Been coming here for while now and honestly feel like this place deserves more customers. Yes, the shop can feel a little run down and maybe not the cleanest compared to some newer boba spots, but their drinks genuinely slap. One thing that really sets them apart is their flavored boba. Most places use popping boba that bursts with syrup, but here the flavored boba still has the normal chewy boba texture while actually tasting flavorful, which I personally love. I'm a huge fan of their Pineapple Green Tea with Mango Boba. Sounds kind of wack on paper, but the pineapple and mango combo works surprisingly well together. Another surprise favorite was the Hazelnut Milk Tea Smoothie with boba, pudding, and milk foam. The kiosk recommended it while I was checking out and since I'm a sucker for hazelnut, I gave it a try. Ended up loving it. One thing to note is the drinks here do tend to run sweet, even at low sugar if the drink is adjustable. So if you're one of those conservative, not-too-sweet Asians, beware. Brought my upstate New York friend here to try boba for the first time (her, not me). Like every other Bay Area Taiwanese girl, I recognize drinking boba as both an art form and a lifelong sport. Another boba spot that was recommended by my friend, so I decided to stop by on a Saturday afternoon. It was the perfect day for a drink since the weather was pretty warm in the Bay Area. I did have trouble looking for the entrance mainly because it was on the side and wasn't located close to the parking lot. The inside was quite spacious and definitely a great hang out spot. I ordered the Golden Brown Sugar Boba Milk Tea with grass jelly. My friend said it runs sweet, so I did 25%. The boba was really chewy and loved the silky grass jelly. I didn't realize that the milk tea was Earl Grey, which is one of my favorite teas. I'm also glad that this drink was non-dairy since I'm lactose. The drink was so good, that I pretty much inhaled it within 30 min. I think I realized that I do prefer fruity drinks, especially during the summer since they're more refreshing. An update! As it's been quite a while since we've been back. We walked in and we were taken back as some kind of Enhyphen event was happening. Definitely did not feel like you could stay and drink your drink. They had a few handmade vendors on the side sitting in the tables. You could order at the counter as well as kiosks. They had two self order kiosks, but one was Snackpass and the other seemed to be another vendor. We ended up ordering on the Snackpass one (left) as I do have a Snackpass account and we all want to gain rewards for sure! Also it showed some deals that were going on at the time and apparently special Valentines day drinks were $2.14 off! Score! So instead of getting an ozmanthus oolong I got a Strawberry milk tea which I got for less than $5. That's a steal considering most drinks get upwards to $7-8 with toppings. Speaking of toppings, most of their toppings were $1 (boba included) whereas I got grass jelly which was an additional $0.70. They do still have their handmade flavored boba. I just can't chew well anymore. Their drinks come in paper cups now which I'm torn with as I know they're easier to recycle, but you cannot see inside. ~ Strawberry Milk Tea w/ Grass Jelly ~ I got 0% sugar and no ice. It felt like 100% sugar. It was SO sweet. Good thing I brought it home to drink. I ended up transferring it into another cup, adding more oat milk and ice which basically doubled the drink for me. Again that's not a bad thing but at the same time, if you're drinking this drink there, either get some ice to hopefully dilute it a bit or choose a different drink. I do appreciate the bits of strawberry puree. Very strawberry forward. I felt like I was drinking a melted strawberry milk shake. Service was ok? They kind of say the number and then leave the drinks on the counter and I basically had to look at each cup to make sure I wasn't taking someone else's drink. I kind of wish they lined up the drinks one behind the other with some kind of receipt or at least face the tags on the drink outward as well as in some kind of order. Mr. Sun uses earl grey as their base black tea, which is one of my favorites, and they have an abundance of unique toppings. There used to be a rotating fruit boba menu, but I'm not sure if they do that anymore. Today when I went the options for boba were brown sugar, strawberry, and mango. The boba is always cooked to perfection and the drinks aren't too sweet at 25-50%. My favorite drinks are the golden brown sugar boba milk tea, strawberry boba milk tea, and peach green tea. The three brothers milk tea is also good if you wanna chew on lots of toppings. Employees are always incredibly nice even when it's packed. I will say sometimes it seems like they're understaffed (2, sometimes only 1 person behind the counter). I like their kpop playlist and decor. I always forget how much I love Mr. Sun until I go for the first time in a while. Easily one of my favorite boba places in Fremont. Still can't beat TP Tea and I'll vouch for TPT as my favorite and most top tier boba spot in every review sorry, but Mr. Sun is definitely where I go when the type of drink I'm looking for isn't offered at TPT. I wanted a boba bar for my wedding in November and my sister's friend recommended Mr. SunTea to me. After getting in contact with Jennifer, the manager, I quickly worked with her to see what could be done within my budget and listened to some suggestions that Jennifer had about how many drinks and what flavors I could have at the boba bar. After getting the general information covered, I scheduled a boba tasting at the Fremont location and she invited me to invite as many people as I wanted to try out the boba to finalize the menu and sign the contract. We were greeted warmly by Jennifer when we got into the restaurant and she and the staff worked quickly to get us pitchers of different flavors to sample: classic milk tea, taro milk tea, passionfruit green tea, peach and passionfruit lemon drink, and lychee green tea. She also let us try a variety of toppings to pair with the flavors: brown sugar boba, strawberry boba, mango boba, pudding, grass jelly, basil seed, and coffee jelly. Everything was absolutely delicious and it was hard to what flavors to have at our boba bar, but Jennifer worked with us to understand the demographic at our wedding and recommended us popular flavors and topics for certain crowds. After the boba tasting, she gave everyone in my party a complimentary boba and also took note of mine and my now husband's favorite drinks so she could make them for us on our wedding day, which was super sweet! On the wedding day, Jennifer and her staff arrived promptly to set up for our wedding. They worked so efficiently to serve boba to our 200+ guests and there were several guests who made multiple trips to the boba bar for more. When the DJ made a final call for the boba bar, a whole crowd of people got up from their tables to get more boba and everyone kept talking about how great it was. After some digging, I found out that it is earl grey tea that is used. The default milk is nondairy and plant based which is what the staff recommend so I went with it. The milk tea was really smooth and 25% sweet was good but I think the perfect balance was somewhere between 0% and 25% sweet for me. Boba had some chew and grass jelly was smooth. Depending on my mood, I like to go for the Strawberry Boba Milk Tea, which is their earl grey tea with strawberry boba. Their earl grey isn't too strong, but still had a good tea flavor to it. I ordered the taro fresh milk thinking that this was going to be similar to taro milk tea with boba and I couldn't have been more wrong. This was straight up just whole milk with taro chunks and boba at the bottom. I was pretty disappointed as I was expecting a different drink and this location charges a dollar for asking for less/no ice which I think is pretty scammy. Even though I paid for the less ice, there were still 10 pieces of ice in the cup which took up a quarter of the cup. The only thing I liked about this drink was the boba as it was pretty chewy and I liked how it was soaked in brown sugar. Especially the way they prepare the boba balls, which isn't made with only tapioca starch like others. They are made with a concoction of konjac jelly and tapioca. Konjac has soooo many health benefits... My personal favorite, fiber! I've tried the mango, strawberry, and brown sugar boba's. My go to is the coffee jelly with hazelnut milk tea. So I was here for the Cafe Caramel Smoothie, it was my first time trying it! It was a Shownu from the K-pop group, Monsta X cup sleeve event. I was told I was the first customer to try the Cafe Caramel Smoothie, at this location, and I gotta say this one is a hit! It's better than a Caramel Frappuccino, from Starbucks, and much more sweeter! It was blended so nice and the caramel was just the perfect amount on top! We ordered the peach jasmine milk tea, Mr sun special, peach milk foam and the panda milk tea. We went on a Sunday and their special was peach boba for the day. It seems like the employees were fairly new but were nice. The bathrooms didn't have any toilet paper and the soap dispenser wasn't working. We told the employees but they didn't fix it right away. While down in Fremont yesterday, I looked up nearby boba places and found Mr. Sun Tea, which apparently are freshly made in-house daily! I knew I couldn't pass up the opportunity to give them a try, and I'm so glad I did! First off, this location is directly on Albrae St, and entirely not visible from the parking lot. Really wish they was at least a sign, but thankfully after walking around the entire parking lot, I decided to turn the corner and low and behold, there they were! The interior is quite spacious, and there are plenty of tables to partake of indoor dining. The inside is thankfully nicely air conditioned, which was a nice reprieve from the hot temperature outside. Ordering can be done either at the counter, or the self-service kiosk to the right. Being my first time here, I opted for the Mr. Sun Mango w/ Mango Boba, which was listed as one of their most popular drinks. Pricing here is very reasonable, and the drink came out to just $6.25. The drink itself was a bit too sweet for me, and unfortunately the specialty drink could not be customized, so I would most likely opt for a different drink next time were I could customize the sugar level. But what really made the drink shine however was the AMAZINGLY DELICIOUS BOBA! Not only were the boba portions generous, but each boba was packed full of delicious mango flavor and had just the perfect amount of chewiness. The difference between Mr. Sun Tea's tapioca balls and other places was truly night and day! I honestly think they set the bar too high, because I'm going to have a hard time going back to inferior boba after this. While there is sadly not a location closer to where I live, this is going to be my one and only boba spot whenever I find myself in Fremont from now on! read more
