I was going to let it go but thought for the cost of a $30 meal in today's world, I want my 4 tenders. So I called the store and spoke with an associate, explaining the situation. I hoped for a partial refund but was offered a voucher for a future meal. Meaning, I would have to return to the store to get the voucher. Well, if I had to return I'd rather just get the forgotten chicken tenders than hold on to a piece of paper that I'd lose in my purse. So back I went, this time through the drive thru. Once I got to the window, I was greeted with an apology, offered a free chocolate cake, 4 HOT- right out of the fryer chicken tenders and a thank you for letting them correct their error. Where I started with annoyance, it ended with me being pleasantly surprised... and with a free cake. And they kept a patron vs someone who would never again. Notes on the meal: classic chicken sandwich might be my next favorite option if Cane's isn't available (like in Little Falls, MN). That and the Comeback Sauce is pretty close to Cane's as well.

I was a little worried when I arrived because the parking lot was packed as was the drive thru. I pulled into the pick up line and was happy to see only one car ahead of me (Unlike the line of people waiting that were ordering at the window). In just moments, the car in front of me was served and I was now the next car that had preordered. I had my window down and was listening as the man running the drive thru was greeting each person by their first name and used their name at least twice as he gave them their food, asked if they had everything they needed, and wished them a great rest of their day as he thanked them for coming by. Each interaction sounded genuine as he made eye contact and made it feel like you were in his driveway and he was serving you something he personally made just for you. He worked quickly and was getting the customers through the line at record speed but not by sacrificing service. He made each person feel seen. My food came out quickly and I was almost disappointed as I had been so amazed watching how expertly he handled each interaction. My salad was great and my dad also enjoyed his. I went back to the office inspired by the guy in the drive thru and consciously thought about how I was interacting with people. Do I just rush through the work or do people know they matter? The daughter wanted the 10 piece bites (mild) with fries and the Powerade slushy. I miss-ordered, this resulting in a large bill. First time error, but shame on me. I ordered 5 Ala Cart extra hot chicken fingers. The final bill was about $85.00!!!! I paid it, and was handed a receipt, and an electronic pager (yes, these still exist!). Seeing as everything is made to order unless you order online ahead of time, I expected a wait since I ordered in person. The Highland location wasn't too busy, so I got my food in about 12 minutes. I requested extra Dave's sauce, and they accommodated with about 6 extra packs at no charge. Just be aware, that sauce packets cost extra, so they did me a solid. Since I got 2 extra orders of fries, I punched a hole in the fry containers with a knife since it would take about 10 minutes to get home. I may have ate "some" of the fries while enroute. Fantastic.
