My husband and I were staying the weekend in broken arrow and whole out driving around looking for a fun place to have dinner we stumbled upon this wonderful gem. We actually found the food hall first (mother road market) and inside was chicken and the wolf. We both orders the chicken tender. I got mine kind and my husband did spicy. The chicken was perfectly cooked and so juicy and fresh tasty. They also proud a sauce with them that was so tasty. We will go back if we are in the area again. read more

Yum! Vegan chicken sandwich was so good. Pickle lemonade was excellent too. Careful with the spice though, Medium was pretty fiery but I was warned so I expected as much. Generally I consider myself to have a decent spice tolerance, Medium is my upper limit here. Hurt so good! read more

The vegan fried chicken sammie is delicious. It is a seitan affair and they do it up right. The wife is a mild spice lady (in the 'born to be mild' sense as well) while I am an XXX-tra hot person who will still slather more cayenne on whatever. We both thoroughly enjoyed our sandwiches. The medium spicy level was not too much for wifey but it was almost too much. The mild is her Goldilocks level. The Xtra spicy, or whatever they call the 'as hot as you can make it' was spicy but not painful or too much, for me. It was delicious. We've been a few times now and we are already looking forward to our next trip. read more

I ordered the Nashville chicken sandwich (mild) with fries. The sandwich wasn't as bad as other Yelpers have been saying! I thought there was good amount of breading and the chicken breast size wasn't bad. It was greasy, though - be prepared for oil to be running down your hand. And beware - the mild is still pretty spicy. The fries were bleh. Cold and soggy. I wish they gave as much attention to the fries as they did the sandwich. I went at around noon on a Saturday and waited about 25 total (in line and getting my food). read more

i've been trying to check this place out ever since they were serving at buck atom's. while a lot of spots were going the nashville hot chicken route, i wouldn't check it out unless a local spot was serving it. with them being placed inside mother road market, it made it even easier for me to check them out. at the time i went, i was starving & knowing how my stomach acts with spicy food on an empty stomach, i played it "safe" & got the nashville with the mild heat level. their mild compared to your average, is spicy & has a little kick to it. as the heat wasn't overbearing/doesn't linger, the slaw, sauce & pickles would do any kind of cool-down to any heat level you choose. i was informed the pieces of chicken are so big b/c most of it is breading with little meat, that let me second guess whether to order a sandwich or not. with my order, my piece of chicken had plenty of meat. i had the comeback sauce as well, the sandwich all-around was good. my side was fries, the seasoning they use was good. i should've ordered an extra side of comeback sauce for it. next time, i'm definitely going for a different heat level (was aiming for medium or hot to begin with before my hunger was in overdrive). i also might try the vegan option (something i also aimed for to begin with) next time as well. it's also worth noting that for as long as the line was when i was there, the wait to order/for the food to come out wasn't long at all. read more

I'm just happy they have a vegan option! I used to love hot chicken sandwiches so this was a great substitute. It was CRISPY, really flavorful, the mild was just spicy enough, and the patty wasn't overly breaded. It wasn't greasy at all. The fries had a little kick to them, I liked them but they weren't anything special. I could eat the sandwich everyday though. It was crowded and we did have to wait several minutes for the vegan, but we weren't bothered. I found my meal worth the wait. One bad thing - they were out of ketchup at the time. But they offered free sides of sauce to make up for it. read more

Listen, this is a tough review to write. I'm not from Tulsa, and we made a special trip from OKC to try this out. I've been following Chicken and the Wolf on Instagram for a while now and the food is always so insanely drool worthy on their social media pages. The price is absolutely reasonable. I think the total with tax was something like $13 for 3 chicken tenders atop a thick slice of bread, plus cheese fries. This meal was easily split between two semi-hungry people with some leftovers. But I'm thinking the reason it was so easy to split was because it was an incredibly heavy meal. The food was presented BEAUTIFULLY. I love their branding, their style is distinctive, simple, and modern. The meal was so incredibly inviting (see my first photo). Let's start with the positives. The fries are a delight. Incredibly delicious, the cheese sauce stayed nice and melty, and the comeback sauce tasted like a pickle free kickier version of old fashioned burger sauce. The flavor on the tenders was great. The problem was really that as soon as you bit into them, the breading just crumbled and fell right off. It was CRISPY, to be sure. But it was so thick that, and I'm just guessing here, the oil temp isn't hot enough to simultaneously stay light and crisp while also cooking the breading fully. The result is an extremely crunchy greasy breading that falls right off if you look at it wrong (see pictures 2 and 3). The solution ended up being to just allow the breading to fall off, then add it back with a fork. The silver lining here is that the chicken inside was juicy and tender, very well seasoned. TL;DR Chicken and the wolf has some serious fries. Fine tune that breading and they will knock that chicken out of the park too. read more

This place is amazing. I've had a couple of the heat levels, and they are all uniquely different. I love the salad box with the chicken. One thing I would change is their bun, it's great however, there's too much of it when your chicken is also breaded. read more

The fries were honestly kind of "blah", and the wings had way too much breading. BUT -- the chicken sandwich is well worth a visit! I will return! read more

Be prepared to wait in line a while to order. The OG is the real deal. The huge chicken breast is fried to perfection. Nice and crispy on the outside and tender and juicy on the inside. The bun was heated and toasty. Small portion of fries, but the meal was delicious. read more

I've been to Mother Road Market twice now specifically so I could have the Nashville Hot Chicken from C&TW. And I've been blown away twice. I can't speak for the other items on their menu, but if I had to gauge their other options based off of having their chicken sandwich twice, then everything else must be just as good. First off, you get a large chunk of chicken, along with some delicious coleslaw, pickles, some awesome sauce (literally) all on a soft brioche bun. Secondly, you have an awesome crunch and a juicy bird. Thirdly, you enter the gates of heaven once you've eaten it all. When it comes to heat levels I always go for X-Hot because you ALWAYS go extra with Nashville Hot Chicken. What is even the point if you don't? And this sandwich BRINGS the HEAT! So damn good & highly recommended! read more

I loved chicken and the wolf. One of the best chicken sandwiches I've even had! The bun was soft and the chicken was crispy which made for an overall great sandwich. You can also pick the spice level which is nice. I tried the fries with comeback sauce. Didn't know that they were spicy so that was a bit of a surprise at first but I loved the fries and the sauce they came with. read more

Hot chicken has made its way to Tulsa! Being a Tennessee native, I was excited to stop by and check this place out. I opted for a medium Nashville sandwich. I would have gone with hot, but I was sharing. I'd say medium is great if you like spicy food, but aren't sure what hot chicken is all about. The breading was super crunchy, maybe a bit thick, but the chicken breast was pretty thick (and very juicy), too, so it was fine. I would have liked more slaw on it. The bun was soft, but still able to hold up to the sauce. The sauce was great. It had depth and it left my lips tingling afterward. I chose fries as a side, and they left a little bit to be desired. However, they did have a seasoning on them that made you wanna go back for more. (And I gotta say, some of these reviews make it seem people aren't quite sure what it is. Hot chicken is dipped in a spiced oil just before serving. That is a quintessential step in making hot chicken. I feel like a lot of the "greasy" comments were made about this, specifically.) read more

The spice levels here are NO JOKE. I am not a total baby when it comes to spice, but I get mine with no spice because even the mild version is a little too much for me. Their pickles do not really help break up the spice lol. I have tried bites of my husband's chicken sandwiches before (watching him break out into a sweat, and having his face go totally red, cracks me up), but last time I went for the vegan chicken sandwich. Not the absolute best vegan "chicken" I have ever had (needed more seasoning), but the crust was crispy and the flavor was decent. And the bun is amazing. I am not vegan, but I walk on the vegan side every once in awhile - I enjoyed my sandwich enough to finish it, so take that however you want. Didn't wait long on our last visit, but if you're in a hurry I suggest calling in your order ahead of time. read more

Enjoyed an amazing OG Nashville (style) hot chicken sandwich today at Chicken and the Wolf, located in Mother Road Market. The staff warned me when I ordered it "hot" that there would be no refunds if I ordered a sandwich beyond my spice tolerance. I'm Korean, so spicy foods are my jam. This sandwich delivered the exact amount of heat I anticipated. The heat builds with each bite but was balanced by the comeback sauce, lettuce and pickles. The chicken was perfectly fried- lots of crunch and juicy on the inside. The brioche bun holds up well and doesn't disintegrate like most buns when faced with sauce and toppings. The only downside was the side of fries. Wish they had better texture and flavor. Overall, this is one of the best chicken sandwiches I've ever had- and next time I'm visiting Tulsa, I'd definitely go out of my way to eat this again. Until next year... read more

The creators of Lone Wolf bring their interpretation of Nashville hot chicken to Mother Road Market along the historic Route 66. A traditional order gets you 1 leg and 1 thigh, plus bread, pickles, and 1 side. You could also do 3 whole wings or 3 tenders. Breast pieces appear to be used exclusively in the sandwiches. Additional wings or tenders are $3 apiece, with no pricing available for legs or thighs. Heat comes in 5 levels: none (original), mild, medium, hot, and extra hot. I recommend going with mild as it provides a kick of flavor to the chicken without setting your taste buds ablaze and sending your sweat glands into overdrive. I prefer my chicken sandwiched between a bun, so I opt for the sandwich. It's a gigantic chicken breast that's deep fried 'til it's extra crispy and golden brown. It comes with some coleslaw, slices of pickles and your choice of their comeback (spicy mayo) or lemon dill sauce. Additional sauce on the side is $0.59. The bun is a buttered brioche that does an adequate job at absorbing all the juices and oils from the chicken. There's a lot of batter used on the chicken, and I found myself peeling chunks of it off to get to the chicken. It's also a touch on the greasy side, but maybe that's because of the sauce added to give it your desired spice level. All the chicken is antibiotic and hormone free. The chicken is piping hot and extremely juicy. The sandwich is absolutely massive and will create a bit of a mess, so it's very thoughtful of them to provide a moist towelette for you to wipe your hands after you've finished feeding your inner wolf. Salads are also offered, but they're a bit of a disappointment. You're better off sticking with a sandwich or a traditional order of chicken. If you feel like paying to help advertise for them, they'll sell you a fairly soft t-shirt for $20. Service is friendly, but since the chicken is made to order in a small kitchen, it can be a bit of a wait until your order is completed. read more

Recent visit to Tulsa a local friend recommended we try this place and check out Mother Road Market - and it was a great recommendation! Mother Road Market is very popular so parking was a challenge but not impossible. The line to Chicken and the wolf was the longest but it moved fast. The person taking orders was VERY helpful and suggested that event the mild was kind of hot, which it was! The order arrived pretty quickly and the food was delicious. I will definitely return to Mother Road Market if I'm every back in Tulsa and it will be hard to pick another food vendor over the chicken - it's that good. Highly recommend read more

One of my favorite places to eat at Mother Road Market. I love their coleslaw and chicken of all varieties. The biggest debate is the hot sauce. The first time I ordered medium and they kindly asked if I'd had it before to try and warn me. I like my food spicy so I said bring it on, medium was just a starting/test point.Honestly I didn't think the medium was very hot. It was tasty and I liked it, but not that hot. This place had the longest line at Mother Road Market and for good reason. The wait itself to order wasn't so bad, maybe about 10 minutes and then another 3 before my food was ready for pick up. Options are limited for a reason. You can get plate with a leg and a thigh, a plate with 3 full wings or a plate with 3 tenders. There are also 3 sandwich options. The 3 sides are french fries, potato salad and cole slaw. I was hestitant in paying $10 for 3 chicken tenders because I wasn't sure if this was going to be a food truck portion at food truck prices. I shouldn't have been worried, since these things were massive. Perfectly fried and perfect batter/crust ratio to meat. I went with mild level spice, which had enough kick. I maybe could have gone up to medium, but after that I don't think I would be able to handle it...and I do like spicy foods. The pickles I thought were okay, but needed more vinegar and weren't as "pickly" as I wanted and needed. There are two sauce options, each at $.50 extra. One is there take on cain's sauce and the other is a lemon dill. They didn't add much to the experience and I would go without them, the next time I'm there. read more

Great lunch today! We came here for a little going away lunch for one of my co workers. We heard this place was good and I think it lived up to it. I ordered the wing plate which came with 3 huge whole chicken wings on a piece of bread and choice of side. I got fries. DISCLAIMER: WHEN THEY SAY HOT IT MEANS HOT! You can order 4 spicy level options for your chicken. Normal, medium, hot or extra hot. Every place I've eaten and a restaurant says 'hot" it's usually the perfect spicy level. This was a little more than I expected. Enough to get me sweat. Otherwise, great lunch. Chicken has a very nice crispy breading on it and the fries were good, especially dipped in their sauce. I hope to make it back soon. read more

Thought we would try this new place since we've been to Howlin' Ray's out in Los Angeles and they will blow your mind. I'm guessing these guys have never heard of first impressions before, the guy that was the cashier was rude as hell, not only to us but to a guy simply asking where the trash cans were. The chicken sandwich was good but way too much crunchy breading and loaded with grease, not juice, grease. We definitely won't be back. read more

Fantastic! Great chicken strips at different degrees of hotness! Great and fast service at the small corner food court vendor! Staff was helpful in explaining heat and they also have no heat! So everyone needs to be warned, this chicken is HOT. Rumor has it that at Cookie Monster they've begun selling milk to people desperately seeking relief after getting in over their head with a chicken sandwich. For a frame of reference, on the hotness scale I'm Pretty consistently a 4 out of 5 guy (at hot wing joints I usually get hot). Well at Chicken and the Wolf I get medium, and that's usually pushing it. Don't feel embarrassed to go with mild your first time, it's still very spicy. Or you can get completely unspicy if you want to play it totally safe. Second warning, it gets crowded. Mother Road has proved wildly successful. That's a really good thing for Tulsa and the prospect of getting more new and interesting businesses. What bad for us is crowds and lines. The Chicken and the Wolf is easily the most popular place at the already crowded Mother Road. This means some long waits, especially at lunch. Also though, since this is a new place and they are pretty green they will occasionally run out of food or just close at times when they should normally be open. I'm confident they'll get all this under control, but if you come by and they're closed unexpectedly, just go to any of the other delicious places Mother Road offers. So the food is very very good. The chicken has a lot of crunchy breading on it. The sauces are a delicious way to add some variety to what you get. Oh, and even the fries are spicy and delicious. I'm so grateful for the vegan chicken option. It's even foiled some of my friends who thought I was cheating by eating meat. Nice try. I'd recommend trying to come at an off time the first time, so you don't risk waiting forever then being disappointed, but you gotta come check it out. read more

I've heard so many great things about Chicken and the Wolf and was super excited to try their vegan options. . The Restaurant is in Mother Road Market which is a food hall with several different restaurants. You name it, they probably have it. My family and I visited Chicken and the Wolf and each had our own chicken sandwich but mine was vegan chicken. It was sooooo delicious and perfectly crisp. Great customer service! read more

This is some of the best chicken I've ever had. I was finally able to score some last week. I ordered the original tenders with fries. I picked up a vanilla creamer soda to go with it. The chicken was plentiful and delicious! It was still a bit spicy even though it was supposed to be without heat. The fries were amazing, some of the best I've had. I will have the kids meal next time though. The tenders were huge! There was enough for two meals! I definitely got my money's worth and will be back! read more

I waited an hour for one medium Carolina hot chicken sandwich with a side of fries (1 side is included). The fries are worthless after they cool down, so be warned. The portion of potato salad or coleslaw comes in a little sample paper cup, so the sides are just not not worth the extra $2. The chicken sandwich was decent and did have a terrific crunch, but there was hardly any coleslaw or pickles on it. And be warned the medium is HOT, not for the faint of Spicey hearts. It's not something I would ever wait that long for again or in the first place if I had known. When I finally picked up my sandwich, the girl handing out food gave me attitude when I asked for the "mac" sauce, which FYI is just mayo and ketchup mixed together. She acted like I was ignorant, then informed me it would be 50 cents extra. I paid it even though I feel like they could have given it to me for waiting that long for a sandwich. Bottom line, don't wait in the long line for this chicken.Try one of the other booths. Another issue that grossed me out was the huge beard one of the cooks had. He had no hair net on. I could just picture the beard hair dropping in the food. read more

Absolutely delicious chicken sandwich. I love spicy chicken sandwiches, and I thought the medium was just right: spicy, but not so much that it overwhelms the chicken. The chicken itself was nice and crispy, and the patty size is generous. Rounding out the sandwich are a fluffy brioche bun, cool lettuce, dill pickles (thinly sliced), and an excellent lemon dill aioli. Hungry yet? This is one great sandwich! The fries were only ok, but the chicken sandwich more than makes up for it. I was also impressed by their smooth, COVID-safe, no-contact service: just drive your car to Mother Road Market, and after a text, they'll be ready with your meal. Can't wait to go back. read more

I have eaten at Hattie B's in Nashville. There's a certain air to eating hot chicken in Nashville that no other restaurant can emulate. Chicken and the Wolf however gets as close to hot chicken as you can find in Nashville without going to Music City. The HOT is HOT. It has a delicate texture that can only come with freshly battered and fried chicken. It's smothered in a dry seasoning of ungodly spices culminating into this cacophony of heat that would rival Dante's Inferno. In short: bring them your business! read more

It was welcoming, and it was warm in a multitude of ways. The coolest part about the experience is that you can just order from the table using a QR code and it just comes right to you without there having to be a lot of back-and-forth on the menu choices and making decision before waiter. Lots of flavors, wet or with dry rub. I got 3 flavors worth on a 30 piece order and all of the flavors popped. Only had to pitch one wing that was more feathers than meat. While I was ordering I noticed the ribs. I'd never had a deep fried rib and quite frankly didn"t see how it wasn't going to come out dry and over done. Man was I wrong. Added the rib plate for 10.99 to my chicken order more as an experiment than anything else. Those ribs were so tender and juicy and well seasoned I about wrecked my truck while eating one. Never had those type of ribs before but now I'm not sure how I can go back to eating them the old way. Long story short, wings are excellent but don't sleep on the phenomenal deep fried ribs from this guy. Follow him on Facebook for times and places. Yelp mobile app always has hours as "closed" because apparently it's not capable of understanding the word "varies" like "hours varies". Make the trip, find out for yourself and enjoy those crack ribs the man sells!

I went with a wine flight and my friend went with a mimosa. After that we both needed to do a mocktail as we were driving. We tried an orange fizz and a pomegranate fizz. Both were good (and maybe even better than the real cocktail). We also got bread service. I would certainly try this again. It was a great quiet place if you are looking for a more low-key happy hour.
