First time ever trying this place yesterday for dinner, I got the sweet and spicy 6 piece drumsticks and beef kimbap. I don't know if it was just the flavor or the chicken itself cause I couldn't finish it completely and it didn't taste that good if I'm being honest. It was edible, but there was just way too much sauce and it was just constant bites of tasting the sauce only and left a bad taste in my mouth. The beef kimbap was good though and I finished that at least. One other thing that I noticed is also their packaging, 6 pieces of drumsticks or any other small amount orders don't need that big of a box it just causes more trash. The staff was very kind and friendly when taking my order and overall experience I'd stick with 3/5 stars probably. Would be willing to try again, but probably will be ordering a different flavor next time. read more

Chicken Day's kind of an odd restaurant. Service wise, it's not quite full service but above Carl's Jr: you go to the counter, you order, they bring your food out to you, but if you need anything, you kind of just yell it out and they bring you what you need. It's typically staffed only by like 2 high school/college students so it makes sense. Food-wise, the chicken's a bit on the greasy side. I think the best options are regular fried chicken (with spicy sauce on the side) or the spicy sauce chicken. It's actually not spicy at all, more sweet I'd say. The soy sauce chicken is just kind of salty and oily and not what I'd order. What I love about Chicken Day is they have boneless options for lazy, princess eaters like me. Bad customer service.. I been going here for years, They recently raise the price of chickens and only comes with 2 small sauce for whole chicken. When I asked for the extra sauce. Rolled into Chicken Day with zero knowledge or expectations. Rolled out full of yum and a box to go. The spicy wings were awesome. The excellent: Chicken done right. We have discovered this little gem. We have been getting the chicken wings. So far they have all been so delicious! The garlic sauces wings smell so good, it's hard to not snack on them while your driving. We get the teriyaki ones for our kids and the sweet and spicy for us. They are not too spicy. They usually serve them with a side of pickled radish, we're not a fan of it so usually ask them not to include it. They have a good size portion of fries as well. Best-Fried-Chicken on this side of town. First off, the teriyaki fried chicken, how is this even possible?! It's literally the most crispy delicious, juiciest, flavorful bite every time and we've been steady eating here for over a year, 10 stars for the teriyaki! I don't even know why it's called teriyaki because I'm normally not a fan of teriyaki sauce but this is just a simple crispy salty chicken with some umami notes ringing my flavor bud bells. Next up, the sweet and spicy is the perfect bite every time, again they always get it right, juicy, tender and packed with flavor, take a bite, chase it with some radish, sip a coke and just let it go, fried chicken bliss every time. It is a family owned, very authentic Korean chicken place, the fried chicken batter is light and crispy. My favorite is the garlic chicken. Not so spicy and full of flavors. Yummy fried chicken! This is my go to place when I'm craving Korean Fried Chicken (aka KFC). The chicken here is super moist with a crunch exterior. I always get the teriyaki version but I like it with a bit of sweet to it. They serve it with Kimchi and pickled radish which is the perfect complement to the fried chicken. As far as ambiance, it's not your 5 star restaurant but it is decent and the bathroom is clean. After going to several Korean style chicken places and feeling ripped off I went to Chicken Day. ( I loves my chicken! ) I had to make sure I was going to be hungry, So I went to a spin class first. It's located in a strip mall, mostly if not all of korean stores. Market, bakery, video shop and a couple other stores. We went around 8:30pm on Wednesday and there was plenty of parking and just 1 person inside waiting for a togo order. One side had huge orange booths and the other side had bench seating and chairs with smaller tables. They have 3 types: Original house spicy sauce, soy sauce based and regular fried (no sauce). Also you get your choice of whole chicken, wings and some other parts... We opted for the Whole chicken with the original spicy sauce. We also ordered 2 orders of kimbap (rice wrapped in seaweed with some veggies and meat) Kimbap was like $3 or so and it was one full roll. We chose the spicy and the beef. the kimbap wasn't the greatest, but hey its a chicken joint!. Now on to the good stuff. After experiencing several other chicken places we weren't sure if one order was going to do it (hence the kimbap order). But when the chicken came out we were like woah...that's a lot! It seemed like twice the amount of its competition in ktown! and for $13.99 at that! Ktown is like $16.99 or so. It looked really red, so I thought it was going to be spicy. But it wasn't too spicy but it had good flavor. (no beer though). The chicken was excellent! and for the price you can't beat it....I wish they had a location in OC!!!! Like some others have mentioned it is a very "fobby" place. The TV was on a Korean station. But it has the original Korean chicken flavor (umm yeah right like I would know what that is...but it sounds good!). Anyways come try it, it's good! BTW: everything is orange...I'm not sure if its because the chicken comes out orangish? But the booths are orange, the employees wear orange shirts and the menu has orange in it. Hmmm next time maybe I'll wear my orange shirt! I love me some korean style chicken and got all excited when I read that they had some of this locally.... first of all the chicken is too sweet...I love sweet, spicy chicken but this chicken was too sweet and not enough kick...it also wasn't fried to perfection the way I like....the daikon they give u with it was also no good at all...it was too soft, over marinated, too sweet.... sadly, the chicken was better reheated the next day... I thought this place would be a Kyochon copycat. Um no... It's much worse. I ordered the spicy chicken (which isn't spicy at all) and the original. Both were so disappointing. The only positive thing I can say about this is their yummy pickled radish, but that's about it. Their chicken is so damn dry! I like my chicken wings and legs to be soft and juicy, but Chicken Day's chicken is super stringy, and you really have to chew it well before swallowing. Very close to my house, figured I would give it a try. We went ahead and ordered takeout. The restaurant was clean and the service was nice. We wanted the pepper chicken but they did not have any pepper that day. So we got the sweet-and-sour and the teriyaki. The teriyaki chicken is very good. However the sweet-and-sour is not that good. It is just too saucy and the taste is average. I will go back to see if they have Korean pepper one more for me. Cost is reasonable. Driving around La Crescenta, we passed by what looked like a Korean chicken house called Chicken Day. Disappointed by the price and taste of KyoChon (which doesn't match the one in Korea), along with Chugajib in the valley, we had to find the IT spot for Korean fried chicken. Let's just say we had better luck than Kanye West's mom. This was seriously the taste I longed for since I came back from Korea with the sweet memories of BeBeQ, Mexicana, Pelicana, and the other 20 chicken companies they have on every block. I was instantly taken back to Seoul and between my GF and I, we finished nearly the entire box. Their box of chicken is $13.99, and they deliver if you live nearby, just like Korea! They also have Kimbap with tuna and their usual flavors for $2-3 a roll which I find very fair and delicious. If you seriously haven't been to Korea and want to try what everyone is raving about, I recommend you come here, not Kyochon. You will not be let down. WOW, who would've known! their chicken ROCKS! this is just two minutes from my home and i've always ignored it. i came real close to trying it once, but anyway... i was over at my mom's and she had grabbed some chicken wings for takeout one night. boy was i glad she did! this is the closest thing to the dry fried chicken i had at San Tung Chinese Restaurant (my review on 10/11/09) in San Francisco. they offer the sweet/mild flavor, and also the spicy. i also enjoyed their pickled radishes and AWESOME BBQ sauce. mmmm this stuff is ON FIRE!!! i'll have to come into the restaurant and get these fresh one of these days. so glad i don't have to drive all the way to SF to get some of this YUMMMY stuff!! =D read more

My wife lives very close to Chicken Day and she never introduced me until I asked her about it. She said it was just okay but when I ordered and tried, I was very pleased with how they prepared their fried chicken. Fried chicken was very crispy and flavorful. I also really liked their sauce as well. Who knew Koreans could make decent fried chicken. The regular fried chicken here reminded me of a lighter less-breaded Mandarin style chicken at a Chow King or similar Asian establishment. The spicy chicken was great and seemed to mix red pepper paste flavor (spicy) with honey or something similar (sweet). I would have to recommend the 1/2 and 1/2 box with each of these flavors, which will set you back about $15. (Feeds two comfortably or one big fatty like me trying to finish the entire box). To go sides were radish cubes (yum!) and rice costs a buck extra. As others have said, nothing is quite cheap here but then again if you want cheap, check out the Tuesday special at Popeye's. read more

I love Chicken Day! I love love love love Chicken Day! It makes me so happy, I don't know where it has been all my life! Chicken Day and I are going to be SO happy together! The spicy chicken is probably my favorite. It isn't really spicy, more sweet, but that doesn't matter because WOW is it delicious. I didn't want to stop eating or share any of the box we got (all legs). The regular fried is also excellent. Both were really perfectly fried, and juicy inside. So delicious. I must wax poetic about the fried chickeny love that Chicken Day gave me on Oscar night. I haven't tried the soy yet, but I'll get it next time. They don't have much on the menu. Chicken, fried. Chicken, fried and spicy/sweet. Chicken, fried and soy. There is also soup, made with, you guessed it, chicken. They had some other stuff, pickled radishes (really not my fave flavor or odor ever) and there was kimbap on the menu though I read on another review that they don't make it any more. I have a feeling I'm going to be driving into La Crescenta a lot more often for a chicken fix... I could be addicted. Oh, and the place is totally hard to find at night. If you're driving in to La Crescenta from La Canada Flintridge, you'll see a shawarma place on the right side. I think around Briggs - and then a little bit further, there's a sushi bar and Seoul Market in a tiny strip mall. Chicken Day is sandwiched in there. Their sign does not light up. Pros + we ordered the bbq chicken and it was delicious! the sauce was a little sweet and full of flavor. i liked the caramelization of the sauce and it helped keep the chicken crispy for a long time (we ate slow) + each piece was huge and it looks like they used drumsticks instead of drumettes + ginseng chicken soup was nice on a cold night. the soup is pretty thick Neutral +/- spicy rice cake was okay. i've had better Cons - found a long hair (definitely came from the kitchen) in the radish kimchee... - definitely not a fan of the side dishes that came with the meal. i didn't eat any of it. read more

I happen to like this place but this is ridiculous. I ordered the combo 6 piece legs, 10 piece wings. Of the 10 pieces, one was 1/3 the size of a normal wing. This is our familys favorite Fried chicken restaurant. We always order combo B which comes with sam gye tang (chicken soup?), full order of chicken, dduk bok kki (spicy rice cake), kim mal ee (fried seaweed wrapped noodles? Lol), salad and drinks. Its plenty of food for 3 of us :) since they have opened, they now added pork katsu which is now my favorite here. They have lunch bentos and kimbab too. Not a fan of their kimbab.. but others liked it. Small lot in the front and if its get crowded, street parking is usually not difficult. Go chicken day! read more

I've been craving for KFC (Korean Fried Chicken) for days now and I was too lazy to go all the way to Ktown just for that. Good thing I yelped my way to Chicken Day! Hooray!!! I noticed the mixed reviews but for me, my experience wasn't bad at all. I came in and checked out their menu, good thing there wasn't any line ahead but when I left the counter there were already 5-6 people waiting which goes to show that this place is poppin'! I asked the cashier her recommendations for a first-timer, I specifically said which one's the closest one to kyochon and she said it's their teriyaki chicken, So I ordered that and their sweet and spicy chicken. She told me that the sweet and spicy isn't really spicy at all and that the wait time would be 15mins and that's okay, I wasn't really in a rush. Upon getting my order, The guy apologized for the wait. Wow, not all places would have courteous enough servers for customers who are just getting food to-go, so that's a plus. The place isn't really ideal for dine-in but rather more like a place for to-go, although there are tables and chairs for those who would wanna eat there. Their teriyaki chicken is like your above-average home-made fried chicken, it was perfectly crispy and not salty at all!!! The meat was juicy and not dry unlike some typical fried chicken places. Their Sweet& Spicy chicken was also good, and true enough, not spicy at all, the sauce wasn't also too salty but came out really flavorful, it had more of the "sweet" kick to it. My husband and father-in-law both enjoyed our korean fried chicken! Chicken Day exceeded my expectations for a 3.5 rate so I'm giving a 4! I was hungry when I went there, so i came out pretty satistifed. I was hoping they would serve chicken soup, chicken salads, and chicken noodles or what not... after all it IS called Chicken Day. But they don't have any of that. Their menu consists of 6 main Chicken Entrees (the BBQ chicken is heavenly... they serve it with a bbq/asian/sweet sauce and topped with nuts. It's delicious. That was jsut about the best thing on their menu I had. Their fried chicken is a bit plain, and you might as well run to KFC. Korean food speaking.... they served radish with a side of sauce for free, and you can order Korean sushi (kim-pap). Don't expect rice to come with your meals. Portions are large, and the price is rather fitting. I spent about $18 for like 6 pieces of bbq chicken, 6 pieces of fried chicken, 12 pieces of mixed kim-pap (tuna, cheese, and crab), and the little radish side dish that came for free... and that was enough to feed the 3 of us who went. ANyway.... Service: so so. well.... it's not like they can help it... it's not exactly a full out restaurant. you have to pick up your own water from the front, and you order at the cashier. BUT... they bring the food to the table (so yeah. no 5 star treatment). Decorations: Clean, but simple. walking in, you will find two walls filled with post its that the owner let customers sign little messages and what not. Oh... they SO have a TV there, and Korean music. Deserts: None. Chicken Day serves Korean fried chicken. To feed my boy friend and I, we usually get the whole spicy chicken. It is sweet and slightly spicy. You eat it with pickled daikon radish. I like asking for more if the sauce on the side for extra goodness. They also carry a regular and soy sauce flavor, but I don't think that they are as impressive as the spicy. read more

As someone who worked at this business, my opinion may be slightly biased, BUT I am here to say that this is the BEST (korean) fried chicken place in the entirety of La Crescenta/La Cañada area! There is no close second- the food is amazing , the owner of the business is a lovey lady, and the service is usually on point :) Try the spicy rice cakes, fried chicken, or even the chicken soups!
