    Chicken breast and fries

I have Driven by here many times and wondered how it is. Well today I stopped and man I'm happy. Very good and hot chicken. Got 3 pieces 2 legs and a breast and fries and some Fried okra. The seasoning was good and everything was hot and fresh. I may pick this over Rudy's chicken for now on.

    Two of my lovely thighs!

Chicken House has been a favorite for many years. I have a Popeye's and a Golden Chick within walking distance of me, but I can't be bothered with that nonsense. I make the 20 minute drive to Chicken House whenever I get that craving. The best chicken is when they first open but consistently good all day long, super crispy and nicely seasoned. Last time I was there I ordered ice tea. I really only drink unsweet tea but I really wanted something to drink and the only other options was sodas (or maybe water, I guess). Wow, this was the best sweet tea I have ever had. So strange but I will order it again.

I've been curious about this place for some time, even when it was Brother's Chicken. Last night after happy hour I was feeling a little hungry. There aren't many drive-through options driving down Gaston, so I was prepared to make something at home. But then I saw the OPEN sign on the Chicken House so I made a quick turn to the drive-through. Ordering from the drive-through proved to be challenging, as the person taking my order didn't understand me, and I didn't understand him. I went ahead and pulled up to the window and ordered from a sweet lady. After taking my order, she asked me to pull around, which drives me nuts when there's no one behind me. But whatever. I ordered the chicken finger basket and it took forever for it to come out (pro-tip: call ahead). Finally home I enjoyed the chicken very much. The chicken was juicy and flavorful. The gravy was good, although it didn't taste homemade or anything, but that was okay with me. The two pieces of white bread were a nice addition as well as the fries. The fries were greasy, but they tasted gooOOOd. If I'm ever in a pinch again for fast food I'll remember Chicken House for a future visit, fo sho!

Entrance to drive through is on the right side of the building (north side)

Hot and delicious fried chicken at a great price! Super fast and friendly drive through service. Got the chicken dinner with 2 thighs for $5.25. Came with fries, 2 slices of bread, some pickles and pickled jalapeño. They even have a cheaper option to get chicken by the piece, which is what I'll do next time, cause the chicken is so good, that's all I need!

Today, I had a doctor's appointment nearby and looked forward to a return visit. Unfortunately my food was disappointing. I ordered 3 eggs, cinnamon roll and coffee. The best part of the meal was the coffee which was tasty and fresh. The eggs were good. Nothing special but hot and tasty. However, the cinnamon roll - which is the reason I came here - was tasteless and very stale. I won't be back. I can get coffee and average eggs anywhere. If they are serving stale pastries, the place is no longer special.

Tonight my server, Ary, was very warm, attentive, and knew the menu very well, and offered me excellent recommendations. I called before deciding where to eat on a Sunday afternoon to confirm parking situations. Parking is not easy downtown so this played a huge factor in figuring where, out of the dozens of brunch places, to eat. Definitely a bit of a walk to get accommodated at the actual restaurant so valet seemed the most reasonably enticing for parking solutions. Well, I called and spoke with the lady at the front desk. I confirmed with this little girl FOUR TIMES IF 1. They had valet available today 2. If it was complimentary. Come to find out it was not complimentary. And $7 for parking just doesn't sit well with me when there are ample free options else where with satisfying beverage, meal, ambiance, and service. All of which, I DID NOT GET AT HAYWIRE. I come in and although I had a reservation that I was 10 minutes early for while noticing tables available, I was told by that same girl who lied to me about parking I needed to take a seat. Reassuring me that it would only take two minutes to be seated. 10 minutes later I see coupled and groups walking in and guess what? They were immediately sat. While I am waiting to be sat at one of the three clean tables I'm staring at. I finally tell my boyfriend I am about to eat at the bar and he goes to the hostess stand to inform them our frustration and guess what? We were sat immediately. I get seated and there are two standing fans placed next to my table that's blowing my hair all over the f*****g place. I had to tell them to turn them off. What? No AC in this place either?? We immediately ordered and got the elk tacos for an appetizer. The tacos are WAY too spicy and way too salty. Too spicy AND too salty?? They're a no for me. You literally can't taste anything because of both! I HATED these little tacos. Probably the worst I've ever had. Ever seen someone attempt to pinch a bit of salt to season and the entire top comes off?? These tacos. My boyfriend had the chicken fried steak. He loved it (loves spicy and seasonings because he's Cajun) but I tried it and it was over seasoned. Again? Couldn't taste what I was eating. The mashed potatoes were divine. Enjoyed those! And then the green beans were tasteless. Hahaha what a joke. I ordered the barbacoa chilaquiles and it was literally too spicy to eat. Inedible. My eyes teared up, my nose started running, and I couldn't taste anything after a couple bites of the spice. I was so f*****g over this place I just ate my boyfriend's mashed potatoes and we left. If I had it my way, I wouldn't have paid for a thing here. They don't deserve our money and I HATE they got a cent from me. I'm livid. I hate this place W I L L N E V E R B E B A C K
