With so many milk tea places competing against each other in the Bay Area, Chicha somehow manages to stand out despite it being a franchise. Actually, if you're a freak about franchises, Chicha might be one of the best ones? I am certainly not a freak since I've often found chain milk tea places to be underwhelming, but Chicha surprised me. The ambience in here is honestly really cozy. Even though there's no tables for you to sit and catch up with a friend, the modern and chique interior makes waiting for your drinks a nice experience. They also sell some of their tea powder by the front. The service is also really friendly. They offer samples and can suggest you drinks based on what you think what you might like. Samples, in a milk tea place? Kind of unheard of to me, since I usually have to pay the actual drink fee itself to figure out what I like in a menu. But the real contender that Chicha delivers on is its flavorful drinks. You can definitely taste the tea-- none of that artificial flavoring, watering down or it being too milky. The drink also comes with fresh, piping hot boba, which is always a plus to me! The prices are unfortunately a bit steep; but with the authenticity of the flavors, I guess you're getting what you pay for. Plus there's samples, so you can come in buying a drink you know you'd like. I got the Dong Ding Oolong Milk Tea, which has cemented itself as probably one of my favorite oolong milk teas around the area? It has a strong but refreshing, earthy aroma and the foam at the top is a nice touch. The place does boast about its oolong a fair bit, and I can definitely see how it won an award. There's a few small benches, but sitting somewhat blocks off the walkway for other visitors. Staff was friendly and helpful. Service was also very quick. Lemon Condensed Milk is my usual go to for ChiChaSanChen. My drink felt heavy on the ice even though I asked for less. In terms of value, $8.15 is steep for a 16oz cup. Regardless, I'll be back for this specific drink since I can't get it at any other milk tea chain. I don't frequent Chichasanchen as much as other spots due to pricing and wait times, but sometimes I do crave their lemon condensed milk drinks! read more

So glad there's a new and closer location to me! I always dreaded having to drive to Cupertino for it. It's in the same plaza as Dough Zone, right next to Shin's Tofu. Since it's in a plaza, you'll manage to find parking. Stopped by a little after 1pm on a Saturday, it wasn't busy. Clean & well lit space - they have two benches inside for anyone waiting. To order, there are two kiosks & the worker at the cashier. Convenient, but I can see the place getting crowded when it is super busy. I like that they have the screen to keep you updated on the status of your order. My order was ready before the estimated time listed. Got the Honey Osmanthus Oolong Tea & Bubble Milk Tea (both light sweetness). 10/10 satisfied! Quality tea & flavor. They use non-dairy creamer. Really good boba consistency - nice chew. I appreciate the way they package the drink with the sleeve, rope, & side sticker. Boba drinks can be so expensive nowadays - this is more on the pricey side but you're truly paying for the quality. While waiting for my drink, I saw that they were giving out a free pin this weekend (25th & 26th) if you order two drinks & follow them on IG. There were two options, really like the one I chose! They offer samples. The sample was the black tea + creamer. They have a sample & water station at the front by the cashier - easy & convenient for you to grab on your own. Compared to my last visit to their Cupertino location (probably 6 months ago?), my order at this location is horible, and for $10 a cup of milk tea? I ordered Ding Dong Oolong Tea but there was barely any taste of tea, it tasted so creamy just mike I was drinking a cup of heavy cream. I ordered a plain Cassia Black tea which was ready within 15 minutes, and thought that the flavor and quality both seem consistent with that of their Cupertino location. Pleasantly surprised to see that there's a Chicha location now in San Jose. This location is a lot smaller than the Cupertino one, with very minimal seating. I asked the girl who then asked Rui , who had to ask a manager only to find out that they don't give out the sticker sheets. *Fyi... Maybe it changed now. But at Cupertino location I got a few sticker sheets before and the last time at Cupertino location they gave me 1. Couldn't give me two so it sounded like one per person on the full sticker sheet over there. Pro- two order kiosks , wait wasn't bad and there's a screen that shows u the status of your drink. One girl took a tray of the free samples and offered to the non Chinese speaking couple at the kiosk. It would have been nice if they just went down the line and asked other customers who were already waiting for the drink if they wanted some too... Idk that's what I would have done. My little sister got me the mango osmanthus oolong tea with boba because I asked her to surprised me and I finally understand the hype. I am a big fan of Chicha San Chen and was so excited to see they opened one closer to me since I would have to drive all the way to Fremont or Cupertino. This location is very small but they have a couple kiosks and cashier to order. You can also order online which is a great option since there is no indoor seating. I got the osmanthus oolong tea with cream and boba. I love the flavor of the tea and the cream compliments it really well, making the sweetness just right. Their boba is really tasty too, but I think their boba-to-tea ratio is off. I always find myself with too much boba at the end. I'd rate this drink 4.5/5 I also got the creamy mango tart and it was so good. The mango flavor is just right, being sweet and sour and balanced by the cream. You can still taste the tea flavor as well. This drink is a 5/5 for me but I would suggest getting less sweet. read more
