Came in for lunch on a thursday, not too busy. I decided to try the short rib and cheddar waffle (the short rib is on top/on the side of the cheddar waffle) rather than my usual chicken and waffle. I do regret that decision as the short rib portion was very small and also kind of weird tasting. However, the waffle was pretty good and so was the banana cream waffle. The service was awesome and the waitress even overhead us getting excited about a certain sauce, and brought us a different dish with the same sauce to try! The Duck Benedict was SO good and I was uncomfortably full by the end of my meal after I cleaned it all up. We came in on a weekend around 11:30am and we're lucky to snag the last table without any wait time. I love that the duck Benedict came with potatoes and fruit to make it a balanced meal. The service here is terrible and the food is over priced and not good at all. I also felt that the employees here were racist.

The waffles were awesome. It was just enough to order the special, "Red Velvet Waffles" with a side of scrambled eggs. It was a good price to pay. The coffee was smooth. The waffle batter had bacon in it, served with chicken tenders and more bacon with spicy syrup. The chicken was tasteless, and the syrup wasn't spicy at all. Don't think we even received spicy syrup. I ordered their Mexican waffle. It was supposed to come with Mexican abuelita chocolate, bananas and vanilla & chocolate sauces. The batter was supposed to contain abuelita, and then it appears they even sprinkled some on top, but lacked any flavor of abuelita. It was also supposed to come with vanilla and chocolate sauces. There was only vanilla lightly added on top of the waffle, but no chocolate sauce to be found. I had to double check and ask if this was the Mexican waffle and she confirmed that it was. Had they actually put a considerable amount in there batter, this waffle would have tasted so delicious. Instead I got a tasteless waffle with barely any flavors that were being described. I've been here twice now and both experiences were great! In the summer, they have a cute dog friendly patio and the inside has some really cool Chicago photography. Food: The banana cream pie waffles is one of the best breakfast dishes I've ever had. It's honestly more like dessert and boy will it satisfy any sweet tooth! The waffle sampler is fun for indecisive people like myself because then you get to try lots of different waffle flavors (their menu is pretty big!). I also had a short rib skillet that was soooo good so despite their name, they know how to make amazing savory dishes too. The bacon chicken waffle was good but not as amazing as I expected so that's the only thing I wouldn't get again. Service is always great - both times my servers were so sweet and helpful even when they were slammed. Good atmosphere for a breakfast place but some of our food orders missed the mark. I ordered the waffle flight and a side of bacon. The plate looked great (sorry, I forgot to take a photo). Unfortunately while the regular waffles were good the Liege waffles, which I usually enjoy, were rock hard throughout. Also my side of "crisp" bacon was overdone, some of it tasted burnt. My daughter ordered an omelette with egg whites and received one with whole eggs. I suggested she return it but she was hungry and didn't wish to wait. But my daughter and I both enjoyed the decor, including some whimsical paintings which included, of course, waffles. Overall a disappointing visit, though. We usually frequent their 1400 S. Michigan Ave. address but we wandered by over the weekend and were we happy we did! Gary and his team do a lovely job, from the welcoming demeanors of his team to the delicious food prepared by his kitchen colleagues. The presentation of the food is excellent, the service is top-notch, and the taste/quality is top-shelf. The portions are enough that you can take left overs home (except for the Nutella Crepes, who would ever have left over Nutella?!). Best kept secret: the $1 coffee to go (free if you buy a meal tho) if you are just walking by and need a jolt. The same great Lavazza, just in a paper cup. NB: cash only. Considering that there is a S***bucks just a few blocks to the east, save your cash and buy your morning brew here. The decor is warm and welcoming and they offer plenty of seating to accommodate social distancing. The outdoor tables are roomy and comfortable. I highly recommend Waffles! Stumbled upon this place on my trip to Chicago. My friend who is a local and lives near here was pleasantly surprised too as she had never stopped by before. The menu is a bit large and overwhelming, but we were all happy with what we ordered. I got the eggs Benedict trio with salmon, beef, and pork. DELICIOUS. Aptly named, the waffles were the tastiest part. Very moist and fluffy. The drinks here are great, I normally order an Irish coffee and a shot of baileys on the side. The shot makes the coffee have a heavier kick and cools the coffee. For food I normally order a chicken and bacon waffle with a side of short ribs. In the mornings on week days this place is pretty quiet with maybe a couple of cops or other patrons sitting pretty far from each other and talking in low voices. Food: This place has lots of selection in their menu, we got the steak and egg and trio Benedict. The steak was cooked accordingly, however, I felt like the meat quality wasn't the best. It tasted like it had been stored a little too long, but just before it got bad. The home fries were delicious though super crispy on the outside, and soft inside plus seasoned well. Chimichurri sauce went really well with the steak, especially the choice of olive oil. The true Benedict was good. The salmon was probably the best rated out of the three then came the steak, but the pulled pork didn't really have much flavor, it was more like water down. Service: the service was great, they made sure we had everything and even brought us a free dessert on the house. Which was super yummy! It was 4 waffles with two ice cream and cinnamon butter whipped with chocolate sauce and chocolate chip. Ambiance: it's a pretty casual restaurant with interesting dog decor. Very friendly family with outdoor patio as an option to sit. Location accommodation: it has a huge awning with a waffle picture that you can't miss. Parking is on the street side. I really love the service here. You sit down and are offered water right away. The waitress was patient and came back to check on us after the food was served - and they had an additional server just for water. My daughter loved the pancakes. Pancakes were huge with plenty of berries and whipped cream. My chicken and gravy was a little dry and the gravy lacked flavor. Plus the poached eggs were pretty much hard boiled. So I have to drop a star. My son enjoyed his skillet steak but didn't like how the eggs came on top. Also be aware that skillet steak is steak bits but it was cooked well. Bathrooms are very clean! Comes with chorizo, guac, salsa, cheese, onions, red peppers and tomato. I also like the Healthy Breakfast Skillet as it includes eggs (over easy) turkey bacon, turkey sausage, turkey bacon, crumbled feta, sauteed spinach and broccoli. Very huge portion and pretty good and comes with toast. You can eat for breakfast and come back to it in a couple of hours and do a late lunch.
