This is a small hole in the wall place in a small strip mall. They have solid fried chicken wings, whole, half, dark, white, whatever your preference with a few awesome sauces to choose from. Next time I will ask for the sauce on the side, it gets a lot gooey and overwhelming. They also have gimbab and two kinds of soup. Parking can be tough, they're competing with another restaurant, a market and a bakery but luckily there's a lot of people taking out and the parking turns over relatively quickly. read more

Hands down the best chicken wings spot in the Foothills. The wings are fried to perfection, nice & crispy without heavy oil. The chicken is fresh and not bloodied by the bone like most places. Service has always been friendly. Usually takes about 15-20mins max for your order to be ready depending on how busy it is. For me, it's always tasted fresh - my dad even likes it and he's the biggest food critic. It's also very clean inside which is always a huge plus when serving food. Not sure what some of the bad reviews are all about because I've had nothing but great experiences at this family owned restaurant. Decided to finally write a review for Chicken Day! I truly believe this establishment deserves more stars. The chicken is always fresh and flavorful (my favorite is the soy sauce one) and all of their other dishes are very solid. Their family sets are especially great value! We ordered the family meal combo #2 and added two orders of kimbaps (tuna and beef). Both kimbaps were great, but I personally like tuna better. The soup is always good no matter which type you get. I especially like it when I'm sick. The tteokppoki that came with the family set was much better than I originally expected. The rice cakes were soft and the sauce was perfect for dipping the kimbaps and kimari. Customer service is always good and quick, and they are great about taking phone orders --which I strongly recommend doing for small/family businesses anyways since you know the money will go to them and you also don't run the risk of having price inflation by the ordering app. read more

I love this place, I drive from Burbank just to get their sweet and spicy chicken. Just a tip for online ordering; if your real time surpasses your pickup time (for example, I put everything in the cart and drove there but didn't check out til I got off the freeway) your order will not go through. The online order will tell you it did, but it hasn't. I had a confusing mishap with the employees last time and I felt really bad about that. If you are driving for pickup and want your order fresh, I recommend pulling over 10 minutes before you get there to draft up your order and then place it. read more

I first was going to the Koreatown location but I live closer to this one now and had a craving tonight for the sweet and spicy boneless and got a salad with it. Everything was good! The chicken had a nice crispy coating and was nice and juicy on the inside. Some pieces were a little overcooked and there was a lot more batter than chicken on the boneless pieces. Keep calm and eat fried chicken. Without further ado let's begin this review. Chicken Day is a korean owned chicken restaurant. They're located at a tiny plaza on Foothill blvd in La Cañada. Indoor vibe and layout/design were banal but don't let the at fool you because they serve good fried chicken. I've been to their new SGV location and therefore I know their fried chicken is great. I ordered their Lunch combo #2 (4 drumsticks, steam rice, coleslaw and soda). It was as tasty, crunchy and deliciously flavorful. Prices were very competitive. Parking lot is very limited but had no trouble finding a spot. Staff (a young man and a middle aged woman) were amiable, competent and professional. However, my memory serves me correctly they failed to follow health covid (mask) protocol. Service was mildly slow. Serving was average. Overall, I had a smooth lunch order take out. No idea how this place gets such low ratings. The guy complaining about how the workers should come pick up his chicken from his house was pretty funny and incredibly entitled. I lived in Korea for a few years and had fried chicken from a lot of different places. The fried chicken here is great and the sauce is the best I've ever had. I'm not sure how people expect Michelin star customer service when they're picking up some fried chicken of all things. If you'd rather get boring chicken with pre-made and processed sauce, then go to a big chain like Kyochon as other clueless Elite members have alluded to. Much is about the same here. I have not eaten here in years, I used to sneak out here for lunch with my friend on work days. The decor has changed a bit and a few new offerings. I ordered a sweet and spicy boneless. It was as it was years ago. Tasty juicy chicken with the right sauce. The chicken was moist and juicy. My friend tried a newer flavor, I don't recall what i was ( I think it was spicy garlic?) but I tried it and it was delicious. Through many visits of trial & error when I used to live in La Crescenta, I've finally realized that the only way I like to order my chicken here is: Teriyaki sauce (the old menu said soy sauce) flavored -- CHICKEN WINGS. If you get anything else, whether it's the combo or drumsticks, be warned that you will end up with LARGE ass pieces of drumsticks that taste no good (proportion is off; not enough skin, too much flavorless meat). With the chicken wings, it comes with small wings & drumsticks, which gives the perfect skin to meat ratio. They fry the wings perfectly so that the skin is just crispy enough and packed w/ flavor. The white pickled radish they give you is a necessity to the meal; it gives a very refreshing cleansing after each bite of meat. With the full order, it comes out to $16.90 and half order is $8.45. Very delicious and satisfying. However, that being said, I've tried their other flavors including the sweet & spicy sauce chicken which is NO good. The sweet & spicy sauce makes the skin super soggy and the sauce isn't even spicy at all, just too sweet. They also sell some other items including kimbap and samgyetang (Korean ginseng chicken soup). Kimbap is average. Korean ginseng soup is made kind of differently here -- it has a large amount of the sticky rice, a little too much so it almost seems like a porridge. Not the biggest fan but tastes good enough if you don't have expectations of what it should taste like. Verdict... Reasonably priced, yummy fried Korean style chicken? I'm always down for trying Korean chicken places and was pleasantly surprised to find this place through Yelp. I went on a whim on a Friday night around 7pm and ordered for take out. The staff was friendly and the estimated time of wait 15 minutes was pretty spot on. I know many other people have commented that there isn't much to the decor and it is far from modernized but there's plenty of room for people to comfortably sit down and eat. The tables are wide, chairs and booths are comfortable and they do have a TV for entertainment. When I brought the chicken back to my hotel to eat I'm not sure if it was the 15 minute drive back but the breading wasn't as crispy as I would have liked. But the near was very tender. I did half original fried and the other half spicy. The sauce on it is pretty tasty. That tuna kimbap though! It is a must try! It seems made to order. When I brought it back the seran wrap was steaming. Definitely try their kimbap and chicken. I really appreciated their service. I asked for an extra radish and they don't charge extra here. In Chicago, they charge for that for sure lol Come support a nice mom and pop shop. Beer pairs well with Korean chicken. Good, solid, korean -style fried chicken joint where you get much more bang for your buck compared to love letter chicken and the likes. Nevertheless its lackluster menu and over priced kimbap ( think sushi roll minus the raw fish) separates this place from its competitors. I want to preface this review by saying that I had been patronizing this chicken shop since 2010, even before it changed in the hands of a new owner several years ago. In the last several months, the quality has gone down significantly. The batter used to be crispy and decent but 2 weeks ago and today l, ordered chicken to go and it has been very dissapointing. The batter is not crispy and parts of the chicken were soggy and very oily. I tried to give this place another chance today. I ordered on the phone around 9 pm on a Sunday and asked the lady to make sure the chicken did not come out greasy and to make sure the batter was crispy. When I went to go pick it up, I again told her again that the last time I ordered,it was very greasy and not crispy as usual. She said, i should have called right away so i could get have gotten some sort of credit. Right before I left, she told me that they made sure to give it special attention and to let her know if it tastes better. I went home and it was again very greasy and the chicken was sitting in grease and the bottom parts were soggy and there was no crispy batter. Even the top parts of the chicken were very not crispy. I called the Korean lady/ cashier and asked if the cook changed or they changed the recipe. she said no they didnt. I told her that, again, the chicken was sitting in grease and the batter was not crispy. She then got defensive and said that she never heard that kind of complaint from anyone else. I told her that I already told her and she was the one that told me to call them right away and so I did. I asked her why she even told me to call her if she wasn't goung to remedy it. She then proceeds to tell me that she only meant that I should have called last time when I ordered the chicken and not today. What????? Then she tells me to go back to the store and return the chicken, I told her I was already home and I could not go there. If she wants the chicken, she can pick it up herself. Then she changes her mind and says I cannot return the chicken and she will not refund the money on the chicken. She was very inconsistent and being fickle. She was so rude and never once apologized or tried to remedy the situation. Why woukd she even tell me to call the store about any complaints if she had no intention of helping me. At one point, she hung up on me and when i tried to call her back several times, she kept hanging up on me. She refused to give me the contact info for the owner, manager or anyone else.
