The tenders were quite large, and clearly made on the spot which is always nice. The potatoes and mac n' cheese were also very solid as well as being decent portions. Honestly, I was nervous going to chicken Charlie's today after loving it before and seeing reviews. I had a fantastic meal. I always find their portions to be huge. I did the 2 piece tender meal with fries and Montreal slaw. The gravy IS thicker, but it was still tasty for my fries. I think I prefer the texture for dipping fries because it does drip so much. Speaking of the fried they were the double fried type. Maybe they heard your concerns with hand cut? They are exactly as I remember! As always I couldn't finish the kids size meal. I didn't try my slaw. My daughter liked her Mac and cheese. My son didn't because it's not boxed cheese power (yay for everyone else!). My husband tried a bite and did think it was bland. I had Chicken Charlie's cater an informal wedding reception for me in August. Ordering online was easy thru EZCater. Though we live outside of their normal delivery area they accommodated us. Delivery was on time, food was hot and set up was excellent! The food was amazing! Ordered the chicken and rib buffet. Could have fed twice the number of people I ordered for! No one went hungry for sure! This was the second time I had them cater. The last was over 10 years ago and it was the same then as now. My only regret is we live outside of their delivery area now. It is really nice that they (used to or just brought back...not sure) have their own delivery, not using (although you can order from) third-party delivery companies that have huge delivery fees. The delivery drivers are always the sweetest! The only problems I have is that the food is very expensive for what you get, and that they aren't open on Monday anymore! Used to be one of my favorite restaurants around South Burlington, but recently qualify has gone down a ton and prices have stayed just as high as before. Great place to order from. Food came fast and was as expected. It's standard fare and all the classic, "bad" foods for a cheat night. The fried chicken was crispy and well seasoned. Creamy coleslaw was a little bland, but not bad. Chicken tenders are huge and the sriracha honey sauce is actually potent! Usually it's pretty tame but this packs heat! The high price add insult to the injury of the disappointing chicken served here. I ordered the fried Half chicken with fries on the side. The chicken was both dry and lacking in spices, and I ended up throwing out the last piece. I found that even the thighs lacked any juiciness and the breasts were actually difficult to eat without constantly sipping water. The fries were well seasoned, medium cut, soft fried fries and were the highlight of the meal. The service was fine, it wasn't ready when I got there, but I had ordered during peak dinner hours, and everything was at a good temperature even when I got home. While the staff were friendly, the location was convenient and the interior was clean and pleasant, I cannot recommend the fried chicken at anywhere near this price. I plan on returning to try the wings as those seem to be better reviewed, and the fries are unique enough to warrant a revisit. read more

The chicken was perfectly seasoned, very tender, juicy and properly cooked. My friend enjoyed the ribs as well. The side dishes, however, were subpar in quality and very disappointing. The mashed potatoes were clearly real potatoes, but they had no butter, no milk and little salt/pepper. They were literally boiled potatoes that were mashed. The mac and cheese was also watery and bland. My friend said, "I don't cook, but I even make better boxed Mac and cheese." The gravy was a bit thin and tasted like bouillon and water. My husband and I previously ordered food from here and picked it up via curbside pickup. The next time, we got it delivered to our hotel. We had to call after an hour of ordering the food (we were told it would be delivered within 30 minutes) and we were told it would be 10 minutes. After 20 minutes, we got a call from the delivery person asking where we were located when we gave instructions about the address and which hotel we were staying at, along with the hotel room number. The food arrived lukewarm, the poutine was cold, and we decided to try the milkshakes which were mostly melted. We were within a 3 minute drive and the food took over 1.5 hrs to be delivered which is incredibly disappointing. My husband paid the tip in advance so having the food be delivered that long after ordering, especially when we were within the vicinity of the restaurant, is incredibly disappointing. It is really sad for me to write this review, as I love Chicken Charlie's. I've been a loyal customer for many years. Tonight I ordered ribs and chicken wings, delivered. I don't eat sugar so I asked for my ribs to be dry. My delivery was ahead of schedule (as usual) and upon opening my food, I was sad to see that the ribs had been fully sauced. I called the restaurant to inform them. The same person who took my order, was very helpful and apologetic. She had arrived at a solution of giving me a credit, and we were wrapping up the call and a man took over the phone call. He was immediately combative and skeptical in his tone. He challenged me that there is no way my ribs had sauce on them, and what I was seeing was the ribs sweating. I offered to email or text him a photo of the ribs. He made me feel as if that was an outlandish idea. The person who took over the call and claimed to be the manager, eventually threatened to take me out of the system so I could never get delivery from them in the future. The counter person forgot to put in a whole order and then proceeded to charge us for it even though it was their fault and we had already been waiting 20 minutes. Then when I checked the rest of my order I was missing the french fries and when I went to the counter person to say so, she said "oh, did you say you wanted fries?" i said "yes I said the platter. I read it right off a text message as it was an order for my friend. " She then proceeds to ask me if I have the slip. She did not even offer to put in the order of fries for us after we waited an additional 20 minutes for an order that SHE forgot to put in. This was the first Friday night in October. If the two counter people spent less time trash talking patrons (we could absolutely hear them), perhaps they could have focused long enough to put in an order correctly. We will not be coming back. I am still sitting here shaking my head about how poorly I was treated- like I was an inconvenience to them for saying that they forgot my fries - and she went right back to chatting away with a coworker. My new go to for delivery wings. Honey Buffalo is fantastic. Pretty reasonable prices if you get a combo or platter. Ribs are good, but can be a bit cartilaginous. The meat is really good though. BBQ sauce is on point. Gravy fries: hard to go wrong here Tenders are good but might be a little different than what you are expecting. Give them a try though. I personally think they are great. Rotisserie chicken: I don't usually get it but it's absolutely solid. My favorite side is the baked beans. Very barbecuey. Delivery: always expedient and friendly. After a day and half of travel, dining in at a restaurant would have been a stretch so we settled for take-out rotisserie chicken from Chicken Charlie's thanks to the positive reviews from fellow Yelpers and also because it is conveniently located on the way from the airport. *sigh* Where do I begin? Several positives would have to be the speed in which the meal was prepared, the Classic Salad was fresh, the small side of Mashed Potatoes with gravy was perfectly acceptable, and that the bill came to a mere $23. Now onto the negative......which unfortunately pertains to the star attraction: The Rotisserie Chicken. It was quite petite in size....but it may be unfair to compare it with Costco's large hens. What really matters the most is taste, right? Well, the chicken meat was not very flavorful at all. It was bland while lacking juicy tenderness and moisture. Perhaps this might have been one of their off nights, however we never returned to find out. Incidentally, there's a Costco about 20 minutes away where the consistency of their rotisserie chicken ranks high nationwide.....plus the whole bird costs $7 less than Chicken Charlie's. read more
