End of the break no beef sandwich

Where's the beef ?????? Had a taste for a beef sandwich. When I got home the bread covered the beef. The sandwich folded over the beef.....When you get a Chicago beef sandwich. You expect beef over flowing the sandwich Wasted $10.00 Never returning..... Tim

Look, it's a dive location, but the food is very good, and for the price is amazing!! It's the kind of mom and pop dive I live. The decor is dated but clean enough, but the service was impeccable! Worth every penny and then some!

Chicago's Number One Gyros 850 S Ironwood Dr, Apache Junction, AZ 85120 I recently had the pleasure of visiting Chicago's Number One Gyros located at 850 S Ironwood Dr, Apache Junction, AZ. While in the area to show a vacant space for a potential massage business, I felt a bit hungry and was delighted to discover this charming Chicago Hot Dog restaurant nearby. I ordered a delicious gyro with fries and kindly requested the lady at the counter to prepare my fries without salt. She was incredibly friendly and happily obliged, frying a fresh batch just for me. I truly appreciated her willingness to accommodate my request. During my visit, there was an unexpected moment when another customer choked on their food. Thankfully, another patron quickly called for help, and the fire department arrived in just five minutes. I am so grateful for the swift response of the firefighters, who handled the situation with professionalism and care. Overall, my experience at Chicago's Number One Gyros was filled with warmth and kindness, and I left feeling thankful for the delicious food and the attentive service.

I found this place on yelp. While it had both good and bad reviews, I decided to give it a try anyway because I was hungry for a gyro. Everything started off good, the girl at the counter was very nice, I placed my order to go and sat down to wait. It was done pretty quickly. When getting the bag I asked if I could have some extra sauce because I know places like to skimp, I was told they charge for it. Hmmm, oh well ok, I went ahead and got one, 2.00 after tax for one tiny little cup and I mean tiny. Got home and started to eat, so glad I got the extra sauce because it was very minimal and at the very bottom of the sandwich. Also there were only 2 tiny tomatoes, no lettuce, I did feel there was plenty of meat but I won't be going back.

I've been craving a good gyro for a while now and haven't really found one in the East Valley that hits the spot--until now. I'd heard about Chicago #1 Gyros in AJ, and one day while I was nearby I decided to finally stop in and grab something to go for lunch. The place was pretty quiet (midday during the week), but I was greeted right away with a friendly welcome. They were super accommodating to my special request to have the meat grilled after slicing, and I only waited a few minutes before my order was ready. I just went with the gyro sandwich (no fries), and let me tell you--it tasted exactly like I remembered a great gyro should. The pita was soft and fresh, the portion was generous and fully stuffed with meat (which is what really counts!), and everything was hot and flavorful. If I had to nitpick, I'd say I could've used just a little more tzatziki and toppings, but overall it was delicious. I'll definitely be back to try more of the menu next time. So glad I finally found a gyro spot in the area worth returning to!

Philly cheesesteak missing all of the name sake. Change name to AJ no cheese or steak. C'mon it's in the name.

Why? Change can be good, however, not in this case. I can't speak for anything else on the menu but this is my last time coming here. We found this place some years ago and came for the Philly, but whatever changed, it is not good nor any thing resembling what we use to love. Skimp on meat, skimp on cheese (looked like craft singles, lol). Seemed to be some of same ingredients but implementation, and quantity severely lacking. Finished the food and the last visit.

Simple surroundings, but excellent food. This is one of those places, in my opinion. Ordered the Greek salad w/ beef kabob. They even asked how I wanted the meat prepared. I went for rare, and it was rare. Very fresh greens, soft and warm pita bread. Dressing on the side, which I like, because Greek dressing can sometimes be a little acidic. This was not. Smooth, with light acidity. Very tasty. The meat (see picture) was loaded on and delicious. Charred nicely on the outside, rare inside. Presented very well. Baklava for desert. What can I say - I've never really had bad Baklava. Very buttery, honey, pistachios. I'm giving five stars, because I didn't expect this to be so tasty. Expected good. Nothing fancy as far as dining, but very clean. But I don't order the tables and chairs - I order the meal, and that's what I eat. You order at the counter and they serve. The young lady was very friendly - perhaps limited English, but no one was rude. She served my food, and I forgot to grab utensils. She went back to get them w/ no attitude. I saw the cook (maybe the owner/mgr?) serve a couple and very friendly. I saw some bad reviews regarding service, so just wanted to explain that didn't happen to me. Anyway, I will go back here. Hopefully, will be as good as the salad.

We also never leave without ordering a few baklava to go & eat later because we are so full. It's a little place off Apache Trail & Ironwood. Order, sit down & they bring the food to you.

I was reminded why I don't dine here more frequently, they put the 'meh' in Mediterranean. Starting with the ambiance, this place is looking old and weathered. Their store front is not very inviting. Once inside, you navigate through their dining area to the counter to order. The counter area looks more like an advertisement for other establishments...stickers, ads, coupons, notes and all sorts of motley items. The man who I think was doing three jobs in one (host, order taker, bathroom attendant) took my order and walked away. No friendly hello or enthusiasm of any kind. Once I took my seat I watched several people use their store just for the bathroom in the back...the back where there's no door separating the dining area vs. kitchen vs. warehouse vs. bathroom. People were standing in a line to use the restroom a foot from where my food was being made. I ordered a simple gyro sandwich with rice. The sandwich was pretty straight-forward: gyro slices, onions, tomatoes and tzatziki. When it arrive, there was no sign of tomatoes or onion...just different shades of brown drowning in too much tzatziki. I eventually found several onions and one tiny tomato underneath all the meat. Underneath...what a poor presentation. The rice was okay...nothing special. There was nothing here that would draw me back. Having several other Mediterranean food options within miles that I do enjoy has relegated this place to 'in emergency break glass' status.
