I really wanted to like this joint but the food was not that good to me. The chicken was Incased in a fried shell rather than breaded to the chicken. The sauce on the chicken had a ton of paprika which caked my mouth when biting into the chicken. The chicken was really greasy and soaked up in the bun. I really want to love this place. On a business trip in Salt Lake City, my wife and ate at the amazing "Pretty Bird", which is pretty much the same concept as Chicken and the Wolf: minimalistic location, serving hot chicken sandwiches topped with slaw, pickles and a magical sauce + fries. At the time I claimed it was the best thing I had ever eaten, I made that same claim later when I ate the kimchi fries at Lone Wolf. My advice to management: change from a chicken breast to a boneless thigh, (that's what Pretty Bird used) it might help with the issues of over-cooked dry chicken that I experienced, and what I've seen others complain about in other reviews. This was my first visit. I came for the Chicken Sandwich and it was fantastic. A 5+. However, the fries, service, and confusing menu were really bad. The fries were the worst I have ever had anywhere. When looking at the menu the sauces are under the sides. I had no idea my sandwich waa going to get sauce. I thought the comeback sauce was for my fries. Both the person who took my order and the person who gave me my order were very short and rude. This easily could have been a 5 star experience if the rest had been halfway ok. Their Stubborn fountain drinks are super. Parking at Mother Road is horrible and it wasn't even busy. read more

Be aware, the medium was pretty hot. I can't imagine how hot the hot would be. The tenders were incredible. The choices for sauce were comeback and dill. I was told they were both mayonnaise-based. I got the dill and it was perfect for the spicy chicken. My lips were tingling for an hour afterwards. I got potato salad with it and it was great. Located inside Mother Road Market, this chicken joint is based off the ever popular Lone Wolf Banh Mi Asian fusion restaurant. Despite going during their opening weekend and waiting in a huge line due to its popularity, our food came out within a reasonable amount of time. We had their extra hot Nashville chicken sandwich with coleslaw, and boy was it fiery spicy, a lot hotter than I expected, but it was a pleasant surprise. I think even the mild sauce would have sufficed if you're not a big spicy food fan. If you enjoy fried chicken, this is definitely the place to try it out! read more

Looooove it!! Chicken tender are huge!! And the spice is crazy spicy but delicious and their comeback sauce is my favorite.

I'll start out by saying my husband and I absolutely LOVE Chicken and the Wolf, we have brought tons of people there to try it. I am sensitive to heat, and sometimes I get the Extra Mild, if I want a little spice. My problem is, they have zero consistency when it comes to their spice levels, sometimes I get Extra Mild and it's just a little spicy and sometimes I get Extra Mild and it's equal to the Mild or even the Hot Spice level and I can't even eat my food. My husband always gets Mild, and sometimes our chicken tastes the same. I never know how to order the spice level I want. If you are going to be expensive, and not offer refunds for the chicken being too spicy, then you need to be more consistent with the spice levels. read more

Highly recommend this place for a great sandwich! I love spicy food but I would recommend going down a notch on spice here. I usually get the hottest wings everywhere and here I go with the "medium". I got the medium chicken sandwich with fries and extra comeback sauce on the side. I wouldn't have wanted it any spicier but it was perfect too. First off, I really hate to give a bad review as we try to frequent this place as much as possible. We are also very tolerant people, and almost never think badly about an establishment, especially in these COVID times when we have stopped cooking in and making every attempt to eat local and support small business in our neighborhood. This review is not on the food itself, rather the poor customer service. Placed an online order to be picked up, arrived a little earlier than my pickup time. Had to park at the end of the building as my truck would not allow anyone to pass if I park in the numbered spots (I told them this when I arrived). Waited for 25 minutes and still had not received my order. Called them again and they told me they accidentally gave my order to somebody else, and would have to remake it. Food was finally brought out to me about 40 minutes past the scheduled pick-up time. I called and spoke with a manager to see if they could do ANYTHING AT ALL to remedy the late order. He said unfortunately not. I mean anything would have satisfied us. He insisted that they would not do anything for the late order, and he put the blame on me saying that I "should park in a better spot next time". This is very unfortunate, as we try to frequent here often. Our bill was $23. Even just making it right by refunding our bill, 1/2 off, 25% off, or even just 5% off next time would have been fine. Anything would have worked to show that they cared at all. Instead they insisted on doing nothing. Unfortunately, we will not be coming here anymore even though we live down the street. Just think, we could have easily made the same order 10 more times in the next 2 months, which would have totaled to around $230 that they would have made from us. This is why poor customer service does not pay off. read more

Dont like this place at all, terrible service. Waited in line for lord knows how long, then when it was my time to order i recognized that the chicken was all precooked as if it was cooked before they opened. Service was slow because the guy with the long beard was back there fooling around not working. Ok we've been here 3 times so I figured it's time for a review. It's still a new joint and I believe they have some things to work on. Their chicken is breaded SO THICK, like 20% of the chicken is just breading. The breading is separated from the meat and just starts falling apart on the tray. Also their spice rating is not very consistent. I ordered hot all three times and the spicy-ness varied from each three meals. Their fries were also slightly soggy, but I guess they're not really the stars of the show. In addition, they also run out of dishes/cuts of meat fairly often, it's best to come at the prime eating hours, however be prepared for a long wait. We had the wings, tenders, and chicken sandwich. The wings and tenders come on their own with a side. They appear to be large portions but like I said earlier, lots of breading as well. Although the spicy-ness varied, their flavor was spot on. Only complaint on the wings is that when the breading starts falling off, the skin is just kinda slimy, like it wasn't really fried long enough. Oil was probably too hot which caused the breading to cook too fast before really making the skin crispy. Their chicken sandwich is their best offering. The chicken cutlet itself is huge, despite the breading, all the sauces and coleslaw meld together beautifully. It's a messy sandwich and I advise lotsa napkins. Drinks are ok, the place uses the "Mother Road" soda machines and water stations which can be hit or miss. Sometimes they're out of syrup and for our visits all water stations were empty with no water glasses available. It's an easy fix to flag down somebody to fill the water jug back up or stop by the bar and ask for a glass, but it's still annoying. Overall for a new and Tulsa's only Nashville hot chicken spot I would still recommend. read more

I've been a huge fan of Lone Wolf for years now (my favorite restaurant in Tulsa) - I was hyped when they announced they'd be putting in a new concept in Mother Road Market. It was definitely a waiting game as I anticipated them opening - but it was entirely worth the wait (and so is waiting in line to order). I've now eaten at Chicken and the Wolf several times. My first time was on opening night - one of the busiest times I've ever seen MRM (I live in the adjacent neighborhood so I drive by MRM every day). I waited for about 30 minutes in line and they were running out of things by the time I was able to order - completely understandable on Day 1. At the recommendation of one of the ladies working who said that bone-in would be ready quicker than tenders, I ordered bone-in (leg & thigh) in "Hot". I'm not a huge bone-in chicken fan, but it was pretty good! I was just glad to be eating it. The "Hot" level was VERY hot, but I had anticipated it would be. They do a good job of making sure you know that "Hot" is HOT, and that really most people shouldn't order past "Medium". Despite my eyes watering uncontrollably and my nose leaking like a faucet, I loved it and couldn't wait to go back. My return trip (and subsequent trips that have followed), I've stuck with "Medium" tenders (3 LARGE tenders = very filling) and been very satisfied with the balance of heat and flavor. Someday when I'm feeling it, I'll give the "Xtra Hot" a try... I liked the fries I got on the side and they come with a tasty dipping sauce (two options, I've only had the "Comeback Sauce"). They were out of fries once and I had the coleslaw and it was tasty. Each of my visits, I've only encountered very pleasant cashiers and cooks. I'm actually shocked to see these other reviews talking about rude service. Given the sheer volume of service that these employees are having to provide (busiest restaurant by far in the MRM), I've been extremely impressed by how personable my interactions with them have been. I will definitely be back many times in the future. My only qualm is that now I have to choose between going to Lone Wolf or Chicken and the Wolf... read more

Super crunchy Nashville style hot fried chicken here! My flavorite is the extra hot (be careful when ordering this level), but all flavors are great. They have really mastered the batter so it stays crunchy and the chicken is still tender a juicy. The fried chicken sandwiches are HUGE, and their fries and side items - coleslaw, potato salad - are also good flavor and quality. My go to pieces are the thigh and wings, but even the vegan sandwich is worth a try. I recommend this as one of the stops on your visit to Mother Road Market, but plan for a wait because there's usually a line... but it's completely worth it! read more

I love Lone Wolf, so I was excited to give this place a try. I was impressed that they had a sign out front warning customers that their chicken was hot. I'm not a spicy person I opted for the no heat tenders. My food came out relatively quickly and there was plenty of chicken - 3 tenders but not a lot of fries, and a piece do bread and three pickles. The chicken tasted all right, but the batter was a bit over cooked and greasy. Unforunately, I couldn't eat the fries. They set my mouth on fire! It would be nice if the fries carried a warning that they were also spicy. It's a bit frustrating to pay $10 bucks for a meal and not be able to eat the side that comes with it. I probably won't come back and spend my money here. It's a shame, because Lone Wolf is such a winner. But Chicken and the Wolf doesn't follow in it's big brother's footsteps. read more

Not sure what all of these negative reviews are about! Dustin E complained because of waiting in line for an hour....BECAUSE IT'S AMAZING you crazy person! I had the chicken sandwich (mild) and side of potato salad, and my wife and youngest daughter each ordered a chicken tenders meal (mild) with cole slaw .. Everything was delicious .. Please note though that the servings are hefty .. The sandwich is huge, and you may want to have a knife handy to cut in half .. The chicken tenders meal comes with three large chicken tenders, which may be able to serve two people (both my wife and my daughter were only able to finish half of their dinner). The family and I were up in Tulsa and I wanted to take them to check this place out. I've been here once before but my over confidence in being able to handle the heat got the best of me. Last time, I got the hot chicken sandwich and it was so spicy that I couldn't finish it. This time I got the "Mild" sandwich so I could get the taste of the chicken. It was about on the scale of the Chick-fil-A spicy chicken and was very good. The prices are a little expensive at around $10-12 for the sandwich but you get a very large portion. This is a disgrace to Nashville hot chicken! I was very excited to try it and really wanted to like the chicken but it was just not good. I tried the hot spice level and it was hot but had no other flavor too it. My girlfriend had the mild and her chicken also had very little flavor. The comeback sauce was also disappointing. It seemed to be a lousy attempt at canes sauce. The venue was very nice and I was very dissapointed that the food was not good, I had very high expectations because their sister restraunt "lone wolf" is amazing. If you want hot chicken I would suggest "Hattie B's" in Nashville. It is just as hot as the hot spice level at chicken and the wolf but has a more complex and much better tasting flavor. read more

I just came back from Nashville and had some amazing hot chicken. So the first thing I did was google hot chicken in Tulsa. The chicken and the wolf was the highest rated hot chicken place. So naturally I had to try it. Unfortunately, I walked away disappointed. The OG sandwich was decent but not worth the price of 10.50, the potato salad was gross, and the tenders were not up to par, also the soda options that are available at MRM taste like the do it yourself soda stream. Verdict: solid 3 star establishment but a bit overpriced. I will probably not be spending the money to eat here in the future. read more

So i heard that this was supposed to be an awesome place from my Son and Daughter so my Son talked me into trying and i must say it was the most horrible chicken sandwich and fries for 14.00 i literally took 2 bites and even had my Son try it and he said the same thing horrible and he apologized for having me try it. The fries i received were cold the chicken seemed like it had been fried and refried and heated in a microwave it absolutley had no flavor and the skin underneath the hard breading was rubbery. This is an awesome concept that is flawed in its execution. Here is a list of nits: I was the only person in line, but waited 12 minutes for fingers and a wing. Fingers came out cold. Employees were screwing around instead of working. Those who waited on me were not well trained. The 'mild' sauce is supposed to have 'a little tingle.' It was hotter than most hot sauces in Mexican restaurants, all fire and no flavor. There is a sign that says they will not refund for misordering the sauce. That would be fine if the descriptions of the sauces were accurate. Breading was well over 50% of the product. The actual piece of chicken weighed no more than an ounce and a half - the product was at least 5 ounces. The breading was hard and fell off as soon as it was cut. It was extremely greasy and unappitizing. Side order of potato salad (recommeded as best by the manager) was extremely small and tasteless, unless my taste buds had been burned off by the sauce. When I went back to get a go-box, they asked how I liked it. I was honest and polite, but was then treated like I had the plague. It seems it was my fault that the product was unacceptable. Employee training and supervision, adequate care in the quality of foodserved, and respectable customer service are severely lacking here. I won't waste my time or cash. One more note: I find it interesting that the only good reviews here are from California residents. Dunno what that means. read more
