I had only been to Bill and Ruth's one or two times before, and was excited when I learned they were opening this new location. It had been a while since I had been here, so I honestly didn't remember much about it, so coming to this location was extra cool. It was obviously very clean because it's still so new. The staff was a bit all over the place, but I'm hoping that they will get more attentive with more practice the longer this place is open. It's just that we ordered and then were left standing there confused with what to do next (and despite having about 10 people working back there, there was no one at the register for us to pay, and we didn't know if we should wait up there for our food or grab a table). No one really helped us out much, but again, I'm pretty positive they'll get into the swing of things once they've been opened longer. I came for dinner on short notice, and since I had a sandwich for lunch I decided to order something else from the menu, even though I think the sandwiches are kind of their main deal. If I knew I would come here for dinner I would have had something else for lunch, but oh well! The frito chili pie sounded good, so I ordered that with everything on it (cheese, onions, and jalapeños). I really enjoyed the jalapeños in it! Surprisingly enough, as much as I love spicy food and adding extra spice to my meals, I don't think I've ever had jalapeños in my chili before. Big thanks to Bill and Ruth's for opening my eyes to this delicious flavor combo!!! What would have made it even better is if the jalapeños were cut more into chunks rather than slices. The chili itself was also good, with a pretty standard flavor. I wish there was more of the chili though, just because it seemed like there were more of the chips than the chili and I just tend to like it with less fritos anyway. However, I can't knock it down too much for that because I have to remember that FRITO chili pie is different from just CHILI (with some fritos), so on some level I get it. Maybe a good plan is for me to ask for the chips on the side next time. Even though I wanted more chili, it was more of a ratio issue than a portion issue. In fact, the chili came in a much bigger bowl than I expected. I got pretty close, but didn't quite finish it all even. The same thing goes with the portions of everything else that people I was with ordered too. This probably wouldn't always be my first choice, but I wouldn't mind coming back again. I'd definitely like to give one of their sandwiches a shot at least!

I was deciding between MisFits & another location so I texted a friend to make the final decision. Long story short, she chose MisFits & we met around 1pm. From what I've been recommended, my/our experience was pretty aligned with what I had heard. Random summer Thursday. Perfect for a good lunch. I was familiar with where MisFits was but never walked inside. Considering that other downtown locations either are on a one-way street, are in busier areas or have less parking availability, the location is relatively convenient. I parked right in front of the restaurant & entered an enamoring space. The entrance leads into a hallway with the host toward the end. Once past the "host hall," the interior is 80% modern, 20% retro. Filled with booths, clear lanes and a good mix of seating options. The lighting is perfectly balanced with large windows for natural light to be let in with other fixtures filling the gaps. We sat in the large "L" shaped booth & our server was with us almost immediately (there were only 2 other tables sat at the time). Of all the menus I've observed, MisFits may have the most efficient offerings ever. There's not tons of variety but it didn't feel limited either. Classic American Favorites, Only. While our server was wrapping up with the other 2 tables, I reluctantly decided on the 1/2 Sandwich (The Wifey) 1/2 Soup (Rotisserie Chicken Tortilla Soup) with Sweet Potato Fries while my friend ordered the B.B. Burger & normal fries. The food came out relatively quickly, less than 10mins after placing the order. The chicken sandwich was good but I was more surprised at how hearty & flavorful the soup was! It made me want to order a full order of nachos. My friend stated that her burger was good except the bacon was thicker & chewier than she would have liked (but she's picky). We conversed for another 20-30mins afterwards but I think we were both satisfied with our meals. Overall, I believe that MisFits has almost the perfect name: it's located downtown but still seems to be one of the more underrated restaurants in the district. If you want above-average American food & don't want to pay above average prices, this is the place to go. I'd be happy to revisit in the evening to see the full luminary experience.

My husband and I initially joined a line at the front, but a kind worker came and told us all that the line actually begins in the back as they open the back door for customers ordering. So, we all walked around and waited patiently until the doors opened at 11am. We were about number 10 in line and were able to order their famous sandwich before it sold out! The Picanha sandwich is probably one of the best sandwiches we've ever had! It comes with steak fries, which were also very tasty! It's perfect to share because the portions are plentiful and it's very filling. We also ordered one of the chicken pastels to share. Everything was wonderful! If you haven't tried this place out, I highly recommend trying it out!

Since I wasn't there on a Thursday to try the famous sandwich, I got a chicken pastel. It was a pretty short wait and it was fried fresh and delicious. I had corn and jalapeños added to mine. I should have added all of the add ins available. The filling is creamy and good. The interior of the building is beautiful bright and airy. Next time, I'm getting a Thursday sandwich. And my only complaint is the tiny chimichurri sauce that comes with it. I definitely should have ordered more because it's delicious! I could have used another couple because the Pastel is big! You can definitely share it. But I love how creative and authentic the vibes are. Doctor Kustom himself was there when I was there, and he's so nice. Congrats to him on the incredible awards.

I ordered the Hunter, which comes with Rabbi's Pastrami, Russian Dressing, Swiss Cheese, and Sauerkraut. Typically this comes on Rye bread, but they'd run out by the time I got there. The Housemade Club was a fine replacement though! This sandwich was so good. The sauerkraut was a 10/10 and the house cured pastrami was extremely flavorful and filling. The sandwich options come in both 6oz and 12oz. I personally think the 6oz was more than enough! Each order comes with a pickle and chips. I ate half of my sandwich right away (amazing) and then half a little later. The pastrami and saurkraut are so juicy that it did make an impact on the bottom piece of bread, BUT I still ate every bite and would still highly recommend. Just keep in mind that it is best when eating soon after you've gotten your food! Either way, you'll need some napkins close at hand.

Kinda hard being a first visit. Went for brunch with daughter. It is exactly as others (Yelp,…read moreGoogle) have reviewed. It is strictly serve yourself. For us it took a bit to get use to even in the smallish area. It's arranged in a sort of circle -- staff and food in the middle and you walk around it, getting drinks, napkins, silverware, etc. The staff seemed nice enough, opposing other reviews. They gave us menus that we took to a table to look over. It was quite small. I didn't see pastry offerings, but it was our first visit. I want to see signs -- What it is & how much$. I hate it when grocery stores can't get their signage in line with their pricing. Honestly, I don't recall which sandwiches we ordered but we both had their house cured meat. She liked it, I didn't care for it. To me it was like Sunday beef roast on a sandwich. The little shopping area is really cute. We didn't have time that day to poke around. I hope this helps you navigate your visit. It's always a good idea to know what you're getting into. We'll go back, with better knowledge.
