Chicas Cantina was a great find! The tamarind agua fresca was absolutely fabulous--refreshing, flavorful, and perfect for a hot day. I ordered the nopales and ribeye tacos, and both were delicious. The ingredients tasted fresh, and the flavors were well balanced. One of my favorite touches was the self-serve toppings bar. Being able to add fresh cilantro, salsa verde, and pickled onions made the tacos even better and let me customize them exactly how I like them. 1st service - I wish we caught her name but we didn't. But she was amazing!!!! I know she works every Tuesday, so give her a raise! She knew it was our first visit and mature to come out and check on us!! 2) ambiance-the beck patio is where it's at. There's a handful of tables, but it's the perfect set up inside. You can sit at the bar and all is good. 3) food: we tried the strip, ribeye, mushroom and chicken tacos. honestly, I don't know of another taco joint in town that does it as well as they do. This cute little spot in Butchertown is very inviting. It's in a little house and you walk into a bar with a spot to order. You can already see from the register the fresh salsa, onion, cilantro available for toppings for your tacos. There are containers behind the counter that you can see with all the fresh tortillas already prepared for the day. I was most impressed with having three different vegetarian options. That's not normally something I see with Mexican restaurants. I got the oyster mushroom taco, and the cactus (nopales) taco. I topped it with the jalapeño salsa, cilantro, and pickled onions. This also went with the dip trio. Lastly, I also enjoyed a prickly pear margarita, all of the food was excellent and well priced. Came here after a soccer game. We ordered the trio, dip and chips and a couple tacos each. Absolutely loved the dip and chips. The tacos were pretty good but very basic. Just the meat on the tortilla and you can add your own salsa to it. It would be nice if they offered a little bit more like possibly some beans or rice to complete the meal. read more

Came here on a Saturday night when looking for a place to eat dinner. This is a great location, in the perfect spot to hit up after a Lou City game. The menu is pretty small, but you can't go wrong with any of the taco options! We didn't try the margaritas, but definitely will next time because they looked delicious! The FLAVORFUL were amazing. The cook on the meat was crispy and delicious just as you want it from a street taco and that you hardly get in Louisville. I went to Chicas Cantina for a birthday celebration and it was such a vibe! The inside is super cute--it's set up like a shotgun house but decorated beautifully, which made it feel cozy and unique. Now let's talk favorites--the trio (salsa, guacamole, and queso) was FIRE. Easily one of the best parts of the meal. I'd definitely consider this more of a small bites/tapas-style spot rather than a full, filling meal. Pro tip: go on Tuesday! Fantastic new spot! Small menu and everything is supper fresh and food is cooked right in front of you and very fast. Super friendly and efficient service! Good and drink open til 11pm weekdays and Friday and Saturday til 2am.
