I hate when places like this have the "tip" line when you pay with credit card. It's not that I don't like to tip, but seriously, the staff shouldn't have an extra tip. They don't serve you, they don't (technically) take your order and they shouldn't clean your table after - come on people, throw away your own trash. So yea, I always kick myself for not paying in cash as I hate to scratch out the tip section. It makes me feel like a douche, but really, I shouldn't. Should I? Chicken Kitchen is one of those things I can eat every day. I (try to) recreate it at home all the time - I mean it's essentially just chicken, rice, beans, lettuce, tomatoes, cheese......BUT..then there is .... THAT SAUCE. I can't recreate that. So my home version always falls flat. So while we all know what the "secret sauce" (the sauce, duh) is to their success, it's impossible to recreate. I always go with a Mexican Chop Chop on yellow rice. Man, I love yellow rice. While this brand is fairly consistent when it comes to the food, it's always down to the staff to make the other elements right. The staff here is a little hit or miss. Sometimes they are nice - other days the seem to care less. I've seen the place spotless - but I've also seen the place a disaster. My last trip I noticed that even though the place was empty - it was still pretty messy. Spilled sauces by the sauce bar. Cup lids all disorganized. Straw wrappers all over the place. I have been visiting this chicken kitchen for years while having pregnancy cravings and Mercedes Lucy has always taken care of me through 2 pregnancies and beyond. Now that my boys are bigger we visit and she still remembers me and provides great customer service. The food quality is great and my kids love it! They have always left satisfied! This location is terrible. I came with family and we were all disappointed. One of the employees was so rude to us when we were ordering. When we received our sour cream it was warm and milky, then we tried asking for new sour cream and the lady argued that we were wrong and then threw the sample cups across the kitchen into the garbage. I am still so grossed out, even after my dinner from more than 12 hours ago. Here's the skinny: got myself a deluxe chop chop. Had a few bites, loved it as usual, when I spotted a CURLY BROWN HAIR spiraled around my yellow rice. I was so starving that I actually picked it out and kept eating.... (I know, I deserve to be judged for this). But then the unspeakable happened. I found multiple additional hairs in the bowl. There were clumps of fuzzies like you'd find on a sweater and also little fuzzy hairs on the chicken breast. How did this happen more than 3 times in one bowl? There are major quality concerns to be addressed here, because the customer base is clearly not happy. Easy adjustments like hair nets or requirements for girls to pull their hair back would solve this disgusting issue...and this is crucial, because loyal Chicken Kitchen followers who would typically spend a lot of money with you (namely, me) will never come back. I'm actually shocked that this Chicken Kitchen has such poor reviews. Maybe it's because I'm used to the Chicken Kitchen in Brickell, but this location is leaps and bounds better. The only reason I did not give this Chicken Kitchen 5 stars was because they ran out of guacamole and salsa so I couldn't order my favorite, the Bazooka chop-chop. This location is right by my parent's house and I've eaten here on many occasions and it's always consistently good. The chicken is always fresh and a large chop-chop is enough food for 2 meals. I love the sauces that Chicken Kitchen offers with the chipotle being my personal favorite. I think reviewers should temper their expectations but if you're a fan of the Chicken Kitchen franchise then I think you know what to expect. Great quick food that can be healthy!! They have great meals that are based around either a chicken breast or chicken.. It's not overly marinated so you are not overwhelmed by the flavor. It has just enough to make a great tasting chicken.. Try their lunch specials, I get the rice and beans with the chicken breast and their famous salsa and mustard curry sauce! The service is average, the women behind the counter are not that fast, I usually am waiting 5-10 minutes for my food. The place is pretty clean, I always see people cleaning up tables. The one thing that I really didnt like, which could totally be me, is the smell. It usually smells like cleaning solution every time I come here which forces me to take my food to go. We stopped in to Chicken Kitchen since the name was funky and the only other two options were Burger King and Subway, both National chains, so we opted for the local chain instead. We all got the Cuban Chop Chop and it was pretty damn filling. You definitely get a lot of bang for your buck here and the food is pretty clean tasting for quick serve eats. And at first I didn't understand what a chop-chop was - it's a bowl of rice, with chopped chicken and some other toppings.
