I wasn't sure what to expect when ordering from here for the first time. The small location with minimal signage or marketing allows for it to be easily overlooked. I was visiting my family in Mesa, Arizona last weekend and my nephew told me about this wonderful restaurant. They are located in a small strip mall that is mostly empty and as other reviewers said you could actually miss the place if you weren't looking for it. Plenty of parking but the place does get busy at lunch time and tables become a premium. There is a large population year round of Chicagoan's whom have migrated to Arizona so come early. We arrived around noon on Saturday and by 12:15/12:30 all the tables were taken and there was a line . Atmosphere is just like your typical hot dog/beef stand in Chicago. Unpretentious , with the Authentic Gyros posters and a few Chicago landmark pictures here and there. TV for your viewing pleasure and Greek Music piped in. OPA! The restaurant was very clean, chairs, tables, floor even the kitchen area that was exposed. The food arrived within reason as each item is made fresh to order. The items were then brought to our table by the Owner. He is a charming man. I did not get his name but when we left I shook his hand and wished him much success. It really doesn't get any better than this. We all sampled something from the menu.. My nephew is hooked on the Gyros. I tried the meat and it was fantastic. Since I have a good Gyros near my home, I stuck with my two Chicago Favorites - Italian Beef & Pizza Puff. The Italian beef was fantastic.. I am sure it was Vienna Beef . I got mine with Hot gardiener peppers and soggy. My pizza puff was a delicious and greasy as I remember from back home and so delicious! My dad and his friend had Chicago style hot dogs with the works and they were Vienna Beef hot dogs so totally authentic Chicago Dogs. I have posted some photos of our delicious items. I highly recommend this place to anyone with a craving for great Greek food or Chicago favorites. They carry most standard Greek fare as in falfel, hummus, slouvaki and shiskebob. My nephew says the hummus is to die for. I skipped it on this trip but will definitely try it again. The only improvement he could make are the french fries. They are good , hot crisp on the outside and tender on the inside, but to make them authentic Chicago they should be fresh cut with the skin on them. read more

Who would think that I would find a place like this is remote Apache Junction, in an even remoter neighborhood off the main drag? If not for Yelp I would never have found this place on my own and even then may not have stopped in. I'm glad I did. This is not a fancy place, it would be wrong to compare it to those slick Greek-style chain places that are popping up. It's obviously a labor of love of someone who like to make, serve and eat good food, and after all isn't that what really counts? The menu is surprisingly large but I wanted to see how they did with a basic Gyro sandwich, no frills. Unlike those new chain fast food Gyro places I wasn't handed a pre-made Gyro in an instant. It took them a while to make it and when it was delivered to my table it was piping hot, as were the French fries. This place is going to rank from now on as a place I compare other Gyro places to. The pita was light and fluffy and warm and as just right as it could be. Inside was meat ... lots of meat, thick moist warm cuts of seasoned meat. They didn't load it with so much other stuff that the meat was drowned in other flavors. If you like meaty Gyros sandwiches this place is your nirvana. Along with the meat was just the right touch of some red ripe tomatoes, a few slices of red onion and a small dollop of tzatziki sauce, not so much to drown the meat but to compliment it. Was craving a good gyro after our nearby Big Fat Greek Restaurant went under new management (and became a less than ideal place to eat). This place serves a huge, tasty gyro with a side of fries and a drink for only $8.90. The gyro comes with onions, tzatziki sauce, tomatoes, and loads of gyro meat (lamb) in pita bread. I ordered mine with added lettuce (no extra charge). We ended up ordering a couple extra pita breads ($1/ea) and put some gyro meat in them. It was a LOT of food and we were all stuffed when we left (and none of us finished our fries). Servings are very generous!! My 8 year old wasn't sure she would like the gyro so she ordered some fried mac and cheese bites. They were tasty, but very heavy and rich. They'd make a good appetizer to share, but not a good main dish. (She ended up eating an extra pita with some of my meat and lettuce in it.) We also ordered a pizza puff to try after reading some other yelp reviewers raving about it. It was tasty. They used a spicy Italian sausage, which gave it a little kick. It came out hot and crisp. Sad. I was here about 1.5 years ago. This place used to have great gyros. Today the gyros was marginal, the meat was just okay, hardly any tzatziki sauce (before it was covered with a nice thick sauce that wasn't watered down, and included plenty of tomatoes and onions) it was obvous the fries had been sitting out for awhile and weren't freshly made. Went here at the recommendation of a local. Got a gyro, fries and Greek salad. The gyro meat was so-so. I did not like the tzatziki sauce at all - did not taste like it was made in house. Phone rings busy often for long periods of time. When you call they put phone down on the counter and wait on every person that walks through the door and doesn't cone back to take your phone order. They just hang up the phone on you after 20 plus minutes. Almost NO meat (2 pieces that barely covered 1 side of the bun) on a beef sandwhich. Just bought there Chicago dog and three meet platter. The dog didn't need ketchup says a lot right there. The meet platter is so good! Like three plates in one. Recommend for any one. The only place around that has decent Greek / Mediterranean food. We ordered two gyro's and they tasted decent. I would have to agree with a lot of the other negative reviews here though regarding the owner. Not only did we show up on a Friday night after the allotted time, but then had to wait an additional 20 mins because they were behind. The owner was cooking in the back in view and when the young lady up front had a question to him he yelled at her and had a really bad attitude. Definitely made for an awkward wait. read more

Delicious!! I live close by and I go there all the time. Their food is authentic. The best Mediterranean in the area. People want to go there and order freakin burgers and hot dogs and complain that it's not good. It's not a place for that. Their hummus, kabob, shwarmas, falafel, and salads are very good. Don't let the austere exterior fool you -- this locally-owned eatery serves up some mighty tasty Mediterranean cuisine in portion sizes that satisfy even the hungriest of bellies. The owner is very friendly, too, and his jovial demeanor shows that he cares about his business and the customers who frequent it. Came here on a wed night around 730. They close at 8 but they were very accommodating. I had two kids with me so we were kind of slow. We ordered three dishes. One steak combo, one combo of all meat, and chicken tender for my three year old. All dishes were delicious. Meat was tender. Pork was tasty without the dips. We used to go here often as it was the closest gyro shop and we like to support mom and pop shops especially during these trying times. We stopped here today for takeout and after seeing numerous customers come and go without a mask on nor did the employees have masks on... myself and my entire family will now find a new place to get gyros. It's a shame they can't follow guidelines and care about the safety of their customers which in this area has a high population of the most vulnerable to COVID. Not to mention the last few times I have called to place a takeout order I was put on "hold" with the sound of conversations in the background and would have to hang up and call multiple times again. I have been by this place so many times in the past but they always seemed to be closed or I was not in the mood for Greek food until last week. Let me start off by stating the facts on this place. It is in a small strip mall, the parking lot is small and does fill up quick given that it is shared with many other business including a daycare center. So do not think you are going to run in and dash back out in a few mins. The prices are on the high side for what they offer as a meal ( a small fry, and 2 gyros) set me back almost 20. I ordered the traditional gyro (mixture of lamb and beef, tzatziki sauce, and onions) which was served on a nicely grilled pita bread. My friend ordered the chicken gyro minus the tzatziki and the fries I mentioned before. Once we got our orders we headed back to the house to eat as there was no room in the dinning room at the restaurant. Anyways my first bite of this great Greek style sandwich was full of flavor. The creamy tzatziki mixed with the spiced flavor of the meat and was great. It was one of the better Greek items I have had in a while. I only gave them 3 stars because of the price and the super long wait time between ordering and getting my food. If you are going to be busy like that during lunch time then hire more people or get the food out a little faster. Wow has this place gone down hill and it seems the owner has no time to care to take a customers call in regards to service or order. We normally order here at least once a month sometimes more. The past few times little things were wrong here and there, we decided to overlook them until tonight. 4 orders we placed tonight were to come with pita. Guess what only the gyro sandwich did. Not the chicken plate, not the large greek salad, and not the feta and olives. We also ordered an Italian Beef Sandwich no peppers. Guess what open foil to find a large piece of green pepper and all the beef tasted of pepper. The bread wasn't toasted but so so soggy and wet. Crazy considering the au jus was on the side. I only can think they marinated the beef with green peppers. You think they would tell you if someone says no green peppers especially if that person had allergies could only imagine. Called to talk to owner regarding pita and girl on phone could care less told me he was to busy to come to phone. Said I could come get pita if I wanted. Yeah right then my food would be cold. Said I wanted to talk to owner for credit in future not have my food cold. She lays phone down here him start to yell at her for forgetting pita. I then decided not worth it won't be returning anyways and hung up. Got me thinking either he can't pay adequate people or hires inadequate people. When Inwas in restaurant industry if customers call due to you forgetting something first thing was apologize and ask what you can do to make it up or get there info and comp something next visit. I love this family run shop! Sometimes you wait a bit if they're busy, but your fod is always hot and fresh! The servings are huge. We go weekly, and the family remembers us, and our favorite orders. This is great for the kids too, offering the normal Greek fare, but also chicken fingers, burgers, and the like. The new desserts are yummy! OK, I'm just like everyone. Extremely hesitant when it involves anything in Apache Junction. But alas, I was shockingly surprised to find that I actually enjoyed this place. Unfortunately I live in Gold Canyon so my dining options are limited and I was craving a Gyro and I didn't not want to drive at least 30 mins west to get one. I have been driving by this place for years and I finally decided that it was time to actually give it a shot. This is a quaint little place, nothing fancy, just down to earth little eatery, with walk up counter ordering and sit down service. What I really enjoyed was when I walked up to the counter you can see into the kitchen and it was actually really clean and you can watch as your food is prepared, always a plus for me. So far this place is looking pretty good. Picture menu above the counter was pretty informative with the exception of most of the items were not priced, which I thought was strange, but I got over it, heh. Now to the important part, the food. I ordered the classic Gyro sandwich and Dolmas (stuffed grape leaves). The Gyro was actually pretty tasty and presented quite simply with kebab meat, Tzatziki sauce, lettuce, and raw white onion, wrapped in paper. It also came with a side of fries, which were the standard frozen variety, so nothing special, but not bad at the same time. The Dolmas were pretty good as well. I think there were about six of them plated on a bed of lettuce, a couple slices of cucumber, a couple pieces of feta cheese and several olives. Definitely not the best Dolmas I have ever had, but certainly not the worst either, but no complaints. The value of this place is solid. I got the Gyro, the Dolmas, and a soda for $13 and change. It's definitely a place to grab a solid meal. It's quick, it's affordable and it's conveniently located to me. I will be back again in the future for sure! read more
