I've been coming to this Chick-fil-A for years since I live nearby, and overall I've had plenty of good experiences here. The staff is usually friendly, service is quick, and the restaurant is generally well maintained. That said, there was a period where I received undercooked chicken on a couple of separate visits. To be fair, I haven't experienced that issue recently, but it definitely left an impression. As a parent, I now find myself pulling apart my kids' chicken before they eat it just to make sure everything is fully cooked. I continue to visit because the recent experiences have been much better, but food safety is something that sticks with you. I'm hoping those issues are firmly in the past because this location has otherwise been a reliable neighborhood spot for many years. read more

I'm not sure if the management has changed at this location recently, but I'm honestly shocked by all the bad and subpar reviews. My husband and I were driving home from LA and thankfully it wasn't Sunday, because I had a mean hankering for Chick-fil-A. I mapped the closest one to the freeway on our route and landed on this location. Upon arrival in the parking lot we were both impressed by the ample parking spaces, despite it being around lunchtime. The woman at the register (red hair, I think her tag may have said she was the catering manager) was super friendly and funny. Once we placed our order and received our food (took less than 5 minutes), we chose a spot over on the astroturf because it was an incredibly beautiful day. There are two reasons I knocked a star off my review - the barstools at the outside tables on the turf are way too high, my legs nor my husband's weren't even able to fit under the table so we were perched awkwardly on the edge of these stools with our knees at table height. The second reason is that I didn't get one of the sauces I'd requested (and honestly I was too lazy to walk back inside to get it). Aside from that, our fries were hot and crispy, our sandwiches were freshly made and everything tasted great. The worst coffee I ever had at Chickfila. I love Chickfila but this isn't it. How can you mess up coffee. Just make a fresh coffee. That's it. Love this Chick Fil A right next to the San Clemente Outlets! It was super convenient to receive our food! Decided to do dine in and ordered online, so it was like scanning the table we sat at and they brought it right over in a couple minutes! Parking was easy and free, the place was clean and very easy to navigate! Staff was super kind and got me two waters within an instance of standing by the register. On Wednesday 5/13 around 2:30 I took my daughter to this restaurant for lunch. She had the chicken nugget kid's meal. She woke up around 1:30 with extreme vomiting and diarrhea which last about a day and a half. My wife and I nursed her and she felt better. We thought it was a stomach bug since she's seven and she goes to elementary school. On Friday 5/15 I picked her up from school to take her camping. Again we stopped by this restaurant and I had the same meal but a 20 piece nuggets. That night I woke up at 1:30 with the exact same symptoms, diarrhea and vomiting which also lasted about a day and a half. I know there are a lot of variables for getting sick like we did. But the only common denominator was that we both had the same meal and ended up with the same sickness. My wife was exposed to our daughter as much as I was, but she didn't get sick at all. The only conclusion I can come to is that their chicken was contaminated. I'm wondering if anyone else got sick. This is the week of 5/11-5/16. I reported them to the health department already, but I'm not sure how much they are able to investigate. Somehow, I'd never been to a Chick-fil-A before, but this location was huge--lots of space inside and a big parking lot. I was on my way to San Diego and just needed something quick from the drive-thru. They had someone taking orders before the actual menu board, so I wasn't totally sure what to get, but I figured a chicken sandwich was the way to go. Yikes a 2.5 average rating for this Chick-fil-A after 200+ reviews?! Well after my visit, I completely understand why, leading to the ever so important question of "Do I round up or down here?" I recently received a reward for a free chicken sandwich thanks to LAFC (Los Angeles Football Club). In case you're not familiar with this, fans in the Greater LA region can score a free chicken sandwich anytime within the next three days after LAFC wins a home game. Four days if one of those days falls on a Sunday, a Sabbath Day for Chick-fil-A. I wasn't totally sure if San Clemente, the southernmost city in Orange County, would count as the Greater LA area, but I was more than willing to try. There's only one Chick-fil-A in San Clemente, and it's on the outskirts of the Outlets at San Clemente. It's literally the first thing you see as soon as you exit the 5 freeway heading south, but you can't go straight. Instead, you'll have to make a right, and then two immediate lefts. I made a third left so I could park my car by the sidewalk. If you're heading north, you'll have to cross the bridge over the freeway in order to get to this Chick-fil-A. Either way (north or south), you'll want to look for the Avenida Vista Hermosa exit. Brandon was the one who took my order, and he was pretty cool and welcoming at first. However, he completely faltered when I asked him about the sauce that looks like Chick-fil-A sauce, but comes in the smaller sauce packets. He kept insisting that I was talking about the Chick-fil-A sauce even though I said it wasn't the Chick-fil-A sauce and it wasn't in those rectangular tubs. I was flustered enough that I just said "fine" to the Chick-fil-A sauce. This is something I do to get a feel for service at any Chick-fil-A location, and this was sadly the first time where an employee could not catch on to what I meant, even with some tells. This might have been a precursor of what was going to happen next. Keep on reading. In addition to the sandwich, I asked for water. Usually at any other Chick-fil-A, I'd get a styrofoam cup with or without an insulated sleeve, but with a lid on top. However, this was the first time I was given a plastic cup sans lid. I had already said "to go", so it makes me question if they really don't provide lids on drinks to drive-thru customers?? Hopefully not! I had to be careful to not spill any water in my car while driving to my next destination. How long was the wait? No joke, it was ready as soon as I got my receipt! I was so surprised! The employee who handed me my bag seemed pretty cool as well, but neglected to say "My pleasure", a phrase that should be ingrained in every Chick-fil-A team member to the point where they naturally say it after receiving thanks. They have a couple of counters with some other sauce packets, none of which I had asked for in the first place. However, they did have some good old-fashioned mustard and mayo, which you can never go wrong with on any sandwich. And yup, they were definitely much needed after a long day of work that day. After finishing my sandwich, I needed to use the restroom. There's a small hallway in the middle of the dining room that leads to the restrooms, and no joke, I *nearly* collided with not one, but two employees! One on the way in, and one on the way out. Both employees were in a rush and did apologize albeit quite flippantly that I wouldn't be surprised if both of them regarded such near misses as NBD. Like what's the rush guys?? The way these two employees behaved made me think they care more about speed over customer safety. I was nursing a sore knee and ankle from a bad spill I took last week; I don't know if my knee could have taken another one... There were *a lot* of tables inside. No joke, this is probably one of the biggest Chick-fil-A locations I've ever seen in person, and this is just one counterexample of the theory that bigger is better. However, the decor inside from Halloween to the surfboards in the far corner were conducive to a family-friendly atmosphere. If you'd rather dine outside instead, they have a few tables between the front door and the drive-thru entrance. Parking in front of the restaurant is commensurate with the capacity of the restaurant's interior. Even in a packed house during peak hours, I can't see anybody having difficulty finding an open spot here. Overall, it was a decent chicken sandwich, especially for (literally, no less) fast food. However, service definitely needs improvement. Difficult to decide between 2 or 3 stars as I would have given a solid 5 stars if ratings on this review platform were out of 10 instead of 5 stars. However, I think it'd be a nice place to stop by for a chicken sandwich after a long day of shopping at the Outlets. For me, I'm more likely to stop by another Chick-fil-A just off the 5 in another Orange County city that also starts with San. If you're not sure where that is, it's the next closest location to here. read more

I'm really upset with my experience today. I ordered a Deluxe Meal, a Spicy Deluxe Meal, a salad with nuggets, and a Mac & Cheese. They forgot both the nuggets and the Mac & Cheese. I paid for a full order and didn't get everything I bought. This is not the level of service I expect from Chick-fil-A. It's frustrating to spend money and drive home just to find your order is incomplete. I hope this gets addressed, because this was disappointing. read more

I don't understand the low star reviews for this location...it's fast food! I enjoy this location because of the spacious parking lot, drive through, larger inside and the patio. They have plenty of seating inside and out. The drive through is fast and all the employees are kind and helpful. I don't have crazy high expectations as the majority of people working here are young and it may even be their first job. If they get your order wrong, they will always remake it. I just choose to remember everyone is trying their best. I appreciate that this location is also very clean and remember that kindness goes a long way. This Chick-Fil-A is located at the Outlets of San Clemente area right off the Ave Hermosa exit off the 5 Fwy. It's just like any of the other locations in majority of the way. I was in a rush and had to get a quick bite to eat but I was better off going to a sit down as it took about 15 mins for them to help and take 4 total orders. To be fair one guest took a while but at 8pm at night the staff was more focused on socializing with each other than helping the one lady take orders as she was doing her best. The manager and the other 4-5 staff members were just huddled up gossiping loud enough for everyone to know the entire details since they were right in front of expo area. I finally ordered the Chick-Fil-A Chicken Combo and sat down at the table and wiped it myself. Food was fine and consistent. Ok so not for me, however if you're in a pinch and you don't mind dry lukewarm food, this place can fill a void. A more scaled up ambiance compared to other fast food restaurants. Nicely tucked away from the bustle of the freeway and yet such a convenient and peaceful stop for some heading up to LA or SD. Also open before 10am when most fast food places are still closed. So I thought this great! It's on my way home from work when I got off early at 9am. My other options I considered was a toasted deluxe turkey Sprouts sandwich with avocado for $7.99 and enjoy my sandwich at the Bluffs or dine in for a bourbon bacon burger from Denny's for $15.79. Too my disappointment I chose the Spicy Deluxe Sandwich for $9.60. Well thanks Chick for making my decision making easier. Mediocre at best. Amusement park food. Overpriced and meh. Sandwich came to me extremely dry which I know some people like, but not me, I like my sandwich saucy and dripping with goodness. The sandwich was lukewarm as well. I deconstructed the sandwich to give it some much needed sauce. I got a ranch and buffalo sauce. Even the lettuce and tomatoes were dry so I hit it regretfully with the buffalo sauce. Drive through menu board wasn't working so we had to order at the window. I have school Saturday mornings and have to be there by 8:37 no exceptions whatsoever. By the time I got out my eta to school was 8:40. I was so upset, ruined my whole day. If your drive thru speaker isn't working, send out someone to take orders outside. I literally waited 25 minutes just to order. The only sign was the one on the menu board, they should have put one as you enter the drive through so you don't get stuck in there. read more

New (to me) is the sleeve that goes over drink cup for extra insulation. Not sure how well it worked as it was warm out and my ice melted pretty quickly. Many sauce choices. I like the Buffalo and or the BBQ sauce. Others are ranch, Polynesian, sweet sriracha, honey mustard and of course Chick-Fil-A sauce. Very clean always. Made a quick pit stop at this location on my way to LA. I ordered 12 count grilled nuggets. The food took a while, even though there was little to no people ordering. They must have been backed up from the drive through. This establishment was very clean, but the bathrooms ran out of hand towels. This is by far the worst Chick-fil-A I've been to. I come here weekly because it is close to my work and I'm not even exaggerating.....my order is wrong EVERY TIME. Ask for extra pickles on my sandwich? Get none. Ask for 2 buffalo sauces? Get 1 buffalo, 1 chick-fil-a sauce. Order an ice cream cone only through the app? Wait 10 minutes and get an extremely stale cone. Ask for no tomatoes on my salad? Get extra tomatoes. Lucky for me I eat in my car in the parking lot, so as soon as I park and notice my order is wrong I can just walk inside, but I would be extra pissed off I drove off missing stuff or had an incorrect order like other people mentioned. The restaurant was clean with ample parking and a well thought out drive thru that wouldn't interfere with the parking aisle when it was busy. There was a dedicated staff member cleaning tables and sweeping trash up in the dining area for the entire duration we were here. We ordered and no sooner had I found a table than my order was ready - extremely quick service. The order was accurate and there were zero issues. The staff were friendly and provided great service. This is a Chick-Fil-A location that I've stopped along the way to and from Baja. This particular location is found in the southern end of the OC. It sits on a sizable lot, and has great surroundings. I hit up the drive-thru when I came here. I got their spicy chicken deluxe sandwich. Instead of the fries, I got their yogurt, and an iced tea. The chicken sandwich was great, it was as expected. The yogurt, however, was pretty bad. It was way over-sugared, and I prefer fries over a diabetes bomb. Although there are other, actually healthy, options to chose from. The tea was refreshing, and it's pretty hard to screw that one up. The staff members here were nice. They got the drive-thru line going at a steady pace, and I had to wait less than 15 minutes to get my food. This chick fil a has two lines for drive thru ordering but then merges to one once you're done placing your order. I usually order mine through the mobile app to keep the line moving. I wish they had a separate drive thru line for mobile orders. However, the line does go by quickly so waiting isn't ever an issue. I've never had an issue of them forgetting my food.
