Chicken Confidential is one of my go-to spots in El Segundo. I've had just about everything on the menu and have never had a meal I didn't really enjoy. The chicken sandwich is legit, and all of the salads are super fresh and full of flavor. The staff is always friendly, and the food comes out fast and delicious every time. It only took me six months to finally come visit this place. I ordered the spicy chicken sandwich and let me tell you.... Chicken Confidential over Chick-fil-A. The chicken was very moist, the spiciness was perfectly the way I like it, and the fries were good too. The quality buns, grilled onions and the sauce really help put it together. For $5 more you can get yourself a very high-quality sandwich. The service was great and the restaurant environment was well put together. Yummy!! Today, I was able to try their grilled chicken with basmati rice and coleslaw. I would say the plate I had was a perfect lunch meal. Grilled chicken was juicy, tender, and well-seasoned. I think that the chicken pairs really well with the red sauce, but it's also really good just on its own. Rice was perfectly seasoned, light enough to not overpower the chicken. The red sauce has a little bit of kick to it, but not spicy (unless you really can't take spice) Coleslaw was good too. I come to eat at this eating center regularly and Chicken Confidential always smells soooo delicious whenever I walk by so I knew I needed to try it. I LOVE spicy and it's always really hard for me to find a sauce with a high enough spice level for me and great taste and their spicy buffalo sauce was just PERFECT. Really good tbh, on god. The chicken here is honestly fire - super crispy on the outside while still juicy and tender inside. You can tell they season it right because every bite has flavor, not just the breading. I visit this food center often. Waited for this spot to open up. Was it worth the wait? The short answer? No. It's a single location. Which is good. I had high hopes. The grilled onions weren't. The Cole Slaw was warm/hot which isn't exactly what I expected. And not exactly good. I could see the scrambling in the kitchen and they could not find the potatoes to make more fries. My wife ordered the sandwich. The fries were cold and eh. She wasn't happy. The thing that really just made the experience hard to like... And this is going to sound so petty, but it needs to be said. The utensils suck. The user experience with the flimsy knife and fork left me feeling frustrated. Just. Worthless. There was no Coke in the machine. The lemonade was empty. The restaurant was also empty. I hope things change. If this is the execution of a dream, I'd suggest sleeping in a little longer and just get it right. While I'm here, there was a missed opportunity with the tag line about it being "chicken o'clock"... Chicken O'Cluck would have been better. I've been here four or five times; I've ordered a couple different things on the menu and overall I was happy with the taste. The staff is nice but I can tell they are still in a learning phase, which is fine. No shade... For a chicken place, they really don't have that much chicken on the menu. The chicken sandwich is good, but it's nothing too special. I like that it's grilled, but a little light on flavor. They have a "sloppy joe" on the menu, which tastes good but honestly is more of a hamburger: no sauce and a chopped up patty. Salads were pretty fresh and I liked that the Caesar salad had more than just lettuce, chicken, and croutons on it. Their dressings are very tasty. The fries tend to be overcooked (very dark in color and sometimes hard) yet cold and are usually broken up in tiny pieces. My main beef is the $4 coleslaw. It is not tasty and for the price I was very surprised and not at all happy to receive two 2-oz containers that were not even filled up all the way. Very disappointing. My honest opinion is that they still have some kinks to iron out and overall it's not a terrible place for lunch, but I wouldn't go out of my way to eat here. read more
