager. When we got there, we wanted to sit outside and went to look at the area. There was a group of servers outside and they were so very friendly. It looked like rain, so we chose a table inside. Our server, Cesar, turned out to be fabulous. I must admit I was slightly biased since he had been my student in high school. That was such a surprise! I can't remember any restaurant that I've been to where the servers, managers, and everyone was beyond helpful. Aside from the people, I the food was great. I had Greek chicken, and it was enough for three people! I ate the leftovers at home for the next two nights, and they were still great.
