Placed an order through Uber Eats for a pickup order. It showed an estimated pickup time of 5:08 pm. I get there at 5:11 pm, and they tell me it will take another 30 minutes. Somehow, the Uber Eats estimated ready time is now 5:41 pm! The restaurant isn't even that busy. This is really more of a complaint against Uber Eats, but Chicken Loco is also in the wrong. I don't see how they can't just process my order since I'm just sitting here waiting for my order. There is no one in line, and the to go orders don't even seem to be that much. read more

I wanted Peruvian Rotisserie style chicken and decided to give this place a try. When you walk in you will notice tables and chairs for dine-in eating, a case of filled with Latin American style sweet breads and pastries, and the counter where you order food. Everything is cooked in advance so you select the entree you want. There is a full menu above the hot food which explains what they serve. I noticed beef stew, chicken stew, fish, beef short ribs, and of course the rotisserie chicken, and sides like fried plantain, white rice, red beans, fried rice, steamed veggies, and fresh salsas and sauces. There was a lot more on the menu. I ordered the Costillas or the Beef Short Ribs that came with 2 sides so I got the fried plantain, rice and red bean mix, fresh salsa and a cabbage salsa, and it came with 2 corn tortillas. The Beef Short Ribs were well seasoned, a little tough and and chewy, I thought they would be more tender. But the flavor was really good nevertheless. The plantain were sweet and well fried. One piece of plantain was undercooked. I am glad I gave this place a try. I rarely order carry-out but I will add this one to my rotation. read more

First off I like the way this place looks. Also really nice people here. A wonderful staff, but I've had better Peruvian chicken. Will admit I'm uptight and have very high standards. Their racks of beef were actually better. Also the serving size for the price is so so. Give it a try is my recommendation, and if in the area with a need for Peruvian chicken, this does do that. The plantains and steamed vegetables were surprisingly good. I liked these, and as they are power foods, they definitely help out. The tables are comfortable, as are the chairs. My friend loved the lengua and it was the best he's ever had- very soft and tender and not chewy at all and the flavor was great. My carne guisada was ok- a bit dry and didn't have the same sauce. In general I'm a big fan of Peruvian Chicken, and this place, like so many other places, makes me wanna come back for more, and to borrow a line from the colonel, it really is "finger lickin good" too. We ordered two whole chickens for carry-out to split between 4 people. Whole chickens with 2 sides was $13. Sides of corn on the cob, cooked vegetables, rice, and something else, honestly were not that great. Rice was rather bland (compared to Super Pollo), veggies were mushy from being overcooked, corn on the cob was just okay, and the other side dish was sooo forgettable...I forgot what it was. As for the chicken, it had a healthy amount of seasoning rubbed into it so it tasted great, however, I can't speak to the texture or moistness of the chicken as my wife reheated it in the oven for a little bit, so it wasn't as moist as I had hoped...but it wasn't dry either. I suspect it would have been nice and juicy had we eaten it right away. I think we'll definitely be back, especially to try according to my wife, some kind of stew with peruvian chicken similar to Korean sam-gye-tang. Annandale is slowly becoming a place to go for more than just Korean food. Now we'll be coming here for good Vietnamese and Peruvian Chicken. read more

I have my favorites in terms of Peruvian chicken places, but I was pretty okay with Chicken Loco. I've always been curious about this place when I pass it frequently to get to H-Mart :P The place seemed to be recently renovated. When we walked in, the place was pretty busy in terms of people dining in as well as some coming in to pick up take-out orders. My husband and I shared the 1/2 Chicken combo, which came with 2 sides. We opted for fried rice and french fries (steak fries). The chicken itself had great flavored skin, and the meat itself was extremely juicy (like, really juicy!). The aji sauce was more on the mustardy side, which actually complemented their meat. The sides were okay - the fries could have been more fresh, and the rice itself was forgettable. The staff was friendly, and the guy who helped us out wasn't too stingy with the sauce, either! There is also a bottle of hot sauce on tables, so you can use that. You have to ask for packets of ketchup if you want that for your fries. I HAD to have Peruvian chicken the other night, so I decided to check out Chicken Loco after passing it millions of times on 236. (Little River Turnpike) I ordered a 1/4 chicken which came with 2 sides, (I chose white rice and veggies) and my boyfriend and I split a large order of yucca. My boyfriend attempted to order food, but everything he wanted was "out" (tacos, burritos, pupusas...) for some unexplained reason. The chicken was juicy and well cooked, and they were generous on their portions of sides and yucca... but it wasn't anything super special compared to Super Chicken or El Pollo Rico. Hopefully, next time I'll be able to try the pupusas that everybody raves about! read more

The sides I got were the steamed veggies and plantains. Let's start with the chicken. A bit dry, a little underseasoned and for being a panaderia/pollo/asian bistro the meat was formidably average. The veggies were steamed too long leading to its soggy appearance and mushy taste. The plaintains were ok in small quantities, but they get old real fast from the burnt aftertaste. All in all. I came three times to get a whole chicken and twice they really lived up to their name. A chicken place that has no chicken is very Loco! I got pupusas and a tamale and the tamale was a soggy disgusting mess having sat in a water tray- WTF? The pupusas were cold. Really do yourself a favor for chicken and go to Chicken Polo a mile down the road. Real hardwood mixed with the charcoal and the chicken is fresh off the skewer. Far...far better and worth the wait since you almost always have to stand in line but well worth it and you can see your chicken being pulled off the skewer and cut up right in front of you. Their good is alright!!! the attitude of the women's working there is awful. I sometimes go and eat there for a quick grab with my parents or wife. Other times I go there just to buy tortillas cause my wife makes a bomb sopa de res and other times I called to order for Pupusas. When I go for just tortillas they make a big face, Yesss the old womans cooking like saying he got to to way for the tortilla when they got a whole stack in the little warmer. This place has the best Pupusas in the northern VA area. I'm Salvadorean and this place surely make their pupusas as good ass the ones in El Salvador. Full disclosure: I've never had anything but the quarter chicken, two sides here. Good golly it's tasty though ! I work in the area and your only options really are McDonalds, Wendy's or Korean takeout. I bring my lunch 99% of the time, but when i don't this place is it. 4 stars because they run out of chicken.... frequently (maybe I just have bad luck ?). Hilarious to me as they are a chicken joint. My favorite sides are the beans and rice, yucca (!!! so good) or plantains. Tons of food for slightly more than 6 bucks (I never finish it all).
