I'm a big fan of true food kitchen, and have been to the Walnut Creek, Palo Alto, and Newport location. This was my first time in the El Segundo location and I absolutely loved it! It's located in a shopping area in El Segundo called The Point. Parking: parking can be a little tricky, but it's free parking! Such an anomaly in the LA area lol. Kat was our waitress and she was phenomenal. Camine also came by and she was so hospitable. Everything that we ordered was on point! (Pun intended lol). My daughter got the cheese pizza and my son got the penne pasta. I kind of wish they had a side of vegetables or fruit, but thankfully, I had just given my kids some fruit before, so avoided the mom guilt lol. The edamame dumplings is an absolute must! It's an umami flavored dish! We also got the eggplant dish, and it was really good! If you've been to elephante in Santa Monica, it kind of reminds me of that, but the eggplant is a little bit more dense, but really great flavors. You may have to order an extra eggplant dip, because the ratio isn't exactly favorable towards the eggplant. Got the kale salad with shrimp. The shrimp was cooked to perfection! Kale was pretty good, but asked for extra cheese. My husband was all about the burger and he claimed it was one of the best burgers he's ever had! He got an IPA beer and I got a watermelon mint Mojito. It was really good, but I think I will try the skinny margarita next time. Was really hoping to have a 5 start experience to help promote more healthy restaurants. My wife loves this place, but has only been to the Newport location. We were in the area and tried a bunch of dishes/drinks, but they fell short of expectations. Service: staff was very nice. It was good, but they missed the mark several times to make it a great experience. Atmosphere: Was great weather on Sunday, so enjoyed the outdoor area. It was clean and noise level was low, so we could enjoy conversation over brunch. Food: Unfortunately, left a lot to be desired. The Green drink and Watermelon cocktail were both really good. So were the edamame dumplings. However, it wasn't the best All Grain bowl; and my wife has had it several times from the other location. The Peri peri plate had great chicken, but the rest of it was lack luster. We won't be ordering the pizza and fries again; our toddler wouldn't even eat the pizza :-( Hoping it was an anomaly, but perhaps the quality between the two locations varies? read more

The service was the highlight of our visit. Our server was friendly, efficient, and attentive throughout our business lunch. Unfortunately, the food was pretty unremarkable. I ordered the turkey burger, which the menu describes as having Diestel Farms turkey, smoked gouda, avocado, tomato, butter lettuce, and jalapeño remoulade. Mine looked nothing like the photo on the website. I couldn't find any avocado, tomato, or butter lettuce, and there was only a small dab of sauce. The burger itself reminded me of a very basic fast food burger, just made with turkey. It was small, dense, served on a plain bun, and lacked the fresh toppings and flavor you'd expect from a restaurant. At $18.95 with a side of kale salad, it was a disappointing value. The kale salad was fresh but noticeably overdressed. No one at our table complained, but no one commented on how good the food was either. It was simply an unremarkable lunch. The parking is great. The service is good. The interior is spacious. We have eaten here a number of times. It was our go-to restaurant in El Segundo. Unfortunately, they removed our two favorite items from the menu. I really enjoyed the curry bowl and my wife liked the ahi bowl. This time I had the jambalaya. It was fine. Next time, I would ask for rice instead of noodles. But I would not come back here just for the jambalaya. It wasn't anything special. My wife had the ancient grain bowl. Again it was okay. If I could give 3.5 stars, I would. Service is quite good which brings the score up. Ambiance is also pretty great and I love how convenient it is in the point. However the food was really mediocre and hit or miss. We got multiple entrees and I tried some of other people's. The bad: -The Chinese chicken salad was weird, I've never had anything like it but would NOT get it again. The ingredients a bit obscure which is fine but the dressing was unappetizing. -Adding "steak" to a salad- the "steak" that was added to our salad looked like chewed up dog food. Weird chunks that was so gross and chewy. I've had better steak at chipotle or any other establishment. They should really remove this option. MEH: -Salmon- salmon was cooked fine. Yummy food from a cool restaurant "chain" that doesn't really feel like a chain! The El Segundo location has lots of seating and parking with a nice outdoor patio. I love coming here for a chill lunch or dinner with friends or friends. Could easily be a great place for a work meeting or even a date:) The dishes I tried have generally all been delicious. True Food has been one of the biggest disappoints of 2026. We were at Proud Bird, and of all the places, decided to go to True Food, that promises healthy and delicious food. Unfortunately, it was either a bad day (Friday 7 pm) or their standards have dropped drastically. Service was probably some of the worst we have encountered. Probably a result of being short staffed, as even the person behind the bar was taking and serving table orders. The drinks were super sweet, despite checking in and expressing that we want to taste the sparkling water based mocktails. Probably made in a rush. The appetizer didn't arrive until the check. Some mixup, and it was undercooked. Imagine soggy edamame truffle dumping where all you taste is artificial truffle oil and soggy raw dough. A Turkey burger, where the highlight was it was salty. No flavor. Our request for some mustard was acknowledged three times by different servers, but did not result in any condiments. The only thing prompt was when we asked for the check. The vegan burger was a disaster. It was so sweet that you felt like you were eating a dessert. Nothing in the description promoted that it would be sugar border. Here's the description: PLANT-BASED DOUBLE CHEESEBURGER house-made portobello, beet, and walnut vegan patty, butter lettuce, pickled onions, tomato, vegan cheese, jalapeño rémoulade -- There was no jalapeño or any flavor other than deep fried patty, salt and the remnants of a sugarcane field. The air fried French fries were inconsistent, some burnt to a crisp, others almost raw. The sad part is that we have enjoyed True Food Kitchen in the past, so it wasn't like we were trying something unknown. Except it seems that the amazing founders (great story and concept) have expanded too fast and been unable to deliver to their brand ethos. We had to leave most of the food as it was inedible, raw, too salty or a sugar bomb. Ultimately the meal was neither healthy nor delicious. True food kitchen was not true to their promise :( For $100, we could've feasted at a chain like Cava (Nextdoor) and had plenty of moolah for ice cream. read more

I escaped LAX during a layover (before the red eye home!) to enjoy my favorite meal at TFK. This is a chain so I've been to these before but this one is a standout. The servers and staff really fo above and beyond to be warm and welcoming. My go to meal is the season soup, the kale salad with no cheese add salmon and occasionally I order the fries. The Baseline: For an eclectic dining experience, the food offerings must be of quality for the variety offered, the seasoning/flavors must be special, the side dish offering must make sense with the other items, and the menu must be manageable. Food: Used the August 2025 brunch menu and had some new things. Ranchers Hash was good- great steak, great sauce, good veggies, and sweet potatoes was the base starch. I ended up wanting regular potatoes over the sweet potatoes (and I understand the sweet potatoes are the healthier option), but I will chalk that up to personal preference. Farmer's Market Scramble was also good but it suffered from the sweet potatoes verses potato battle with my group (potato wins for preference). The scrabbled eggs were silky, smooth and delicious and the cheddar added to the dish. The Lemon Blueberry Muffins were awesome and were a great ender desert for the meal. My wife has been here a few times. This was my first time coming here. I like the overall space, the food, and the service. There so many healthier choices for us to try. Everything is made fresh to order. There are many options or substitutions that can be made too for special diet needs or restrictions. There are plenty of drink or specialized spritzers and non-soda(s) as they do not sell. The food and drinks come out timely. The service is great and the servers make their own drinks, there is no one bar tender or bar-back. Again the food is on the healthier side no grease, sat/fats or transfats. Came her for two reasons: Restaurant Week and heard a lot about this place as one of the few that doesn't cut corners and gives you food made in house with healthier options and ethicallly sourced. Hard to do in this day age. Location: On PCH and Rosecrans in Manhattan Beach in the North Point shopping center. Food:Edamame dumplings were surprisingly tasty without drowning in oils or bland. Wasn't a fan of the mush interior, but I couldn't expect much from beans. Jumbalaya pasta with sausage. This was spicy with a slight kick, but not enough to make me stop eating it. This was a big plate although it didn't look it and I ended up taking the other 1/2 of it home with me. The flourless chocolate cake. I wouldn't call this a cake so much as a brownie with a dollop of ice cream on top. The cake was so thick and fudgey, I kept looking at it to make sure it was a cake and not substituted with something else on the menu. Still, good and satisfied my sweet tooth. Summary: This is a fusion American interpretive cuisine kind of plalce so don't expect authentic anything with the non-American dishes. What you can expect is house made and ethically sourced ingredients made to order, not frozen (I hope). Everything is light in oil and not as greasy as most places. Does that take away from the flavor? No, not reallly, just healthier. The service was excellent and they will gladly make substitutions for your allergies and preferences. The ambiance is bright, airy with plenty of space. And, yes, they do serve alcohol including their own cocktails. If you're used to heavy oils ,salt, grease and dishes drowning in butter, you won't find that here and others may think these dishes are tasteless. But for those who still want to go out, but not feel too guilty about doing so, this is your place. Is it pricey? Took a little longer than I expected to come- seeing as to how we were pretty much the only ones here on a Tuesday night. Really disappointing. It's no surprise they are never that busy. We were one of a few tables at brunch time on a weekend. We had to flag someone down just to start with some coffee. And this was after waiting for 15 minutes! I mean, there was nobody in the restaurant minus a few customers. We ordered a side of blueberry pancakes , avocado toast and a scramble. Food was equally disappointing. The scramble had mainly just eggs and sweet potatoes and they call it a scramble?! No flavor. Didn't even have more than two bites. Waitress didn't even asked why. I tried to flag down to get some hot sauce or ketchup to add some flavor, but that was to no avail. I took it home and made a true scramble with ingredients I had in my fridge! I'm torn, but still giving True Food 4 stars from past experiences. Preface: I think you'll enjoy the food a lot more eating in person vs takeout. I really like this spot because of the quality of food and ingredients you are getting, but in my opinion some of their menu items are definitely over-priced and the teriyaki bowl I ordered the chicken was dry and overcooked. 6$ for a small side of underwhelming sweet potato chips I could have purchased x5 the amount in sweet potatoes at the store and made them myself - assuming it's priced this way with labor/operating costs though so keeping that in mind. Employees were super friendly and helpful sending me on my way with my takeout order and the restaurant is a cute in person lunch spot in The Point with indoor and outdoor seating. It was my first time here and honestly it did not disappoint! I didn't expect the food to taste so fresh and healthy. I ordered the chicken parm not realizing it came with pasta, once I tried it, the pasta was super light and flavorful. I ended up finishing the entire plate, it was that good! As well as for the burger it was really juicy. A must try is the Margherita handmade pizza, you can really taste the difference! It was my favorite thing from here so far. Not only that but when I ate it, it didn't make me feel heavy, it was super light as well and it wasn't oily. It was just perfect. Joey, our server, was amazing. I enjoy visiting TFK during the week to avoid crowds and enjoy a leisurely meal in a relaxed environment. This evening we arrived at 5 pm and were seated promptly. Our server greeted us, introduced the specials available, and patiently answered questions about ingredients to which I am allergic. He check-in regularly and ensured that each entree was just right. To start we had the guacamole (no cherry tomatoes) with flatbread crisps. It was salted well and tangy, pairing nicely with the peppers. I ordered the spicy Panang curry bowl with blackened shrimp and my friend had the lasagna al pesto. The curry had an enjoyable spice-level and was complimented by the sweet potato and bok choy. I would have preferred more black rice and a firmer sear on the shrimp, as I requested them blackened. The lasagna was reportedly fair but not an order my friend wanted to repeat. My first thought about True Food Kitchen is organic and health conscious. They have an open dining room with ample seating and a patio area. The servers are super friendly and accommodating. Today we ordered a lettuce wrap with shrimp as an appetizer with a Thai sauce and veggies. I started with a cup of tomato soup that was dairy free and not acidic at all. I had a burger and upgraded to sweet potato chips. Note: the burger had a fair amount of Parmesan cheese that was a little overwhelming, so if you don't like Parmesan cheese, you might want to ask them to hold it. Cheese pizza for the little one and Teriyaki Chicken Powergrain bowls for the ladies. The food is moderately priced but compared to a lot of organic restaurants, the portions are more substantial. Only my second time here but each time has made me wish I lived closer so I can dine here more frequently. Maybe El Segundo isn't too far from where I live but it's still a trek. Both times, the staff was amazing. Both times, everything we tried was amazing. I don't know how they manage to serve beyond delicately delicious Edamame Dumplings, and scrumptiously hearty Grass-Fed Burger (the one with mushrooms, arugula, onions and cheese) in one place and makes you feel like they specialize in burgers or fine dining dumplings. Whatever you end up chompin' down on, remember to try a drink - whether it's high quality tea or one of their refreshers or craft matches, try it. And definite yes to one of their dessert offerings. One of my favorite places to meet/take people. They have such a great selection of very fresh food. So anyone who's gluten free/vegan/dairy free/etc has plenty of selection. The drinks are so cool. The staff is great. It has such a California feel. Open, open kitchen, a lot of green and fresh air. And of course, this particular one is at a mall, so there's plenty of parking.
